£2.95!?! We paid £25 quid to go see Skyfall on Friday, and that was with 10% off for booking online. It's extortion! Plus we spent a fiver on sweets Blush

TheDetective · 13/11/2012 21:04

See I'm probably killing the cinema off really, as I very very rarely buy anything there! Trained myself out of it ages ago! I usually eat before I go, and have a pack of sweets in my bag or something!

Very rarely I might get popcorn or an ice cream, but we share it .

MissMummy1 · 13/11/2012 21:04

Someone at yoga tonight suggested expressing (or trying to) from 38 weeks to help encourage your milk supply. Has anyone heard of this? Is anyone doing this? I'm desperate to try out my shiny new breast pump but don't want to mess around with nature!

TheDetective · 13/11/2012 21:10

I've done it. I was going to do it more, but got to the point where I CBA! Hand expressing gets more though, the pump was shit Grin.

I was doing it to get a small supply in the freezer, but decided not to bother in the end. It hasn't increased my supply from what I have noticed though. If I try it, I get about the same amount each time.

Brockle · 13/11/2012 21:10

On stupid blackberry again so sorry if double posts. I really want to do the mother and baby cinema mornings. It sounds fab!

DH is currently at AandE for suspected broken toe. Well it might be broken at worst or just badly bruised at best. I told him I didn't think he should play football last night because he did the same thing right before DS1 was born but no he had to go and be an arse. I swear if I see one pathetic attempt at a limp or a wince I will murder him.

kissyfur · 13/11/2012 21:13

I can't resist the pic n mix!! We don't go very often to be fair, can't afford to!

I have half heartedly tried to hand express but nothing comes out, tbh it doesn't feel like there is any milk there

jenbird · 13/11/2012 21:17

Can I have a rant and some reassurance please? My stupid idiotic husband cooked the children and I dinner tonight, bought all fresh ingredients but didn't have chance to clear old stuff out of fridge. Just come to do so and found that instead of this using fresh eggs he used one of the last two which were two weeks out of date. Why can't he just bloody look. I could kill him. Is anyone likely to get food poisoning (salmonella) and is this dangerous to the baby?

TheDetective · 13/11/2012 21:21

I eat out of date eggs - don't worry!

Brockle · 13/11/2012 21:21

I test the boobies out in the bath just to check there is milk there. Definitely better production in my right. May try the pump after my sweep tomorrow to see if it assists at all! Stupid but getting really nervous about BFing despite BFing the first two. I may go to the support group at surgery on friday and see if I can have a quick refresher! I loved it so really don't want to encounter any probs if I can help it.

FatimaLovesBread · 13/11/2012 21:23

he'd have been able to tell if they were off, they'd smell.

Belgrano · 13/11/2012 21:30

Thanks Georgee. Link doesn't work if I'm not a member so I'll hop over to postnatal and see if I can wrangle an entry.
Postnatal sweating seems to be starting. Just today. Nice!

YellowWellies · 13/11/2012 21:40

Oh post natal sweats - shudder.... not something I'd heard of before but totally HORRIFIC - felt like the sodding menopause. Not helped by sleeping on the mat ward at a balmy 32C....

Clarella · 13/11/2012 21:44

Eeew postnatal sweating? Thats a new on on me :/

MissMummy1 · 13/11/2012 21:44

So it can't do any harm then? (Note, labour at this stage is most welcome!) I'm bored, dp is at work, I might give it a bash Blush. Curiousity more than anything else! and looking at mortgage deals is depressing the crap out of me .

YellowWellies · 13/11/2012 21:50

MM if you don't manage to express any - don't worry. I tried to hand express when preggers and only got a couple of drops and now I'm like a fecking friesian!!!! I do however totally rate the hospital's own breast pumps (ameda) they is AMAZING. I borrowed one so haven't even had ours out of the box - something to Ebay maybe?

I dreamt you were team pink last night. Oh and that pic of your DHs mo' for Movember - is terrifying!!!! :) Mindst Ads is looking a bit like Adolf Hitler so I shouldn't really comment.

FatimaLovesBread · 13/11/2012 21:51

MM I've been taking my pump in the bath with me just to see what I get Blush

TheDetective · 13/11/2012 21:56

I did it in the bath too - I get more then Grin. Found it quite relaxing really!

Clearly, given I am 10 days past my EDD... it hasn't made a sodding shite of difference to start labour for me!!

MissMummy1 · 13/11/2012 21:58

Don't mention the moose! He thinks the fact it makes everyone stop dead in their tracks is a good thing. It's horrific and has to go!

I have a tommee tippee manual pump and a medela swing electric one (thanks SIL - never used too!) Fatima how long have you been doing it for? I take it it hasn't triggered labour yet!?

YW how is life with the beautiful Jonas? I meant to see your sister this afternoon but my mw appointment was running late and then I had to pick my sister up from her exam as my mum was stuck in waiting for a delivery. I'm also now seriously beginning to think about pink names, just in case. Your blue boy has got me wondering now!

Brockle · 13/11/2012 22:07

Curiosity got the better of me and I tried expressing with my tommee tippee manual and was impressed. Weirdly got more out of the left one. It obv doesn't like showing off. Then had a bloody painful contraction and nothing else since then.

I remember postnatal sweats now. I had conveniently forgot about them. Hmmm...

Jims · 13/11/2012 22:14

I hand expressed a couple of 5ml syringes as i thought it might help bring on labour. Not sure whether it helped (suspect that may have been DTD that actually brought things on) but it did mean it stopped me freaking out so much when F wouldn't suck v well for the first 48 hours to give him those plus anything else i could express. I was a bit paranoid he'd lose loads of weight as a sleepy big baby. He has definitely got the hang of sucking now, though i wish i could get him to latch more deeply consistently!

CharleeWarlee · 13/11/2012 22:16

Fucking pissed right off Sad

Have had a sharp pain across my tongue for 3 days now, thought it was to do with the chest infection I was coming down with as this normally happens to me when im getting an infection. Have looked in the mirror an hour ago and my mouth is thrush heaven Sad

No wonder my food wasnt tasting right.

Any ideas what I can take/do to get rid ASAP?!

TheDetective · 13/11/2012 23:47

I'm not sure Charlee but given natural yoghurt is good for down below - should be good for the tongue! And get to the chemist/gp for something. They do Nystatin drops for babies - so some sort of anti fungal treatment should be suitable for pregnancy. I'd just go to the GP and get a prescription, then it is free Grin.

Well, I tried to find my cervix again. Mission impossible. DP thinks he found it, so he wiggled his finger in it. I'm not convinced, it didn't feel like he was in it! So, given I was all lubed up, we DTD! No sooner had we started then DP jumped up and shouted out in pain - with foot cramp!!! Tried again - same result! Eventually we managed it. But not without me giggling like a kid throughout at DP's cramp.. then I noticed how dusty the lightshade was. And pointed it out to DP mid shag. Anyway, its done now! Lube definitely helps! There were no tears just of laughter.

So, if that doesn't shift the bugger, I don't know what will!

Iheartpasties · 13/11/2012 23:57

Holy heck, I have been trying to stay up to date ladies and I am caught up now, but of course its all in one ear out the other (of whatever it is when you are reading). Massive big congrats to everyone who has had babies, I think quite a few arrived on 12.11.12. I cannot believe I gave birth the same day that my mum had my brother 36 years ago! How funny and weird. We?re home now from the hospital, yay. All?s going well and I am so so so excited for y?all.

Iheartpasties · 13/11/2012 23:58

I suppose I should go and find the post natal thread!

good luck everyone!
