aww congratulations nicnac! Thomas is one of my v.fave names in the world!
have someone REALLY qualified check your DS for tongue tie, including posterior tongue tie which is harder to spot. that was what stopped DS sucking. good luck!

MyDaydream · 25/12/2012 10:50

Congratulations MrsMiller.
Hopefully no Christmas baby here, I'm looking forward to two days of eating yummy foods.

Equimum · 25/12/2012 19:47

Congrats to all the new parents. No baby here, but being made to feel really guilty about it. My DM rang earlier and was all miserable as she'd spent the day alone having declined all invitations because she might need to come and see her new grandchild. I now feel really bad as she's spent the whole day alone because we've gone a day overdue! Then DH gran called to say she had really been hoping baby would be here! DH's parents are coming down in a few days because they thought the baby would be on time like theirs were, so more guilt if this one decides to hold tight. Grrrrrrr. Here Endeth the whinge.

Happy Christmas everyone...hope u're all having comfortable days.

MyDaydream · 25/12/2012 20:40

equimum sounds awful about your family making you feel bad for not having the baby. Mine are just disappointed that I've only been calling to say happy Christmas rather than to announce birth.
I've had a really nice Christmas, got some lovely gifts and no stress we've just done everything as we felt like it and ate our dinner off the coffee table rather than the grown up table. Feeling a bit jealous that DP gets to have a few drinks now while I'm nursing my one bottle though.

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 25/12/2012 23:09

Congrats, mrsm!

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 25/12/2012 23:10

Posted too soon ... Looks like no Christmas Day babies, then?!

Positive mine is not coming out on/before due date now. Made my peace with it. :(

ivanapoo · 26/12/2012 00:16

Equimum that's awful that your family are being so insensitive, you're the one bloody carrying the baby! What do they expect?! I know it's because they're excited but still...

We had a similar situation in that as DS was due on 13th there was a chance he still wouldn't have arrived by Xmas day so we couldn't make concrete plans (he arrived on Fri). As it happens we spent it just the 3 of us together and it was lovely :)

blackcurrants · 26/12/2012 00:18

equimum I bloody hate people giving you bollocking guilt-trips about not having given birth -as if you can do a single thing about it! BAH to them!

I've had a lovely xmas (it's 7pm here and we're just heating up the xmas pud, having got DS into bed) and now I am rested and happy and full of good cheer (one teeeeny glass of wine, god it was good!) I am ready go to into labour! I have a scan tomorrow (40+5) and a checkup with the midwives, and I think we'll be talking about induction. It's rare for the docs to let you go over 41 weeks in the USA, so I will have this chap out by one way or t'other come Friday ... the end is in sight!

Right, the brandy butter is calling me... lots of Christmas love to all! Xmas Grin

Equimum · 26/12/2012 09:21

Glad people had a lovely Christmas. We also ate far too much, which, as I'm sure we all discovered, is somehow even less comfortable with a full-term baby in situ!

Sorry for having been all many yesterday. Feel brighter today. As there's still no sign of LO we're off to visit my horse and take a little stroll in the country side today.

itsMYNutella · 26/12/2012 10:13

Equimum I think that any mother (having themselves waited for a baby to appear) should be well aware that you can't plan when a baby will turn up (apart from ELCS, of course) it's not your fault! Great that you feel brighter today :)

Congratulations to all the new mummies and mrsM and Ivana - can't remember seeing your news on here previously.

DP and I have had a nice chilled couple of days. Here (Germany) the 24th is the big day and it was the first time DP had not spent Christmas with his family in his entire life. They've always done the same thing, pretty much, every Christmas... Which obviously isn't a recommendation because he really doesn't like Christmas Xmas Hmm.

And - whinge alert... Because DP wasn't spending Christmas with the family he wanted to invite them over yesterday to do presents before we all went to a very nice restaurant for dinner. Not a problem, why don't they come over just before we go to the restaurant. So we debated a time to suit us 17:30 and then DP rang everyone to invite them and tell them when to arrive. His oldest bro and SIL arrived at 17:00 and his parents and other brother at 17:10 Confused of course I wasn't dressed and I was really annoyed! I was expecting them to be early, about 17:15 but not so early!
Try often turn up early when given a time and it is really annoying, I've told DP we need to "train" (for want of a better word) them better because I don't see it getting easier once the bean arrives.

annelid · 26/12/2012 10:35

My mum and brother usually come for Boxing Day, but this year I said no. She was not impressed!! She wanted me to give her a date when she could come.....but I said I didn't know. I know she wants to see her grandchildren, but I thought she might be a bit more understanding.....anyway......

So, I'm 41 weeks today, usually I'm about 8 days late, so Thursday or Friday is looking good!

MyDaydream · 26/12/2012 13:25

We've got DPs family coming over soon for Boxing Day, which I was looking forward to but now I'm regretting a bit. Especially since Tesco substituted my Indian selection box for Chinese and I hate Chinese food. I told DP I don't want a late one, I'm debating faking a bit of pregnancy poorly about 8pm to get rid of them if they won't leave. I'm also debating confiscating the Playstation and the iPad so no football can be played or watched! Either way 50% of the guess are going to be unhappy, as as long as I'm happy I don't care!
I'm not even having any signs anymore so am preparing myself to be induced because I don't think I'm going to go naturally. I'm 40+6 today and I've finally got round to doing a few of the jobs that needed doing before baby comes, and feel full of energy so still going. My mum got a text from me at 2am this morning and she woke up and got all excited thinking it was labour time and she was going to be a grandma soon. It was a photo of an amazing Thorntons gift box I got off a friend that I'd sent her at lunchtime the day before!
