AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH.
Still pregnant.

ISpyDingDongMerrilyOnHigh · 27/12/2012 11:49

Congratulations Stacks and Blackcurrant and welcome Thomas and Alex Thanks.

Good luck Yule. Would absolutelu agree with everyone else that you have in no way failed, but I remeber having similar thoughts with DS1. Also agree that it seemed extra frustrating as everything had gone so smoothly throughout the pregnancy and it just felt like I couldn't 'do' the last bit. Won't bore you with my induction story again, but everything was very straightforward in the end and I now realise that it was probably hormones that had made me irrationally feel like I'd somehow failed for not going into labour spontanously. Also DS1 is now 3 and will never bloody leave anywhere without an argument so think it was just an early sign that exits are not his forte Grin.

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 27/12/2012 12:05

Congratulations, blackcurrants! Alex is an excellent name; I am slightly biased as my DS is Alex.

Midwife tonight for a sweep, due tomorrow. Feeling like I will be pregnant forever. No signs of anything happening at the mo. :(

MyDaydream · 27/12/2012 12:35

Just had my sweep and midwife seemed quite positive about it doing something or something happening soonish. I want him out now, although the hour and a half I spent trying to get DP out of bed today suggests I might have trouble with his son too! Induction booked for 3/1 if he doesn't come out before then.

Clarella · 27/12/2012 13:12

oh utopian I just saw your post - please don't feel a failure ( though I know I did!!!) although I went into spontaneous labour as the were to induce I still had to have the drip as we needed to speed things up for the little man. and I know plenty of people who laboured spontaneously only to need the drip due to not getting anywhere fast enough.

I think I was more disappointed not to have had the excitement of a spontaneous birth but in the end it's all about your lo and some have said to me that at least with induction you're on sight for help or drugs if you or baby needs it.

if you're able to read this and things are progressing slowly I would urge you to consider epidural if you get the drip as the contractions can be extremely strong and close - very un nct I know but of all the girls I know who were induced recently they were glad they did. my sister however was induced and managed very well on g and a so it is possible ( she reckoned it wasn't thatbad!) all the very best and unmumsnetty hugs x

Clarella · 27/12/2012 13:14

congratulations blackcurrants!

blackcurrants · 27/12/2012 18:06

thanks for your lovely comments everyone. I was secretly furious with.EVERYONE who.had their baby before.me (as well as being delighted for them, I promise!) so I will understand if my glee is a bit hard to.choke down!

It was clearly setting an induction date that got him moving. One thing my.midwives did promise me was that even on a pitocin drip I would be able to move about, get into the tub and shower, etc- because this place do wireless monitoring . So although it's not ideal I hope anyone facing an induction still has lots of options. I does seem to depend a lot on where you are.

Also, I didn't want to be induced with.DS1 but even the epidural didn't really cramp my style and I certainly didn't care once I got my mits on him!

Wishing everyone lots of luck!

emilyeggs · 27/12/2012 18:36

Blackcurrant I am very jealous that you have your LO but am very happy for you Smile. My LO is going nuts tonight, it's my due date tomorrow so maybe it's a sign! (gone and cursed it now) Hmm

Hormonalhell · 27/12/2012 22:01

It's looking like I should have stayed on the January 2013 thread. Should not have just assumed I would have this baby early just because my other two were both early (before 35 weeks)

Trouble is I know all the ladies on this thread now Hmm

AlisonDB · 27/12/2012 22:13

Hi all,
I've just read the entire thread from the start of December,
Massive congratulations to everyone who has already had their babies,
Good luck to those still waiting, hope you don't have too much longer to wait now.

Well Thomas is still in scbu, he is now 24 days old, so 24 days of him not being with me all day, (would understand more if he was very prem but 37 weeks?!)
he's doing much better has now been off oxygen totally for almost 2 weeks, they took him off when he was 8 days old but it was too soon. So had to go back on for several days, but is now breathing by himself,
He still struggles with his feeds, but the nurses also give up on him & are far to quick to tube feed him its doing my head in....
They can't give us a date to bring him home and they don't seem to be updating us, tonight I phoned the hospital to see how he was and the nurse and she was a snotty fuckin Cow who wouldn't give me hardly any information over the phone, and has left me in tears!
Just so fed up I want to start being Thomas mum instead of just being a visitor, I want Thomas home now!
Sick of asking nurses permission when I want to do something with him and sick of being told that I'm over stimulating him just by bring there holding him.

Sorry to rant but can't say these things to anyone in RL as I have to apear to be in control and calm, :-(

Hormonalhell · 27/12/2012 22:35

Oh that sounds so hard alison must be so frustrating for you Sad I'm 37 weeks and wishing my baby to come but really he should stay in for another 3 weeks yet.

Feel for you hun xx

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/12/2012 22:49

Oh alison I do hope he can come home soon. I can't imagine how hard it must be. And only made harder by the hospital staff being crap!

hormonal we won't kick you off the dec thread if you want to stay, we have our lovely early baby still and he made his appearance in October!

itsMYNutella · 27/12/2012 23:05

Alison that sounds terrible!! I am really Shock and Angry on your behalf! I'm sure Thomas absolutely needs you there. I know I'm not the only one that has been told over and over that our babies know our voices when they are born. He knows you and In your position I'd be believing I was a comfort to my baby by being there! Stick to what you feel is right and, if you have to, fight to be heard!! Hopefully someone will come along in a minute who can you give you more/better advice! Thinking of you and your family! And massive hugs!
Absolutely no worries about ranting! Feel free :)

MyDaydream · 27/12/2012 23:27

alison I really hope you can bring Thomas home really soon, I can't even imagine what it's like for you waiting to bring him home. I know the nurses do a tough job, but your having a much tougher time and they should remember that before being snotty towards you. Rant away, you sound like you need to.

yuletopian99 · 28/12/2012 01:24

About to conk out but all great here. Oscar Blake (born at 8.38pm, 8lb 7oz after it turned out I didn't need to be induced after all!) has already cottoned on to feeding - two stints of 25 mins - and is now making snuffly noises beside me.. Will fill in proper birth story tomorrow, soooo happy!
