Ohhhh I have that episode recorded, not been brave enough to watch it yet though Sad

Forgot to say thanks for all the pillow tips yesterday - I've reserved my Argos half price special to pick up this afternoon yay!

Midwife appt went well - she went over my blood results again (all fine), took blood pressure (fine), asked if I'd brought a wee sample...I hadn't as I'd not been given a pot last time so she said not to worry this time. Then she listened to the heartbeat which was just lovely - I laid there grinning like a loon GrinGrinGrin

BinarySolo · 28/03/2013 12:51

When the midwife let me listen to the baby's heartbeat she lifted my ds up to sit with me. He promptly straddled my belly like it was a horse!

Anyone else picking up all their toddler's illnesses? I have had hand, foot & mount AND noro virus in the last 2 weeks, uuuurgh....

purplebynature · 28/03/2013 13:30

Uggh NHS rant coming up!
I went for my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday, she was lovely and we heard the heartbeat again. Then she said, I assume you got your bladder infection sorted out? I said what bladder infection. It turned out that it had been picked up in the results of tests from my BOOKING IN APPOINTMENT and no-one had let me know. No phone call, no message, nothing. I phoned the GP and the receptionist said the tests had all been normal. Then I got them to speak to the midwife and they found me a GP appointment, having now found the abnormal results. I went to the surgery and they handed me a prescription for antibiotics that had been sitting there for 4 weeks, waiting for me to be psychic and go and get it, presumably.
I just thought I was unlucky to be feeling more sick in the second trimester and still peeing loads!
At least I'll feel better soon.

I know this is far from the biggest problem but it doesn't give you much faith does it, keep your wits about you ladies!

jennimoo · 28/03/2013 13:39

That's rubbish purple!

Neural - I've been I'll almost constantly since 9 weeks: Niro virus then a string of cold / flu type things :( Still coughing badly and in lots of pain but just got antibiotics so hoping the coughing will clear up soon.

Also, for some reason, trying to potty train DD from today. Will probably have to quit as not really up to it and she's not (ever!) in a helpful mood...

JammyTummy · 28/03/2013 14:13

It's a little lady!!!

nerual · 28/03/2013 14:28

ooh jenni, how old is DD? I am harbouring a fantasy that I will be able to potty train DS before the new baby arrives... he will be 2 in July. Wondering if being a bit ambitious, especially as boys supposed to be harder to potty train than girls!! Would be so lovely to only have 1 in nappies at a time!

jennimoo · 28/03/2013 14:59

Jammy, exciting, one if each for the group now I think.

Neural - DD is 2 and a half. Tried at almost 2 and although she was physically ready (could go 6h...) didn't seem to get it so we left it. I would think Your DS might be a bit young, I'd wait if we weren't expecting just before DD turns 3...

KamikazeeKid · 28/03/2013 15:00

neral let us know how you get on, id love ds to be potty trained by this July (he'll be 2 in July too - were you on the mumsnet July 2011 thread???) my friends little girl is 2 in July and shes forced her into potty training but its worked! Imagine the savings!

Hey whoever mentioned reusing wee bottles we have to too just clean with boiling water....I am a good aim but use a container ;-)

Readytosettle · 28/03/2013 16:02

Have made it through the last day of conference. Cold seems to have got progressively worse to the point where people keeping asking me if I'm crying today. Just got a black tie do tonight (can't think of anything worse right now) and then the journey back tomoro (yes, that's on MY bank holiday grr!).

Anyways, am now planning my catch up tv for 2moro avo & really stuck when it comes to One Born. Everyone on fb seems to be saying don't watch, but I'm in two minds - part of me wouldnt mind a big cry, the other part is wondering whether this will give me additional fears that I hadn't had before....anyone have an opinion? I normally love one born.

badguider · 28/03/2013 16:05

Does anybody else still have almost no social life due to tiredness?

It's my cycle club pub night tonight but I honestly don't think I can do anything but go straight to bed after work SadAngry

I'm BORED of needing to sleep so much!!!

badguider · 28/03/2013 16:06

Oh, and I'm 17 weeks today so well and truly into the second trimester (but no 16wk appt for another week and a half yet due to MW holidays).

nerual · 28/03/2013 16:10

Kamikazee how cool that our kids will be the same age, am sure we will have lots of pain points to share! I think jenni is right though, our DS's will be too young to be trained, sadly. Will give it a little go though, especially as it will be summer (hopefully!) so they will be able to run around with bare bums a lot...

JoCheshire10 · 28/03/2013 16:12

Guider-completely agree! My social life is non existent! Whilst I started to feel less tired at about 12 weeks, it's come back with a vengeance and all I want to do is sleep :-) meant to be out on Sunday night, but can't imagine going out after 9 when I've been asleep by then for weeks!! Confused

Ready-I decided not to watch as know I'll just worry afterwards and don't need another excuse to worry

BinarySolo · 28/03/2013 16:22

nerual my son will be 2 in May and I don't think he's at all ready for potty training. I think it depends on how good their language skills are or at least the ability to communicate they need to go! My friend's ds is 2 1/2 and is just potty trained.

