stealth plenty of rest for you m'dear! Positive thinking can work wonders so surround yourself with exciting things for a few days :)
chefette great news re bump movements, I've not seen mine move yet but i definitely feel him from the outside sometimes! I'm hoping he behaves this well when OH comes over next week. Would be nice for him to be able to feel something :)

My first eBay purchase of 3 arrived this morning... a Grobag 0-6months. It's adorable, cream colour with a velvety Owl with a teddy on the front. Still waiting on another grobag (pumpkin patch version) with trees and leaves and birds on it and a Thumper snowsuit :D Think I'm taking this woodland stuff a step too far now!!

Sheldonella · 31/10/2012 19:35

JoJo I'm planning to get this thought you might like it too!

Evening everyone. Just thought I would catch up before I get back to my knitting. I hope it isn't too perilous tonight Grin

I was supposed to finally sort out my maternity leave today too but everyone was too busy. I WILL do it tomorrow.

Stealth I'm glad you have got the amnio over. Make sure you get plenty of rest now.

Thanks for the phil & teds info pink. It was the navigator I was interested in and I mostly want it for the big wheels and muddy fields. I will make sure I get a proper look at it and bear in mind what you have said.

ood Yay for scan. What cars did you look at? We are thinking about cars now too.

Lexi Glad to see you back and feeling better! The building work sounds like a bit of a nightmare though. Are you going to take the builder's word for it on the dates? Exciting to get stuff done though - we replaced our bathroom earlier this year and it is soooo much nicer now. Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

JoJo Yay for not being infected. zoey I hope you aren't either!

Vivee congrats for your little boy and happy scan.

Em I agree with not discussing names with your friend. Much easier to avoid any disagreements then. I'm desperately trying not to reveal our choices in real life and one of my best friends is due 5 weeks after me. I don't think she will choose the same thing but I also don't want people to say they don't like my name.

manda Sorry you are uncomfortable with the bump. Is there any way to lower your monitors?

chef Good to see you are back and happy but sorry about your sickness. Your cottage sounds lovely.

Hi everyone else, hope you are all enjoying your evenings [hsmile] Brew

sheldon I asked my dad to buy it for the baby last week as its out of my budget and even the second hand ones are selling for almost full price once you factor in postage!! I love it!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 31/10/2012 20:10

Hi all and mega welcome back to all the ladies who've been away for a bit!
Just catching up on 'the thick of it' do any of you watch it? We are late to the party, but really love it!

We won't be doing anything nursery-wise until after Christmas, just cos we've got dd's birthday and Christmas all looming large on the horizon so need to get those out the way first. Like Jojo we will stick with neutral in any case, just in case the sonographer got it wrong!

Jojo glad the doc sorted you out.
stealth fingers crossed and feet up lady!

We have Phil and teds sport I think it is. Got it second hand off eBay. Is great out and about but very big and heavy so not great on public transport. Use it lots when we go off for the day and will no doubt take it to center parcs when we go in a couple of weeks time.

zoeymlucas · 31/10/2012 20:53

Trick or treating all done and boys all tucked up in bed-DS2 loved it and made a noise to the tune of treat and treat when he clicked people gave him sweets! When we got home he robbed DS1 and my brother which was funny to watch as he was very stealth like about it which at the age of one was funny!! I am now being a good mummy eating some of there sweets to prevent them having to many and getting bad teeth- how selfless am I [hwink]

Thanks lanny and if it cheers you up I have sore tongue from 3 lollies, lol!!!!

I have iCandy peach blossom for baby and DS2 which is still in box all ready but I love it and can't wait- if anyone is getting a maxi cosi car seat I have found an amazing website that makes custom hoods and pads which are amazing :)

Thought I was having baby earlier as was in agony and pain was so bad- turns out I had wind, ooops!!!!!

Glad you went to doctors Jojo and got yourself all sorted think I am going to have to follow your lead and get fixed up this week!

