Every 10 mins at the moment. DP is snoring away oblivious to my groans.

Good luck pasties and kirrin. How regular are yours?

StuntNun · 12/11/2012 06:38

If the contractions are regular it looks like the real thing Apple. We could have a whole pile of babies today! I'm crossing my legs at the moment as I have an ENT appointment and saxophone lesson today. After that baby can arrive any time!

Oooh good luck pasties kirrin & Apple.

As my Mum said yesterday, to my DH's call giving them a heads up, it may well be a false alarm but equally, its got to be the real thing at some point. If they stop when you move, then its not established contractions I think they say. I tried using an app on my phone to time without concentrating too hard on it iyswim, but my phone needed charging so it was plugged in, in one room, & I was busy elsewhere, so cannot categorically say what they were like!!

Chunkychicken · 12/11/2012 06:45

And thanks stunt I guess it would make sense, but didn't want to assume given how careful you have to be with ibuprofen/aspirin in pg. Different reasons though I suppose... MW is coming over later, can ask her too, but also think there's an online directory or something you can check.

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/11/2012 06:54

Good luck to all the ladies having contractions, can't wait for more babies to join us!

Dixiebell · 12/11/2012 07:38

Good luck everyone who's having action...maybe lots of 12/11/12 babies today? My day consists of taking DS to messy play, trip to health visitor (why? Dunno, apparently all pg women get an appt, but it's annoyingly right at lunch/nap time for DS). Then entertaining a toddler for rest of day...gonna be tired tonight! 38 weeks tomorrow, so still here for a few weeks I predict.

MissMummy1 · 12/11/2012 07:44

Fatima I've been doing exactly the same lurking on threads for ages and only now am I brave enough to be opinionated! A lot of people think I'm much older. Don't know if that's a good thing or not Hmm. It was never ever in our game plan (so it were) to have a baby so young, but as it turns out the timing is pretty perfect. In an ideal world we would have had another puppy to amuse ourselves with for a few years but my bodyclock had other ideas! Grin

TheDetective · 12/11/2012 08:00

I've not slept well at all. Still in bed. DP doing school run. Urghhhhh :(

ditsygem · 12/11/2012 08:56

Not sure if something is happening here or if I just have a bit of a stomach bug.
I woke every hour in the night for a wee (usually its once ever 2 hours or so) and then at 5am started waking with cramps, a bit like period pains or BM cramps. these were coming every 7 minutes so I thought maybe these were contractions and tried to doze between them.
got up at 7am when DH went to work and had a shower - (TMI alert!) had a couple of loose BM's since then accompanied with cramps and the pain is a bit more constant now I think rather then being in waves, but still with waves of more intense cramps. I'm also very hot and sweating with the cramps as they come. Just not sure if this is a sign of labour starting or just a bug! (I'm 40+1 by the way). I guess time will tell.
Good luck to everyone else who is having signs! I wonder if we have had any more babies over night?

TheDetective · 12/11/2012 09:06

Is it wrong that I have found something else to make me worry?!

I'm having sweats at the thought of going back to work when this baby will be just over 5 months old. How the actual fuck am I going to do it? Working full time doing a mix of early lates and nights, it is going to kill me. I can't see how I can do it. But I have no choice, it's that or be unable to pay for the mortgage or any bills quite frankly .

Why am I lying here worrying about that now? WHY!! I know DP will be off for the following 3 months but I still don't see how I will cope especially breastfeeding. I'm actually considering not breastfeeding now so that we can share everything equally from the start Confused because I sure as hell won't be able to breastfeed in the night between a late and early, or to wake up in the day when I'm on nights to do it. Buggering bollocks.

blonderthanred · 12/11/2012 09:15

Detective, I have to go back to work at 6 months, planning to express so DH can share feeding but only after a month or 6 weeks or so. It is all a worry but you are clearly one of the most capable and competent people on here so I'm sure you will make it work as long as you have the support we all need and give each other. Don't Panic!

StuntNun · 12/11/2012 09:15

Chunky I did look it up because I want to start taking anti-inflammatories as soon as baby's born because of my slipped disc etc. Minimal amounts do pass into the breastmilk so it just depends on whether you're comfortable with that or not.