OP posts:
jennimoo · 28/03/2013 16:42

I think it's possible to potty train earlier but it will be hard going and take ages, and personally id wait til baby is 6months + and start trying then if DD was younger. I find it very stressful (just cleared up massive wee wee off the floor while in loads of pain coughing...) so would be tempted to wait til DD decided she wanted to...

Creamtea1 · 28/03/2013 17:02

Congrats jammy ! Now the gender questionnaire :) ..

  • morning sickness y or n?
  • boobs - massive growth or just a bit bigger?
  • did you look at nub theory thing on 12 week scan pic? Flat or angled
  • craving sweet things or salty things?
  • skin ok or spots?
  • weight all on bump or on thighs/bum too
  • heartbeat bpm when they listened with Doppler?
  • any gut feelings yourself?
  • Chinese gender chart said....?
  • legs hairier or the same?

I think that's it!

fl0b0t · 28/03/2013 17:16

eek- I had a scarily vivid dream about shouting at a lady on the counter of Lloyds bank (I don't bank there) as she wouldn't change me 40Euro notes because the corners were damaged- a "sure sign" they'd be counted by druglords......

Badguider hahahahah social life?! I am the busiest person I know (weekend bike rides, pub trips, friends for dinner etc etc) and I've barely left the house (bar work) for 10 weeks. We are going to the pub tonight (but I'm too tired), then a housewarming tomorrow and EAster roast with friends on Sunday. I plan to sleep all of saturday and all of Monday. :-S

fl0b0t · 28/03/2013 17:45

Oh just to add.... my friends are awesome. The twins just turned up with two massive bags FULL of summer maternity clothes. About the right size....... TWO BAGS. Two pairs of jeans, about 5 pairs of leggins, dresses, tops... the works. I LOVE MY FRIENDS! (off for a private fashion show)

Poonli · 28/03/2013 17:53

Hi All - I'm having a boy!

  • morning sickness y or n? Nope none!
  • boobs - massive growth or just a bit bigger? 2 cup sizes
  • did you look at nub theory thing on 12 week scan pic? Flat or angled: no idea
  • craving sweet things or salty things? No cravings
  • skin ok or spots? Spots :(
  • weight all on bump or on thighs/bum too Just on bump (I was a size 4 to start though)
  • heartbeat bpm when they listened with Doppler? 165
  • any gut feelings yourself? Boy and knew it!
  • Chinese gender chart said....? Boy
  • legs hairier or the same? The same

Conclusion: I'm incredibly boring.................................

Creamtea1 · 28/03/2013 18:29

Ooh poonli thanks :) I think there are a lot of boy pointers there except for heartrate which is allegedly a girl heartrate. They do say that the gut instinct of the mum is often right too and you said you were sure. Will have to see what jammy says too!

Eeeknumber3 · 28/03/2013 18:32

Hello ladies, has anyone had a previous baby with pyloric stenosis and had subsequently unaffected babies? My daughter had it, which is rare, nearly always first born boys and my son (older) was unaffected! It's relatively straightforward to diagnose and the operation is also small and nearly always permanently successful. However, I've just scared myself by googling likelihood of reoccurence in future pregnancies...as it was my daughter that had it, it's a 1:5 chance for a boy and 1:14 for a girl. Wish I'd not looked, as I say it's not life threatening or a long term problem, but it was still really horrible and we had 2 weeks of projectile vomiting before she was diagnosed, by which point she was dehydrated and malnourished, then we had a week in alderhey...oh well, at least I'd know what I was looking for, just really depressed myself...

Kittenkatzen · 28/03/2013 18:44

Ooh two boys and a girl so far, congrats girls Grin - you lot are tempting me to want to find out!

eeek I've no experience but that doesn't sound fun at all. Like you say though you'd know what to look for this time so even if it did reoccur you should escape the weeks of worrying at least. Thanks for you.

Yy to zero social life...especially during the week as I have a long commute so the evenings are written off before they start!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 28/03/2013 18:49

Eeeek no experience, but hopefully your experience this time would be easier as you would know what to look out for.

I had a day feeling NOT SICK yesterday! Unfortunately, it is back with a vengeance today :( Also have developed a v nasty cough just in time for the first day of the Easter hols, and we are off to Brittany on Monday. Aaargh! MIL has had terrible flu that started with a cough, but I have had the jab, so am crossing fingers that mine doesn't develop into anything nasty.

On the lovely side, am definitely feeling movements now :) Much teenier and weenier than I remember it feeling with the others, but I was about 22 weeks before I felt anything either other time, and am 17+3 today.

Dorita75 · 28/03/2013 19:26

I heard the heartbeat today!!!! Found straight away, good and strong. I feel more pregnant!
