stacey glad that your ear is getting better and that the baby is ok too - it's hard not to worry, isn't it, when the movement is different but mine is just the same and puts on a show whenever the monitors are switched on.

It is surprising that you weren't offered a GTT before if you've got diabetes in your family. It's good that you're now getting one - I hope you don't have it as I am finding it a right nuisance.

AlisonDB · 02/11/2012 20:57

Wow Stacy what a week you've had!
Glad your ears are slightly better, you must have been do worried about tadpole made up for you that everything is ok, hopefully now you're back you can relax a bit.

I'm feeling huge, but everyone tells me how neat and small my bump is, I am all out front boobs and bump, from the back I don't look preg at all and haven't really put much weight on anywhere else,
Am expecting boy, and carried DS1 exactly the same way.

Although the pregs couldn't have been more different.
I was convinced with DS1 he was a boy and was right - all the old wives tales came true. (Was addicted to spicy food)
With "Pippi" (named by DS1 whose nn is still Beany)
I was convinced it was a girl, couldn't eat anything savory/spicy/ only sweet foods, fruit, sweet drinks,
Im still having morning sickness at 33 weeks, preg rhinitis, spotty dry skin, all the typical girl signs, but he is very definatly a boy!! We have the scan photo to prove it! Lol

HoneyMum21 · 02/11/2012 21:12

Love your suggestion for thread name Pidj maybe we can use it to start the postnatal board?!

Hope everyone is doing well and sorry to those who are suffering.

Dash update - he's doing well, is off the phototherapy completely now :) Today he's managed to have a good go at BF 3 times though is still mainly being tube fed. He cried properly for the first time today too which means he's getting stronger. Still no idea when i'll get to bring him home which is utterly rubbish.

itsMYNutella · 02/11/2012 21:17

Fingers crossed that you get to take him home soon Honey! Great to hear he is doing so well!

I still haven't got very far with my hospital bag. Have decided it will be next weeks project to get it packed! :)

ellliebelle · 02/11/2012 21:45

honey thats great news and so exciting that you can see him improving :)
kate we have breakfast with santa booked for 16th (due 24th) not sure if im being totally rediculous but planning to be there with or without baby unless im actually in labour :) if i am ill get my mum to take the dd's although will be sad to miss it.

Quick question for those with GD just wondering if you will be accepting/refusing induction and what your thoughts are on it?

AlisonDB · 02/11/2012 22:04

Great news about Dash!
He sounds like he's a little champ, hopefully he'll be home soon!
It must have been lovely to hear him cry for the 1st time too.

I love hearing your updates about him! Xx

Cookiesandcream06 · 02/11/2012 22:36

stacey glad you are back safe and sound :) these babies like the attention I'm sure!

That's lovely honey fingers crossed not too long to wait, sounds like he's making great progress.

Warning TMI moment - lost another quite big blob of what I do think is plug tonight.. Haven't told DP as I think he would vomit. Maybe I've overdone it today? Did build the crib single handed whilst occupying DD and cooking dinner (after cleaning out the rabbit and going to the gym?!)

Oh and Alison I had very much 'typical* girl pregnancy last time but quite a bit different this time and girl again. Although everyone seems to be convinced its going to be a boy in pink floral dresses but after 3 scans I'm forced to believe!

Just wondering what fixing pains are clarella ?! Am I being thick?!

Hope all is ok pidj sounds like that body is getting itself ready for its marathon !

CODwidow · 02/11/2012 22:49

Oo cookies how many weeks are you now?

I've spent all last night and today with very strong/uncomfortable sometimes painful bh? Not sure as also have very bad backache like period pain but still only 34+2 so hoping its nothing else just yet. Although did find myself throwing a few bits into a bag earlier as my feeble attempt so far is rubbish! Planning on spending tomorrow afternoon organising it a little better after football and ice skating drop offs Grin

Clarella · 02/11/2012 22:55

Lovely news honey though frustrating - can't they give you any indication when he may come out?

Glad all is ok Stacey - quite a worry.

Fixing pains - last sun night when I had strange pains and felt odd on the Monday - fluey and out of it - so got checked out for a uti (clear - but didn't want to think it might be anything else!) I told the mw on Tuesday and she said 'fixing pains' - and then told me he was engaged. I'd had odd feelings most of last week, strong pushing down bh, odd toilet stuff and v hormonal, then a very long swim on Sunday afternoon which I think triggered some more movement. The most concerning thing for me at the time was the lower back ache, but the mw said all the extra pressure on the cervix etc as they drop can irritate everything triggering menstrual like cramps and odd pains. I'd not come across it in any books etc.

