Shagged Out Viroids 7th Thread! From conception to birth...living proof that JSing really does work!

MrsBri · 04/03/2013 21:03

Hello and welcome to another shiny fred for Just Shagging graduates!

The last fred was nice and busy so fingers crossed we get lots more members

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw a few births, including one set of twins, and this one promises to be fruitful also with a number of us nearing the end of the 9 month wait!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 14th thread.

Sorry for your loss Rockchick - hope you have a speedy recovery and the next stage isn't too awful.

Great news about your scan Blondies, congrats!

Hope everyone else is ok. It was (is) my birthday today and it's been very busy. Did a few errands this morning, including going to Ikea AGAIN. Think that should be it now though. Then went for a meal at TGI Friday's with DCs, DM and DGM. Then I ended up in Toys R Us of all places Confused . Got a new board Orchard Tots game to play with DCs (we love board games in our house) but managed to escape relatively unscathed.

For my birthday I have pooled my birthday money and bought a new fridge freezer Blush . It's arriving on Thursday and I'm very excited! Our current freezer is so small I can't freeze meals and always end up making far too much but this one is lovely and big and half price tooSmile . I'm planning on spending Friday cooking and freezing meals for when DD arrives.

TMI alert - I've had lots of pant snot in this pregnancy recently and tonight it was slightly pink tinged. Could this be a show or is it more obvious than that? Not done the whole spontaneous labour thing so not sure what to expect Hmm .

On a separate matter, my sleep bras came from Jojomamanbebe today and they are sooo comfortable - I can highly recommend.

MrsBri · 09/04/2013 00:46

Happy birthday, Guinea.

Here's hoping it's a show :-)

Which fridge freezer did you get and where from as I need one too? #ialsoleadaglamorouslife

Rock - really sorry to hear about this, do take care x

Blondies - congrats to you, lovely news!

Happy birthday Guinea! Hope you had a lovely day Smile.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 09/04/2013 04:38

We chose this one MrsBri. We currently have a Beko and have had it for years with no problems. Silver matches our other appliances, plus it's such a good offer!

I'm currently trying to decide if I feel slightly sick because I am hungry and therefore want to eat something, or whether I am just feeling nauseous Confused .

MrsBri · 09/04/2013 06:10

Thank you. We have a Beko washing machine which is fine too.

Did you try to eat anything?

Practising, have you looked into what sideeffects Castor Oil might have on you/baby? I wouldn't advise it.
Enjoy the raspberry leaf, it's...urm...lovely.

We have a Beko, it was the large freezer space out of the combined fridge/freezers but considering how good their products are on catching fire I've gone off them as a brand.
We've just bought a dishwasher from applicancesonline would recommend having a look there, £30-60 cheaper than Currys & they have video reviews on most things.

Guinea hope it's a show & you had a lovely birthday!
This one is due shortly before DH's birthday & I think secretly he wants to share a birthdate Grin

tiredteddy · 09/04/2013 09:48

Practising, my friend who is a nurse and mother of four, took castor oil when due with her third. She says it was brutal. Very fast and very painful. She didn't with number four. Could be coincidence? Raspberry leaf tea sounds a safe bet. Good luck.

Hope it's a show guinea!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 09/04/2013 09:48

I bought our dishwasher on appliances online and whilst they are generally cheaper this fridge freezer from Currys gave us the most capacity for the price. I hadn't heard of this fire thing until my mum mentioned it but I figured Currys wouldn't be selling it if there was a known problem with this model - really hope so anyway.

I had a bit of fruit and finally managed to get back to sleep at 6.30am but I'm exhausted now! So wished DCs still napped but they are 6.5 and 3.5 so maybe a little much to ask at this stage Grin .

I've heard not good things about castor oil too. I didn't mind the raspberry leaf tea but it has never successfully brought on labour for me. Someone suggested evening primrose oil the other day. She has had to be induced with her first 3 children at 42 weeks this will be me and the 4th, where she used EPO, was the only one where she went into spontaneous labour. Completely anecdotal so not sure its much help.

somethingwittynot · 09/04/2013 12:13

been away and missed so much!!

rock im very sorry for your loss.

please do not take castor oil. henry pooed in me in distress and inhaled it. due to this he ended up in nicu then scbu and they had to breath for him to start with and he had a ng tube.

sooo henry is 8 weeks old and weighs 8lb15oz following the 2nd percentile steadily. ordered myself a mei tai and have sold my double! probably mad but we will see.

hope all bumps and babies are good!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 09/04/2013 12:52

Glad Henry is doing well. I am so looking forward to using my carriers again - very exciting Something.

After doing a bit more research about EPO it seems it is not recommended as apparently it can weaken the amniotic membranes and cause your waters to break but without initiating contractions - making augmentation more not less likely. Not that I need much help contracting. Plus I really want to avoid my waters breakng before I'm in labour, otherwise I'll have to traipse to the hospital to get checked and it's a faff. My new mantra is 'I am just going to be patient'. (Please remind me of this in a couple of weeks when I'm tearing my hair out!)

tiredteddy · 09/04/2013 12:57

Hey something! Meitai (sp?) sounds fab! Fern is loving the ergo it's a great carrier too. She's nearly 3 months already time is just flying. I haven't been to get her weighed since her 8 week jabs. How often do you get henry weighed. It's more important for him I guess as he was prem and tiny. Sounds like he's doing well though. Smile

somethingwittynot · 09/04/2013 13:23

because hes on the small percentiles i have to get him weighed every 2 weeks. hes doing well though!

wow i cant believe she is nearly three months only seems like yesterday she was born!

guinea i was going to do epo but never got round to it. I had a curry and that was it for me. Completle myth came true haha!

