JH have you had scan yet? How awful to go through that. I suspect it's just because baby is still quite small, did I remember you saying you have a fuller figure? This is also likely to make it harder.

FWIW, I don't offer to listen to the heartbeat if I see a pregnant lady between 16-24 weeks as I can't guarantee I'll be able to find it & it's not worth the stress to both of us if I can't. I'm not a midwife though.

Hi ladies,

thanks for all the messages.

I am on the larger side (although I have now lost 11lb in the last 11 weeks) so I know it is a bit hit and miss with me at this stage.

However, it's just making me feel really fed up as my 12 week scan didn't show up the best reults (enlarged bladder and a cyst on the placenta) so this just adds to it all.

I'm going back to the midwife next week 8.45am and she said there will be a couple of them in so they will all have a go. If still nothing found I will be off for a scan.

Just another thing I have to try and push out of my mind. I'm feeling really run down at the moment and very sorry for myself. I'm questioning my ability to do all of this at the moment, I'm at that stage where you just feel like something has to give.

LikeCandy · 08/11/2012 19:32

BonaDea such lovely news!

joand steph I felt baby have a good old wriggle on Monday night, but nothing noticeable since. Can't wait until it's more regular, it's lovely just feeling him/her noodling around in there.

I bought a small bottle of gaviscon but I'm not sure what dosage to use? Might try ringing m/w tomorrow to get some guidance. Unlike rennie there's no guidance on their website, just the usual 'consult your Dr first'.

LikeCandy · 08/11/2012 19:35

oh and jaqueline I have my fingers crossed for you, try and relax and look after yourself! Thanks

wishfulthinking1 · 08/11/2012 20:34

jaqueline - I'm thinking if you and hope you're ok. My mw was also very keen to stress, before she tried to find hb, that it was v. Common not to find it at this stage and not to panic- Try not to worry (easier said than done!)

It's exciting to read about the first 20 week scans! Ours is next Thursday, so only a week to wait. I've felt a few movements over this last week, but nothing regular yet.

Is anyone else still weeing all the time? My book said this should be getting better by now, but if anything it's worse than its ever been. I need to wee, and then just 2 minutes later (literally 2 minutes) I need to go again. It's very annoying! and also my left nipple is ridiculously itchy, what is that all about?.
X

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 08/11/2012 21:08

JH did they tell you you had an anterior placenta at your 12 weeks scan? Like someone said, that might explain why the placenta was so loud but she couldn't get to the heart beat. I really hope it turns out ok for you.

Congrats to those who have been scanned! Mine seems like ages away - not 11th December! Just because I'm due at the latter end of the month!

JaquelineHyde · 08/11/2012 21:41

No anterior placenta, apart from the cyst on it nothing was mentioned.

All will be fine, once everything is cleared up at my 20 week scan it will make the last 20 weeks seem like an utter breeze Smile

17 weeks

Roxoroxy · 08/11/2012 21:52

Oh horrah I feel like a normal human being again! I was giving up hope of the MS ever lifting. But now I like food again and I'm not permanently tired and grumpy. One evening last week DH saw me smiling and said it had been the first time in weeks. I think he was also getting worried about me being grumpy forever more.

Baby is defo kicking about quite a bit too. I haven't felt any 'butterflies', just assertive little pokes. Now that I can feel movement I'm also feeling much more of a sense of connection with my little one.

I think I might start enjoying this all now...

jaqueline I hope they manange to find a hb for you next week. FWIW at my appointment on Wednesday, my obstetrician struggled a bit, and she'd literally just scanned me 30 seconds earlier so knew exactly where baby was lying.

wishful I'm weeing more than ever now. I think sometimes the baby just positions itself so it's giving my bladder a good kicking because sometimes the urge to go comes on suddenly then goes away again by the time I've run to the toilet

mama thanks for the clothing advice. I'll go and check out H&M.