Lexiindisguise · 31/10/2012 21:11

sheldon I'm still a bit wary, but DH is on the case - I think builder now knows the work won't go ahead if he is any later! We are trying to get a contract with him now. Hopefully all work will be done in time for us to sort the nursery! :-/

theTramp · 31/10/2012 21:18

So I thought I'd lie down for a moment... MrMs just woken me up. Oops. So sleepy. Thankfully he's gone to shop to get dinner because apart from tomatoes, custard & rhubarb crumble the cupboard is bare. Clearly not my usual self at all today. One cats in seventh heaven - little nook created by my being curled up, just next to bumP is her fave snuggle spot. Other cat is STARVING!!! This she's made known in a series of short, shrill meowalogues. What have I been thinking falling asleep?! Etc etc.

Blimey woodland theme orama JoJo. V cute baby haul off of eBay by sounds and loving all the pics etc on FB. You're all clearly good knitters, sewers & crocheters.

Treat or treat - so cute! And as Mum of course it's your duty to save their teeth by eating some of the bounty. :)

Lanny - hello!

You're all v welcome to giggle at image of me shuffling about. I do. Not today obviously, today I've apparently had sense of humour bypass in favour of extreme grouchiness, but by tomorrow I'll be giggling.

Ceilings need raising as well as loft extension.. Well in for a penny etc. Sounds promising, glad builder did call you back and admit difficulties. V frustrating when you know someone's holding back the truth from you in some way. Particularly when you're paying them for a service.

Pram etc talk all v interesting. I'm def going for Vista upbaby and have just learnt it has attachment if you have second baby - baby/toddler. It's also compatible with maxi cosi car seat, so good to know re: attachments etc. We really ought to store all this info somewhere where we can get at it. An online spreadsheet maybe..?

Ok cats just not sussed MrM has put food out for her so apparently I need to accompany her upstairs and show her - presumably protect her from MrMs terrifying presence (sigh); old, stuck in ways and v v silly cats.

theTramp · 31/10/2012 21:20

Stealth - glad it went ok today. Rest up and let yourself be looked after. You need it right now. x

KFFOREVER · 31/10/2012 21:22

Im back too after a long break away from the thread. Sorry i just couldnt keep up with the active. I totally thought i would enjoy being pregnant buts it hard work. 21 weeks and still feeling sick and poor appetite. However im very grateful and have sooo much love for my baby.

Really feel sorry for mrsrigby. Although i dont agree with name calling sounds like you need a lot of emotional support about all the things going on and you being so negative. Please see your gp about how you are feeling.

Congrats to those who have had successful scans. Ive had my 20wk scan too but this baby like at 12wk scan was in awkward position so will go back for another scan. WE will be team yellow though. Its our first and want it to be a surprise.

Hamnvik · 31/10/2012 21:54

Hello all! I've been lurking as well until my scan today. Everything was fine, amazing to see how much baby has grown and we are now no longer team yellow we are having a boy!

Will write more tomorrow, its been a long day but hope you are all well!

bbface · 31/10/2012 22:02

hi all,

i have said my piece on MrsR. I very much hope that she returns, as some posters were extremely helpful and sympathetic to her plight. i simply saw it rather differently to the extent that it stopped me coming to this thread for the past 3 months. it is a relief to see that i was not alone, as i thought there was a distinct possibility i would be told in no uncertain terms to bog off. However, you have my word MrsR, that I will make no further comment whatsoever if you do decide to return.

Onwards and upwards....

