Thanks MM! I don't know what I need waaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

A good scream might help, no?!

ValiumQueen · 17/11/2012 16:04

Now then detective you of all people know that it is not about being a failure. I am good at growing babies but shite at evicting them. I am also a good mummy. The birth is only a very small part of things, and all that matters is mummy and baby get through it unscathed. Nobody can say you gap haven't done your very best. Sometimes nature needs a little hand. You are not a failure so please cast that thought out. You are very near to meeting your baby. Try to focus past the birth and think of newborn cuddles and how best to get them. Big hug honey x

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/11/2012 16:14

Second vqdetective more hugs. Xx

TheDetective · 17/11/2012 16:18

I've just amused myself by writing a worst case scenario list of things I need - poor DP, it consists of very very detailed instructions....

To give you a flavour - this is what it ends with... "And don?t put this shit in a carrier bag, ok? Lend a nice bag from somewhere if you have to. And don?t use the huge fuck off suitcase either.

Remember to bring food and drink regularly for me. Hospital food is SHIT. I will starve otherwise. Ok?"

And it doesn't start much better either!

Positive thinking, positive thinking.... I don't get it! I laboured with DS! So why not this time?!

Chunkychicken · 17/11/2012 16:57

Detective hugs & huge positive thinking for you to have the home birth you are hoping for.

ShellyBobbs · 17/11/2012 17:42

Good luck Detective hopefully things will get moving VERY soon for you x

MissMummy1 · 17/11/2012 18:02

I think I've put my back out. Bent down to pick up the washing basket and been in agony ever since. It's on one side, and feels like I'm being stabbed whenever I move. This isn't labour is it? This is fat person underestimating the effects of bending self inflicted back ache from not bending my knees?

TheDetective · 17/11/2012 18:03

Sounds like sciatic pain! Warm bath, hot water bottle, and change position regularly...

MissMummy1 · 17/11/2012 18:07

I'm always paranoid it's my kidneys when I have lower back pain as I 'bruised' them in an accident 2 years ago. Given this was triggered by bending down, sciatic nerve sounds much more like it. Thanks for your wise words detective - so basically stabby back pain caused by being a twat and forgetting I'm pregnant isn't labour?! (I'm quetionning every twinge..)

TheDetective · 17/11/2012 18:16

It probably is sciatic, but just keep an eye on it! But don't stay still, as it makes things worse! Just keep moving gently!

I've given up questioning twinges... don't ask advice on twinges... gaaah!

georgee · 17/11/2012 18:24

Hi detective, just wanted to add some hugs for you from here. Plan for the worst and hope for the best! I really, really hope you get your home birth. I think you just cook 'em for a bit longer than some others, that's all. Don't despair!

MM sorry about your back!

Some friends held a surprise baby shower for me this pm which was lovely. Lots of lovely cake. I now have a mighty haul of toiletries too!

SwissArmyWife · 17/11/2012 18:25

Twinges are the enemy.

-slopes off thread again-

MissMummy1 · 17/11/2012 18:25

I'm not even due for another 11 days and I'm going mad, so really feel for you. Your uterus must be so lovely babydetective doesn't want to leave! I have everything crossed for you (as I'm sure the rest of the stragglers on this thread do too) that you'll have a wonderful homebirth before the weekend is out xxxx

Clarella · 17/11/2012 18:42

Oh heavens detective I hadn't considered 'the bag' if youve planned a home birth sorry, Thanks {{{hugs}}} my dh would get it all wrong and ive had to write similar lists and put piles of extras here and there plus a guided tour of my pant drawer.

Definately not a failure in any score. Willing other lady has a very fast pop or has to go in so you can get home birth. Try to relax though xxx

CharleeWarlee · 17/11/2012 19:15

Lets hope the OW's labour is over pretty quick detective Only 24 hours left Wink

Its actually started to sink in about tomorrow now. Im going in to have my baby!! Cannae waittttt

pikz · 17/11/2012 19:38

Good luck detective am crossing everything for you.

How come very time I think ie not felt him move much he does a dance! He just knows...

Only 3 of the 8 of us in NCT left to give birth...I'm technically next...I bloody hope I am or might go mad...

ComradeJing · 17/11/2012 21:02

Morning all.

Detective fingers crossed for birth just waiting until the OW is finished and then kicking off.

Went for an epic 6 hour walk yesterday with DH and DD in pram. It was so nice just to have time with DH without MIL and SIL.

Very niggly in lower back so wouldn't be shocked if it kicks off today but not gettibg hopes up as my back haas always been a bit tricksy.

Brockle · 17/11/2012 21:23

Every 10 minutes for the last three hours and now CX buggered off. I am not trying sex again even tho it was bloody good

How are you feeling detective . Fingers crossed that he gets his act in gear Thanks

TheDetective · 17/11/2012 21:30

Sex... good?!

We tried it again last night. I ended up screaming in pain, and then made DP, finish off on his own, but put the deposit in the goal haha! Well I wasn't going through that pain for no end game!

I'm sat here now cutting an attractive figure, holding one tit up, with lansinoh under it, and a sterile gauze swab soaking up the sweat.

I've had this really horrible sore sweat patch under there since about 33/34 weeks I think which seems to start healing, but then gets bad again! It is at its worst today - I suspect I had a scratch in my sleep last night Blush. I've put sudacrem on ever 5 bloody minutes it seems today, but it still hurts! Resorted to other measures now! I feel like taping my tit up overnight Grin.

I've also still got the sore throat/cough/snot combo going on. Very fucking attractive indeed. Hmm

I've decided the answer is... christmas music. Not sure DP agrees Grin.

GTbaby · 17/11/2012 21:41

Hello all. Just cAme by To say hello. Gave up keeping with two threads a while ago n missing u guys.

det was actually curious about u which is why I came here to see how ur getting on. Haven't read very far back but looks like ur having a rough time. Big hugs.

Hugs to all of u who need it. Looking forward to u joining us on the other side Grin.

TheDetective · 17/11/2012 21:50

I'm not sure I'm ever going to make the PN thread GT...

Thank you for thinking of me though Grin.

I hope LittleGT is giving you a better time of things now!

Brockle · 17/11/2012 21:50

I know detective it surprised the hell out of me Grin it was purely business at first! However due to it doing feck all we won't be going there again. Hopefully the christmas music will smoke him out. You obv have a fantastically comfy uterus!

Nice to hear from you GT . Keeping up with two threads is easier without a baby.

Iheartpasties · 18/11/2012 01:04

We skype the PIl's yesterday morning, and we had the camera pointing at dh and the kids as I didnt want to be on screen (we were still in bed and I had just been breats feeding), anyway MIL always wants to quiz me on everything (I normally avoid skying her as it's so bloody annoying, she is a massively intrusive gossip), anyway she actually asked me about the birth etc and then asked me - in front of FIL if I needed stitches. WTAF? I was like a stunned mullet and just said yes. I'm still playing it over in my mind now and it's really bothering me :( what a nosy old cow. I think I'd rather not be questioned about my fanny full stop let alone in front of DH's dad.

ValiumQueen · 18/11/2012 01:45

pasties that was very naughty of MIL. Skype is awful as they can see your expression so it is not easy to bluff.

On my last pregnancy I was one of the last to graduate. Try to see it as an advantage as you can ask advice of ladies with recent experience ( clutching at straws)

Iheartpasties · 18/11/2012 02:34

vq the worst is when they are asking if you liked the totally crap present they sent out - as you say you cannot bluff as they can see your face!!
