That sounds like a mammoth walk! Ditto on the tired front. Lying on my bed at 5.45. First day back at work today after the Easter hols so I think it might take some getting used to!

Anyone else got cats? My two are really chuffed with the two new beds we have bought for them (cot and Moses basket). Cat net needs to be our next purchase...

Steffanoid · 15/04/2013 18:29

Gosh ladies you're very active, my little dumpling has decided not to treat me nicely at all this week, it's first time round for us and we've just started holiday/mat leave, it feels like he's crushing my hips today and I think he's engaged over the last couple of days, I got a stern look from dp when I got home today as I'd done some tidying, washed the sofa covers been to tesco and then to pick paint up, got told I'm supposed to be resting when I hobbled through the door with my hips killing me, isitjustme who's discovering how little they can do without getting super tired/ in a huge grumpy strop?

pinkapples · 15/04/2013 18:54

No I'm definitely discovering that steffanoid it's a nightmare as my mind like yours Sarah still thinks it can do everything

Getting out of bed in the morning is the worst struggle I've got a tempur and the more bump I have the deeper into the bed I sink Hmm nice when I'm just going to get not nice when I have to get up

pinkbear82 · 15/04/2013 19:25

On the tired stroppy front.... My DP has just announced I'm having a 'preggers paddy'!
I may have just finished a meltdown/rant rational conversation about how I'm fed up with rushing around and achieving things for everyone else and not finishing anything I need or want to do..... And I may have ended it by slightly yelling when asked if we were going to b&q now ' no we're bloody not, I can't be arsed to pick out paint colours, paint the bloody nursery sky blue pink for all I care'.

Bath and early night in order I think.

Sarah2506 · 15/04/2013 19:49

It is difficult when your body and mind aren't in sync! Strangely though the three miles I walk on an office day are way worse than ten on a weekend day. I don't know why. Maybe because there is no office involved. I will struggle to drag myself the mile to the midwives, be too exhausted to get to work or even out of bed and then suddenly I'm fine again. Peaks and troughs I'd say. But yes bump ache is often bad positioning on the part of the baby, so if you stop and then carry on it often passes.

AlohaMama · 15/04/2013 19:51

Very impressed Sarah. I feel distinctly lazy and in fact struggled to get into much of an exercise routine since ds was born 2 yrs ago. Definitely am much less active this pregnancy so I'm hoping it won't make birth/recovery harder. For some reason that Pregnancy Yoga DVD I've got just doesn't seem to actually get played all that often...

SunnyL · 16/04/2013 10:13

I'm a bit like you Sarah. I keep forgetting I'm pregnant and set out to do normal stuff and then wonder why I'm knackered. I'm still walking 2 miles to work each day (and back again) but I'm definitely getting slower. I tend to get a tight bump about half-way but it eases off as I go.

Just found out my employers don't currently do the childcare vouchers thing. Now I need to put a business case to my finance director to encourage them to do so. Bugger - more work!

MrsBri · 16/04/2013 10:33

Childcare vouchers are being replaced by the government anyway. They announced it the other week. Not sure when the replacement scheme will start though :-/

My bump gets increasingly achey as I walk. I'm seriously doing something wrong!

MrsBri · 16/04/2013 10:36

Ah, bloody ages away...best get onto your employer!

Olimoss · 16/04/2013 10:50

Can you do the childcare voucher thing if you have your own business? Ie: get it through the business?

I am seriously tired all the time now - it's so weird as, like you all, I just forget that there's a reason for being this tired and get cranky cause I can't just do what I want when I want. I seriously hang out for 9pm and then almost run (run - ha!) upstairs to bed! I have been sleeping ok, though, which is a relief.

Got non-pregnancy trousers on today, helped shut with a hair band. It might all go horribly wrong if that hairband snaps!

Littlemissexpecting · 16/04/2013 12:28

Mrs Bri I read that the current scheme won't just stop for those already getting them. As where both parents can receive them then they will actually be worse off in new scheme. New scheme will benefit those whose employer doesn't offer them or where only 1 parent can receive them. As far as I understand anyway. But it could all change by the time its all implemented. Can't remember start date was it April 2014 or 2015?

SunnyL · 16/04/2013 12:53

Woo hoo Finance Director is happy in principle to support childcare vouchers. DH's employers already offer it but as he works for a massive institution this is quite normal. I work for a very small company (i.e. 15 of us) so in the past they've avoided doing it since it costs them admin time. Nice to have a new Finance Director who is happy to help though.

learnermummy · 16/04/2013 12:57

Sunny, I work for a very small company and was actually the only one claiming vouchers. There are typically admin fees to pay but it saves the company NI.

MrsBri · 16/04/2013 13:34

Apparently it is late 2015, after the next election. So not imminent.

I don't know about the changes though, as I don't think we will be affected by it.

And that's excellent news, Sunny :-)

RueDeWakening · 16/04/2013 14:03

Today's big news: LO will be arriving on 16th May if not before Shock I saw the consultant this morning and had a section date booked in.

Blimey, it all seems a bit real (and close!) now...

DontmindifIdo · 16/04/2013 14:06

Rue - wow! That's all a bit soon!

OP posts:
learnermummy · 16/04/2013 14:21

Wow Rue.

Got panicked this morning as DS2's nursery manager has gone into labour at 32 weeks! And it's her 4th, no problems with the other 3. Would not be ready for a baby next week!

Olimoss · 16/04/2013 14:34

Oh my gosh Rue, you'll definitely be the first!

MrsBri · 16/04/2013 14:38

Wow Rue...hopefully you'll be the first of us to go! :-)

And yes, Learner, early arrival scares me somewhat. I can tell baby has dropped now he's turned, so a bit concerned. Hopefully my midwife will reassure me next week!

forgetmenots · 16/04/2013 14:44

Lovely news Rue :)

curiousgeorgie · 16/04/2013 14:53

Wow Rue!! That's so exciting and so soon!! How many weeks will you be?

I can't wait to get my c section date... They keep telling me 'at the next appointment!'

SunnyL · 16/04/2013 15:04

Man that's a weird thought - knowing when baby human will arrive. And Learner - for some of us 32 weeks is already a reality!

I'm booked onto maternity leave at 37 weeks and a colleague is taking great delight in pointing out that her child had the same due date as mine so she finished work on the friday and baby arrived on the Sunday. That will be so annoying - I was hoping to spend 3 weeks going for long lunches and just generally having lie-ins.

Sarah2506 · 16/04/2013 15:28

I need to go on maternity leave NOW. I keep having weird sex dreams about my boss. Every time I speak to him I blush and get flustered. He obviously thinks I'm mad. I am just so embarrassed. Why WHY?!

Excellent news re section. Mine isn't until 7th June at 39 weeks. It is weird knowing!

RueDeWakening · 16/04/2013 15:32

I'm just over 33 weeks now, and will be just under 38 weeks for the section Smile it's good to have a date - as much as anything else, I need to sort childcare out for the other two! Preschool won't mind if DS misses a session or two, but school might get a bit stroppy if DD doesn't turn up Grin
