Just popping in quickly, mainly to say good luck to Bonadea for both 20 week scan tomorrow and cardiac scan on FRI. Let us know they go, will you be finding out the sex?

Faithy interested to know where you are, will PM you when I get a spare moment.

Feeling a bit sad here tonight, one of my lovely friends has just had a Miscarriage at 6/52. Surprised how sad I feel about this for her, my first pregnancy ended in ectopic so maybe its just bringing memories of that back a bit.

At work tonight, sigh! been at work since 08.30, roll on 11pm!

Good luck to bona for tomorrow, can't wait to hear about everyone's scan stories!

Can't help with the indigestion sorry but seem to have the crippling tiredness return here! Can't stop yawning all day in work and Dh is lucky if he sees me afta 9.30 this wk, jst can't keep my eyes open. Seem to wake myself up comin upto bed though and can't resist a quick catch up on MN before dozing off again Wink

usernamegoeshere · 07/11/2012 22:51

oooh good luck Bona I can't believe the 20 week scans are starting already, how exciting!

I'm definitely finding out re pink/blue but since oh/dp/whatever is called, lives away I'm going to take a paper & envelope & ask for it to be written down to open together if I don't sneakily rip open at first chance

I have heartburn... going to get some gaviscon tomorrow, seems too early for these awful symptoms, if I have them now how am I going to feel in 4 months time?

17+5

aufaniae · 07/11/2012 23:15

Is anyone else getting heartburn already?

I got it last time, but not till 30 something-weeks!

I'm getting a horrid feeling in my throat followed by a weird feeling in my forehead! Does anyone else recognise that?

I'm finding this pregnancy much harder than the last one. I'm tired all the time, got SPD already. If I stand for any length of time my hips are in trouble - went to fireworks night, and then had to write off Tuesday completely (was meant to go into town to post an important letter, just couldn't do it as it involved walking!) I'm on the waiting list for physio but no idea how long I'll need to wait.

Sorry for the winge! Just feeling a bit old and past it right now!

aufaniae · 07/11/2012 23:17

Oh username, I see you have heartburn already too. It's early isn't it? Is this your first pregnancy?

Do you get the funny feeling in your head when you're feeling the heartburn too?

Not much fun is it?!

usernamegoeshere · 07/11/2012 23:29

nah Aufanie I haven't had the thing in my forehead, but in honesty now you have given me the idea I'll probably have it within a week (I seem determined to cross off absolutely every symptom I have ever heard of all in one pregnancy).

& yup its my first!

aufaniae · 07/11/2012 23:34

Oooh, sorry username forget I said that! Nothing to see here, move along now ... Wink

I can't bear to go on the gaviscon just yet. Drank litres of the stuff last pregnancy! DP has just made me a chamomile tea, will see if that does anything for the heartburn. (Will probably send me to sleep!)

I drank peppermint tea last time as I was used to drinking that for stomach problems, Took me a little while to work out it was actually making it worse.

username don't read this next bit now! ...

That weird feeling just spread to my ears. It's a wave. It starts with heartburn in my throat, then a weird feeling in my forehead, and now my ears. I don't like it!

Trishstar · 08/11/2012 00:06

20 week scan on the 27th! Can't wait! Me and OH are going to find out but can't decide if we should keep the news to just ourselves and few family members? Opinions?

xxxxx

MumofWombat · 08/11/2012 01:18

When I was pregnant with DS, I got heartburn from 10 weeks. Everyone said that was early. This time it was from about 6 weeks. I've been prescribed ranitidine, which has helped. And I avoid certain foods (orange juice is the worst offender) as just looking at them seems to bring on heartburn! I also sleep with lots of pillows to keep me a bit upright. Before I got the tablets, some nights I had to sleep on a reclining chair to keep me upright!

I also have the crippling tiredness. I have no energy what so ever (just thinking about heading into summer and all the days of plus 30 odd degrees isn't helping). My DH is being incredible with cleaning the house on his days off, and doing dinner (I get to 5pm and seem to particularly flake out), I'm very lucky he's so understanding.

I really really want one of those pregnancies where the mum to be glows, looks lovely with a neat bump, has energy and non of the crappy symptoms. Didn't happen last time, doesn't look like its going to be the case this time. Envy

Cadmum · 08/11/2012 02:39

No heartburn or hip pain here but the 30+ temperatures daily are dragging me down. It is too hot in the tropics for pregnancy. I cannot imagine life without AC. I sure hope to have moved by the third trimester...

bunnygirl80 · 08/11/2012 02:46

growyourown hope they sort your bladder out soon.

Had my 18week obstetrician appointment yesterday, and when she scanned me to check baby's growth we got a reasonable view of the sex. We're 80% certain it's a girl, although am waiting till my proper 19week scan tomorrow for official confirmation!

growyourown77 · 08/11/2012 10:28

Thanks bunnygirl. And oooh, the first (unofficial) outing of the gender. Congrats!

JaquelineHyde · 08/11/2012 10:58

Morning everyone just back from my midwifes appointment and she couldn't find a heartbeat Sad

She tried and tried and there was just nothing, she did manage to hear the placenta working away really well but nothing from the baby.

I've got to go back next week to try again and if still no joy then I will need to go in for an emergency scan.

So fed up it's ridiculous Sad

JaquelineHyde · 08/11/2012 10:58

Oh and I'm 17 weeks today

birdbrain17 · 08/11/2012 10:59

likecandy I'm not getting indigestion but a lot of bloating and can't stop hiccuping Blush I feel like such a kid getting hiccups when I eat!

