That is SO good Shelly, sounds like a fantastic birth. Lovely weight, lovely name. Come and visit us now and then - I for one will miss your vivid poo descriptions! x

georgee · 11/11/2012 15:14

Yes and where on earth is Detective, I should like to know? Perhaps DTD did the business!

Catbag · 11/11/2012 15:20

Congratulations Shelly- can't wait to see pics on the FB group!

Lilliana · 11/11/2012 15:25

Congratulations Shelly enjoy your lovely baby.

Good luck Chunky, hope things are going well.

I've put on 3 stone Blush not looking forward to shifting it after I've had the baby but hoping BF / sleep deprivation / running around after a baby will help.

MM I'm not going anywhere! Nothing happening here.

Been for a swim this morning but shattered now so don't think much more will be happening today.

ToManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 11/11/2012 15:31

Congratulations Shelly, I hope my home birth goes that well.

CharleeWarlee · 11/11/2012 15:31

applepieinthesky · 11/11/2012 15:41

I went for a long walk too kirrin but all it's done is aggravate my SPD. That wasn't such a good idea.

Congrats shelly Thanks you make it sound so easy!

:-( apple my walk appears to have done nothing at all - except wear DD out, which is never a bad thing!

misslaughalot · 11/11/2012 16:20

Congratulations Shelly, sounds like a lovely way to bring your baby into the world!

I'm still here, still pregnant (38+6) and dont think I'll be deserting the antenatal thread for a long while yet. We're building our new nursery furniture today (well, I'm watching my brother and DP do it) and its fab to see the room take shape. Maybe one day I'll have a baby to go in it?!

katkit1 · 11/11/2012 16:30

shelly congratulations!! What a fantastic sounding birth and a wonderful name choice - I'm taking in all of these lovely positive birth stories ready for when it's my turn.

katkit1 · 11/11/2012 16:38

Lilliana I am now approaching 4 stones of extra weight - midwife thinks there is a lot of fluid in and not perhaps a HUGE baby as we first thought but we'll see. Baby lops to one side in my tummy (like an over sized joey in his pouch - will be 39 weeks tomorrow.

DonnaDoon · 11/11/2012 16:39

Yay Shelly Congratulations Thanks

TheDetective · 11/11/2012 17:06

Bloody hell Shelly! You know how to pop them out Grin. Congratulations! I knew it was a boy... felt it in my waters Grin. Nice weight too!

Um, no baby here still :( Sorry! I've been doing the food shop after a long lie in again! Just trying to get the energy to go and cook a roast! No DTD here - decided it was pointless doing it at night, when I'm going to sleep... might try it tomorrow day time when DS at school!! I find walking brings on the BH... so plan for tomorrow, shag, walk, chilli for tea!

Time for reverse psychology I'm quite happy being pregnant anyway, baby can stay in as loooooooooooooong as it likes! Grin.

applepieinthesky · 11/11/2012 17:13

I fell asleep on the sofa and when I woke up I was in agony. My hips are killing me. I won't be doing another walk like that in a while.

WaitingForMe · 11/11/2012 17:14

For anyone wanting to do hypnosis for perineum massage/DTD we used the exercise where you visualise a control panel with a dial that you turn to numb certain areas upon instruction from this book but I'm sure most of them feature something similar. We numbed my hand, moved the numbness to my cheek and then my fanjo. We plan on doing it if I get a sweep and when I get examined when we get to the birth unit.

I've no idea if it'll work out as hoped but it's one way to pass the time Wink

WaitingForMe · 11/11/2012 17:15

Oh and congratulations Shelly. Yet another speedy baby!

Cacacaz · 11/11/2012 17:39

I'm still here been having contractions for over 12 hours, they are quite regular every 3-4 mins, been to hospital( at dhs insistence, he was worried baby would arrive imminently. I'm back home again as only 1cm dilated Angry but I've had a sweep and contractions are considerably more powerful and boy do they take my breath away make me swear so hopefully it won't be much longer. Just had some curry for tea too, hoping that will help speed things up.

Congratulations Shelly what a lovely birth story and quick labour

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/11/2012 17:45

Congratulations shelley looking forward to pics!

caz sounds promising hope it's not too much longer for you.

ShellyBobbs · 11/11/2012 17:48

Thanks everyone Grin

I didn't do much to get me started, refused to do much walking, parking as near to the school gates as possible, haven't had sex for about 20 weeks and only been eating fruit, pasta, tomatoes and cheese. Was 40+1. In my defense, I do have a stupidly high tolerance to pain and he was my 4th.

Hubby was convinced he was a girl, but I kept telling him, don't be so sure, the larger majority on mumsnet are having boys it seems. I didn't have a clue either way.

Don't want to leave this thread, I hate having 2 of them, so I bet I'll be on here more than the post-natal one.

Good luck everyone for any overnight babies, sounds like there may be one or two of them Grin

Passmethecrisps · 11/11/2012 17:54

Hello ladies,

shelly! What an awesome pro you are! My goodness gracious me. It does give me heart that my pootractions might actually have been small contractions.

I have been in since 11:15 and got the gel at about 1pm. My cervix was already far forward, quite long and thin. I got a score of 7 so pretty happy. I got the gel and was monitored for an hour. I ended up not quite making an hour actually as I genuinely thought I was going to pee the bed. DH had to go and get a midwife to unstrap me sharpish as I was so uncomfortable.

Been for a walk round the grounds and am now sitting rolling round ad round on a birthing ball.

MM your question about what a contraction feels like is not daft at all. I am still not certain that I know. I have had one thing that felt line you read in books - an increasing pain/pressure which 'wrapped' round from my lower stomach, round my back and up.

I am being checked at 7:30 when they will decide if I will need more gel. Fingers crossed I don't!

Sorry to hear about your mum apple. It's rubbish when people let you down. Just as well you have such a fab DH.

The hypnotised deed doing made me laugh waiting! DH must feel like king of the world!
