Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

Hi all,
Wow babies grow fast! i remember 3 months with DD, it was like a huge milestone, you start to feel more normal again (I found).

something sorry to hear about henry, and lack of wine.

Dont think I will be trying castor oil. My consultant wont be allowing me to go far over 40 wks as it is. Had final scan today, which shows baby has suddenly ballooned, so they will want to induce me again if I actually reach my due date! There are no signs of baby making an early appearance tho, but Il continue with rasberry leaf tea and epo anyway. Really excited to have such a definite end (2 weeks tops) in sight, but so scared about another induction!

WingDefence · 11/04/2013 01:10

Yawn! Shock

ChildOfThe1980s · 11/04/2013 09:57

Thanks guys, I think I'll need to get some raspberry leaf tea then. What's epo?

I have a massage today - woop woop.

MrsBri · 11/04/2013 12:28

Wing...tiring? That's something to say!

Child, EPO is evening primrose oil. Hope you enjoy the massage. :-)

Baby B has gone from kicky to wriggly. Not sure if because he's turned round or because of less room. Really weird now have little baby outline on my belly. He lies as far forwards as possible. Still shoving me lots. I really am in his way!

Interesting re re-registering. Not heard of that before.

quick hello to all...
Isn't it wierd how now I'm on maternity leave I thought I'd be on here loads - but it turns out mumsnet was my guilty coffee/lunch break secret while at work and now I'm not there I haven't been quite as regular at reading and updating.

Have done a big shop this week and got lots of lovely baby goodies - a mattress for the cot, plus various nappies, creams and maternity pads.

Other big news (not!) as of yesterday I have officially lost my nice 'inny' belly button :-( currently flat but suspect as I'm only 31 weeks its going to become an 'outy' before the end.

Also here's what I've been working on and have finished for babystuck!

Dysgu · 11/04/2013 18:56

stuck that looks lovely - gorgeous colours and love the hat too!

Tired yes apparently it is a legal requirement to reregister after marriage - TBH I have no problem with my children being illegitimate, after all thry were born 'out of wedlock' - although I am no fussed about marriage/religion. By reregistering, does that make them legitimate?

Tomorrow we are off to the mainland just for one night. We are staying in a Holiday Inn so I am hoping they don't have a problem with there being 5 people in the room. Can't see why they should although website does say maximum of 4 per room but Evan won't need a bed or breakfast.

tiredteddy · 11/04/2013 19:38

STUCK! Loving your work. It's absolutely gorgeous. Lucky baby stuck x

Pineapple80 · 12/04/2013 03:55

Enjoy your massage Child!

Stuck - beautiful blanket and hat! So lovely Smile! I restarted a blanket I'm knitting last weekend and you've totally inspired me to keep at it! Mine was started way before getting pregnant but it is neutral coloured so could use it as tummy time mat I sorts maybe?

MrsBri - ooh same here with wriggling baby. My bump is harder lately and must be baby's back? Tends to move a bit but bump has increased in size lately! If I'm daring enough, may post a bump pic on FB group this weekend Smile.

Sooo glad it's Friday and almost the weekend here. Been a tiring week for me, not sure why I'm tired but must be the 3rd trimester tiredness setting in?

Mind has been on labour lately. Been reading and trying to prepare myself! Classes start next month and looking forward to them because DH will get an opportunity to be more involved. I figure there is only so much I can tell him from my reading, a class would be so much more informative for him!

Quick question! Lady at work asked me if I had bottles and steriliser bought. I don't! I plan to BF so have not even thought about it!!Confused Do I need them or would it be ok to get them if required (for expressing etc given BF works out for me) after baby is born?

