I've got 'rib flare' which causes aches which aren't baby. Could it be that? I guess it depends on the type of pain, how painful it is, and how long it lasts...

I find sitting up excessively straight and taking some deep breaths makes me rib pain better. If that works (or maybe a bath?) then it's probably something muscular and not to worry about. My midwife wasn't concerned once she'd decided it was a muscle pain.

gilsbubbles · 02/11/2012 13:52

Thanks for all the advice, I've listened and have agreed with work that i'll finish up next week rather than battling on for another 2.
All seems pretty imminent now.... off to an NCT nearly new sale tomorrow to see if we can pick up some of the things that we'd like but arent essential..... Wish me luck, I've heard they can be a bit mental and riot-like

Welcome dating

I'm not sending Christmas cards this year, unless lo makes an early December appearance. I don't like the idea of sending them short one name. Thank yous and birth announcements are for the New Year. I sent Thank yous with all the details and a picture of the baby the previous 2 times. However I think the chances of me finding the template on the computer are slim.

I'm sad about my CHristmas tree this year, we've dug our own up for the past 6 years and this year I really don't think I should. Again ds's not impressed. I'm putting up decorations second weekend in December, baby permitting.

I'm also in a quandary about visiting Santa this year. I don't think ds1 still believes, but ds2 still does, so I want him to go, but dread the thought of booking something and then not being able to take him Sad Anyone else care to share their Santa plans?

I'm having to keep my leg hair under control because of the hydrotherapy. I try and go over them every other day with the epilator and that seems to do it.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 14:10

Thanks stacks sounds likely its gone now anyway. I do wonder if its related to my crash as my back is still hurting too.

Kate can't you go to a Santa you don't need to book? Like at a garden centre or shopping centre?

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 14:11

gils get your elbows out Wink

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 02/11/2012 15:14

Gah, just thought of a better thread title...

DASHing through the snow...

WillYouDoTheFandango · 02/11/2012 15:58

Welcome back stacey get those legs up, and plenty f water to flush through the retention.

Hi dating

I cannot believe you're all discussing Christmas cards, I'm due quite late (22nd, induction ~14th) so I feel like I have loads if time once I start may leave on the 1st. May be kidding myself!

I'm in a foul mood today, the friends I normally go to bonfires with (& have for 5 years) have decided they're taking someone else. So my options are pay £20 to park a car on my own, or walk 2 miles in the complete dark up a dirt track at 8 months pregnant! Now the friend is texting me Sad faces as she can't believe I'm not going this year! selfish bitch I'm really Angry actually as they only told me they were going when I asked them the plans, even though it turns out they'd invited everyone else. Grr!

pmgkt · 02/11/2012 16:04

Emily im afraid its an old wives tale. Ds1 and this boy have both had markedly less hair than normal on legs. Underarms are normal though.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 16:05

Willyou that's rubbish Sad and really unfair of them I expect they just didn't think

EggsMichelle · 02/11/2012 16:50

Welcome back Stacey, the weather has behaved to welcome you home!

My friend is driving me crackers with old wives tales, every part of my pregnancy has been "oh that's odd as you are having a boy", I have to remind her every time she is talking poo!

Willyou that does suck, I'm trying to persuade DH to take me to a bonfire tomo, we don't normally go but since I have no social life out side going to a ball pit with friends 18m old, I think I need some adult time out!

emilyeggs · 02/11/2012 17:01

Is it also an old wives take about how you carry the baby? I'm upset at people telling me I'm having a boy all the time! (not that I'd mind a boy, just wanted a surprise). I'm told i'm all front and 'neat'. Any of you been told one thing then had the other? I'm at the point where id be surprised if I had a girl now

WillYouDoTheFandango · 02/11/2012 17:04

thanks folks, I know they've not done it out of spite, but it's still shitty. Me n DP are going to try to find a weekend one as he plays footie Mondays

Emily I also think that you carry how you carry, I'm all front and neat (boy) but my mum said she carried exactly the same (2 girls). They have a 50/50 chance of being right I suppose Smile

AlisonDB · 02/11/2012 17:17

Willyou,
That's rotten of them, but maybe they just didnt think?!

