Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

That is good to hear your saw a Dr about it and have something to take. Keep us posted on if it helps - got my fingers crossed for you Smile. Must be hard at work though having not announced things yet and feeling unwell.

Lets hope the MS settles once you reach 12 wks. Gosh makes me feel very lucky I only ever felt nauseous in 1st trimester and never vomited once.

Hooya · 31/05/2013 12:10

Hello everyone! Work taking over life again... Good luck to those about to pop! MrsAVB hope your sickness gets better fast, and waves good luck getting some calories in and staying in! MrsBri now I am scared of lightning crotch!!

I have to go to the UK again next week! I am going to bring a spare case and fill it with Hula Hoops Grin having done most of the important shopping last time.

Had my 24 week scan (the monthly scans are getting a bit less exciting here!) and all still well, though the wee bugger hid behind his hands for the 4-D scan, he looks like a boxer with his guard up Grin but means we couldn't see his face!

Also started reading up more and mentally preparing for my C-section (ok, in truth my massive scar-friendly pants arrived from M&S which reminded me to start mentally preparing!). I'm worried it will be such a big shock - the whole thing is so fast, it's going to be surreal to show up at the hospital at 8am and probably have a baby by 10!

MrsBri · 31/05/2013 12:34

Ha ha, sorry Hooya! It is bloody painful though, so best you're aware of it. Mine has been on and off since yesterday. Not good!

A case full of Hula Hoops sounds rather awesome, I have to say!

I imagine knowing the exact date and almost time of arrival is quite odd. Though in a way I'd prefer that to the unknown entity I have.

Right, I need to drag my heavily pregnant arse out of the bath now. And heave.... :-)

GaryBuseysTeeth · 31/05/2013 12:36

20weeks old Tired?! Shock

Hope the sweep wasn't too painful Child (cheers MrsAVB for the imagine of Sooty & Sweep doing it, still cracking me up) & your shooting pains have come to something!

Hope the cyclizine helps & doesn't make you too knackered MrsAVB.

Hooya, can't believe you're 24wks, I can really see the appeal of knowing what date/time you're going to give birth Envy
Enjoy Hula Hoop shopping next week..suddenly got a massive craving for Pickled Onion Monster Munch!

Not much going on here, had whooping cough jab today.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Hooya · 31/05/2013 13:17

GBT now I have added Pickled Onion Monster Munch to my list going to need another suitcase

MrsBri I don't think I'll risk the bath when more pregnant, I already find getting up off the sofa a lot more effort than I'm happy with!

I might go to bed soon. It's 9.15pm here Blush how pathetic. Many of my colleagues are still at work!

Kittenkatzen · 31/05/2013 14:02

Shock hooya how could hula hoops not feature on your list of "important shopping"?! Priorities woman!

mrsavb hope the meds work and you're feeling better soon!

ChildOfThe1980s · 31/05/2013 20:26

I had lots of pains until about midnight last night and was convinced that I was going into labour. Nope. No BHs at all today! Glad the lightning crotch has stopped though.

Actually, the sooty and sweep wasn't at all painful Gary, thankfully. My DH remembers hearing the MW say that I was 2 cm dilated, so I'll have that. She fitted two fingers up there (nice) so I guess there must've been some dilation? Not really sure how it works.

MrsBri Next steps are being induced next Friday (7 June). I am very afraid of this happening (I think it's why I needed an epidural and then forceps and evil stitches last time) so am definitely going to have the baby naturally by then! (I hope and pray.)

Hope you feel much better soon MrsAVB

Hooya I can't remember why you are having a C-section? It must be nice to know the birth day.

Hooya · 01/06/2013 03:01

Oooh good luck Child hope you go into labour soon! Have you started all the curry eating / shagging etc to try to bring it on? Grin

I'm having a C-section for a couple of reasons - very high rate of emergency CS where I'm giving birth, fear, vag-related concerns etc! And since DP is taking time off with me the recovery will be better than if I were on my own (still scary though, I am very bad with pain). I might still change my mind but it's lovely not having to fear labour, and knowing that the baby's birthday will be 10th September (unless I go into labour v early of course) is lovely if strange!

Smile Kitten I ate so many while I was there Blush and brought back but have finished them already... I was like some kind of pregnant crisp monster!

StuckOnARollercoaster · 01/06/2013 08:53

Fingers crossed for you child and hope something happens for you naturally before Friday. Just thinking out loud, here our midwives offer acupuncture to try and kick things off - even if it's not standard in your area would it be something worth sorting out yourself?

