Morning all, well good news here I'm feeling better but they are taking no chances so I'm on a anti biotic drip and Iv fluids so no Alex again today but hopefully tomorrow. They say he's doing great though, really hungry and only O2 now-he's gonna be ready for discharge before me I'm sure, I can't believe he is nearly 3 months old
I have a dietician appointment today as well as I am still not keeping much food down, not enough anyway.
Rosie- I hope all is well and your cuddling your baby by now, 34 weeks is great there was a baby here born at 34 who didn't even need nicu care.
Teapig-maybe ask for a sling or baby gym? I also second a bouncy chair for everyone, I used mine all the time with ds1 who hated to be out down so the movement convinced him to be out of my arms just long enough for me to pee
Jacqueline and rabbit- I hope the pain eases, I have no experience but it sounds awful.
Cheese-I hope all is ok, thinking of you.
Nottinghill-I hope your babe turns!
Floss- I'm glad babe is staying put, and I hope the infection is easily treated.
Trishstar-I open you have a amazing wedding, such congratulations
sending a million years worth of good wishes.
Glossy- sorry I did read your post but as I said in mine I wasn't able to reply properly yesterday. I can't scroll on my ipad and can't write properly with drips in my arm so I have to try to remember names! This is a amazing group so just jump in.
And on a similar note apologies to anyone I missed here but i Am thinking of you all.
About strep b I asked the nurse and she said basically that they don't screen or treat proactively here as they do in the USA as a positive doesn't mean your a baby would be infected and the anti biotics kill off the good bacteria your baby needs as well. And while anti biotic treatment helps with early infection it doesn't with later and therefore the risks out weigh the benefits iyswim. But if you test positive and have either a risk factor (prem birth, waters leaking, softening cervix etc etc) they would treat. It's a judgement call really. She also said that despite the USA screening programme their statistics for newborn issues with strep b remain pretty much the same.
I hope any of that helps at all.