Have a wonderful Friday ladies!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/04/2013 09:10

Ahh the joys of third trimester tiredness Pineapple - just sort of creeps up on you I find. Hope you manage to have a restful weekend. Re. bottles: With DD I knew I wanted to BF but I bought bottles and steriliser during pregnancy and I wish I had saved my money ... DD wouldn't even entertain a bottle! To say I exclusively BF her I spent a fortune on different bottles/teats etc Grin . I wish I had waited until I wanted to introduce one before buying a whole set and a steriliser - I would probably have bought just one bottle to see if she liked it and saved myself a fair bit of money. Of course you may have an easily fed baby like DS who didn't care where his milk came from Grin .

I also think that in the early days when you're tired and hormonal post-birth and if BFing is trickier than you imagined having the bottles there can act as a bit of a crutch (just my opinion though). I think getting baby to take EBM (or FF if you decide that's what you want) from a bottle can be really handy but IMO its the sort of thing you can decide and buy when you need them rather than beforehand. That being said I have bought this breastpump this time because it is half price and the bottle is self-sterilising (in the microwave) which means I won't have to buy a seperate steriliser. I have bought this for the pump though and if miniGuinea decides to take the bottle then that will be a bonus.

I am still in bed - DH has taken DCs to the childminders for me as I am absolutely exhausted. Still getting episodes of strong contractions. The massage therapist I saw the other day (who is also a doula) thinks I may be having a long pre-labour as a way of getting baby into a good position - apparently long phases like these are common with OP presentation babies, which miniGuinea is, or certainly has been until now. The abdominal massage was wonderful by the way.

I've done a MAMMOTH online shop which should be arriving in an hour or so. I plan to spend the day chopping, cooking and freezing in preparation for baby's eventual arrival. Plus I get to use my new freezer which I am extremely excited about Blush .

For those having third/last babies (just Tired and Dysgu?) how did you feel towards the end of your pregnancies? I'm feeling a bit a lot mixed. Most of me desperately wants miniGuinea here to meet her, but part of me wants to keep her as a baby for as long as possible and this is really the last time I'm going to be pregnant. Ending that feels bittersweet somehow. I know that once she comes out of my belly she's going to start growing so fast and before I know it she'll be big - which is of course the joy of watching them grow up. I suppose though I feel a bit sad that this is the end of an 'era' - my time in life as a birthing woman/mother.

I was wondering if this is why my body isnt letting go and labouring, because emotionally I'm not quite ready to let go yet Hmm ? Does that sound weird and hippyish?! If that is the reason then I'm really not sure what to do about it!

tiredteddy · 12/04/2013 12:32

GUINEA, I know exactly what you mean. Even in the last weeks of pregnancy I tried to enjoy it and treasure the feeling of carrying a child as the plan is that fern is our last. And now she's here I'm trying not to rush her though the stages but to enjoy the time whilst she is so small. I think it's been easy to enjoy her because the boys are at school so I can have some proper 1:1 time with my baby. I spend lots of time just cuddling her and ignoring the housework Wink. I want the time to go slowly...

Pineapple80 · 12/04/2013 13:45

Thanks for the advice on bottles etc Guinea! So helpful to hear people's experiences. You sound so very organised with food prep etc!! I can only hope I can be so organised myself when the time comes. Smile

GaryBuseysTeeth · 12/04/2013 13:54

Guinea, we're probably on our last baby here (can't afford to move for the next 3/4 years, DH turning 40 soon & doesn't want to be an old dad) & if I think about it, I cry...I love being a mum, I love having babies (shit at being pregnant!) & it feels unfair that we've had to make a sensible decision whereas other people I know just pop babies out with ease/without thinking about providing for their futures.

Pineapple, I'd pick up one or two bottles and a cheapy sterlisier this tommee tippee can fit Dr.Browns/Philips Advent in too with ease.
You never know if you'll get mastitis or be on anti-b's in the first few weeks!
Other thing to bear in mind is the formula shortage atm, we're planning on ff & if by the end of next month supply is not back to normal we'll be adding a carton on to each shop (due early Aug).

Stuck, looks gorgeous!

