Congrats Stacks and hurrah for Thomas!

40+5 today. Induction booked for Saturday at 7am. Now to see if I can go into labour before that date! Gosh, it would be nice. But either way, it's nice to have an end in sight.

MW assured me that I can move around, get into the tub, go in the shower, and do what i like while on the pitocin drip. That sounds better than last time, when I was stuck on the bed and it got quite painful quite fast.

SilverLake · 26/12/2012 20:07

blackcurrants - it's cheering to hear that about the pitocin drip as my previous experience with induction sounds like yours and i thought that was how it had to be. Ie no tub etc.

MyDaydream · 26/12/2012 20:14

Congratulations on your Christmas baby stacks.

Clarella · 26/12/2012 20:21

congratulations stacks!!! welcome baby Thomas! you're probably pretty flat out right now, take it mega easy and press the buzzer for the nurses as much as possible!

well done you :) a tip for c section I wish I'd known - tie a dressing gown cord to the end of the bed to haul your self up. also eat lots of pears ( best for keeping regular the physio told me) and ask for peppermint capsules to ease the wind cramps ;)

Clarella · 26/12/2012 20:23

blackcurrants anything possible up to the induction! I started as I walked into hospital for my 42 wk induction!

Clarella · 26/12/2012 20:27

congratulations too nicnac and Mrs miller! well done to you both

Secondsop · 26/12/2012 21:14

Congratulations stacks!

yuletopian99 · 26/12/2012 23:07

Congratulations stacks! Am booked for induction tomorrow. Glad for an end in sight but had another semi-sweep this morning and bloody show this afternoon and really strong contractions for 3 hours and now it all seems to have died off again.

I am SICK TO DEATH of feeling like my own body is sabotaging everything i do to try to start normally. I feel like a total failure as a woman not to have managed this without needing it forced out with hormones. I managed to have a really relaxed uncomplicated pregnancy and now feel like the whole thing is being ruined because my body's too crap to just finish what it seems to keep starting.

Sorry for the rant, just pissed off and miserable with myself.

blackcurrants · 26/12/2012 23:23

Yule, you are not alone! There will be an aspect of your birth that you TOTALLY rock at (I have never gone into spontaneous labour but I'm a champion pusher!) I promise!Grin

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 27/12/2012 00:26

Aw Utopian when you have him/her in your arms you won't care for one second how s/he got there! I had a shit pregnancy (palpitations/diabetes/placenta praevia/horrific morning sickness) and an induction, so you've done better than me! According to DP I was awesome in labour though, and I didn't even poo myself Xmas Grin

You'll be great, good luck! Thanks

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 27/12/2012 00:27

I say according to DP as I hammered the gas and air during most of it and was off my tits!

Hormonalhell · 27/12/2012 02:20

Am having strong period like pain every 5ish minutes but have had so many false alarms I'm not getting excited one bit Grin

blackcurrants · 27/12/2012 02:31

you so areGrin and I don't blame you! know what you mean about the false alarm things though, I wont believe till my waters go! fingers.crossedSmile

blackcurrants · 27/12/2012 03:21

my waters just broke and contractions are 3 mins apart. Phoned midwife who said to come in as we live 40 mins away and it is snowing.

yuletopian99 · 27/12/2012 04:15

Good luck blackcurrants and hormonal! Thanks for the encouragement willyule; more fake contractions/waters at the moment but can't be bothered timing as am going in at 10 as booked anyway and they'll probably find I'm still only 2cm..

mwahmwah · 27/12/2012 05:17

Hi all, it's been a while but thought I'd catch up with all the deliveries after missing about 4 different threads!
Congrats on all the new arrivals, your lovely birth stories are taking the edge off my incessant worry about delivery! I'm now 40+1 which is a bit poo when midwife was betting I'd be early two weeks ago at my last appointment... We move on 17th jan too so come on little one, your tenancy agreement is up, you've been a lovely guest but now it's time to move on, squatting without prior agreement is just not allowed!
Best of luck to all due over the next few days and congrats again to those holding their beautiful little bundles already.

blackcurrants · 27/12/2012 07:14

Alex was born just before midnight on boxing day. 2 hours after my waters broke and 20 minutes after we pulled up at the hospital! Grin when they got me into the room and the mw said that he was crowning I gasped "you're fucking kidding me!" Grin
love a quick birth! 10lb 8oz, 22.5 inches long, lots of black hair and took to the boon like a pro!
blissGrin

HoneyMumandSon · 27/12/2012 07:15

I think Dash is developing his first cold. It's making him so clingy. I need some sleep. Those of you who co-sleep how so I let him curl ip in bed with me for a bit safely?

HoneyMumandSon · 27/12/2012 07:21

Sorry. Wrong board. Blush

itsMYNutella · 27/12/2012 07:37

Congratulations blackcurrants! Sorry you didn't get your water birth Grin but I'm sure you don't mind one bit Wink

willyule and hormonal good luck!

Today is due day! I am so confident about seeing LO I have a haircut booked for tomorrow morning Grin There we go, nicely jinxed that... Although I honestly don't know if I'll be happy or not to make it to the haircut.
Anyone else had periods of frenzied activity? On 25th we were out with DP's family for dinner and I could eat but couldn't lean forwards, because the bean was going crazy the entire time Confused it was V uncomfortable!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/12/2012 07:38

Congratulations blackcurrants! So many fast births. Welcome baby Alex Smile

annelid · 27/12/2012 08:10

Congratulations blackcurrants!!!

yuletopian99 · 27/12/2012 08:32

Congratulations blackcurrants! Not Envy at all...

MyDaydream · 27/12/2012 08:37

yule good luck for your induction today. You shouldn't feel like a failure, labour is such a small part of it and getting him out is more important than how it's done.
hormonal good luck, hope it was more than a false alarm.
Congratulations on Alex blackcurrants

nutella I have times when he goes crazy and it just feels like he's trying to burst through my stomach. Really hurts, he's got a strong kick to him.
I have the midwife coming over to give me a sweep today and I've told DP were going for a walk afterwards to try get him moving because I am so bloody uncomfortable I want him out now. I was so uncomfortable last night I was hoping it was going to start something. I did so much yesterday, ran up and down stairs so many times, jumped up and down during party games when the in laws were here and he's still bloody in there! I'm trying to get my head around being induced but it changes so many aspects of my labour I'm struggling a bit.
I'm also getting annoyed we can't call people anymore without them getting excited thinking baby is here or that I'm going into labour when we're just calling for a chat.

Bellaboo123 · 27/12/2012 08:46

Congratulations black currants and welcome Alex.
Good luck yuletopian for the induction - no way are you a failure you've done a fab job carrying little man.
Fingers crossed hormonal its not a false alarm!
