Jaqueline I was thinking about you today wondering when your MW appt is, at least its almost here now. I'm sure it will be fine & will be a massive relief to get it over with. My thoughts are with you tomorrow, will be looking out for your update!

Hi all

Feel like I am a long way behind all of you as due 30th April- had 16 week midwife appt today. Had a nice surprise as heard the heartbeat (wasnt expecting to after some of your experiences). Sounded like horses galloping, cant remember if thats meant to be a boy or a girl..

Midwife said I need to get on the case with booking Antenatal classes. Cant decide between the free NHS ones or NCT. Heard NCT is good for meeting people but the NHS ones are more local to me. What is everyone else going for?

Good luck everyone with their 20 week scans...I have another 4 weeks to go til mine which seems like ages

LikeCandy · 14/11/2012 21:57

Jacqueline I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - let us know how it goes xx

I'm 20w today, and we've got out 20w scan tomorrow afternoon. Excited and nervous in equal measures!

Brew for all and Thanks for those who need them!

bext · 14/11/2012 21:57

Hi Jo, I'm due April 30th as well, so we can be behind everyone else together!! Our scan does feel ages away doesn't it? Mine is on December 20th - when's yours?

We've gone for NCT although it was very expensive and they weren't very friendly when I booked. I've heard mixed reports but the consensus locally seems to be they are good for meeting like-minded people.

Missmuffet28 · 14/11/2012 22:08

Ow ow ow :( I'm in some serious pain! I can barely walk and I'm hurting just laying here in bed its my groin region not my groin but my pelvis maybe?? I'm not sure i just know its all aching REAL bad it feels like iv been kicked in the well you know the .... A few days ago and now is all bruised and aching except obviously I haven't been, have I just over done it at work yesterday or is that a symptom of something terrible?
I worked 5 hours tues and 4 on the Monday it was really really busy both days so I was rushing round the stock room picking pretty much whole time, up ladders down ladders up stairs down stairs some heavy stuff in the mix too then I stupidly agreed to a couple more hours this evening as they were short but warned them I could hardly move, which is why maybe I think it's that, please put my mind at rest someone and tell me my symptoms aren't anything pregnancy related, I'm one of those who won't go doctors or ring for advice for fear of time wasting! :(

lili86 · 14/11/2012 22:09

Glad everyone is getting well with scans and appts!
Jacqueline i would try not to worry, my friend had a similar experience and was told because she carried a little extra weight around her tum it can be harder to find (also placenta in the way). Everything turned out fine, but its unfair to leave you with worry.

I had my 16wk appt with midwife today, which lasted all of 5 mins! No offer of hearing heartbeat because they no longer offer it till 22weeks! I was looking forward to hearing it (also very anxious about not finding it) but now have to wait for 20wk scan. which i still dont have a date for!

love and luck to you all!

EmpressMatilda · 14/11/2012 22:17

JoRich I think that means a girl. Not sure how accurate it is though!

jaqueline I would say 'don't worry' but that would make me a hypocrite! It does sounds like not finding the heartbeat and the baby not moving for a few days are both really common things. So hopefully there will be good news for you.

This waiting is awful, isn't it?! I have been so busy, but nothing is able to push out the impatience and faint worry.

MumofWombat · 14/11/2012 22:31

Eek! Three hours until my scan! Today is also DHs birthday and we've decided to ask the sonographer to write the gender in an envelope and we will open when we are at lunch. Soooo excited!

I'm excited inside, but I might look more excited if pregnancy insomnia would bloomin well bugger off....

Ollibobs · 14/11/2012 22:33

MissMuffet sorry to hear you are in pain. Could it be SPD/PGP? My physio told me to avoid doing anything on one foot as it can affect the pelvis, perhaps it was the climbing the ladder that caused the pain?

jj247 · 14/11/2012 22:47

Missmuffet, try googling pgp (pelvic girdle pain), it could be to do with the joints in your pelvis going out of alignment. If it doesn't get any better then go see your doctor. The good news is if that is the problem a good physio can manipulate it back into alignment so you won't have to suffer for long. Hopefully the pain has gone away by now though and you can ignore all of the above :)
Starting to get frustrated, still no idea when 20 week scan is :( lovely hearing all your scan news though, super exciting :)

Hi all-
We have our 20 wk scan today- eek! Am excited but nervous. Will report back later.

Good luck today Jacqueline xx

bunnygirl80 · 15/11/2012 07:01

jaqueline fingers crossed you get some reassurance at your appointment today. I would definitely demand an immediate scan if they still struggle to find a hb

toobreathless I felt a bit weird too when I found out this ones a girl. I think I just had myself soooo convinced its a boy I'd pretty much picked out a name and got DS's old clothes out of storage. My reaction really surprised me because last time I was desperate for a girl, and disappointed to be getting a boy. Now I'm finally getting my girl I'm still not happy. There's just no pleasing some people Grin

missmuffet that pain sounds almost identical to my SPD pain, just like I've been kicked right in the middle of my crotch/pelvis. It's always worse when I've done too much walking. Mine was sorted by some physio, but it's got worse again this week because DS has been ultra clingy and I've ended up carrying him everywhere.