22+6wks today!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/04/2013 16:26

Glad it's not just me then. I'm looking forward to spending some 1:1 time with miniGuinea when DS & DD are at school/preschool - am definitely in favour of baby cuddles over house work!

I had a morning of frantic cleaning - decided to clean and organise my medicine drawers you know, as you do Confused Didn't get round to cooking meals but was very pleased to put lots of food in my fridge.

WingDefence · 12/04/2013 17:21

Nesting! Grin

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/04/2013 18:55

Grin Wing.

Met a friend this afternoon at a softplay centre. on the way out I went over on my ankle and faceplanted the floor Blush . Obviously with me being so pregnant this caused major panic from everyone passing by. An ambulance was called and someone went to get a GP from the Drs surgery down the road. The Dr was lovely and whilst we waited for the ambulance she took me to the surgery and listened to miniGuinea's heart rate and took my blood pressure. Both were fine which was reassuring. The paramedics wanted to take me to A&E but I declined as I know my ankle is fine, if not a little sore.

Just spoken to MAC and they are happy - they said the chances of hurting the baby are minimal, especially given all the extra fluid Smile . Apparently I have to have a nice warm bath to stop me seizing up which is a shame.

I know where DS gets his clumsiness from! Hope you've all had less eventful afternoons!

notsoold · 12/04/2013 23:20

Delurking!!!

Had my 12 week scan today and everything seems normal. NT was 1.4mm and bloods taken.
I am so relieved as I was in a state thinking that things had gone badly but LO is well....

Guinea...glad you are unharmed!!!

Wing :)

Waving at everyone...xxxx

WingDefence · 13/04/2013 00:03

Blimey Guinea Shock - glad you're okay. Notso, that's great news :)

Hooya · 13/04/2013 02:27

Hello all! Gosh Guinea glad you're ok, and notso that's brilliant news! Grin also blondies too!

Rock so very sad, best of luck.

Guinea I was very touched by what you and GBT and tired wrote about last baby, it was lovely. This is our first but for various reasons will probably be our only baby, and I so know what you mean about wanting to kind of savour every part of it somehow!

Here it's all about work - quite good fun but crazy hours. DP is getting a bit Hmm about whether I'm supposed to be doing 14-hour days when 17 weeks pregnant, but I figure as long as I'm feeling ok and not stressing or upset, I should be fine... Looking forward to a week and a half off at the end of April for our UK trip though - Boots, M&S, John Lewis etc are going to look like they've been burgled after I'm done Grin And I can't wait to see my mum and dad and show them my bump which had better be more baby and less bread by the time I get there

WingDefence · 13/04/2013 04:30

Hiya Hooya!

I did fairly long hours during my pregnancy but as I work from home it wasn't too horrendous, just v tiring. As long as you don't overdo it and rest when you can, I think it's probably fine to take advantage of the relative burst of energy you get in the 2nd trimester. Is all your healthcare private when you're abroad - can you double check with them?

In other news, swaddling seems to help DD to go to bed in her Moses basket. We didn't have to do it with DS but she kept waking up every time we put her down even if she was sound asleep but this seems to stop that happening.

Right, feed has finished. Back to bed...!

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 10:16

Stuck, what a lovely hat and blanket. You're very talented. :-) Puts my cross stitch to shame!

And my belly button is currently no longer an inny, but also not a proper outy either. Makes me feel sick! 30+2 today.

And bloody hell, Guinea, I'm glad you're both ok. Must have been alarming initially.

Hooya, I worked much longer hours during my second trimester. Couldn't do it now though, and work are looking after me after my train faint / higher BP last week, so I now work from home until I finish (a week earlier than planned on 3rd May, but only works out as 4 days' difference with regard to maternity pay, what with bank holidays, so I'll cope!).

As Wing says, make the most of feeling good in the second trimester as you may get a shock when trimester 3 hits!

