Baby girl born at 9.39pm, back to back (very painful!) just going onto the postnatal ward now. 8lbs 2oz, all ok, knackered though!

blackcurrants · 24/12/2012 01:52

Congratulations spice :)

spicegirl13 · 24/12/2012 04:38

Enjoying LOTS of cuddles as she's been feeding constantly since she was born with just a 30 minute sleep so far Shock.

yuletopian99 · 24/12/2012 08:26

Congratulations spice, and good luck stacks!

Going in for sweep this morning, hoping there's some change since Tuesday but not holding out much hope. At least my parents are up for Christmas now, so fun things to distract us while the wait continues...

emilyeggs · 24/12/2012 08:40

Congratulations spice ThanksWine

Hi all, really sorry no time to catch up with what I've missed! Beautiful baby girl born 23:05 on Thursday evening, 9lb 4oz. Very fast delivery due to extreme effectiveness of being induced! Came home Saturday afternoon and we're both doing well and being looked after by family Xmas Smile. Hope all is well with the rest of you.

ISpyDingDongMerrilyOnHigh · 24/12/2012 09:35

Terrywoganstrousers · 24/12/2012 09:51

Ugh, so jealous of all the lovely babies!
I'm going to switch to 'don't come now' mode until boxing day as I have Christmas dinner to prep and sort out! Grin
Sod's law anyoneHmm

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 24/12/2012 10:06

Congrats rudolf and spice!

terry I am very 'meh' about when baby comes now - not going to be before Christmas at this point, so all I'm hoping for now is my wbac. Fed up with waiting, though, especially as sleep is getting more and more elusive. I remember not sleeping well with DS, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as this. Mind you, didn't have spd with him.

MyDaydream · 24/12/2012 10:26

Congratulations spice and rudolph.
Was hoping for a little bit of labour to get me out of going to the supermarket today but no such luck. Maybe a bit of trolley rage will do it for me instead! Getting very jealous of all these babies, but I've stopped seeing baby as the upside of labour and instead its turned to not being pregnant anymore as the benefit! Would still rather not have him tomorrow, but I'm having so few symptoms I'm thinking I've got a few more days left in me yet.

JoJoB77 · 24/12/2012 10:31

Baby Emilia arrived this morning at 1:25am, 7lb 14oz. Didnt get my local MLU delivery as had to be transferred to hospital but got a lovely birthday present Grin. Very quick in the end.

Hope all ok

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 24/12/2012 11:32

Congratulations jojo

Clarella · 24/12/2012 11:41

congratulations spice rudolph, jojo and giraffe!

kate2boysandabump · 24/12/2012 12:22

Congrats to all the new moms and their babies Thanks

Merry Christmas to all those who are still being kept waiting. Hope things happen for you all soon. Xmas Smile

itsMYNutella · 24/12/2012 12:50

Wow, congratulations spice Rudolph and jojo! Wonder if there'll be a big rush of babies Xmas Hmm...

I'm hoping the bean stays put for at least the next 48 hours :) although I had a really broken nights sleep last night. There were some contractions at bedtime and that kept me awake about another hour... There is definitely odd stuff going on down there Hmm and am tired and uncomfortable today. But still feeling fairly chilled.
Need to go and sort out the bird. We're doing a big roast today instead of tomorrow. Tomorrow we are planning a decent brunch (pancakes, possibly muffins....) then some Christmas nibbles in the day and we're invited out to a big posh dinner by the ILs. I don't mind as long as Christmas has all the essential ingredients - good roast dinner, chilling on the sofa, gifts and good cheer Xmas Grin. Hope you ladies all have a lovely time and get a chance to rest and enjoy Christmas.

emilyeggs · 24/12/2012 13:14

Congrats jojo & Rudolph and yay to more team pink ThanksThanks

MyDaydream · 24/12/2012 13:49

Congratulations jojo and happy birthday.
I'm having a weepy day in bed while DP is out buying our Christmas dinner for tomorrow. Just read the "my husband just got back from the shop and spent £300" thread and am now a bit worried. Although when he called to ask about potatoes he did comment on how expensive they are, he questioned my need for garlic and I imagine when he calls for us to have the dessert conversation he'll miss out the expensive extra special range so we might be alright.

blackcurrants · 24/12/2012 15:49

Congrats jojo and rudolph - having a snappy morning, giving DH a hard time and being impatient with DS, getting some stabby pains, but like a stitch rather than like cramps. Going to have a lie down and try to stop being so grumpy!

I hope everyone has a lovely festive xmas eve. I've got the phone numbers of the midwives on call for the next 2 days, and booked an ultrasound for 8am on Boxing day (well, I'll be up!) which will be 40+5 I think, as per my doc's instructions. Over here in the USA they start monitoring quite closely after 40 weeks, and DS was induced at 40+4 because there was low amniotic fluid. I'd REALLY like to avoid an induction, but kind of feel like I've done all I can get the baby out - so now I'm having a nap instead of bouncing, walking, or whatever. Too bloody fed up with it all! Xmas Grin

yuletopian99 · 24/12/2012 16:07

Family here, bro on his way and in laws coming over for drinks. All very festive and jolly and induction booked for the 27th. Seriously crampy since sweep but sort of hoping it doesn't kick off tonight now!

Hormonalhell · 24/12/2012 17:37

Congrats jojo sounds like a niceish birth although u got transferred to hosp!! Will wait to hear your birth story.

Been doing a bit of walking around today and feeling very sore n twinges, the BH's Deffo more painful. My mum is on tenterhooks in case I go into labour tonight but it's the only night I really don't want to!!!

Merry Xmas everyone

Nicnac78 · 24/12/2012 21:40

Hi all

Thomas James was born at 6:08 on 23/12/12 weighing 7lb3. So not tiny baby we had worried about and there were no signs of ageing on my placenta. So induction could perhaps have been avoided but I really don't care! Totally in love with Thomas already!

So, we went to hospital on 23/12 at about 1am. Got put on trace and had 1st pessary at 3am. By 6, was feeling some mild contractions and thought maybe the start. At 9 I had second pessary as not much had happened. Walked around for a couple of hours and bounced on ball. Had tens on by this stage and thought I was contracting but could carry on talking/ walking through without much care so maybe not.

Was due assessment for next stage at 3 pm. But at 2:30, my waters popped and everything got very intense very quickly. By 3pm I was transferred to labour ward, exam showed I was 5cm already. Very quickly felt I needed to push down in my bum. At 5:50, mw examined me and was fully dilated and got on with pushing and at 6:08 he was born.

Labour was hard and it hurt but was also amazing. Just used gas and air.

Thomas and I are still in hospital as Thomas is having problems sucking so we can't breast feed yet. We're working on it and are using a mixture of hand massage, expressing and formula top ups to get us through until he is ready.