ChildOfThe1980s · 09/04/2013 16:28

What does raspberry leaf tea do? When can you take it from?

I would love to have Baby a few days early, but I'm just 33 weeks, so mustn't get impatient.

Hope you had a good birthday Guinea and congrats Blondies :D

MrsBri · 09/04/2013 18:12

Child, you apparently take raspberry leaf tea from 32 weeks. It doesn't bring on labour, but is meant to make labour more efficient / effective when it does happen.

3 months, tired?! How the hell did that happen? Surely I should be giving birth by now in that case! Only 30 weeks on Thursday coming.

I'm hoping for a June 11th baby as that's my late gran's birthday (and my ex's, but we will ignore that one!), which will be 13 days before my real due date and 9 days before my revised, scan-given, due date.

I've been really uncomfortable with how baby has been lying today, so an early arrival would suit me just fine! He does need to bloody turn first though, instead of turning and then changing his mind. :-/

OP posts:
GaryBuseysTeeth · 09/04/2013 18:21

Child. it apparently tones the uterus (which is why you avoid it in early pg, could cause mc) which helps ease labour pains and increases milk production.
You can take it from 32wks onwards, between 3-6 cups of the nasty stuff a day.
You're not supposed to take it if you're planning a C-section or have had a short labour previously & apparently it also helps with the postnatal uterus contractions.

Although I guess the best thing for labour is not to be induced early before baby can be bothered with being born Grin

Tired, with respect, I think your poor mother-to-newborn brain is confused, there is no way your DD is almost 3 months old. She was only born a few weeks ago!! Shock

Glad Henry is doing so well something!

We've bought a bushbaby cacoon carrier as apparently it's better for those with upperback problems (me!), so hope it works.

tiredteddy · 09/04/2013 18:40

Seriously ladies she is I promise! she was 12 weeks if counting that way on Sunday and next sat is 13th April. She was born on 13th jan! I was the first bfp and quite a bit ahead of everyone. And I'm not too tired as she's sleeps through (nothing I've done just how she's wired and smiley contented little thing) WinkGrin maybe I should name change!?

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 09/04/2013 18:51

Child raspberry leaf tea is known to have an effect on the uterine muscle, strengthening it for labour. There is no evidence it starts labour or causes productive contractions (i.e. ones that produce changes in the cervix) BUT there is quite a lot of evidence that suggests it shortens the second phase of labour - I suppose its like weight training for the uterus! Given the amount of contractions I've been having I don't think I'll bother this time Grin . As far as I know it can be taken from 34 weeks but many prefer 36 weeks 'just in case'.

Wow, can't believe Fern is 12 weeks already, time really does fly except when you're waiting to have a baby.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 09/04/2013 18:52

Sorry started writing that message ages ago and cross posted with everybody it seems Confused .

WingDefence · 09/04/2013 19:10

Must catch up with everyone on here soon but next job is to get DS to bed :)

wavesandsmiles · 09/04/2013 20:48

Shocked here too that Fern is 3 months already!!

I reached 24 weeks today, which feels quite positive, although I am still poorly. Hoping for a mid as opposed to end of July baby, purely as that will signal the end of this horrid hyperemesis. Both DCs were earlier than due dates, so we will see.

Sending you lots of sympathy rockchick, and hope you are coping ok?

Kittenkatzen · 10/04/2013 07:51

Oh rock that's awful news, I'm so sorry SadSad. Hope you're being looked after x

to everyone else, bit manic busy atm so will catch up with everyone's news properly later. Shock At Fern being 3 months, that's unbelievable!!

Talking of unbelievable - I'm 18 weeks tomorrow...how did that happen?! Grin

somethingwittynot · 10/04/2013 20:39

Today i do not rate 2 under 2. Waiting for indian takeaway am on antibiotics so cant even have much needed wine

Dysgu · 10/04/2013 22:12

Sorry to read your sad news Rock and hope you are taking care of yourself.

Shock to Fern being 12 weeks old and Henry being 8 weeks old. Evan is 4 weeks old tomorrow (I would be 38 weeks today). He is also a chilled baby, so far, and is beginning to spend a bit more time awake each day - but basically he sleeps unless he is hungry. We registered him yesterday so he is 'real' little person now - just need to fill in the form to apply for his CB next.

Also, on a slightly related theme, the registrar said we would have to reregister (all DCs) if we got married. Has this always been the case - she said it would be to change my surname (DCs have DP's surname) but I was just wondering whether this is a fairly recent thing. I have no issue with this but surely my name NOW is the one that should be on their birth certificates. Also, would we need to reregister them if I chose NOT to change my name, IF we got married? (This is just idle wondering but just wondered if anyone knew?)

tiredteddy · 10/04/2013 22:41

Dysgu, I was told the same about reregistering ds1 as he bas born before we got married. The registrar said he is legally am illegitimate child! Shock that was the term she used! So one day I guess we need to do that so all the dc are the same.

tiredteddy · 10/04/2013 22:42

Oh and glad Evan is doing well he looks really cute x
