Aww Tramp sorry to hear about the jug, I would have been upset too, these things are precious. And I do remember Charlie's cat! Our younger cat loves the taps and is obsessed with running water - they are so strange.

Zoey sorry also to hear you are in so much pain, I hope your manager can sort you out.

Resting up as ordered, have turned work email off my phone and am trying to chill. Hopefully I can get back in tomorrow.

GummiberryJuice · 01/11/2012 11:56

Had to post early as my cursor wouldn't go to end of sentence,

Anyway it wasn't just a milk jug to you and I'm glad your dh at least recognises that it was special albeit a little too late.

Chefette · 01/11/2012 12:14

Boo to jug-gate!!!!!!!! That scenario could be replicated in our house!!!!

The mat B1 needs to be a copy you keep the original, it's a sort of A5 size, if its got to go to more places than just your own work then scan it and email it or print and send, my work only took photocopy.

Sickness over, have managed melon, and toast. Catching up on Internet stuff, and trying to negotiate a price on a buggy with an eBay seller who never got a bid !!!!!! Fingers crossed for a bargain girls!!!

Sorry for poorly girls, and cool scan news is great to hear. My bump is slumping away it's incredible!! 23 weeks today, am still desperate to know sex, but DP is holding firm worse luck, and wouldn't GI behind his back Sad

OoooOoooOoood · 01/11/2012 12:17

Arrrrggggghhhh 13 year olds !!!!!!

That's all!

theTramp · 01/11/2012 12:29

DJ - that was I. Pop it over the top of everything once you have stacked it with clothes. It creates a sort of heated tent. All then dries much faster.

Thank you for understanding on jug. I feel somewhat unreasonable in my ire and yet also seriously miffed. It's really just that it wasn't that it was a "thing" it was something that reminded me of Nan that was there everyday. Ah well.

Chefette · 01/11/2012 12:42

Sorry "flumping" away, it's me that's slumped GrinGrinGrinGrin

DJH80 · 01/11/2012 13:06

Thanks Tramp. I've got it loaded up and now just watching it dry!

dameflamingo · 01/11/2012 13:23

Hello all, its been weeks I think. Sorry!

Sending everyone lots of happiness and apologies in advance for not name checking everyone.

Ethel - Boo for GTT - I've just been told I have to have one too - and I had thought I'd dodged it... Hooray though on you joining team blue - your secret is safe with us!
Gummi - toffee apples yummy - I'm too late but I'm still having these for dinner this evening ( after a balanced meal of course hee hee)
Em - love the maternity leave countdown - will get my calender back and tell you mine... it'll be 23 days for you now??
Tramp - you have my sympathies re: maternity leave when working for yourself. can you claim statutory maternity pay as a self employed person?
Stealth - I'm late but wanted to say rotten luck re: amnio sending a big hug
Jojo- hows the dissertation proposal going?
sundae - proper kicks? whoop whoop? mine are getting stronger at times too - I LOVE IT!
Lanny - not long til that extension is done and it will all be a distant memory ( fingers crossed) think of the amazing times you're going to have using it.
BBface and Kirsty - lovely to hear from you both. BBface i went to mothercare recently for new bras and they were pretty good at offering advice on 'futureproofing'

Sorry to those I haven't mentioned - I promise to do better!

I have just had a few very busy days in parliament and could do with some time off. Roll on Saturday. babyflamingo is doing very well too growing nicely and I'm getting allof teh niggles that many of ou report - which I'm taking as a good sign on good days and being a complete baby about when the hormones are up.... to give an idea I cried at THE SIMPSONS MOVIE the other day... when marge leaves homer...go figure. Anyone else having mad hormonal cries for absolutely silly reasons?

MrsRigby · 01/11/2012 14:11

lannyshrops, bbface, kirsty80 and suburban message received loud and clear.

I will not be posting on Mumsnet ever again.

Goodbye.

zoeymlucas · 01/11/2012 14:30

Dame I am a hormonal mess and have cried at the Simpsons - it was the one Santas little helper ran away from home and in my defence our dog ran away about a week before and never returned!

Hope the 13 year old are not stressing you out too much now Oood

I have an old fashioned sweet party tonight and am very excited about it and ordering lots of yummy things including fruit salad chews - how hard core am I!

theTramp · 01/11/2012 14:30

Oh dear. Well look after yourself MrsR, hope you find a way to get to the bottom of your problems and to be happier about life.

mandasand · 01/11/2012 14:45

Well, not the most productive of mornings in terms of work. Did an hour of painting instead! But now stuck in trying to Get Stuff Done so I have something to natter to boss about later?

Pink thanks for folding Nipper advice! Jealous of your Ikea trip. Looking forward to fitting one in soon?hmmm, wonder if MiL would like to drive us when she visits at the weekend?!

