Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I have no idea Pidj I've been getting stabbing pains in my cervix when I walk around but nothing like that as yet.

Mummycox · 02/11/2012 18:25

Cracking back ache just under left shoulder blade, any ideas how to shift it? The ball is not helping, nor is the sofa.

All out front and boy. Surely it's more to do with your build than it is baby?

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 18:27

Braxton hicks make my whole bump go hard pidj so I'm not sure. I suppose just keep an eye on it?

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 18:30

Same here, Strawberry, this is the same but comfy on the sofa with my feet up. Will watch out for bump hardening - can you just feel it generally, or do you have to put your hand on it to feel it?

MyDaydream · 02/11/2012 18:34

My bump is low and at the front and I'm having a boy, I don't get any old wives tales or input from people, mostly people saying "are you happy about it? Did you want a girl?". I never know what to say without sounding rude, I was expecting a girl (no boys on my side of the family) but wanted a healthy baby to put in wellies and take splashing through puddles when it's old enough.
We were talking about our scan with our friends last weekend and they were asking how we know it's a boy or if we just got told. I ended up describing the penis we saw as massive and had to backtrack in case they thought I was doing some weird mummy bragging about the size of my sons penis!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 18:35

Well I can feel it without touching but I've been getting them since week sixteen and they're pretty frequent and strong. It's different for everyone though. It feels rock hard to touch I reckon I could knock someone out with it Wink

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 18:39

Not rock hard, but definitely firm. Bit like when he pushes his bum out, but all over iyswim?

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 18:50

Sounds like it to me! They might get stronger over the next few weeks. With dd they were only painful once and I was 1cm dilated after that night so I think if they get painful it means your body is doing more than practising!

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 18:54

It's not stop-in-tracks painful, but definitely noticeable. Maybe 2 or 3 on the scale, with 1 being a papercut and 10 being burnt at the stake?

If they get frequent or regular I'll call the ward :)

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 18:59

Ah everything is getting ready! Grin

Mummycox · 02/11/2012 19:03

Sounds like Braxton hicks to me, have had low ones this week which made me swear out loud in front of a client as baby is right on the nerve. Feel for you pidj.

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 19:07

Blush Mummycox how did you get out of that one ?!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 19:08

I'm sitting on the arm chair rocking as my back/hip pain is pretty bad-another form of braxton hicks!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/11/2012 19:16

Ooh that sounds interesting pidj obviously you must keep us informed throughout the evening!

I think I had braxton hicks when I had more water as my bump kept going rock hard but no real pain just uncomfortable (actual uncomfortable, not dr 'it's going to hurt like fuck' uncomfortable).

So I've filled a whole suitcase with stuff to take to hospital, so much so that I've still got things to go into it. I think I am going to have to split into a labour bag and an after delivery bag..not feeling very organised right now.

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 19:32

4/5 in 3 hours is hardly cause for excitement :o

I've got 2 labour bags, one for me and one for PidjChick. Plus a carrier of food, but that's mostly for dp and the mw, i think!

I have two sections separated by my towel - bottom is toiletries and clean nightie etc that I'll need afterwards, top is stuff for during eg lavender oil, skanky nightie, baby oil (for massage), TENS (if my mate gets it out of her attic!), pads etc

PidjChick has 2 vests, 2 baby grows, 2 hats, a pack of nappies and some cotton wool!

Plan is for dp to call the parents when I'm in the shower, so I'll get mine (just up the road, holders of emergency key) to grab anything i need on the way over :)

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 19:33

Oh, and PidjChick's blanket which is currently on our bed so it smells of mummy and daddy...

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 19:39

Aww lovely! So organised too! I'm definitely going to do that with the blanket such a lovely idea. My hip pain has stopped now, reminded me of being in labour with dd eek!

Clarella · 02/11/2012 19:40

Could be 'fixing pains' pidg?

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 19:50

I can't remember where i got the idea, but apparently it helps them settle? I want dp to do skin to skin asap too, but they're big on that kind of stuff round here:)

What are fixing pains?

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 19:52

Just bought changing bag and bauble Grin

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/11/2012 19:58

I read that too, washed the blanket the other day and suppose I'd better start sleeping with it soon! dd keeps coming into our room in the morning and giving me her blankie or her teddy to sleep with and so I've ended up sleeping with them instead, seems to help me sleep better.

I'm excited by any twinge...it'll get tiring in a couple of weeks!!

EggsMichelle · 02/11/2012 19:59

I keep getting pain like a pulled muscle in my groin, doing my head in!

I have one bag with all the baby stuff in, which is also his changing bag. Then my bag has all my pre/post labour stuff plus snacks and drinks for both of us. I consider myself a dab hand at packing, and very chuffed I got everything I need into my little sports holdall. My MW mother was very impressed with the content of my bag (well prepared) and I have you ladies to thank for that!

emilyeggs · 02/11/2012 20:00

My bag all packed, just one little wheelie case. Might get the blanket out and sleep with it now Smile any one else get a pain the breast bone?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 02/11/2012 20:16

Thanks for the welcome home. My ears a lot better, not 100% but a lot better and didn't cause pain on the flight (although I was still necking paracetamol).

Well we spent 2 hrs this evening in triage having a trace done on tadpole. When we flew out last week s/he went mad on take off and landing (I'm assuming due to pressure change) today however I had some movement on take off and then nothing (that would have been around 6am gmt) so when we got home at 4 I did the cold water/something sweet/lying on my left and got nothing so rang the hospital and was told to go in. Obviously tadpole decided to show mummy to be a liar and was moving around, although it still wasn't our 'normal' movement, but the heartbeat was good and they were happy to send me home. I've got midwives on Monday anyway and they've booked me in for monitoring on tues afternoon but told me to cancel it if movement returns to normal. The midwife was also very unhappy I hadn't had a GTT as my dad is diabetic. But my midwife said I didn't need one so hadn't had one. But I now have strict instructions to make an appointment.

Sorry that turned into a rather long post Blush

emilyeggs · 02/11/2012 20:23

Glad to hear tadpole ok stacey better to be safe Smile glad your ear is also better Grin
