Twirl - What a horrible thing for you. I'd try and see my usual consultant to discuss what that cow said. I hate it when one says one thing and then next time you go back another says something else. Take care of yourself hun.

Robin - loved your story. Where we live there are loads of Uni students walking around in little vest tops, etc showing off their flat stomachs and like. Can't see me having one of those again.

KZ - Almost did a you this morning. Thought I'd pop to the post box, in between the rain. Luckily got to the garden gate when I realised I'd still got my slippers on. lol at you being sick on the toms.

Got my assignment back today. Missed out on a B grade by 2 marks but still really happy. This was a tough one, really didn't expect to get a pass at all. Next one due 23rd Jun, hoping to get it in the week before, just in case this one comes 2 weeks early like DS.

Backache hasn't been too bad. Think that has something to do with Dougal hot water bottle shoved up my top and down the back of my trousers all day. As long as I remember to remove him before I answer the door, should be ok Grin

As for Group B Strep, the test would only cost the NHS about £30-£40 per expectant mum. Know of a lady that lost her little one because of it and she is lobbying to get everyone tested as routine. Take care of yourselves and your bumps.

Evening all, just catching up on all the messages as internet connection has been a bit dodgy recently (eek, mumsnet withdrawal!). Sorry to hear about those of you having a hard time, especially with medical professionals. Hope you get the care and support that you need. Both my brothers had fairly serious medical probs at different times when they were younger, and I know my mum had to be pretty assertive to make sure that she was listened to by the doctors. They are both fine now, and looking foward to being uncles :)

Think I'm pretty much back to my usual sunny self (ho ho), having got some decent kip in, and have day off tomorrow. Have appt in the morning with mw, so going to raise subject of homebirth again.

agalch · 01/06/2006 20:11

Evening all

Had mw appt today(i'm 32+).Baby is still breech and i am soooo panicking.Mw is so nice and showed me how to try to turn lo and is determined that i will be having a homebirth and she'll be there.

Can't believe some of the stories from some of you ladies about the way you are spoken to and treated by members of the health profession.

Anyway take care all of you who are not feeling great(and those who are)

hugs xx

Hello All!

Not posted for a while but just been catching up on your posts!!
I'm Envy at all you chesty ladies I went for a bra fitting this weekend and was wholly disappointed to onle be a C cup.....whats that all about! Thought I'd be at least a D by now!!

RANT ALERT
Also went for my 34 week check today & saw a different midwife...who was sooo much better! Unfortunatly my blood pressure was up and my bump had shrunk since last measurement! FREAKED me out sent straight to hospital, baby was fine and I haven't got pre-eclampsia! Thank god, did get another scan though which was great baby fine has gone into position which was why my bump has changed! and shes already 5lb6!! At least all is OK though Smile they dont think before they say these things to you, jsut freak you out 1st!

Going to pack hospital bag now as havent done it yet.........just in case!

Hope your all managing through your horrible pregnancy symptoms!! Grin

Not long now ladies!
Oh and have to say, mny last day at work tomorrow YEAH!!!!! sorry to those who have a while yet!

bumpybel · 01/06/2006 22:18

Evening ladies!

When I mentioned the strep B test to my midwife, she said that there are so many carriers, but that the risk of the baby having it was very low. I said that i was quite concerned and she said that they could consider a test if i still feel strongly about it. The only thing is, I'm not seeing her again til 36 1/2 weeks. Will this be too late?

Also baby has still made no effort to engage at all and is still happily thrashing about in all sorts of positions... i cant tell which is the head and which is the bum!

How is everyones blood pressure doing? Can we have some examples? Mine has gone up from 90 over 60 to 128 over 82. Midwife didnt seem too concerned and put it down to recent stress etc.

Blossom, your dh sounds sooo much like mine, leaving clothes everywhere and getting ratty if I get too frantic about keeping things tidy! My cleaning fits come in sporadic starts and it does his head in!!

HC, I'm getting my hair cut a few days before due date too... I figured that it might help keep me calm, as i love getting my hair done! On the other hand it could be a jinx and we could have early babies! I think I'd quite like that... Still havent done birth plan yet though!

Hope all you SPD sufferers arnt getting too down in the dumps.. not long to go now. Its going to be a sunny weekend this weekend and I'm going to convince dh we need a new barbeque!

Im sooo Envy at your lovely big boobs!!!

im a 42, thats a 42B!!!! As if! does this mean i have monster back?? Would not mind, but my mums bras have been fitting me and they were a size D!

maewest · 02/06/2006 07:22

koshka, as another big-boobed lady, I know far more than is good for me about the fitting of bras (actually haven't got that much bigger as still just about fitting into my normal bras, god knows what'll happen when my milk comes in tho!). Basically, many women are wearing the wrong size anyway (apologies if you've just been fitted). The band should be snug around your body, if it's riding up at the back it's prob too loose. Also if you go up a back size you generally go down a cup size.

