Off to the EPU I go...called them and said to come in.

It's more just in case and to reassure me I think.

I'll update later x

peardrop2 · 03/12/2012 15:58

Well done. Hope they're nice to you Smile

peardrop2 · 03/12/2012 16:44

Ahh Prince William and Kate are expecting...thought that would happen this month after the picture of them toasting with water

kittenskittenskittens · 03/12/2012 17:11

Ha ha pear I was just comming on to say the same, saw a pic of her last week and thought she had a definate tiny bump! Bet she would be on our bus date wise!

peardrop2 · 03/12/2012 17:18

Hmm I'm intrigued to see when she is due. Some people are saying she's 12 weeks but I haven't seen any article mentioning dates. Must be June but I guess it could be May.

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 17:20

I'm hoping she has hers early or I have mine really late. I refuse to let my child grow up with the same name as a royal baby born about the same time! Poor child would forever be explaining that they weren't named after the royal because they were born first! I'd seriously consider changing my child's name if that happened! Blush

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 17:20

She's not 12 weeks yet, they had to tell everyone because she's been admitted to hosp for hg!

peardrop2 · 03/12/2012 17:22

JoJo are you going for something very traditional then?

Lorelei353 · 03/12/2012 17:22

Sounds like it's pretty early days for her. Feel bad for her. We're all so nervous in those first 12 weeks. Being this sick and then having to tell the world must be awful.

I reckon she might just be on our Gemini bus but could be the next one.

peardrop2 · 03/12/2012 17:24

You really think she's that early? With all that money you would think you would be able to buy hospital privacy

Lorelei353 · 03/12/2012 17:29

Well the BBC are quoting the statment saying she's definitely less than 12 weeks. Also this bit:

^"As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter," it added.

St James's Palace refused to be drawn on when the royal couple became aware of the pregnancy, only saying "recently".^

Italics fail Xmas Blush

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 17:30

We like Elizabeth... Not exactly without royal connotations! It's a family name which is why we chose it. If it's a boy it'll probably be something more unusual. DH chose a boring traditional name for DS so we agreed I'd get to choose the next name! I like Levi, but it's taking a little while to talk DH round to that one!

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 17:33

I reckon she didn't know she was pregnant & thought she had food poisoning until she got to hospital! That would explain why they're saying it's very early!

OhThePlacesYoullGo · 03/12/2012 17:58

Hi. Jojoba1986 suggested I join this thread. It seems that I am pregnant and due around June 5th. Have just been referred to obstetrician, so I guess I'll find out more soon.

MrsBri · 03/12/2012 18:03

Hi Oh :-)

And I think a bit less than 12 weeks. Poor girl having the whole world know :-( I do like William and Kate though, it has to be said. Our names are quite traditional, so we may have the same issue, Jojo!

How are you feeling, Blending? Not nice to be bumped, even if only a touch. What did the EPU say?

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 03/12/2012 18:04

Hello places welcome to the luxury bus. 13weeks or there abouts?

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 18:07

Hi Oh! Have you had a scan now? You're due the day after me! How exciting! Are you letting yourself feel the excitement yet? Smile

OhThePlacesYoullGo · 03/12/2012 18:13

I'm trying. And I am happy, just really scared still. No scan yet, saw my specialist after work today and he ordered bloods and referred me to obstetrician. Am seeing the GP tomorrow. Will they do a scan then? How does it work?

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 18:23

The GP won't do the scan but will put you in contact with a midwife. It'll either be the midwife or the GP who refers you to your local hospital for a scan. I imagine they're likely to get you a scan asap, given that you're not entirely sure how far along you are. They'll want to know when the first day of your last period was so you might want to figure that out, if you don't already know.

OhThePlacesYoullGo · 03/12/2012 18:31

Thanks, so I'll be seeing specialist, obstetrician and midwife? That's a lot of people. Specialist said they would have to do scans to check for structural anomalies, which is a bit scary. I hope I didn't hurt this baby.

Jojobells1986 · 03/12/2012 18:42

People have been successfully having babies for millenia without knowing all the things we know now. It's more likely that a baby will be fine than not. The human race would die out if it wasn't! Try not to worry too much!

bringonthetrumpets · 03/12/2012 19:42

Pear re: your heartburn...have you tried eating some raw almonds (thoroughly chewed) or having a small amount of yogurt or a small glass of milk when you're feeling it coming on? Sometimes these work for heartburn too.

bringonthetrumpets · 03/12/2012 19:48

Welcome Places. Love the name. It's one of my favorite books. It would be pretty hard to hurt your baby! They are so well protected and are growing beautifully to have made it this far. Having scans are always totally up to the parents because we really don't know what the effects are on the fetus. So keep that in mind if you're feeling a bit off about having one. I always say that you should consider how you would react and feel if there was bad news that came up. Do you think you would consider terminating the pregnancy if there were structural anomalies? Do you feel like you would keep the baby but it would make you feel very worried for the rest of your pregnancy or would you be okay with more invasive testing? Do you feel like you could be okay with knowing and possibly finding parent and family groups in your area and make the best of it? Every woman reacts really differently to this type of news and you should think about how you would deal with good or bad news. My guess is that they are ordering the scan so that they can date the pregnancy based on the baby's size.