I left a message yesterday to see if I can have some next week - the thought of going 1-2 weeks overdue is not appealing. Am feeling very teary and want to get things done around the house but can't because either bump is in way or I'm tired which just makes me even more teary. Pretty certain it's normal behaviour but I'd like to be back to my old calm self ahead of labour rather than this tear monster!

Hooya - sounds like a sensible plan as it will make it easier for you to cope with. Oh and in your bag I would have to add quavers and skips!!

So hope everyone has a good weekend - should be a good one for those of us in UK. Am off to get some washing on the line and try to chill out and not get burnt (am v pale and last time it was sunny I was surprised how much more sensitive I was to the sun, which turned out to be another pg symptom - so stay safe in the sun ladies!!!)

Hooya · 02/06/2013 01:42

My sympathies Stuck, to be honest I am starting to dread being heavily pregnant when it starts to get really inconvenient and teary! I've already had some tearful moments in the last couple weeks...

I read that about the sun - a timely reminder, I love lying in the sun but I do try to avoid it anyway due to skin ageing / danger etc, but it was gorgeous here yesterday and I was so close to going and laying out on the balcony!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend - today I will be working (boo) and cleaning out cupboards to make way for baby stuff (yay / boo!)

Kittenkatzen · 02/06/2013 06:20

Ohhhh yy to being super sensitive to the sun, I keep forgetting and ending up a bit singed around the edges.

stuck and child really hope you're both feeling ok and we have a couple of new arrivals soon!

I'm suffering a bit with insomnia the last few days, getting to sleep is fine it's staying asleep that's the problem - 3.30am on Friday, 4.45am yesterday and 5.30am today. Anyone else had this and got any tips?

Had to sit through a 5 min lecture from a friend yesterday about how she can't understand why anyone would breastfeed as its all a bit icky and she doesn't really "get it" - she wasn't breast fed and she's still alive...oh and my baby had better not spit up on her apparently as then she'd be "wearing kitten" and that would be be soooooo wrong. Gah. I just fixed a fake smile on my face and made noncommittal noises whilst screaming "FFS how old are you??!" in my head.

Also managed to offend my mum yesterday when she mentioned in passing about how I'd be bf'ing 10 mins each side....instead of just smiling and nodding I spouted off what i've read about how that's old advice and foremilk and hind milk blah blah blah. I knew i should shut up as it was neither the time or the place, but I couldn't seem to make my mouth stop talking Confused

I'm blaming the lack of sleep for making me grumpy and over sensitive.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 02/06/2013 12:04

Hello fellow just shaggers

BabyFrus is 18days old today, I was induced at 37wks, (obstetric cholestasis) he's growing fast and putting on weight well, I dread to think how big he'd have been if I'd gone to full term.

kitten don't feel bad about correcting people about breastfeeding, there is a generation (my parents age) of mothers who were the focus of a formula feeding marketing boom.

tiredteddy · 02/06/2013 21:59

Oh Kitten, that two very frustrating conversations to have had in one day! When the time comes smile, ignore and say "I'm just following the new up to date guidelines and baby kitten is doing very well on it thank you! "

FRustrated, congratulations on babyfrus safe if a little early arrival. Glad to hear he's doing so well. I hope you are too. Smile

Hooya · 02/06/2013 23:54

Congrats Frustrated glad you are all well with your early arrival Flowers

And hello tired can't believe how old lovely Fern is! Time is FLYING!

Kitten sounds like you did bloody well in both cases not to lose it! It is incredible how much 'wisdom' you get from people isn't it! And difficult when you really want to set them straight but it's just not worth it though I often try anyway

Hope everyone has a great week - my DP is in some work negotiations this week which are pretty serious as they might involve him taking only 3 months off with me and not the originally planned 6, so we are looking for nannies... but unsettling and I'm reading lots of conflicting advice as usual on what's best for the baby... wish this were all simpler!

ChildOfThe1980s · 03/06/2013 03:43

Congrats Frustrated :)

Kitten I am very pro breastfeeding, and luckily no-one has questioned my opinions on this. My Mum BF all her kids for several months, so I have a lot of support from her.

Well, I think I'm in labour. I've been getting regular contractions since 3 in the afternoon yesterday. I am currently getting one every 5-8 minutes, although they are still not too bad- just using breathing to stay calm. I can't sleep between them anymore, so have reluctantly got up to have a bath and snack.

Let's see how it goes- hopefully I will have a baby by the end of the day! I'm going to stay at home for as long as possible, and then head for the birthing unit in the hope that there's a birthing pool free for me.

Pineapple80 · 03/06/2013 04:11

Thinking of you Child!! And good luck Smile.