I felt it similar to uti for me - It is important to check out possible uti as I think Alison said? As it can.trigger early labour, it turns out our early nct baby was likely to have been because of this plus a lot of stress (she was handling a big stressful case in court, went into labour during it)

Definately feeling the difference of an engaged head, especially difficult watching bridesmaids dvd earlier, gave pelvic floor a proper work.out!

Clarella · 02/11/2012 22:58

Ooo cod it was just like that but you will be more experienced!

Secondsop · 02/11/2012 23:01

ellie I'm happy with an early induction. I understand that there is a risk of the placenta working less well after 38 weeks for GD babies and I don't want to run that risk. especially now that i'm on metformin i understand induction at 38 weeks is even more important to limit the time that excess sugar goes through to the baby. I also have had high blood pressure in the pregnancy so for that reason as well it would be better to induce while the going is good.

Cookiesandcream06 · 02/11/2012 23:03

COD we have the same due date ! I've been getting a lot more of the pressure and pains but not engaged althoigh I know i prob won't. A lot lot more BHs this time around. Have lost a few quite big snot balls of mucus (gross gross gross) for the past two weeks I really don't think it means anything but it's bloody gross no red/brown/pinkness to it thank goodness

WillYouDoTheFandango · 02/11/2012 23:10

Ellie I'll also be accepting the induction. My blood sugar is very well controlled so no worries about the baby being exposed to excess sugar, but the thought if the placenta failing so close to the end is just too scary for me. It will also probably mean that we'll be out of hospital just before Christmas (all being well) which would be nice Smile

datingthedevil · 02/11/2012 23:46

Thank you all for being so lovely and welcoming me to the group Smile.

Are all of your babies lying the way they should? Mine is currently transverse so he's right under my ribs all the time - I'm wondering if this is why I've got a smallish bump? (I'm sick of people telling me what a 'neat' bump I have).

What stage did you pack your hospital bags? I'm worried I'm going to look like I'm packing for a fortnight holiday in the sun (believe me, I'd much rather go on holiday than to hospital).

Hope you all have a great weekend x

Saphiesgirl · 03/11/2012 00:49

Was at mw today for fortnightly bp check. It's been higher than normal but still below limit where they worry. Had per eclampsia last time and they monitoring closely. She said I don't have to, but she encouraged me to be signed off work by dr and got me to make appt for next week- she said ok to cancel if I chose.
Had hoped she'd say similar at start of oct, but now feel surprisingly down as only 2 weeks left at work before mat leave. I feel I'm nearly there but don't want to do anything silly. A aargh! Dh is being very black and white about it all but I think I want to keep working? Sounds silly but classes of teenagers are easier to deal with than my ds(2.8)! At least I can eat lunch and sit in peace for brief periods at school!
Any thoughts? Mw said I don't have to- bp is 138/82 and it's been up and down throughout. I know I'll be able to nap etc once off and no medals for staying on. Thought I'd give it weekend and see how I am on mon- dr appt is wed. Thoughts please?
Baby also seems to be staying breech. Had traumatic labour with ds1 and start Hypnobirthing on wed (NHS). Will be going anyway as I'm trying to get baby to turn. I'm told Hypnobirthing is great and I'm all psyched up now. Despite fear of labour (had PTSD then pnd last time- still have flashbacks!) was keen to try this instead of section but somewhat relieved the choice may be out my hands. I'm 32 and 4 just now.
Sorry for rant, dh trying to help but as I said, I'm surprised by my negative feelings about it now! Am I being silly? Can anyone who had cs last time share any tips etc please? I know it's been discussed but been so focussd in mental prep for vb, I've not really thought about cs!

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2012 06:01

Nothing over night so no panic yet here Wink

No idea re GD stuff, sorry

Dating, I'm quite small (to the naked eye, mw is satisfied!) just put it down to abs of steel and a body built for babymaking if you get fed up with comments :o

Saphie, i work with teens (just pt youth work at the moment) and leaving them feels like letting them down somehow. I know my bunch would be really upset if i buggered off early, they're almost as excited as i am!!