I hope to hear of your UK shopping antics on the news...whirlwind supermarket sweep stylee?! :-)

We spent a lovely hour in bed watching Baby B do his Alien impression this morning. So funny.

What is also sweet is how he reacts to me and DH differently. For me, if I place my hand on my belly and he's awake, he will come and hit / kick me.

With DH, he will play the foot pushing game, i.e. DH pushes foot, Baby B pushes back. He doesn't do that for me! It's interesting :-)

Lovely weather today. Need to get in the garden, I think.

Oh, and it is so lovely to hear about how those of you on your last baby feel about it. So sweet and touching.

Hooya · 13/04/2013 13:18

Hello Wing! That's good to know re hours, I am lucky as I do get a taxi in a lot of mornings (DP has a leg injury just now so we have an excuse) so working in office is not too much different from working at home, hopefully. Doc says it's fine, he's sure it's situation normal so I guess I shouldn't worry Smile

MrsBri that's lovely about babyB, I am Envy as I can't wait to feel the baby! Glad work are taking care of you too, are you really looking forward to being off soon?

I am dreading my belly button popping out! Is there any chance that won't happen? Hmm

tiredteddy · 13/04/2013 13:56

Try not to worry HOOYA my belly button never popped our with and of my pregnancies. Just kind went flat.

MrsBri · 13/04/2013 13:58

I'm quite lucky, Hooya, as I've been feeling quickening since about 10 weeks and I got my first kick at something like 14-15 weeks when baby took offence to my tight trousers! It is quite sweet how he acts though :-)

I cannot wait to finish work. My heart and head aren't really in it any more. Though I'm a bit better now I'm not travelling in.

And I'm not sure about belly buttons. Mine was a really deep inny, so I wouldn't like to say that it won't happen. Sorry!

ChildOfThe1980s · 13/04/2013 17:18

Great news Notso :D

I do like being pregnant, and especially feeling baby move, but I am looking forward to having baby out now, even though am worried about the horrendous lack of sleep (if this one's anything like DS was - I think I actually went mad from sleep deprivation.)

This will almost certainly be our last, unless we have a happy accident one day- but that's not likely.

I don't think my belly button popped out last time, and it's still very inny at 33 weeks now.

We had a family photo shoot thanks to a friend's kindness today. The pictures look great, can't wait to see the prints and scrapbook them.

wavesandsmiles · 13/04/2013 21:19

Good news notso and hello hooya Smile

I'm still being sick and today, without any real warning, I ended up having a PICC line inserted. It was a wee bit scary, but means an end to the regular re-sitings of the cannula. Basically, my veins are pretty much on strike, and the cannulas were getting harder and harder to site and not lasting long. As I need daily IV treatment of 1 - 2 litres of fluids daily, and IV anti-emetics, it was essential they got something sorted that will last long-term. If I don't improve, this can potentially stay in til my little acrobat actually arrives. Even the anaesthetist was suprised at the state of my veins. The PICC line goes through one of the "larger" upper arm veins, which should be around 7.5mm wide - my biggest one was less than 3mm. Apparently this is due to the ongoing dehydration.

No belly button gossip from me, but I do have a real bump now, albeit rock hard as I seem to have lost pretty much most of my body fat during the first 24 weeks of this pregnancy. I'm due on the 30th July, but when I see my consultant formally next week, we will chat about maybe inducing me a bit early if this all carries on. Still yet to gain any weight, and from the 2nd trimester this becomes more of a risk to the baby. I think this is why I have to be at hospital every single day now for rehydration. They are also making sure I have a cooked hospital lunch every day after my IV anti emetics, to get as much into me calorei-wise during the non-sick period of the day. How lucky am I Confused the one time I can eat in the day, and it is hospital food - the choice isn't great, but harder still when you are pregnant and vegetarian!

Still, I am hugely relieved that I don't need to have any more cannulas. If I wasn't so upduffed, I would be celebrating with Wine
