Morning ladies, good luck for those with scans today.
I'm going to pop into the midwife drop in session today, just want my bp checking, I did a 12 hr shift yesterday my back is so sore and my feet and hands are swollen!
I had really bad braxton-hicks at work not painful, but uncomfortable and difficult to move around, doesn't help I'm the size of a whale!
Sorry for the moan!

Mama1980 · 19/11/2012 09:11

Morning all good luck today empress and sneezy! Smile
I hope you all had good weekends. Mine was nice but exhausting. I have a repeat scan today and a visit from my consultant the guy who officially decides everything so am a little nervous.
Is anyone else looking really pregnant now? I seem to be huge already all bump and boobs!

SneezySnatcher · 19/11/2012 10:12

It's a boy! I'm so excited but really shocked (only one boy in my extended family of 12 cousins and their many offspring!).

DD has said all along it's a boy!

He was very awkward though. I had to keep rolling over so that the sonographer could get a clear view of the heart. It was worth it though!

BonaDea · 19/11/2012 10:17

sneezy - great news and congratulations! Well, at least you'll have your pick of the blue names in your family Wink

mama good luck with your appointment and do report back.

I switch between feeling HUGE one minute and then feel as if sometimes I'm back into that phase of looking fat not pregnant!

aufaniae · 19/11/2012 10:18

Well done sneezy's-DD! :) DS says ours is a girl - we'll find out next week ...

Mama yes I look really pregnant! I usually live in jeans, but atm I'm too big for my normal jeans but still a bit small for pregnancy jeans, they fall off. May have to finally grow up rethink my wardrobe!

Good luck for the scan today :)

itsaruddygame · 19/11/2012 10:29

Aufanie I am the same - normal jeans too tight and maternity jeans falling down. I look like I am wearing a nappy - not a good look!!

Bump is definately growing all the time now. I am also going to shop now I know its a boy Smile.

Good luck to mama and sneezy and anyone else having scans today!

EmpressMatilda · 19/11/2012 11:03

Great scan, everything looking good. A great relief after the 12 week one was so difficult!

Congrats sneezy Same story here.

We are also having a boy! We have families full of girls. The only men in our son's life will be DH and my dad (DH's dad died a long time ago) and they are both in many ways un-typical men in that they totally hate sport and that sort of thing. No idea who's going to take him to football if he turns out to be interested in that!

But at the same time I am really happy and smiley as he is healthy and I am quite content with that. The fact he's not a girl seems irrelevant in that context.

Just so, so relieved and happy!

One thing -my placenta is at the front which I am assured is fine but also means the blows from the baby have been cushioned. Explains why DH can't feel them from the outside but I've been feeling plenty from the inside. Just think how strong it must be for everyone else!

Missmuffet28 · 19/11/2012 11:19

Congrats guys!!
hurry up Friday, hurry up Friday!!!!

19+1

birdbrain17 · 19/11/2012 11:40

I'm getting really excited for wednesday now the next couple of days are going to be so slow!!! How long does the scan take (I know it depends on how difficult the baby is but hoping for an approximation...have to let work know what time I'll be back so they can arrange cover)

ratbagcatbag · 19/11/2012 12:29

Yey, more good scan news. :)

Can I ask a question, how's the weight gain going for everyone? I was always little and very rounded, my BMI was 34 and I have weighed 13 stone forever, I lost half a stone between weeks 10 and 12 due to a bug and even though I am now in maternity Jeans and work trousers I am just back up to 13 stone, so the same weight I have been all along my adult life.

My boobs haven't grown thank god and the only place I have added any weight is on my stomach, midwife says it's fine but at 21 weeks I expected to be heavier than this.

Anyone else the same or is it just me?

ratbagcatbag · 19/11/2012 12:29

doh 21+1 sneaky end of March DD

kellestar · 19/11/2012 12:33

So good to hear all the exciting scan news! getting a few more boys on the list now! Our scan is a week on thursday.

I've picked up DD's cough and it's a pain in the bump, it really aches. I've also developed SUI as a result of all this coughing, had to get some tena lady yesterday as I was worried about all the leaking. Feeling quite pathetic today.

birdbrain I think they say two hours, just in case, as you are seen by a nurse after to take BP, Dip Urine etc. Or they do in my area.

Mama1980 · 19/11/2012 12:59

Congratulations everyone with wonderful scan news Smile
kellestar hope you are feeling better soon

Back on the ward now scan went well I'm still bleeding but no better no worse as far as the placenta goes. Feeling very very tired. My consultant was positive but stressed that it all depends on my reaching 24 weeks. He also mentioned the possibility of baby being transferred to the royal london hospital if he needs any care they are not prepared for once he is born he said that was something I needed to prepare myself for just in case. Definite feeling of déjà vu my ds was operated on there.

toobreathless · 19/11/2012 13:41

LOVING hearing everyone's scan news! It's so exciting. The boys have now officially overtaken the girls :)

6 girls
7 boys
7 surprises.

usernamegoeshere · 19/11/2012 13:54

congrats on scan news!