Congrats Frustrated, what lovely news!!!

Kitten - I hear you with the insomnia, unfortunately I haven't got any advice as I still wake every morning around 3-4am usually for a toilet break. Most times I fall back asleep but when baby is kicking up a storm it gets very distracting! Can also relate to general pregnancy related comments being annoying at times. Just have to let them slide and try to smile! I often get comments like "you should eat more" and "your bump is so small" but understand that most people just say what they think without much thought and don't realise we can be sensitive or bothered by it. I admit I am the most emotional terror lately, though had a lovely relaxing and productive weekend. Have had a lot of BH overnight, that also keeps me awake sometimes!

Hooya - hope all goes well with your DPs work matters and you all work something out. It can be a bit stressful trying to plan ahead with uncertainty.

Tired - so good to see you here! Can't believe Fern is 20 wks already!! Time really does fly Grin.

Well it is my last week of work finally! Feeling happy and sad about it actually. Happy to be able to get a bit of a rest and also anxious as this will
mean neither myself nor DH is working at the moment Sad. He is still looking for work and we're hoping something comes up soon. Quite a stressful time actually but have promised myself to focus on baby and the upcoming induction in less than 2 wks time.

How is everyone else doing? Wishing you all a good week ahead Smile

ChildOfThe1980s · 03/06/2013 06:25

Off for a walk and then up to the hospital - cx about 5-7 minutes apart.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 03/06/2013 06:49

Oh good luck child how exciting.

Kittenkatzen · 03/06/2013 07:29

Oooh child so exciting!! Hope you're doing well, can't wait to hear about little child's arrival! Grin

hooya tricky decisions to make then - thing is there will always be conflicting advice on pretty much everything if you look hard enough. I think that in the end it comes down to making the best decision for your family, and if a nanny is what you need then I'm sure you'll find a lovely one who adores your little boy and all will be well Smile

Thanks for the bf support everyone. My mum is v pro bf and will be supportive, i just chose the wrong moment that's all. Friend thing was annoying though, good job you're all so lovely!

pineapple sorry you're suffering with the insomnia too, sucks doesn't it? Doesn't help in conjunction with raging hormones and dumb comments! You're right though, most people are just making conversation without really thinking - I know I must be guilty of it somewhere along the line too.

StuckOnARollercoaster · 03/06/2013 08:20

All the best child - hopefully things progress well today and you'll be having newborn snuggles by the evening -so eexciting!

And congrats frustrated as you are having those snuggles :-)

MrsBri · 03/06/2013 08:35

Congrats, frustrated :-)

And yay for child. I'll wave my labour pom poms for you!

And boo for people who make irritating comments. I've not really had any, so have been lucky. It may help that since the beginning of April I've barely seen anybody thanks to working from home and then finishing work. There is at least one positive to being isolated in a town where you have no friends or family! :-/

Hooya, would you both go back to work after 3 months? I vaguely remember you saying something about that ages ago. Good luck in your decision making. It can't be easy, but it'll all work out for the best.

Yay for finishing work, pineapple. Boo to money stress though :-( I hope something comes along soon. Does the Oz government pay benefits?

Just managed to let out a little bit of wee while sneezing in bed. Marvellous :-/ At least I am testing the absorbent pads!

And I'm finally having to get up at night for a wee. I did get away with it for a long time. Hopefully it means baby is in a better position now. Midwife later, so will find out. :-)

She can also check out my swollen hands and feet. It's all glamour at the business end of pregnancy!

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 03/06/2013 08:42

mrsbri you don't itch do you? My hands and feet swelled up with my cholosistasis. (Although I'm not sure whether its linked or not)

wavesandsmiles · 03/06/2013 08:54

Congratulations Frustrated, and all the best for today Child.

Hope all goes well with the MW today MrsBri.

I woke up at around 5, and couldn't get properly back to sleep, although tried to doze a little. DD was bouncing around like tigger from 6 as she was so excited to be going back to school! 32 weeks tomorrow for me, and yes, I am still being sick. Today I am going to attempt a trip to Boots to get my free changing bag and a couple of hospital bag bits....

MrsBri · 03/06/2013 09:00

I itch like buggery, Frus. I had clear blood tests two weeks ago at the hospital as I got tested ASAP when it started. They gave me Piriton and told me to go back if it continued.

I'm hoping the midwife can take my bloods again today as it is a ball ache going to Ormskirk all the time.

Don't worry, I'm onto it :-)

OP posts:
tiredteddy · 03/06/2013 10:17

Good luck child!!!
