wifey had mine as soon as I found out. Did not even notice I had had it. Last time round I agonised over flu jab (it was swine flu year) but this time it felt like a straightforward decision: I will definitely get flu at some stage because of commute. Must work!

dinkystinky · 03/12/2012 09:35

Raquel - sending you hugs and fingers crossed for good news on Friday.

Who is Christopher Maloney? Is this something to do with X-Factor? If so, I dont watch that as I cant watch any reality tv/talent show stuff - it causes my cringe factor to go into overdrive.

paolocee · 03/12/2012 09:37

chocolateteabag DP's advice is to step down a level in Zumba and avoid all the high-impact routines. And, obviously, not to start Zumba if you haven't done it before. She says just be lazy careful. She was also told by her doctor to "not have any regrets." Bloody good advice I'd say.

And who the feck is this Maloney geezer? Some I'm A Strictly X Factor no-hoper, I'm guessing.

elliejjtiny · 03/12/2012 10:20

I had my flu jab last week. I get one every year as I am DS2's carer and DS2 and DS3 get one too. It was fine, I just had a sore, red patch on my arm for a day. Was a bit miffed that DS2 and DS3 got a sticker and I didn't though! Treated myself to a magazine and cake afterwards instead, for medicinal purposes of course Grin

wifey6 · 03/12/2012 10:46

Thank you all...will book in this week & get it done. I'm 9 weeks today & only was told mid-last week & then had early scan on Friday..so it's been a bit manic here.
Thanks all..Smile

orangebubbles · 03/12/2012 13:23

paolo ha ha ha! That about sums him up Grin

Also, re exercise, I am Shock that any GP would ever say "not have any regrets", that is a ridiculous and stupid thing to say by anyone's standards, never mind a GP. How can anyone have any regrets, unless you smoke, drink or do drugs, you can't ever have any regrets about the lost ones. I exercised through my first pregnancy that ended in mc, and I have absolutely no regrets. Whether you exercise or not is not going to cause a mc (unless you take up weightlifting or something ridiculous, like a high impact regime, that could impact on your pregnancy). To imply that exercise could be responsible for mc is offensive, I did not lose my bean and have 2 cp's because I exercised, I lost them because something was not right with my dear babe's and mother nature dealt me the least cruel blow. Arggggh!

ellie love that your lack of sticker required compensating with cake and mag!

lurking for news from Bessie

MightBeMad · 03/12/2012 14:40

argh! Just wrote a massive post and lost it!

The essence was - orange - I totally understand how it feels when someone (esp a doc) seems to apportion 'blame' for Mcs. I doubt that's what Paolo's DP's doc meant though. In my last pg I was really really cautious about everything inc exercise as for my own sanity I wanted to be able to tell myself I had done absolutely everything I could (having lost the first to MC a couple of months earlier). Ironically, what I 'regret' (possibly too strong) in hindsight was cutting right back on exercise as I'm sure that's one of the things that made it so hard for me to recover post-birth. This time around I'm trying to strike a happy medium: I had bleeding on Sat so didn't exercise over the weekend. Went to the gym today but only did gentle, low-impact stuff). Despite the gorgeous sunny weather I have not been running (my very favourite sport for fitness) and I'll hold off on that until at least tomorrow and then gently resume if no more bleeding. I can only hope I'm getting the balance right!

photographerlady · 03/12/2012 16:26

Slowly catching up with the thread as morning sickness has really exhausted me the last two weeks. I have spent so much time in te bathroom getting to work at a decent hour has been princessllama wearing the tfl badge already? I put mine in the cupboard til I am 20+ weeks but then again I take the train so it's abit like heaven compared to the tube. :)

specialknickers · 03/12/2012 16:57

Okay, own up. Chances are one of us is probably the Duchess of Cambridge right, so, which of us is it (hint: not me).

Bless her with her morning sickness though, I thought 24 hour nausea was bad enough, but hospitalisation? That's a whole different ball game. Ugh.

dinkystinky · 03/12/2012 16:59

Orange, Mightbemad - totally agree with you it was an insensitive thing the doctor said! SIL had an awful miscarriage earlier this year and has been wracked with guilt/nerves etc. since - I dread to think what she'd have said/done if she had come across that doctor!

MightbeMad - I had a running in pregnancy book when I was pregnant with DS1. Might still be kicking around our bookcases somewhere if you want it? Sadly can no longer do outdoor running after knee op earier this year but happy to pass it on to you.