October YES! Bouncers essential I hear for keeping head above water with twins! My friend with twins is going to send me her recommendations, but said something about it being worth paying more (£40ish?) than the cheaper end. I guess you'd agree? The Bjorn looks great! Thanks Smile

Lexi you'll get the building work. It won't be easy all the time, but it will be FAB to get it done before baba arrives!

Hello Zoey grumpy pants Hope you're feeling alright as the day progresses. Think it's tops idea to meet with boss. Would working from home a bit help / be possible? Fruit salad chews! Be careful of any fillings, hehe!

Tramp I've been sleeping with cushion between legs too - but it always disappears by morning! Still, I think it helps. I feel your pain re jug. Sincerely. DH sounds similar, and I'm really into my mugs and jugs and plates and other ceramics, some of which I've made / had commissioned / have sentimental value. Have you tried looking on eBay? Often excellent for odd bits of crockery to replace breakages, fill a set. I know it won't be the same because it's not your Nan's, but ?

DJH sounds wonderful! Hints and tips please!

Chef did you win the buggy?!

Dame you need a rest! Yes, oh yes, to preggo hormones! BUT less so in the last couple of weeks, I admit?(previous to which I'd cry five times a day, at least!) I must be getting better with them as DH as resumed taking the piss out of me now and again, whereas a couple of weeks ago I just couldn't take it!

MrsR, yes, I honestly think you would do much better to seek help and advice with your problems from RL sources than an online forum.

zoeymlucas · 01/11/2012 14:58

OMG in shock I finally just rang the doctors about my mole/ stitches infection and they have actually managed to get me an appointment for today at 5.20 - normally you have to plan being ill a week in advance Grin

suburban · 01/11/2012 15:01

MrsR it really wasn't my I tension to upset you. Was more of a feeling that I hadn't realised how unhappy you were. There is lots of good advice on Mumsnet, especially in relationships... Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Manda we are in a 1930's semi too and buggies in the hall is one of the bains of my life. At the moment we keep one folded under the stairs and one at the back in the utility room. I think a double will prob have to go in the garage unless it has a really easy fold.

Stealth happy it went as ok as could be, fingers crossed for the results.

JoJo completely anecdotal, but when I did my degree the people who left their dissertations til the last minute, got the best results. Good luck with it anyway.

Need to be quick now as DD has just woken up.

Bouncers def one of our most used pieces of kit. Bumbo was not so great.

Also does anyone know how men go about applying for paternity allowance. Had thought I wouldn't need a Mat B 1 because am SAHM, but obviously not. Was abroad when I had Dd so didn't have to do it all last time.

OoooOoooOoood · 01/11/2012 15:17

Just seen another thread about mat b 1 and blokes don't need it but lots of employers ask anyway. Something on direct gov. Has to be applied for at same time as maternity leave so 25 weeks.

Re bouncy chairs- I've always had basic ones and not seen the point in the fancy ones. I just clip on toys these were the best used bit of kit until about 1! Pound shop usually has them.

mandasand · 01/11/2012 15:23

Zoey that is GREAT news! Hope you get something for it.

Suburban, oh what I'd give for a utility room! One day ? one day ? I'd like an extension from the dining room into the garden, to serve as a relaxing and play room. At the mo the lounge and the dining room are fairly grown up and not much space, so I think it would be great to have a distinct space with a sofa that can get mucky from the garden and full of toys. Also would be nice as is more relaxing for DH and babies there, when I'm cooking, say, than sat at the big dining table. So, THAT is where we can put the buggy! Oh, but by the time we've saved up for it?

theTramp · 01/11/2012 15:23

Sub - there's lots of info on claiming maternity and paternity pay on MNet. See also a quick google search and look at present UK regulations from Government. Quite easy to understand I thought. See main link and paternity link on right of this page...
www.gov.uk/maternity-leave/overview

Mand - I won't replace it. It just wouldn't be the same. But I'll but a new jug. One that will cope with microwave and dishwasher and sigh alot when using it.. :)

Zoey - crikey, result! I think you need tea & cake afterwards just to help deal with the shock of getting an appointment so quickly :)

I'm not at all excited about tomorrow's scan. At 12 weeks I just wanted to know if Socs was actually happening or not. After all the bleeding and other scares the big question was very much - is Socs actually going to make it to 12 weeks. Now it is 20 weeks I feel weirdly detached. Possibly because I haven't been focusing on what could go wrong - rather on all that could be right, and now the scan is here (so to speak) the what could go wrong is washing in a little. No reason to think all won't be wonderful of course. But I feel a little guilty about not being more excited.

mandasand · 01/11/2012 16:40

For newbies and oldies alike, just a reminder that lots of people active on here also post in a secret Facebook group (secret only because it dates from the time many of us were keeping our pregnancies secret!) It's a nice place to share especially pics of scans, bumps, knitting and crafty projects Smile

