Hi all
Thomas James was born at 6:08 on 23/12/12 weighing 7lb3. So not tiny baby we had worried about and there were no signs of ageing on my placenta. So induction could perhaps have been avoided but I really don't care! Totally in love with Thomas already!
So, we went to hospital on 23/12 at about 1am. Got put on trace and had 1st pessary at 3am. By 6, was feeling some mild contractions and thought maybe the start. At 9 I had second pessary as not much had happened. Walked around for a couple of hours and bounced on ball. Had tens on by this stage and thought I was contracting but could carry on talking/ walking through without much care so maybe not.
Was due assessment for next stage at 3 pm. But at 2:30, my waters popped and everything got very intense very quickly. By 3pm I was transferred to labour ward, exam showed I was 5cm already. Very quickly felt I needed to push down in my bum. At 5:50, mw examined me and was fully dilated and got on with pushing and at 6:08 he was born.
Labour was hard and it hurt but was also amazing. Just used gas and air.
Thomas and I are still in hospital as Thomas is having problems sucking so we can't breast feed yet. We're working on it and are using a mixture of hand massage, expressing and formula top ups to get us through until he is ready.