BoyMeetsWorld · 03/12/2012 17:17

Ohmigosh missmaybe I'm having the bad dreams too! Horrible horrible really lifelike ones that make me wake up every night. Glad it's not just me!

orangebubbles · 03/12/2012 17:18

ok, fess up, which one of you is Princess Kate? Grin

thinkingpositivethoughts · 03/12/2012 17:25

I'm with specialknickers she must be due with us, bet she's lurking even if not posted. Afternoon kate.

Hyperemesis(?) sounds awful but I wonder if she would have been hospitalised if she wasn't carrying the 3rd in line to the throne! [Hmm]

OhGood · 03/12/2012 17:26

Just back from scan, all seems well, measuring OK for due date 5 July. I will get one of the the staff to add my name to the list. Xmas Smile

orangebubbles · 03/12/2012 17:27

oooh I didn't see that you had already had the same thought special

Great news ohgood

orangebubbles · 03/12/2012 17:29

bessie hope all is well

shelley72 · 03/12/2012 17:33

ah just seen the news about DoC-how lovely for them both but poor thing suffering with HG. i just knew that as soon as i got up the duff then so would she - so she is going to look stunning all the way through making me look even worse than usual!!! wonder if she'll run her baby names past us too?!

good news about the scan for ohgood. hope bessie is ok too...

not been feeling that great today, no longer feel pregnant at all and i am getting a little worried now Sad

Persuasion · 03/12/2012 18:24

ohgood that's great! bessie hope all is ok? Anyone else with scans upcoming?

Normal 24hr nausea is bad enough, I can't imagine hyperemesis. At least she has people to look after her though. Maybe I should put DH to work!

Those with symptoms settling at 9 weeks, I had this too. 1-2 days of nothing much, then it came back with a vengance. Supposedly something to do with placenta. Anyway, 10 weeks today and the nausea is dreadful.

CottonSock · 03/12/2012 18:51

Dh just told me about princess kate. I'm away with work and out of the loop. Well its not me, have not been sick! I thought it was unkind on them to be forced into an early announcement. Would tell the press to bog off personally. She was pictured playing hockey last week so can't be that sick??? Sorry to hear things difficult for bessie. Wifey - get flu jab, only a sore arm for me and have seen off several bugs already. Dh has man flu now.

wifey6 · 03/12/2012 19:03

ohgood...that's wonderful news.
bessie...hope your scan went well.
Thanks all for the advice on flu jab.
Booked in to have it on Thursday.

specialknickers · 03/12/2012 19:05

Great minds orangebubbles great minds.

Good news about the scan ohgood! I've another on Wednesday and I'm getting nervous about it already (I'm consultant led at the moment, due to advanced age and recurrent m/cs)... it's such a relief when you see all is well.

Shelley try not to worry (impossible probably) but symptoms really do just come and go at this point.

My worst symptom at the moment: barely surpressed RAGE. Everyone is driving me mad - DH, DS, friends... I feel like I'm going mad. It can't be that everyone's suddenly that annoying, can it? It must be me. Grrrrrrrrr. That makes me even more cross...

YikesHereWeGo · 03/12/2012 19:06

Fab news about Kate n Wills. Grin
From a purely selfish perspective I'm dead chuffed as I had a bit of a hang-up about having a 2013 baby (superstitious) but if it's good enough a year for royal babies it's good enough for mine!! Blush

shelley72 · 03/12/2012 19:07

cottonsock yes i am 9 wks tomorrow. hopefully thats why things are settling down a bit. just worried as have had MMC before and i hate this waiting game too. agree its good to have the flu jab - i had mine (eventually) on friday. at first the nurse at my surgery refused to give it to me as i was pregnant and asked why i was there! i told her it was NHS advice that all pregnant women should have it as soon as possible. she decided she needed to check with the doctor that it was ok. it makes you worry doesnt it Confused!

shelley72 · 03/12/2012 19:09

specialknickers yes everyone IS that annoying at the moment. hence i am in a quiet dark room with twinking christmas lights whilst DH is upstairs wrestling the noisy DCs into their jamas! i am GRUMPY (not sleeping isnt helping much)!!!

RancerDoo · 03/12/2012 19:27

Ha! I came on to ask the same question Orangebubbles!
It's not me - I had my first ever (in three pregnancies!) little gagging sesh this morning over the kitchen sink. Sufficiently minor to avoid hospital!

I've got the RAGE too. Admittedly this was fuelled by half an hour speaking to the Revenue today. It would have made anyone cross (is my defence and I am sticking to it).

Still hardly any symptoms, although on saturday I went or a lie down at 9:30 am... And woke up at 2! I usually sleep about 6 hours a night, so DH and the DDs were kind of bemused.

Hope all is well Bessie, and I'm sorry you're in limbo, Racquel.