Secondsop · 03/11/2012 06:05

saphiesgirl why don't you do as you suggest and wait till the weekend is out and youve had your bp checked again before making a decision? My bp has been around what yours is now, throughout (well, since they put me on a shed load of medication to keep it down, as it zoomed up to 180/110 at about 16 weeks) so 132/82 is not high for me but I know that these things are relative and depend on the person. Mine went so high that nobody was happy with me walking around with it like that and I was admitted to hospital, but it sounds like your situation is different; the mid wife's advice may be out of an abundance of caution. Did they take more than one reading at your last appointment?

Walnut8 · 03/11/2012 07:32

Trying to catch up after a few days without checking!

Had a very busy day yesterday and ended up with strong BH pushing down and could feel Lo's head down low. Lots of mucous too (sorry) ... felt nauseous and worried something was wrong. Went to doctor this morning and had a swab done as some of the discharge was pale yellow/green (yuck, sorry again).

I'm carrying low and apparently all in front and having a girl. DD was spread across and low, like strawberry described.

Welcome dating - I wouldn't worry about packing too much. I'm sure they are used to it. If you can though, perhaps just bring one cabin bag for an overnight stay and labour and then get someone to bring a second bag if you stay longer. Birthing suites often arent very big.

Saphie, I have several friends opting for planned c-sections this time around after a traumatic first birth (both of which ended in emergency c-sections anyway). They sound quite straight-forward ... having said that I don't want to talk you out of a vb ... I think for both friends it came down to the likelihood that they would have another traumatic birth (likely in both cases due to different factors)

Bellaboo123 · 03/11/2012 07:42

saphiesgirl i was in a similar situation to u a couple of weeks ago. Doc thought I had early signs of PE, was over doing it at work and baby is breech and causing my chest and rib pain. The talked about signing me off but to be honest I wasn't ready yet. Basically I had 2.5 days plus the weekend and just really took it easy and then went back to work. I've consciously tried to slowdown a bit and I've feeling better. I was climbing the walls those few days I was home. I'm now 34.4w and finish work on 30/11 all going well. My DP was very b&W telling me to sign off etc but only you know how you feel/ if ur ready.

honey great news on dash how are you feeling?

Bellaboo123 · 03/11/2012 07:43

Oooh and I hadn't even thought about CS too as was going MW led but I'm now of the opinion if she doesn't turn it'll be what it'll be!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 03/11/2012 08:18

I have feet shaped feet!!!!! Yay! Lol

Tadpole had a fidget this morning, still quite quiet but I suppose I'm 34 weeks tomo so maybe it's just natural s/he slows now?!

It's DHs birthday today and he won't let me out of his sight after yest! Poor thing was quite worried i was fine honest I did not have my bp go from 150/88 when I got there to 115/67 when I'd heard the heartbeat

Then it's ds's birthday tomo although he doesn't get back from his dads until 6pm and no doubt after the jetlag from flying and the weekend with XH he will need to go straight to bed so we're postponing it until mon!

I never knew that they induced GD babies early, you lot teach me new stuff all the time.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 03/11/2012 09:18

Morning ladies, anyone else BOILING? I looked like this -> Angry last night! I slept with the window open and when I got up to shit it at 1, DP thought it was time to get up for work. Took me ages to convince him it was 6:30 yet and get him to come back to bed Grin

saphie may be spelled wrong have baby brain I agree with seconds I'd go to the appt on Wednesday have your bp checked and decide then with the doctor's help. I know you don't want to let anyone down (I'm the same) but your health and baby's health comes first

I'm off to buy some hospital nighties today! Bought my big black post-birth knickers yesterday in the sainsburys 25% off event. and a sleeping bag and snowman costume

Going to wash all my little bags and my snow suit today, eek can't wait!

emilyeggs · 03/11/2012 09:19

willyou hahahaha you got up to shit it? GrinGrinGrin

emilyeggs · 03/11/2012 09:22

I got some night shirts from primark £4.50 each. Nice and roomy Smile

EggsMichelle · 03/11/2012 09:31

Walnut do you mind Letting me know your swab results when you get them. I've had yellow/green discharge (looks like urine coloured snot!) for a few weeks now. After initially mentioning it to the midwife (only concerned if it was bright green) she recommended I get the GP to swab it, but typical me I have ignored it Hmm