I had my consultant appointment today, all is fine am still low risk but being given tablets to stop heartburn pre-emptively as I had previous tummy problems. Also being referred to physio cos I am a great big wuss and can't possibly manage 5 more months unable to turn in bed without it hurting!

Heard heartbeat! It sounded exactly like a galloping horse, can't remember if that means girl or boy... only Friday till I find out anyway but was nice to get heartbeat since I'm still not sure on movements.

I think I look fat rather than pregnant.

itsaruddygame · 19/11/2012 14:38

ratbag I gained a half a stone by week 8 Blush and nothing since (am 20 + 5. The half a stone was helped along by a holiday to Italy and lots of pasta too! Then the nausea kicked in and I have only just started to enjoy my food again.

I do get the feeling that the none weight gain won't last much longer though. I feel like I am getting bigger by the day!

Mama sounds like good news if things are not getting worse with your placenta. Everything crossed for you!

itsaruddygame · 19/11/2012 14:41

username glad your appointment went well. That must be a relief.

leluella · 19/11/2012 15:23

Congratulations to everyone who's had loveley scan news, can't wait for mine on Thursday!

Ratbag on the weight gain subject I think I'm up about 11lb (at 19+6) from starting weight of 9st 7, I'm worried this is quite a bit. I am eating a lot more than I normally do but still exercising but its definatley a lot of fat gain rather than bump gain. I'm off to Barbados in a couple of weeks time so making an effort not to overeat in the next couple of weeks!

somewherebecomingrain · 19/11/2012 15:34

ratbag i was 13 stone when i got pregnant - the baby weight from my DS three (cough's embarassedly) years ago. Blush. i was always 10.5 before. bmi at 13 stone was 29.9 so i must be taller than you.

now i'm well over 14 stone, if i can stop at 15 stone i'll be happy. yes so far gained 1 stone and about 3 1b. better than last time when by now I had gained 2 stone, but worse than i hoped.

i do have size J breasts so i like to tell myself that if i had say, size D breasts i might be a stone lighter.

19+5 by dates, 20 by scan

xx

BonaDea · 19/11/2012 15:57

I have gained about 6kgs (13 lbs) since getting pregnant which I think is quite a lot given that most of the weight gain is supposed to happen in the second half... Mind you, I was probably quite light (for me) just before getting pregnant as I was getting married and was seriously hitting the gym to fit into my dress, so perhaps I would have put on some of those lbs anyway...

Then again, something else I read said if you were a healthy BMI to start with (I was) you should be gaining between 25-35lbs during the whole thing so I suppose on that basis I am still just about on track.

I feel like my face is getting fat. was at pregnancy yoga on Saturday and there were lots of slim girls with these perfect beach ball bumps just stuck on the front whereas I feel like I am gaining all over....

SneezySnatcher · 19/11/2012 18:13

Congratulations Empress. My placenta is anterior too. It was low at 12 weeks but it's moved up now so it's another thing to stop worrying about.

In other me, me, me news, I got an outstanding in my observation so it's a celebratory Chinese for us tonight!

Missmuffet28 · 19/11/2012 18:19

Mmmm Chinese now I could kill for a Chinese!

(Sorry had to add that)

lutrinae · 19/11/2012 18:34

I've also gained a stone. I reckon sometimes I look preggers, sometimes fat depending on whether it's morning (fat) or evening (pregnant) and how baggy my clothes are.

Had a lovely weekend, my mum is visiting and we went shopping for some maternity clothes which is awesome as I now have jeans I can fit into. Also 2 items of H&M Mama clothing from Oxfam for £5.50 in total. Charity shops ftw!

On the downside my restless, itchy legs are keeping me up at night, it's maddening.
Got some raspberry leaf tea today - anyone know if it works?

20+1

lutrinae · 19/11/2012 18:47

p.s. am I allowed to be added to the stats thread Blush

JaquelineHyde · 19/11/2012 18:52

Evening one and all. So pleased to hear all the good news coming in now, scans, Mama and bumps continued good health and now sneezy's outstanding observation Grin Congratulations one and all.

My scan is years away still, I'm not even excited about it yet two and a half weeks just seems sooooooo long away.

I have lost 12lb since finding out I was pregnant and I'm over the moon with it Grin Don't worry though ladies I am on the larger side and can expect to continue to lose weight healthily until the 3rd trimester not like all you skinny minnies who can gain healthily from day 1.

Still exhausted here and on the countdown to my Christmas holiday can't believe how close Christmas is now. I'm so excited Smile

18+4