Had my 19 week scan today, and everything was looking perfect. The sonographer was very matter of fact and got the whole thing over and done with very quickly. I think if it had been my first ever scan of my PFB I'd have been a bit disappointed, but we'd had to take DS with us, so I was glad she didn't faff about because it meant DH was able to stay in the whole time. And baby is definintely a girl Grin

JaquelineHyde · 09/11/2012 06:50

Roxo Yay for the ms lifting, normal life can now resume. I'm very jealous of those of you who are feeling definite movement. I can't wait for that

Bunny Another Yay for you as well and the perfect scan and I do believe that we now have 2 girls confirmed on the thread. Have I missed any other gender revelations?

It's all so exciting around this time isn't it, movement, a chance to find out the sex, bumps getting more and more visable...Give it another 10-15 weeks and we will all be bitching like mad Grin Grin

Jo1984uk · 09/11/2012 07:58

Thank you Steph, I think u may be right.. I do have a very active job so any movements are probably just getting missed. But like u say can't wait til 20 week scan just to make sure all is ok. We have booked 4d scan for Christmas eve as out present to each other so am getting excited about that too!! Good to hear about your scan bonadea I have been meaning to read up on it to see what actually happens.. Must have been an amazing experience.

toobreathless · 09/11/2012 08:40

bunny great that the scan went so well! And a girl! How lovely given that you've already got a boy!

Mama how are you getting on?

So, so far we have:

1 girl
1 boy
1 surprise.

Who's next to be scanned?? Mine is Tuesday.

jaqueline it must be terribly worrying for you.

Are they going to make you wait till next Thurs? I'm annoyed with them for making you wait! Have you tried phoning the midwife number on the notes, and asking to get seen sooner? I imagine it's possible they might do it if you say the worry is getting to you. I suspect they've told you to come in when your specific midwife is available, but there are different teams of midwives all over town. My surgery (the one by the station) doesn't have a midwife team, so they let me choose which surgery to attend. Grove Rd is Tuesdays I think and Enys Road is Wednesdays, Seaside is Tuesdays & Thursdays, and that's just in my area, there will be loads more in yours, and then there's always the hospital.
If you phone up the central team, perhaps they can get you seen sooner by a different MW, just a thought? I had a different kind of scare in my first pregnancy and I remember the waiting being awful. (Everything was OK in the end)

My MW did warn me the hb can be difficult to find at this stage, there's every chance the all's OK :) Thinking of you, and keeping my fingers crossed xx

trying2bpos · 09/11/2012 10:07

Morning all.

Wonderful scan news Bonadea and bunny. I don't remember mine being that detailed last time Bonadea sounds amazing.

too, giddy and I are being scanned next Tues too. I think someone is having a scan today IIRC. Given the number of us there's probably going be almost a scan a day from now on I'd guess! Exciting!

Hmm the weeing thing for me I think is now due to issues with prev birth. It's not the needing to go all the time now in 2nd tri more the if I have to do anything like walk anywhere (forget running that is not on the cards) it does not matter if I've just been I still need to go SOON! Sad

movements mine are very sporadic so glad some of you feeling the same, I think I felt more at 16w than now so maybe as baby/uterus moves up my flab stomach is making them harder to feel.

trying2bpos · 09/11/2012 10:17

giddy I know what you mean about scans I had a mmc at a 9w scan after having two mcs so am always anxious at them. They always seem to take ages to tell you baby OK too when in reality it's usually about 5s. Take comfort in the fact that we're at a good stage now and the majority of these scans show everything is absolutely fine! Nice you've got a few more scans lined up too so can find out sex later if you change your mind, you could always get them to put in sealed envelope too like someone else on here's doing. Then you have the option later on if need be. Anyway thinking of you.

JaquelineHyde · 09/11/2012 14:23

aufaniae I am just going to wait to see the midwife next week. My midwife said that she would prefer that I left it for two weeks but because she could see I was worrying she offered me a one week appointment.