MM there are advantages to having children when you're younger, e.g. easier to deal with sleepless nights. I had my first at 26 and it was a breeze compared to now at 36 where it's taking a much greater toll on me.

Morning everyone. I'm feeling a bit dicky today and DH was up in the night with pootractions do it can't be labour! Filled the birth pool yesterday and had a soak in in, at least now it won't be unused if we don't get it filled in time for labour.

Try not to worry detective, I went back full time when DC was 6 months last time and was still breastfeeding. We introduced a bottle really early, about three weeks and I expressed the dream feed. She would take breast or bottle then. I'm worrying about labour now, the pain of last time keeps coming back to me Sad

TheDetective · 12/11/2012 09:27

Thank you Blush I don't feel competent in the slightest!! Anything but...!!

I'm going to bury my head back in the sand for a bit longer! I went back to college when DS was just 6 months, but that was 2 1/2 days a week, and far less stressful than work!

I've just rang the community midwives. Sweep tomorrow afternoon :) the sooner he comes the longer he gets with his mummy I suppose!!

DP is making me eggy bread to cheer me up!

TheDetective · 12/11/2012 09:28

Ok so eggy bread isn't what I was expecting... He forgot the milk in it! Doesn't everyone put milk in with the eggs?! Surely it isn't just me!

Brockle · 12/11/2012 09:40

detective you are so capable you will be able to make it work. Establish expressing early on and just play BFing by ear when you go back to work. I went back after seven months with DS1 and it just took a while for us to settle into a routine.

Trying to keep myself busy but running out of things to do!Also trying not to be a grumpy cow all of the time. That is v hard. Want to walk but it is sodding raining!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 12/11/2012 09:45

I tried to pm you detective but it won't let me on my phone. I just wanted to thank you so much for the footmuff you posted me. It's fabulous, my hubby is very impressed with it as am I. It has been well used already and DS hasn't been out all that much.

Looks like alot of contractions happening ands maybe babies. I've lost track of this thread completely so not even sure who is still waiting on babies!

applepieinthesky · 12/11/2012 09:57

Still getting tightenings but they are no closer together than they were several hours ago so perhaps a false alarm? Sad I want my baby.

applepieinthesky · 12/11/2012 10:02

detective my auntie is going back to work next week and she has a 5 month old. She has expressed from quite early on for that reason. Perhaps it's something you should consider?

Lilliana · 12/11/2012 10:03

Congratulations Chunky and Shelly!

I want to see twilight too but no way will DH take me, guess I will have to wait until it's out on DVD.

LO is still back to back YW / Horsey / anyone else is it really that much worse?! Having a general panic about giving birth - been on all fours and bouncing on my ball but despite lots of movements it won't turn round!

Sounds like we are going to have some more babies soon - good luck everyone x

kirrinIsland · 12/11/2012 10:11

Birth announcement !

Baby girl -nadia - born this morning. Very quick, only just got to the hospital in time. All well :-)

kissyfur · 12/11/2012 10:12

Oo good luck to everyone who things are happening for!

Cracking migraine here this morning, probably brought on by another rubbish nights sleep! 39 weeks today! 3 days til my ELCS, all seems very real now and tbh I'm a bit scared! Blush keep having morbid thoughts of what could happen, think I need a slap!

kissyfur · 12/11/2012 10:13

X post Kirrin! Huge congrats Smile x

MissMummy1 · 12/11/2012 10:16

Yay congrats kirrin!

Bless you detective - I lie awake worrying about all manner of things. It's horrible. I plan to establish expressing early on (no doubt will be on here asking for lots of help!) so dh can share in the feeds, and then IF I go back to work (albeit I'm fortunate enough not to be in a hurry, and at this rate have no work to actually go back to Hmm ) it shouldn't be too much stress.

DH is worrying about when he goes back to work how much he is going to miss out. I have to remind him how damn lucky he is.compared with most men! He'll be off until after new year, works alternate weeks and nights and has a whole week off in every three! About to be 2 weeks in every 4. The man has it made.

Seconding what everyone else has said, you are one of the strongest women on here and if anyone can make it work, it's you xxx
