Wow! Not long up. We didn't leave my dad's dinner party until after 2am!! After DH and my dad had plowed through a bottle of whiskey and started coming up with ridiculous baby names it was time to leave Grin. Lovely evening though!

Cracking day here weather wise. We're off out for breakfast (having the lovely wee deli cafe 2 mins from the house is going to bankrupt us, 3rd time since DH went on leave!!) then going up to Perth for a day. Not sure what to do, hoping I'll get a changing bag out of it as it's the only thing we still need!!

Hope everyone has a great day and those feeling a bit poorly are on the mend soon. Congrats again cat !!

TiAAAAARGHo · 21/10/2012 12:31

Share the names with us MissMummy Grin. My brother has named my baby Bodicea :) which I will not be using.

After a night of stomach ache/Braxton Hicks, I appear to be having a bloody show this morning (diagnosed with the aid of Google and reassuring noises from the hospital when I called). So hopefully something will happen soon.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 12:32

blonder deffo blood sugar. Make sure you have your testing kit next to you and a little something to nibble on if it happens again. Never hurts to check temp too just to be sure. Hopefully it is because labour is brewing. It would be great if the sweep started things off. Have you been told to pump pre-birth?

This morning I was thinking about the baby and how lovely it will be to feed again, and my right boob leaked! The right one has always been the better dairy cow, but I was really quite pleased!

Been to do a big shop, the last one pre-baby. Nearly ruined myself even with DH pushing the trolley and restraining the kids. On line shopping from herein.

Cooking a roast, with pie for pud. Last proper meal for a while too I think!

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 12:39

Sex dreams here. With Dexter. Not complaining Blush

Dixiebell · 21/10/2012 12:51

Think DS has hand foot and mouth...although spots so far only on hands and feet, and he's fine other than a bit of a cough and runny nose. Think it's ok in pregnancy...I don't have any spots anyway.

blonderthanred · 21/10/2012 13:15

That's exciting Tia... Good luck!

VQ it would be great if the labour did start. It seems like my body is thinking about it. Will definitely think of blood sugar is if shivering happens again, I have glucose gel stuff. I've been trying hand expressing but not the pump yet. I get a tiny bit of waxiness through (think cream cheese squished through a cracker) but can only dream of dairy-cow-style leaking.

MissMummy1 · 21/10/2012 13:41

Tia I can't remember many off the top of my head, I zoned out but Caledonia was a 'definite' for a girl Hmm.....

I think I've narrowed it down to 2 changing bags. Honest opinions please!

Slightly more Dad-proof one

Or this one (which I would probably definitely use with or without a baby!!)

TiAAAAARGHo · 21/10/2012 13:46

Hmm tough one. I would go for the first one personally, but given you will be the main one using it, I'd say go for whichever appeals most to you.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 13:51

blonder that is the colostrum. The milk will come in time, but baby needs the really good stuff first. My boobs are professionals and have not long been out of action which is probably why it leaked.

MM deffo the second one. The first one would not be man proof enough either I think. Let him use the boots free one.

Peaky1 · 21/10/2012 14:47

I like the first one but then I need the edge taken off 'girly' for me. I don't do frills! I agree with VQ though...mine would refuse to carry it! Free Boots bag for him too Wink.

YellowWellies · 21/10/2012 15:04

I'm the same peaky I'm not too into frills and think the second one is a bit uber girly for my tastes. I like the first one very much and the colour is more forgiving. But give him the boots one and make sure you have the nice one!

DH's sister is posting up her Cath Kidston oilcloth - am v excited as wouldn't have justified buying one. DH is relieved to have been consigned to the boots one!

Sounds like lots of folks are getting signs of labour - am a bit lot envious but have decided to think of this baby as due on the 1st December (which is the longest they'll let me go to). M'eh.... am not Envy at all.

blonderthanred · 21/10/2012 15:25

I love the first one with the Cherry Blossom. Beautiful. I am on the Boots free one, if it's not enough I can always ask Father Christmas for another!

ShellyBobbs · 21/10/2012 15:27

I WILL NOT miss this damned back ache. I can't believe that there is any room left in there.

It's all gone quiet on the Horsey front, I worry when I don't hear off people everyday now :)

YellowWellies · 21/10/2012 15:47

DH is making roast duck for tea - wooo hoo I can't wait!!!!

My achievements for the day are minimal to switch our Love Film package to instant - given we'll have a more limited (ahem that's a polite way of putting it) social life and won't be able to guarantee catching programmes we want to watch. Series 3 of the Killing (the good Danish version not the shit US one) starts two days after my due date - and if that's not a tempting target for Junior to aim for I don't know what is.