I had something similar a a month or so ago,
A group of my girl friends and i usually go to the cinema yogether whenever the local one has a "Ladies night" (ususlly bubbly and snacks before the film, with comps to win spa vouchers etc)
anyway this particular night they went to the cinema to see a film, without telling me,
When I questioned them about it (in a nice way)
Their answer was "ooh we didn't think you would make it as it was the late showing"
To which I said well next time please ask then I can make my own mind up, they where upset that they had upset me!

emilyeggs · 02/11/2012 17:28

Is it also a wives tale about how you carry?

emilyeggs · 02/11/2012 17:29

I wanted a surprise but keep getting told I'm having a boy

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2012 17:43

I carried all out front with dd (think basket ball up the top) and an exactly the same this time expecting a boy Smile

emilyeggs · 02/11/2012 17:46

Thanks spotty , I don't mind having a boy, just wanted a surprise and think I'll be shocked of I have a girl now

Secondsop · 02/11/2012 17:51

emily my mum carried at the front for all 3 of her pregnancies. All girls!

willyou that is really rubbish of your friends. It does sound like they've been thoughtless rather than mean, but I know that doesn't help much.

Just been to my first NCT class. Loads of information - lots to digest. But I didn't enjoy the discussion of perineal stretching :(

EggsMichelle · 02/11/2012 17:52

I'm all front, my friend is all over (ended up just looking fat) and both are boys. My SIL was all at the front and she had a girl. Morning sickness is also an OWT.

PrunellaDeVille · 02/11/2012 17:54

emily right with you, carrying out front an 'neat' so even strangers are telling me i'm having a boy though i don't know.
i'm also pretty much convinced having been told so often and the clothes are starting to reflect this.
all other old wives tale methods have come back 50/50, inconclusive.

giraffe213 · 02/11/2012 17:55

I keep getting told I'm having a boy because I went off sweet food (that's gone out the window now though!) and for a number of other reasons I can't remember. Then a lady I'd only just met had a good feel around the sides of my bump and told me I'm having a girl because she could feel the bump on my sides, even though it wasn't really showing. So many people seem to think I'm having a boy that I'm determined it'll be a girl just to prove them wrong! also because the clothes are so much cuter...
I suspect it is a boy though because at my 20 week scan the sonographer was so very careful not to let me see anything below the waist after finding out I wanted a surprise, that I'm thinking there must have been something really obvious down there that he didn't want me to see!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/11/2012 17:56

Evening everyone! Welcome back Stacey How are your ears?

Alison and Willyou That's rubbish, sometimes friends can be over cautious! Last pg I used to get texts at 3am in the morning telling me about parties I should be at and it made me cry because I felt like I was missing out but there was no way I would have gone. This time I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything, hot chocolate and bed by 8 for the next 8-9 months for me and then I might venture into an evening social event again.

I was told last time I was having a boy, the mw referred to the baby as a boy before I gave birth...I was very shocked when I found out I had a girl...high on gas and air and I believe I said 'that's nice' when dh told me and then 'WHAT??'. I just sat holding her and staring at her all night. Lovely shock.

Long post, sorry! The health visitor came round today, I felt a bit awkward because she is about 20 I know that's really ageist and I'm only 30 it just felt like I'd been through birth and bringing up dd so I wasn't sure how she could help. She was also asking me questions like 'how did you feel when you found out you were pregnant?' really lightly veiled questions Hmm. I'm sure I'm probably being very unreasonable but it did annoy me. She told me of some local groups for after the baby is born so that was helpful as last time I didn't bother but I now see that it is quite important to make friends with babies.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/11/2012 17:58

Oooh and my tummy spread out all over and low with dd, I was huge but with this one it's quite neat and out front and I'm having another girl.

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2012 18:06

I'm all in front, 2 scans say boy, have been told both by people!

Every so often (like, 3-4 times in the last couple of hours) i get a painful itchy clenching sensation at the bottom of my bump/pubic bone area. Is he just moving into my bladder/cervix, or is it Braxton Hicks?