As it's off radar, you need to be FB friends with someone already in the group (I don't know why!) then they can invite you to join. Everyone in the group has adding-new-peeps privileges so you can try someone you might like to be FB friends with or I'm happy to add peeps.

suburban · 01/11/2012 16:59

Thanks Tramp must look into it properly don't want to miss any deadlines.

manda we have exactly as you describe, little playroom with tv, filthy sofa etc off the back of the dining room which now has an archway into the kitchen. Means I can hide from DD in the kitchen and we can keep the front room adults only. Were lucky to buy the house ready extended would never have been able to afford to do it ourselves. Of course with all that also came a badly plumbed in bathroom upstairs so perfect playroom is currently sporting a massive hole in the ceiling.

tramp I feel the same about my scan. Keep forgetting the dateline it, was convinced it was Monday, is actually a week later.best of luck for it anyway, will you find out the sex?

dameflamingo · 01/11/2012 17:30

tramp and sub I think that the 20 week scan being called the 'anomoly scan' does seep into the subconcious a bit. I can tell you from experience that mine was fefinately soemthing I looked forward to a lot less that the 12 week one for lots of reasons. I think the possibility of issues and complications had certainly hit me more and also I was not as sick/ trying to catch up and overtake myself at work blah blah. However the overall experience was positive. One thing I wish I'd been told or at least paid attention to though was that the 20 week scan is fairly long and detailed - I ended up going twice as baby flamingo wouldn't stay still/play ball. I have to admit I got a bit bored and a bit sore towards the end of the first session - needing a wee and lots of pressing /joggling with the scanner thingie - which left less of a glowing feeling than the quick, 'magic' pic of the 12 week one.

Everyone is different and we'd be exhausted if we walked around in a heightened state of euphoria swinging to dismay all the time.
whoo that was a long diatribe!

manda i'd love a little extension too - one more room downstairs and a wider hall would be absolutely ideal and I can see why with twins you'll be hankering after more space. Did you decide to go for a particular buggy yet? sorry if I missed this upstream - Phil and teds and bugaboo come to my recollection...

dameflamingo · 01/11/2012 17:38

OH God! just got home to discover entire kitchen and living room filled with bits of antique wardrobes that I impulse purchased on a trip to northumberland when i was a few weeks pregnant and crazy crazy crazy... the nice man must have eventually headed south with a van load.. I guess I'll have to own up tp MrFlamingo since he's clearly seen them and the evidence is...well, everywhere. They are literally planks of pitch pine in places and need to be shifted three floors and put together.... GAAAAAH what have I done!!Smile they were an absolute bargain though. mid 1800's victorian made to measure for about a quarter of the actual value.Blush

LexiandBeanette · 01/11/2012 17:42

Tramp I think it's natural to feel a bit anxious and 'detached' - I certainly did and was a bit worried and unsure about the 20 week scan. Once I knew all was fine with Beanette I actually enjoyed seeing her wriggling away and I feel much less abstract about the baby now.
Dame I'm amused by your purchase - I bought new sidetables for our bedroom in solid wood to replace the rather grotty, stained IKEA ones I've had since I was a student - they won't be delivered for a few weeks so I will need to have similar confession once they get here ;-)
Changed user name as I don't feel I am 'in disguise' any more - Beanette is rather obvious and I most definitely look pregnant!
Right, off to chase DH and make sure he has some supper before he carries on working. And try to avoid checking work emails.

dameflamingo · 01/11/2012 17:55

lexiandbeanette very lovely name!!
I hope MrFlamingo will be as amused when I ask him to just carry them upstairs and fit them together ; - )

Chefette · 01/11/2012 18:00

Got it!!! £175!! (I have only seen one from a distance, never pushed one, oh crikey hope have done the right thing!! And hope it's a bargain looks in very good nick, just need the maxi cosi car seat now.......but that we will be buying new.

Black and yellow Quinny Buzz 3 in excellent condition.
Comes with carrycot, pushchair, two seat covers, footmuff ,changing bag, shopping basket, two raincovers, pump for the wheels and adaptors for a maxi cosi car seat
. Pics will post on FB later.

Ladies I posted about how much I bricked it for my 20 wk scan, didn't enjoy it as was so worried and stressed about the anomaly aspect, (it was such a long gap from previous scan, and I had zero preggie symptoms) trying not to cry and prepared to hear the worst, almost surprised to be told all was "normal" as far as could be assured at that stage. So I feel for ya!

Would love now to go have another scan to take it all in properly and get to know the sex as DP still won't let me!!!!!!

Good luck and virtual handholding luv x

Chefette · 01/11/2012 18:01

Oh and hilarious dame!!!!!!! Show us photies when you've got em built!!!