Also started a Christmas box of snacks and goodies by getting a few bits when we went to the supermarket. Am really looking forward to the thought of a quiet first family Christmas. We've decided to go very easy on pressies to each other (poor Junior is getting some nappies!!!!) but really spoil ourselves with food. Have just had the brain wave of getting a carrier bag of lobster and scallops from the Fisherman's co-op - a bargain for £20! I want Baileys too. And squidgy cheese. And a nice joint of pork or venison.... Don't want turkey and as it's just us - we can break with tradition.

Wooo yes Horsey has been quiet? I wonderrrrrr....... ?

WaitingForMe · 21/10/2012 15:55

Has anyone else seen the NCT DVD 'Mum's the Word'? The woman they follow the story of only looked about 7 months pregnant when she went into labour! I'm officially a whale. Just started getting some stretch marks under the bump which I'm a little bothered by but I got two on my right boob that disappeared when I put on loads of bio oil (so not real stretch marks, just threats?) so I'm coating myself.

I love the name River Catbag. Dr Who fan by any chance? Congratulations on her and her brother.

I just had a lovely chat with my stepsons. I explained that if they run around shouting they'll wake the baby up but that they will also be his favourite people because he'll recognise their voices. Yesterday there was a gorgeous photo of a 15 minute old baby sticking his tongue out in response to his dad doing it to him and they are very enthusiastic about pulling faces at him Grin

DSS1 can be a bit of a worrier but I think I reassured him that his time with his dad (he spends 30 minutes after DSS2 goes to bed for 1-2-1) will continue and we discussed different places it can take place depending on music they listen to etc; Far more than with DSS2 I've encouraged him to share his views about how we will do things as a family. He did voice a concern that DSS2 is "a bit of a loony" and could cause problems! DSS2 just ran around going "Raaaaaaaar" while we had that chat!

There is no chance I'll be getting PFB about quiet and calm around the baby. So weird being a first time mum but already having kids sometimes.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 15:56

YW she has been quiet. Well spotted. Grin

YellowWellies · 21/10/2012 16:03

Shelly's the observant one - not me!

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 16:07

And clearly I am not! In more ways than one Blush

StuntNun · 21/10/2012 16:19

I saw a Paternity bag in Toys'r'Us (in RL not online so I can't link to it) which looked quite smart and would go with the pushchair... I'm going to stick with the Boots one for now. I had a mahoosive baby bag that DMIL got for me in M&S when I had DS2 and it had so many pockets and compartments that it weighed a ton before you put anything in it. I ended up just keeping a small packet of wipes and a couple of nappies folded up in a travel change mat. Any other things (change of clothes, toys) got slung under the pushchair.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 16:32

I must admit at the moment I just sling a pack of wipes, a plastic bag and a clean nappy and pj bottoms in my bag when I go out. The pjs roll up small and is better than being in wet clothes if there was a leak, and better than having to buy new clothes too. I am getting a little life ruck sack for her so she can carry her own kit Grin

WaitingForMe · 21/10/2012 16:57

I got a change bag because it fits nicely over the pram handle and there isn't much space underneath for stowing stuff but agree with VQ that you don't need much stuff.

The awkward time for us was when DSS2 was being potty trained. We had the portable potty, spare clothes etc just around the time we were using the buggy less.

horseylady · 21/10/2012 17:59

I'm here!! Been reading quickly in free seconds, just been working flat out (literally!!) and have practically killed myself in the process! However, mother and I are shopping tomorrow for bras (me) and boots (her)!! I am then doing nothing!! Well apart from dog walking.

I've twice freaked out that the baby is going to die while in labour and that I too am going to die. I do not normally have thoughts like this!! Ive not told dh as he'll not be happy with such thinking!

Anyway I have pretty much done all I've said I'll do for people. The baby can now officially arrive!!

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2012 18:02

Hi horsey good to see you are taking it easy Grin. We all have fears about dying or baby dying. That is natural, but hopefully fleeting. Sadly it does happen, and reading the threads on here often do not help with such thoughts. It is however rare. Besides, you are such a fit person you are clearly gonna live forever!

daisychain76 · 21/10/2012 18:09

Waiting there is a good book called the social baby which shows how much newborns imitate and interact from birth ~ like the tongue sticking out you mentioned. Your DSSs sound lovely!

I have the freebie Boots bag at the moment but DH is getting me a huge Gorjuss bag for Christmas, not designed for cchanging bag but really nice and l love that brand.

StuntNun · 21/10/2012 18:20

Horsey if it's any consolation I have an appointment with the solicitor one week before my due date to make my will!

I have had a rubbish unproductive day today. I've felt wiped out all day and ended up back in bed for two and a half hours - not really sleeping, just too exhausted to do anything. I wanted to get some needlepoint done today and that's not exactly tiring.

DH's loft excavations have failed to locate any cot bedding or the baby towels. Hopefully he'll be a small baby that can stay in the Moses basket for ages.
