Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

Thanks ladies! You guys are too kind xxxx

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 01/03/2013 12:37

Have a wonderful day trish!!

I'm in delivery suite being monitored. Am the only person here, theres a load of midwives sitting at the desk. They said Friday morning is a good time to come in as it's usually quiet GrinGrin

Took a doctor and two midwives to get my bloods though, took six tubes Sad

Trishstar · 01/03/2013 13:23

Sending positive vibes Cheese! xxx

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 01/03/2013 13:26

Oh Blimey cheese! At least you're in the right place and well attended to!

Trish have a wonderful day tomorrow. I adjusted to being 'Mrs' quite quickly, I actually really like it! :) hope it all goes swimmingly.

lutrainae I know of a couple of people who used tens machines during labour. Both said they weren't convinced they were working until one took it off/one the batteries ran out and they realised it was! So I reckon I'll be trying it!

notting I hope your baby turns!

I am feeling loads better. I am a bit surprised because as of yesterday (and even overnight) I felt awful. I struggled to sleep last night but woke up feeling better. Have rung in fit for work as of Monday since I can actually walk without having Braxton hicks all the time now! I managed to clean the kitchen. Who recommended the steam mop? Which one dud you get? I need one!

32+3

Mama1980 · 01/03/2013 13:42

kitkatsz23 · 01/03/2013 15:05

Trishstar Have a lovely day! Enjoy it and concentrate on your day, it goes so quickly.

Cheese Hang in there, thinking of you...and Rosie

Mama Get better quickly! It's great to hear that Alex will be ready to go home soon, yeah!

I had my 32 weeks scan today to see if the placenta shifted or not. Well, it has shifted a little bit but still 14 mm away from cervix so having a 36 weeks scan to see again. If it hasn't moved by then I'll be booked in for a c-section. I had a very unkind, grumpy sonographer who was not helpful at all explaining the situation or the next steps. (I had a lovely one last time) We've asked several questions and she refused to answer them straight and just tried to get rid of us. The whole hospital is in such a chaos. Unless you are bleeding/on your death bed they don't explain you your situation or the next steps. My midwife told me if this scan shows a low lying placenta I should ask to see a consultant and I should be under consultant care from now on. So we demanded to see a doctor and only after seeing one we were told that I should also book an appointment to see my consultant stated in my notes after the next scan and what to do if anything happens before etc. She was surprised at the hospital's attitude and she has even suggested if I struggle to see a consultant in the future I should just go upstairs to the maternity triage and demand to see one. On top of this the whole process is such a non sense, you kind of left to your own devices and figure out your own next steps. They are not telling you anything...argh!

Sorry about the long rant ladies!

Have a nice weekend everybody!

angeltattoo · 01/03/2013 15:39

I had my 34 week appt today, baby is head down but back to back - I had suspected as much. I will have to have a look at spinning babies and get off the sofa!

actually just lurking for a steam mop update as I want one too!

Grin

ooh, have ante-natal class tomorrow, and have seen a breastfeeding class to sing up to. Need to think about birth plan for 36 week appt midwife said.

EmpressMatilda · 01/03/2013 15:56

Have a great day trish. I got married last year and had an absolutely lovely time. Any worries or nerves just vanish once you get going. Enjoy it!

Good luck to all of those going for tests and scans or expecting arrivals somewhat sooner than planned! Good vibes to all of you Smile

Love reading your updates mama I know I don't always comment but I do lurk around on the thread and read them.

I am getting really stressed out by the complications of buying a car as it's becoming apparent lots and lots of cars don't have isofix points. Is driving me mad and I am very Confused

Does anyone else find that their pregnancy symptoms have come full circle? I have nausea, stretching twinges in my tummy and shooting pains in my breasts. It's like being back in week 9 of pregnancy but with a week 35 bump! Very strange!

photochick · 01/03/2013 15:56

I didn't orginally mention the steam mop but we have a Home-Tek Light and Easy mop which has never let us down. They are really quick and easy which is good because I stupidy bought a house with cream floor tiles in the kitchen which show up everything! Extra pads are cheap on amazon too.

SneezySnatcher · 01/03/2013 16:16

We have a Black and Decker steam mop and I love it!

Keys86 · 01/03/2013 17:40

empress I know exactly how you feel!! I have the full on sickness back, feel like I did at about 8-9 weeks, horrid!

Anyone having cravings! I cannot get through the day without a large intake of ice! I even sent DH to the pub down the road for some when I had run out! I told him to say I had sprained my ankle and needed it for that! Didn't want them to think I was strange!!

I am so jealous of those on mat leave, I still have 4 weeks.

mama glad to hear Alex is doing so well, i am in awe of you and your strength.

Look after yourselves everyone.

