Congrats Shelly.

I've got news too. Baby boy (can't decide on a name yet!!), born 4.10pm at home, weighing 6lb 15oz. Will update more later, currently feeding & doing the phone calls etc.Grin

MissMummy1 · 11/11/2012 18:29

Congrats chunky - can't wait to hear what name you decide and see a picture!

horseylady · 11/11/2012 18:49

Mm I knew when I was having contractions!!!

What shocked me was having them in my back!! I didn't know you could labour in your back?!

Good luck pass - meant to say about pain relief take what you need!!! No one will push you into anything, the mws I dealt with were happy with ne just wanting water and gas and air (I had no paracetamol) I had no choice with the eventual epidural, and I was very anti c section however I happily signed the consent form at the time. As they said in my classes, go in with an open mind, occasionally you will take a detour!! Very true!! I read about everyone else's labours and hear from friends and just think shit about what happened to me. Still, 100 years ago we'd have both died... Thank goodness for modern medicine!! I still have flashbacks and wake in cold sweats over what happened.

georgee · 11/11/2012 18:49

Congrats chunky!! Hang on in there cacacaz and Pass! Your little ones will be here in no time. V v exciting!

kissyfur · 11/11/2012 19:22

Congrats chunky! Smile Thanks

katkit1 · 11/11/2012 19:29

Congratulations Chunky lovely news.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/11/2012 19:33

Congrats chunky lovely news!!

kirrinIsland · 11/11/2012 19:37

Congratulations chunky Thanks

horsey sounds like you need time to work through what happened - make sure you ask your midwife fo a debrief if you need it.

StuntNun · 11/11/2012 19:42

Congratulations Chunky another boy as well! Are all the girls arriving late or are we just heavily skewed towards boys?

I don't agree about two threads being bad. Both threads are moving at very different speeds and the discussions are different on both (apart from the BAs). I think the new mums would struggle to keep up with one big thread!

Congrats chunky and shelley

There are so few left....I am so gonna be here in Dec...

Clarella · 11/11/2012 19:46

Huge congratulations shelly and missmummy!!!! Sorry if ive missed anyone, its so exciting!

I am nervously bobbing on and lurking - 38 wks tomorrow, is it normal to have tweaks and a slight dull back ache for a couple of weeks in the run up to due date?

And could someone explain exactly what a pootraction is, trying to work out if thats what i have .... feels a bit like when youve got a gripey tummy, like i need to poo but am usually not, v faint period like cramps too - all this could be explained away by panicked floor scrubbing for health visitor and brisk walk though ;)

Clarella · 11/11/2012 19:47

Oh flip baby brain i mean congratulations chunky!

MissMummy1 · 11/11/2012 19:55

Sorry clarella - I'm still pregnant! (and destined to be for a while yet Envy )

Clarella · 11/11/2012 20:10

Yes sorry for mistake - you congratulating chunky got switched in my brain!!

MissMummy1 · 11/11/2012 21:08

I'm watching I'm a Celebrity for the first time in 3 years, simply because by the end of the series I bloody better WILL have my baby! And I no longer have a social life or anything else to keep me going for the next few weeks...

katkit1 · 11/11/2012 21:13

I had something fake happen after I sorted out the recycling - big faker (just felt like a really mild period paid) - I was probably squashing him.

YellowWellies · 11/11/2012 21:39

Woo loving hearing the news about more wee ones! Well done ladies.

Horsey - you had a back to back labour too didn't you? There is no mistaking contractions with one of those bad boys or I'm a total wimp. I knew as soon as we were on our way to hospital - the pains were all in my back rather than the wrap around contractions I'd been having with BH - I knew he was malpositioned just by where I was feeling it. Little sod. Good thing he's gorgeous. I concur with the open mind. Diamorphine kicked the ass out of hypnobirthing in the last six hours I'm afraid. Juju whatsit's birthskills were however amazing for the first ten or so....

TheDetective · 11/11/2012 22:22

Congratulations Chunky! I should have given you a prediction Grin.

Now, everyone else seems to be having their lovely homebirths, you just know mine is gonna be the one to go tits up!!

I'm going to book tickets for Twilight on Friday. Fuck it. I'll still be upduffed, so there Grin. Might even go for the Twiathalon hah!

Can someone remind me next time I go food shopping not to take DS and DP? Even though DP 'only' put 2 extras in the trolley, it still came to £112 for 6 days bloody shopping before his 10% discount. And we didn't get everything needed! Shock. I did it for £75 last week FGS!

I've stuffed myself silly with a roast, and still can't move 3 hours later! Ouch! Also managed to burn my hand on the kettle because I tried to turn a plug on at the wall behind the kettle as it was on... why? No one knows. Stupid preggo brain!

Can everyone please stop having babies for one night Grin. I need a chance to join the queue!

MissMummy1 · 11/11/2012 22:27

Detective I took dh shopping on Tuesday. I usually do a week's food shop for about £50 for the pair of us with a couple of small 'top up' shops inbetween. We spent £145. Only extras I can see we got were washing liquid and dishwasher tabs. Shopping with him was far too stressful. Do all men wander off in tescos or is it just mine?

TheDetective · 11/11/2012 22:31

It was just stressful all round.. I'm not normally a public snappy mum behind closed doors only but even DS wound me up to snapping point Grin.

The two of them in combination was enough to make me run away screaming! I just couldn't be arsed dragging it out by looking for bargains, or working out the best offers. I just wanted to get in and out.. and that we did in just under an hour, including checkouts! I usually take about 1hr 40 alone!

Moan moan moan is all I got! And all the way round all I could think was 'this time last week I was wandering around here thinking this was probably the last time I'd do this before the baby came'. How wrong can one be?!

At least you may never need to go the shop again with that lot MM?!

MissMummy1 · 11/11/2012 22:36

Doubt it. He takes a ridiculous amount of food when he's on nights. I think he must be feeding all his crew too!

TheDetective · 11/11/2012 22:48

Oh, I can sympathise with that one!! I take a lot with me on nights! I take snacks for my colleagues too!

There is just something 'different' on nights. I have to graze my way through them!

TheDetective · 11/11/2012 22:48

I don't take anything to eat on days though! Strange, huh?!

Iheartpasties · 11/11/2012 23:06

shelly congratulations! And I love that you dh had to fill up pans of water, pretty funny!

mm1 my new mantra is that I will be here till the end of Nov, so do not worry about being left here alone!!

My mum arrives here from the UK on the 15th, she sets off from Cornwall on the 13th! Such a mammoth trip, it?s 5 or 6 hours just to get to Heathrow! I know she annoys me but I do feel proud of her, she hates flying but still this is the third time she has come over, to help us out. She flies via Singapore and then arrives in Sydney on Thursday early doors. She?s gunna get a taxi to our place as that makes it nice an easy. I have told her that if we are not in to try the hospital!!

lane81 oh dear, about your tooth! ?all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, and a baby? !!

apple ((hugs)) for the painful hips/spd.

caz good luck.

chunkychicken congratulations!! (another boy on this thread!!)

horsey sorry to hear you are having flash backs and cold sweats, bless you.