Missmuffet28 · 09/11/2012 15:16

Hey all,

Jaqueline I hope all will be fine I'm sure it is, took my midwife a loooong time to find mine to be honest I'd have given up waaay before her,

I can't believe people are having their 20wk scans already and knowing if pink or blue!! I'm really very jealous in the nicest most pleased sort of way! I only have 2 wks today till mine!

On the weeing thing I'm pleased to report I can now make it through the night without getting up to wee but if I'm woken during the night I gotta go and I'm busting when I do wake in the morning! :)

Craving curry stuff this week I had curry pot noodle Monday, tues made chicken curry, Wednesday had my sausage and chips with curry sauce and last night had a microwave chicken curry lol and iv discovered Heinz sandwich spread it ticks all the boxes for me savoury but sweet and tangy at the same time between hunks of bread or in a cheese topped sub roll!! Nom nom I wonder how long this will be my favourite hehe!

Have a great weekend everyone really looking forward to hearing about all the scans again :)

Missmuffet I'm same as you, have my scan on Friday 23rd! sooooo excited.

I just wish it would get moving though, I was certain I felt it a few weeks ago & now nothing. Silly lazy Mr baby!

Am having a pizza express pizza tonight, they are on sale at sainsburys so am quite looking forward to it.

Hey ladies, I got back from California yesterday and the temperature change has been a bit of a shock to the system. I've spent a very lazy day on the sofa catching up on my favourite TV shows and mumsnet, lovely.

Mama I'm so sorry for everything you've had to go through. As others have said it's best to focus on your growing baby boy and DP can keep his distance until he shapes up. I hope he sees sense soon but if not you're an incredibly strong woman and you'll get through it just fine.

jaqueline, sorry to hear you're having a worrying time. I've heard it's common not to hear the heartbeat at this stage, likely that your little one was just hiding.

Congraluations bona and bunny* on your scans, so thrilled for you!
The 20 week scan can't come quickly enough. I have mine on the 29th November, I think I saw someone else has that date, Kellestar?

I haven't felt any movement yet, anyone else still waiting to feel movement? This is DC1 and I'm 17+2 today, my midwife said at my 16 week scan that I might not feel movement for a few more weeks but I'd love to have reassurance that everything is ok.

Happy Friday everyone!

Giddypants · 09/11/2012 16:40

Hello everyone, just a quick question is it possible to get braxton-hicks at this stage, I've felt my bump go quite hard a few times now and it's usually followed by a a lot of wriggling and kicking, it's not painful, but I thought BH came a lot later, anyone else getting this?

19+6

wishfulthinking1 · 09/11/2012 17:28

giddy - I've experience the same thing- the bump just going suddenly very hard. I assumed it was just the baby moving to be right at the front so it just felt hard- I never though of it as contractions! Atleast it's happening to both of us, so am sure it's nothing to worry about,
X

steph2412 · 09/11/2012 17:46

Giddy and wishful ive been getting a hard bump to only be concerned if ur getting pain etc aswell. with my 1st pg i was taken into hosp at 20weeks as had been feeling unwell all day and hard hard tummy for couple of hours so midwife was concerned. turned out when i got there all was fine i had just been overdoing it!20 week scan on 27th cant wait 17+3

Trishstar · 09/11/2012 17:59

Steph we have the same due date I believe!

steph2412 · 09/11/2012 18:18

Yes trish and our 20week scans on the same day how lovely!x

Bambino29 · 09/11/2012 18:25

Ooh all this 20 week scan chat is exciting! Congrats to everyone who's had a good one so far. Mine's on 1st December - literally counting the days!

Had pretty intense abdominal pain on and off all day today so had emergency docs appointment who couldn't find anything 'alarming'. Really sore and tender on my left side. Anyone else had anything like this? Felt a lot like I'd been kicked in the stomach (and not by my baby!).

Jaqueline - sure everything will be fine. Took mw ages and ages to find mine - another midwife had to come and help her!