(32 weeks today)

Fluffeh · 01/03/2013 18:02

Hope you and baby are ok cheese

Have a fantastic day tomorrow trish

BH (well what I think are BH) are tormenting me! Lol honestly I can't move without feeling like I'm wearing seriously tight trousers. When mostly I don't wear anything with a waistband. It's especially freaky in bed. It wakes me up because it feels so tight. I do only get 5 or 6 though and then they get calmer and disappear.
I saw my consultant yesterday about the epi + instrumental birth VS an el cs. She was really, really lovely. Explained that ventouse was out because it required lots of pushing and if I did go for forceps instead I'd still only be allowed 3 pushes before they'd swap to cs.
I'm pretty much decided on the ELCS as it makes more sense. She said she could understand why the anethetist a idea appealed to me and if the situation was different it probably would be agood plan but it isn't different so plan A it is.
My mw was appalled that I haven't got my hospital bag sorted yet haha! I promised her I'd get on it this week but I honestly don't see the rush, I'm only 31+5 i have weeks yet :).

EssexWelsh · 01/03/2013 18:24

And I'm on mat leave!!!!!!!! Plenty of time to catch up on here now! Such a bizarre day of mixed emotions, going to find it hard to detach!

EssexWelsh · 01/03/2013 18:42

Empress, we didn't have isofix points in our car (Ford focus) but garage put then in for £50, so easily done, so no need to have that on the wish list just need to out them in later

Lyndaloo · 01/03/2013 20:37

I'm sitting in the assessment unit waiting to be seen after feeling no movement all day, he seems to have woken up now though. But still only little wiggles rather than big kicks and movements. Should I wait just to be on the safe side, or just go??

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 01/03/2013 20:42

If you're there Lynda, you may as well stay and get proper reassurance.

Rivergirly · 01/03/2013 20:52

Aw angel - I'm in the same position as you 34 week check today - head down but bubs the wrong way round - argh!!! My worst nightmare! Ds1 was back to back and turned, DS2 they kept saying was a big baby but turned out to be back to back when he came out that way and really wanted this one to be the right way round - they do just come out so much easier!!!

Plus lo's heartbeat was rather rapid today - mostly 170 beats per min - she did slow down eventually when she settled but still fairly high at 150 and midwife did spend some time listening?!?

Hoping Rosie is all ok and Trishstar have a fab day tomorrow!! Being a Mrs is fab.

34+1

Ollibobs · 01/03/2013 21:06

Its better to be on the safe side Lynda. Even if its just for peace of mind. Fingers are crossed for you though.

Has anyone experienced massive nose bleeds while pregnant. I had a HUGE one this afternoon. I couldn't believe it. Is this normal? Shock

Keys86 · 01/03/2013 21:12

olli I have also been having horrific nosebleeds, midwife said it is totally normal and due to an increase in blood volume amongst other preggo things!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 01/03/2013 21:17

olli I haven't had bad nosebleeds but have had maybe one a week since I got pregnant.

Lyndaloo · 01/03/2013 23:28

Just back, had to have a glass of milk and some biscuits while I was on the trace to get him going, but all is well.
Thanks all, I'm glad I stayed!
Hope everyones well, I'll have a proper read through tomorrow.

KarenHL · 01/03/2013 23:54

Lynda, glad the baby is ok. I can sympathise as mine hardly moved for two days after doing one of my physio exercises. I was v.worried. Nearly cried with relief when she started to move again yesterday.

Spoke to MW triage today and they were lovely - v.reassuring. They said that sometimes the baby can change position, and that can make it seem as if the baby is moving less - but that if I am ever worried, I can come in to be monitored. They said it is better to be sure that there isn't a problem (see, I said they were lovely). I tried my own MW today and the day before, but no answer (and it says not to leave a message). Didn't call before, as staff (different hosp) were so horrible with previous birth I didn't feel able to talk to them (previous birth, baby did not move for two weeks - telling them made no difference. That particular unit would not have done anything differently - v.long story). This has made me reluctant to contact midwife unit at all, so feel it was a step forward for me to do that today.

I am nearly 32wks. No bags packed, no baby clothes yet either (at MILs). DH is under strict instructions to not open the box the pram is in until we have had the all-clear from the next scan (32+3). Am hoping the cons will answer my questions about the ELCS then too. Had a really awful time before, and want him to understand where I'm coming from (although unlikely, am scared of history repeating). Didn't help that the triage unit were saying 'oh, you're out of area'. No, I am 15 min drive away & this is the hosp I am booked into, where my cons is based - I previously lived a 30-40 min drive away (in area!). One problem we had with the previous birth was due to complications I was referred to another area and every single time I went or phoned I was asked 'what are you doing here then - why aren't you at X?'. Not just once, but by every person I saw and every time Angry. I only wish I'd snapped back with both barrels shouting 'not here by bloody choice! If choice came into it, my b would be ok and I'd be at X'. If I'd only known then, what I know now, there is a different Hosp I would have gone to.

Turns out the funny smell in the spare room might not be damp. It smells suspiciously like stale sick (yuck). Niiiice tenants were evidently here before us. Now plan to get the carpet cleaned asap.

Is anyone else finding it really painful when the baby moves around? It isn't all the time, but sometimes it really hurts. It isn't BH (I don't seem to have had any of those yet this time round), I can see my tummy visibly lurch from one side to another - and it's when I get really big movements that it hurts (starting to wonder if I've got a little Frank Bruno in there Grin).