Also, be careful what you wish for Grin - I've had these puppies since the age of 15 or so (later developer!) and it's honestly not that great having such big ones. I tend to look a bit matronly sometimes, and altho I have great undies, often find it difficult to find clothes to fit. Dresses are completely out, as I'm 14/16 on the bottom, but more like an 18/20 on top because of boobs. Add to that back ache etc. DH is obviously happy, but have warned him that they will prob be down to my knees by the time I'm 30!

ok - slighly odd boob related rant over :)

maewest · 02/06/2006 07:22

oh, and I was 32H before pg

HumphreysCorner · 02/06/2006 10:03

Morning ladies

Gosh-feel so sick, sick, sick today. It is like going back to the 1st trimester Sad.

DD was such a handful yesterday afternoon and sooo hard to deal with as I am unable to bend down or walk very far. Feel really sorry for her that I am a totally useless mummy at the moment.

bumpy-when first PG my BP was 100/60 and now 120/75 has been 110, 120 or 130/ 70 or 75 each time which the MW said is fine. I think it is the bottom figure they look at so yours is a tad high but not like my dad's that was something over 90 ish. Panic ye not hun.

LOL at you with your big bazookas-I should be properly measured but squeeze into a 38E which I know is wrong as my cup size is nowhere near that big-it is the diameter of my back and under boobs that is big. When I diet my boobs always shrink but can't see that I'll ever get into my beloved 34C lacy collection. Sad

Lovely and sunny today-perhaps my cucumber, runner beans and tomato plants will bloom now (if the snails don't get there first).

jane-get that bag packed-NOW ! Thank goodness everything is OK with baby. I don't know but the medical profession don't appear to be very clued up on making you feel at ease sometimes. Enjoy your last day at work-I did!

Love and hugs to all and byee for now.

just back from mw, need to offload. mw has just freaked me out comepltely, lots of suger in my wee, booked me in for a glucose tolerandce test next week. Was v reassuring (not) gave me loads of stuff about how serious diabetes could be, baby gets too big, have to have hostpital birth lots of monitoring. Oh, and then said 'but don't worry, 9 times iout of 10 there isn't a problem' - well why didnt you say that first! Which i know rationnalyy, but just feel really upset, cant stop cryign and mostly I'm crying becuse I know its prob nothing to worry about, but would have likied a little more sensitivity rather than tryinto put the fear of god into me.

sorry Angry and :(

IamBlossom · 02/06/2006 12:40

maewest, please try not toworry and don't be upset honey please. I was told there was loads of sugar in my wee one MW appt with DS, but it was only cos I'd just eaten a couple of slices of that malt loaf stuff (yum) and it shows realy quickly in your wee. I'm sure ther is nothing to worry about honestly, just watch your sugar intake.

Really really shouted at DS this morning and feel Sad about it. He threw his shoe at my head twice and then clouted me round the head with a skittle, and got roundly told off both times. Then proceeded to kick the coals out of the fire place with his trainers on, and I saw red and he got yelled at again. If I cant stop shouting at one how on earth am I going to discipline two? Sad It doesn't seem to make any difference either, he just looks at me balefully and carrys on.......men.

Anyway, he's at the Grandparents today, so I am off for a pedicure, to chill myself out. 32+2 today!

have great weekends everybody.

Bloss

Awww,

I hate the way they give you worst case scenario, and stress you out.... ugh

I have a urine test on Monday - my first since the initial appointment (my surgery doesnt do them if you BP is OK?)..

Feeling very guilty now though after reading your posts. I have been eating chocolate like it was a food group, does this mean I will be punished with a BIG baby? ooooer.

Have been feeling really good this week actually, quite energetic (maybe it is the chocolate), although battling to sleep.

A pedicure sounds like heaven on earth :)

Hope you all have lovely weekends! Apparently it is going to be a good sunny one.

Hi All,

Hope you and your bumps are well this fine day.
Maewest try not to worry, I'm sure everything will be fine. Jane glad you're ok too. Some people just don't think about what they're saying, specially to us hormonal ladies in waiting...
Also had MW appt this morning, was in and out in five minutes, she didn't seem to want to bother. Was more interested in how DS looks like DH... Anyway, all is fine with the bump. Bp was 124/65. It's normally 100-120/70 ish which I'm told is fine. Last time it was 138/75 which she thought was high for me but did it again at the end and it was back down to 100 over 70 or something. Could just have been the walk to the surgery!!
Am thinking about hiring a Tens machine again. I had one for ds but I don't remember it being much more than a distraction, rather than easing the pain, but it'll be fun to play with it again! Anyone else getting one?

Anyway, best go and help DH, since I've the whole day off for my five minute appt, and he's still doing everything...

Have a lovely weekend everyone, rest up if you can, and take it easy.

Annie 34+1

maewest · 02/06/2006 17:05

I've calmed down now, got it into perspective. No point worrying any more until next Thurs (when I have gtt). Had the day off work so went into town to spend my birthday book token (from Feb!) and then spent about 3 hrs sitting in the garden of my favourite cafe in the sunshine reading & eating - bliss :). Then met up with a friend for nice inconsequential chat. Thanks for reassurance, think that's all I was looking for from my mw really.