JaquelineHyde · 15/11/2012 08:01

Morning ladies thank you for all the comments, I know it's just one of those things but it doesn't stop you worrying at all especially with the lack of movement and the abnormalities found at my first scan.

This is my 4th child but only my second biological child if you get what I mean Smile I know I felt ds moving at around this time but I also know that every pregnancy is different, my Mum who has had 7 is always reminding me of this Grin

I'm off now to drop dd at school (the other two are being home schooled as there are no school places for them in their years!) and then we are straight off to the midwifes for 8.45.

I will update as soon as I can but I am on placement today so may not get the chance until later.

Hope you all have a fab day and that we get some more 20 weeks scan news Smile

edinfirst · 15/11/2012 08:04

Good luck today jaqueline

Mama1980 · 15/11/2012 08:19

So great to hear all the exciting scan news Grin
jessiessex congrats on your scan
jacqueline good luck today the worry is awful. I have everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you today.
missmuffet so sorry to hear you are in pain. It sounds like spd maybe or you have just caught a nerve? If it doesn't go i would definitely see your dr. How do you feel today? Sending much sympathy.
mumofwombat and wishfulthinking good luck with your scans today.

Sorry if I've missed anyone :) I'm still bleeding but have another scan myself today to check on baby. I'm so so tired now I know its the blood loss and lack of food etc but I don't seem to have the energy to do anything which is very frustrating. My son was also upset at visiting last night he doesn't really nderstand. We co sleep and he's home educated so being away from me is so strange for him. I saw the physio again yesterday but they can't do anything I think they just come by to let me know they haven't forgotten me which is nice. I'm starting to get worried about breast feeding, I spoke to a midwife yesterday, I was lucky enough to breast feed my ds despite his awful start but here are no guarantees with a prem baby. :( plus I will have to have a op fairly soon after baby is born. Being able to breast feed was so important to me last time it made me feel like at leas my body could something if that makes sense? I ended up feeding him for 3.5 years. So just have my fingers crossed for everything at the moment!
Thanks as always for all the messages you are all great :)

aufaniae · 15/11/2012 08:53

JaquelineHyde good luck for today, I hope all goes well. I'm thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed xx

trying2bpos · 15/11/2012 09:38

Good luck for today jaqueline thinking of you and hoping you get some reassurance today. I know nothing apart from hearing and seeing baby's heartbeat and feeling movements will help but my 16w appt was fairly similar to yours (pulse from placenta heard clearly) and they've just said I have an anterior placenta on 20 w scan.

mama the bf thing makes perfect sense to me and knowing how determined you are try to take some solace in knowing you will give it your absolute best shot which is half the battle with these things (persistence). You are an inspirational mother!

missmuffet I think all the advice has been given but I would say you might need to think about slowing down at work by the sounds of it.

Good luck to all of you having scans today.

My scan with the consultant went really well yesterday, phew! Grin
He was very thorough and got the heart measurements needed and we even saw the coloured blood flow (hope that makes sense). He then spent a while going through everything with us, all organs etc. Baby still camera shy so still haven't got a decent piccie! Might invest in a 3d/4d scan if you ladies recommend it. Just worried we'd spend all that money and still have a camera shy bump! We're having a surprise!

PS one of my friends relatives in america got their sonographer to tell their baker (I know I know, but this was LA) the sex of the baby. The baker then made them a cake which was either blue or pink inside and they had a revealing party with their family where the cake was cut. hehehe! How totally over the top and memememe is that! I think I might actually love it! Not that I would ever do that (I mean my baker knowing before me hehehe).

JaquelineHyde · 15/11/2012 09:45

We have a heartbeat Grin Grin Grin and lots of thumping kicks heard loud and clear!!

So, so pleased a weight has been lifted.

My 20 week scan isn't until Dec 6th so 3 weeks today can't wait now, I feel a little bit properly excited for the first time in ages about it all.

Bloody children why do we bother Grin Grin

Got to go as I need to get to work, first day of my placement in a hospital social work team. Eeek scarey.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 15/11/2012 09:49

trying thanks Smile so pleased your consultant went well.
jacqueline yay! Smile such wonderful news, you have a mischief maker in there trying to scare you! So very happy for you.

trying2bpos · 15/11/2012 10:30

yay yay yay jacqueline Smile

trying2bpos · 15/11/2012 10:31

when's your scan today mama?

BonaDea · 15/11/2012 10:49

Great news on scans and good luck for everyone coming up.

Am also quite tempted by the 4D scan thingie, but not sure if it's OTT. Our wedding photographer who we're going to see in a couple of weeks to get our album finalised (July wedding, honeymoon baby!) has suggested a bump shoot. I told him absolutely NO WAY - no one needs to see that!

20+1

Mama1980 · 15/11/2012 11:03

trying should be soon, its not urgent so I am wheeled down at the end of the clinic. The scans are slightly less terrifying now as I can feel babe moving, but they need to monitor the bleedng, growth, placenta the list seems endless...... Again I'm so happy your appointment went well :)