Bondea can't wait to hear how your scan was good luck

heartburn for those people suffering and are fed up of gaviscon or slimy renee try 'tums' they are really really good and taste yum! I think you can get them in any pharmacy and I've seen them in sainsburys as well

mama I saw your post a few days ago, just keep forgetting to reply. I have a really bad case of pregnancy memory loss! Just wanted to tell you I really feel for you and you are not being unreasonable at all! Don't let anyone guilt trip you into doing things you don't want but at the same time please please remember that hormones are really unpredictable so don't make any rash decisions you may regret later no matter how much of a cow it sounds your partner is acting like.

Hope everyone is feeling well today, it's only one more day till the weekend so lets keep going Wink

18+4 (I think, but I just had a brain block if I'm 18 or 19!!!)

usernamegoeshere · 08/11/2012 11:13

aww Jaqueline my midwife was warning me for ages before we did it that it might be the case, some just hide away. Mine did say though that if we couldn't then I should just pop to the EPU drop in & say I was worried & they would scan me. I know its different areas, but if you have an EPU where you live I'm sure they would be happy to put your mind at ease.

trying2bpos · 08/11/2012 11:23

yay congrats bunny

grow don't forget mama's baby boy re the gender outing. I don't know much about bladders but could it be stones? Not sure if they would've picked that up on the scans though. Hope you feel better and get it sorted soon. Thanks

Good luck Bonadea very exciting.

re:indigestion perhaps there's some hairy babies amongst us! Probably too early to be that even if it were true! MW gave me something called Asilone (I think) last time that wasn't too bad but did cause a bit of constipation so eat plenty of fruit with your antacids.

giddy we're scan date buddies, how you feeling? I'm a mix of terrified, excited and impatient!

My headache seems to have come back with a vengeance but since DS up every hour (teething we think) this might also explain it.

trying2bpos · 08/11/2012 11:25

jaqueline meant to say the MW struggled to find my babies hb at 16 w appt and since placenta could be heard really well for you it could just be the positioning of the placenta. Try not to worry, are you feeling any movements yet? Again those can be later if your placentas at the front (I think) can't remember what they call that!

Giddypants · 08/11/2012 12:18

trying I'm terrified, really not excited, I'm coping with the fingers in ears lalala method at the mo, to be honest I don't like going for scans, I think it stems back to my first pregnancy where the found a mmc at 14 weeks I was devastated. So I alway think that they are going to find something wrong.
I'm not going to find out the sex I really want a surprise, however DFIL has terminal cancer, we don't know how long he has left, and I'm in two minds whether to find out for him incase the worse happens before the baby arrives, I have a few more scans to come so can find out at a later date.

indegestion oh yes the acid is sometimes overwhelming especially at bed time I have just bought some rene fruit calcium tablets, but I may ask if I can have some omeprazole for later on, if I remember correctly last time towards the end was a killer, so uncomfortable.

Just been to sainsbos shopping, and bought the first thing for my hospital bag...... Maternity pads how glamourus!

steph2412 · 08/11/2012 13:13

Jaquline i would try not to worry they have changed the guidelines they dont normally listen for hb until 24 weeks as it can be so hard to find, thinking of you.
A question for anyone feeling movement do you have days where you dont feel anything?
bondea hope scan goes well

Jo1984uk · 08/11/2012 13:23

Like candy we are scan date buddies :-) im feeling so nervous, I am excited but am getting really paranoid as I did start to feel baby at 16/17 weeks but since then nothing! My friend keeps telling me I'm gona give baby a nervous twitch as I keep prodding my belly!! Anyone else 19 weeks and not feeling a lot?

steph2412 · 08/11/2012 13:30

Hi jo so glad you posted that i have been feeling little bits if movement 16wk app mw found hb instantly and not been convinced ive felt any movement since. i think though this is dc3 and had a mc in june that i am totally paranoid about everything!ive been so anxious that today ive lay on sofa for hours and just had a couple of kicks!not that noticable only because i was lying down so if id been active i wouldnt have felt baby!just trying to say try not to worry kicks arent that noticable or regular get!roll on 20week scan for another look at baby!xx 17+2

usernamegoeshere · 08/11/2012 13:34

grrrr I just had a letter that said my blood type is O negative & I need anti D injection at 30 weeks. It said no antibodies detected, so I assume this means that when I miscarried years ago they either gave me the injection then or no blood crossed.

Slightly worried as have been spotting throughout pregnancy so far, I think I will call them tomorrow since my letter says they have anti D clinic on Friday afternoons which is perfect since I will be quite close to the hospital anyways.

BonaDea · 08/11/2012 14:40

Morning ladies!

20 weeks scan this morning and all was well. The scan was completely AMAZING - had no idea how detailed it would be and the lovely consultant talked us through everything in great detail. The sonogram even showed up the blood flowing into and out of the heart in two different colours - who knew?! We saw the brain, heart, kidneys, stomach (with amniotic fluid inside), fingers, toes etc.

I still seem to have the wriggliest baby on the planet and the consultant kept saying that he was having to follow a moving target, but personally I see that as a good thing Wink.

Oh, and we didn't find out the sex. It was pretty bloody tempting but I managed to resist somehow!!

itsaruddygame · 08/11/2012 15:27

Bonadea - congrats on the scan -how exciting! Mine is a week tomorrow I wish it would hurry up : )

Jaqueline - if it helps at all to ease your mind apparently the policy where I live is no doppler until 24 weeks because it is common not to find a heart beat and then everyone ends up in a panic. I really hope you do get your reassurance doppler/scan pronto to put your mind at rest though, waiting a week is not ideal!

I can report that at 19 weeks and 1 day I feel vaguely human. Have stayed up past 10.30pm on several occassions and don't feel sick all the time. Hurrah. Hope all experience the same and find some relief from the various discomforts!!
