blackcurrants · 28/12/2012 07:32

yayyy. Yule! congratulations! Grin

emilyeggs · 28/12/2012 08:29

Well hello due date! Lest see what you bring....... Nothing I expect

BuntyCollocks · 28/12/2012 08:44

Sorry, emily ... Also my due date and its brought me contractions since 3am Shock after last nights apparently failed sweep.

Congrats, yule!

BuntyCollocks · 28/12/2012 09:07

Ah never mind. Stupid contractions have stopped, just as they were getting closer. I am exceptionally annoyed. 6 hours of contractions for nothing. Angry

pmgkt · 28/12/2012 09:16

Good luck for my fellow due date partners, wishing you all the best, it won't be long now. It is strange to think I have a week old baby yet he wasn't due til today.

blackcurrants · 28/12/2012 10:46

bunty if there is one thing I am taking away from spending December having 3-4 hours of contractions that then kept bloody stopping it is that actually a 2 hour labour incl. pushing is quite a good reward for all earlier frustration.(if your car doesn't break down).

Hormonalhell · 28/12/2012 10:56

Oooooh blackcurrants that happens to me too, could be a good omen!!Grin

Tell me, did u know the difference in the pain once u were in proper labour? The ones I'm having hurt but are not excruciating iyswim?

Hormonalhell · 28/12/2012 11:04

bunty I feel for you, it's sooooo frustrating when u kept awake all thru the night for them to stop!! Maybe you are gearing up now big FX!!Smile

Congrats yule on the birth of baby Oscar Flowers

Thanks staceym I'll be joining you in the not so distant future (I hope) on postnatal Smile

itsMYNutella · 28/12/2012 11:19

bunty I can totally understand and sympathise!

FX for everyone! I've just got back from having a haircut so you can arrive anytime now bean... Except I'm also waiting for a Christmas parcel to arrive (long story about rubbish delivery company) so I suppose that should encourage some Sod's law labour! Glad I had a haircut booked today, it is definitely nice to have something to look forward to; since being due yesterday was a total non event Wink.
Who else has post due date plans? And can the non first timers share any tips? I'm thinking about going out for dinner with DP tonight or tomorrow but not sure where Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 28/12/2012 11:29

Definitely go out for dinner nutella and stay out late as you won't want to for a while after!

BuntyCollocks · 28/12/2012 11:59

Thanks everyone; feeling more positive hearing some of this!

As a second timer, my advice to first timers going overdue is the following - a lovely dinner with DH/DP at your favourite restaurant, a trip to the cinema, and treating yourself to decadent lunches alone.

annelid · 28/12/2012 12:27

So had intermittent contractions for a couple of hours in the early hours of the morning. Nothing at all now, just feeling quite nauseous and bleurgh......

emilyeggs · 28/12/2012 12:42

Well been to see mw today and my sweep is booked for next sat!! Curry tonight I think Sad hope all my other Edd buddies are ok and boo to stopping of contractions Angry

emilyeggs · 28/12/2012 12:46

On a plus side I'm quite happy that I didn't get any stretch marks yet! I had a few from puberty and my mum and sis both got them so was thinking it was a given. Anyway, my lovely friends on the Clarins counter keept me in supply of there tonic oil and I've used it every day! (one of the perks of working in the beauty industry)

Terrywoganstrousers · 28/12/2012 12:49

I thought it was it yesterday!
I went for a long walk, and had a few big contractions while I was out- had to get DP to come and pick me up at nearest road as I'd over reached myself! Had mild contractions every 10-15 minutes from 1.30pm but they just stopped dead at about 8.30pm, grrr!
Baby is also now back to back which is intensely annoying. No contractions since yesterdayHmm

MyDaydream · 28/12/2012 13:22

nutella we've been doing things and making plans with people as normal just telling people that obviously they could be cancelled at the last minute if something happens. We've been out for dinner a lot recently because I just can't be bothered to cook, and inviting lots of people over to entertain us.
Hope everyone who had contractions stop gets them going again and we have a new rush of babies.
I lost a huge bit of bloody plug earlier and have been having bits when I wipe for a few days but no cramps or anything. We're going to walk into town for some cake in a bit and we've got friends coming over for dinner later so were making them a curry in the hope it gets things moving. Fingers crossed it won't be much longer for me, I'm turning into quite a spectacular grump.

Hormonalhell · 28/12/2012 14:27

I get quite painful ones too terrywogan but then they just stop too Angry

blackcurrants · 28/12/2012 14:43

hormonal in answer to your question yes, when it was really real I did know , mainly because I had been ignoring on-off contractions all day on the 26th but when I got into bed at 10pm I felt.(not heard, but felt!) a pop as my water broke. I lay reading my book in denial for a couple of minutes and the next contraction had my yelling for DH - suddenly I couldn't talk or move during one, and they were immediately 1.30 mins long and 3 mins apart . . . it had moved up a notch from."ow' niggling contractions to "I must breathe slowly and deeply don't talk to me' contractions . I definitely knew!

blackcurrants · 28/12/2012 14:44

also bunty is RIGHT. every day post due date is a day to treat yourself . posh hot chocolate in a cafe with a book, solo cinema trip- do it all!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/12/2012 16:06

hormonal you definately know when it is 'it' in my experience. And I agree with blackcurrants about the 'no one talk to me' during them. especially not mil after I've left the room to have a contraction

emilyeggs · 28/12/2012 17:27

Glad to hear the signs are quit obvious, this is my first so all the info it good

Hormonalhell · 28/12/2012 18:07

Oh god I'm scared now, as on my own most nights as bf only stays once a week!! Just hoping that my waters go and then I get to hosp before really bad ones start

Hormonalhell · 28/12/2012 18:08

emily not sure about that, I'm on my third pregnancy and I have had 3 false alarms as my BH's are that painful at times Grin

emilyeggs · 28/12/2012 18:32

Just had my first ever vindaloo..... My eyes are sweating it's so hot!

Terrywoganstrousers · 28/12/2012 18:39

Haha Emily, sounds like me the other day! It didn't work Hmm
Not a dicky bird all day Angry