IamBlossom · 02/06/2006 19:21

yeah well it's what she should have given as a matter of course. That is supposed to be a caring profession, surely that comes with the job title? Glad you are feeling better Mae.

Annie, I used a TENS last time, am not sure if it helped with the pain either but it was certainly a distraction so have bought one to use this time too.

Evening ladies

Just had an E-Mail to say the girl at work has had her baby girl yesterday and on time with a v. short labour 5lb 9oz. No wonder she was only 7 sheets of loo roll!

pinkdolly · 02/06/2006 20:16

Evening ladies!

I havent been on for a few days coz have had the mother of headaches. Felt like someone stabbed me in my right eye. Think it might be due to stress but am not going to elaborate as am finally feeling like I am calming down and dont wont to wind myself up again.

So instead I will tell you bout my really bad preghead...

KZ-lol at you going out in your slippers... me I just tried to burn the house down instead.

Cooking tea today and supervising DD2 whilst she is doing a poo-poo on her potty (hurray!). Then the fire alarm starts going off. The girls start panicking and i'm like "dont worry mummy's not burning anything". Till that is I smell the smoke, then I start panicking. Head into the kitchen turn off the oven, open door and jump back. Nothing...now am a bit confused as smoke is filling the room but not sure where it's coming from.
So I turn around see smoke billowing out of the microwave. Turn it off open the door, and fortunatly it is just smoke. No fire at all.

Anyway by now I am really confused because I was supposed to be cooking rice in there. What I take out is a plateful of burnt/charred mangled sausages, left over from lunch time. The rice is sitting on the side where I left it. But I dont understand coz I put rice in the bowl and then went straight to the microwave, so cant believe I never took sausages out and put rice in.

That was over 2hrs ago and the place still really, really stinks. Even tho have had all windows open.

So does anybody else have any funny preghead moments they'd like to share..?

A big hello to everyone on the thread, hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. We are off to the beach with the girls tomorrow, have a good weekend.

sunita123 · 02/06/2006 21:13

Evening all,

Maewest - Hope you are feeling better.

Annie - I had a tens machine with DS. Worked wonders for me! I put in an order for another one last weekend, but not sure if i'll get to use it.

HC - Hope you're not in too much pain from SPD.

Here's my preg-head moment....

Was upstairs sorting out the laundry. Saw DS'S night-time nappy, (He only wears the one), It was a clean one but he had been wearing it for a couple of nights so needed throwing away. Decided to put it in with the washing to be thrown away when I got downstairs.
Well, I got downstairs and DS came running up to me saying "Mummy postman's been - look letters," had a quick look at them and then proceeded to load the WMachine with laundry. Put the washing on.

Went back to it a couple of hours later... Opened the door and the Nappy fell out!!!!

Have taken out the rest of the laundry, the whole lot will have to be shaken out and washed again!!! Sad. Kicked myself for having done that.

OldieMum · 02/06/2006 22:36

Evening all. Just a thought - last time round, on a friend's advice, I took into hospital a spray bottle of Mr Muscle and some j-cloths. She warned me that hygiene standards there are poor and that I might need it for cleaning bathroom surfaces, in particular. She was right and I'm glad I put it in the bag. I'll do the same this time round.

bumpybel · 02/06/2006 22:44

Evening girls...

Thank god Sezer is out of the house! ... Anyway.. back to baby talk! Laughed at the preg head accounts. Pink... Your sausage rice palava sounds like something I'd do! I've been putting tins of things in the fridge instead of the cupboard and the other day started unloading a dirty washer wondering why nothing looked clean!

Nixnoo.. I've been eating chocolate by the giant bar load, having read an article that chocolate can help give you a calm baby! That probably explains the 2 1/2 stone weight gain, and i still have 4 and bit weeks to go!

Mae.. glad you feeling bit better. Your midwife doesnt sound very comforting.

HC thanks for your blood pressure advice. I think I'll feel happy once I've seen the midwife on thurs, when am also doing birthplan, to make sure that its still low eighties, or hopefully back into seventies.

Is anyone else feeling bloody boiling? Absolutely roasting!

Re the boob accounts, has anyone elses nipples gone enormous and really dark? I hope they shrink back after.

Right... off to lie near an open window in my pants! (curtains shut of course!)

bumpybel · 02/06/2006 23:02

Oldiemum... excellent idea.. I've heard some horror stories about blood stained wards and I think I'll be bunging a pack of flash wipes in my bag, just incase.... Although in reality I'll probably be too petrified by the whole birth experience to notice someone elses stray pubes!

We are aiming for homebirth, didn't realise how strongly I felt about it until whole diabetes thing yesterday - if I do have it, no homebirth and no nice low risk midwife-led unit either, just straight into hospital and lots of monitoring (according to my reassuring mw anyway). But this morning I'm determined to enjoy the sunshine and behave nicely to my inlaws (who are staying this weekend). I can't worry about anything until next week when I do the test, and anyway, the main thing is to have a healthy baby at the end of this, what happens in the next 8 weeks or so is just a small part of my life really. Positive vibes to all - take your bumps into the sunshine :)