Picking up conversation re. double buggies, here is my research:

The mountain buggy duet - love everything about it EXCEPT seats are v narrow, so not an option.

baby jogger city mini -not great to push and it's wider than the bugaboo donkey (about an inch i believe).

baby jogger city mini gt - ok, there's a new baby jogger city mini, called the gt. it is awesome! fixes all issues with the city mini, and is a 1/4 inch narrower than the city mini. It's brand new and when it came out of production, it turned out to be narrower than they thought it would be, so on a lot of sites it gives the info provided before it came in stock. so, that's .5 inches wider than the bugaboo and 1lb lighter. seats are a good size too and of course there's the fab fold.

donkey - outrageously expensive, outrageously great. resale is incredibly good, so it can be sold after use for nearly price of new. Narrower than the baby jogger city mini, all terrain so great ride, can do carrycot/car seat and reclining toddler seat, etc. only real down side is crazy price.

phil & teds navigator - it's new. not for me as i do not like the stacked buggies but much cheaper than the bugaboo, width not an issue, fine for when newborn needs to lie flat and toddler only sitting for a rest. although, far from ideal as no shopping space and i don't think the toddler seat reclines much when the newborn is in lie flat.

i am going with the baby jogger city mini gt.

For those of you looking for single buggies, pls avoid the britax. In many respects, it is fabulous. my baby loved it, kept him as snug as a bug, and it is built like a tank, so very sturdy. but but but, it is a pain in the arse to manoeuvre and so flipping heavy.

I would urge you, in fact i would positively plead with you to consider the uppababy vista. number 1 on Which reviews and it is bloody fantastic. If they did a side by side double, i would be snapping it up in the blink of an eye.

Night all
x

JoJoBella84 · 31/10/2012 22:11

I love hearing about other peoples pram choices, mine was a fairly easy one to decide on as I'm a skint student and can't afford anything too fancy. I needed a sturdy pram, suitable from birth, good off road and not heavy, can change from carrycot to car seat etc. I pushed a few around Mothercare/Toys R Us etc but felt the Mothercare My3 was the one for me :) I was all set to pay the full £370 new price but found one second hand with less than 6 months use in a much nicer colour than the ones in the shop for £100. That's me very very happy :) I've also seen a lot of new parents pushing them around and if I ever feel brave enough to ask their reviews I never hear a bad word!!

I've struggled to be motivated with my proposal today, have struggled my way to 1000 words. If I can manage 1000 tomorrow I'll be happy to hand in 2000 words rather than the requested 2500. It's beginning to feel like such a chore now. Although all of today's research has allowed me to find a definite gap in the literature and refine my question a little more so all is not lost!!

OoooOoooOoood · 31/10/2012 22:21

We are sticking with a single. We v rarely use it now so when baby comes dd3 will walk/buggy board. She will walk for ages!

FloweryBoots · 31/10/2012 22:26

Just spent previous HOURS reading pages and pages of missed posts! and I was going to watch strict;y on i player but will now have to fall asleep!

Welcome back to all those who have de lurked again. great to have you back.

Stealth thinking of you. Hope your wait for results isn't too long.

JoJo Well done on 1000 words, half way (ish) there now!

Mrs R if you're around - you've had some good and some tough advice. Hope you can take some on board. My humble opinion would be that you have to take some responsibility to imrove things yourself and accept there are two people involved here, both can be less than perfect, and it's unlikely that fault lies soley with one. Speaking to someone in RL to address why you feel so negative could be a good start.

Well, all morning back at the hospital for me today after DS Kiked me full force with both feet in the bump last night (he'd ended up in our bed, was asleep at the time too so I can't be cross!). Since I'm rehusus neg I had to go in for blood test adn Anti D jab. Still, sat reading my book and being offered toast instead of going to work so not so bad! Grin. And day off tomorrow with Sis and her two boys visiting adn we're all off to see a kids ballet, can't wait. Right, bed time.

Sleep well ladies or as well as proggos can

mandasand · 31/10/2012 22:54

Hellooo! Just a quickie post ? but cor there's a lot to catch up on from lunchtime! Smile

Agh, sorry for those still suffering with colds. Today was first day in 10 that I haven't been blowing my nose constantly. It is heaven!

bbface I am so pleased for you and your happy boobs!

Pink (sorry if I've asked you before) but how easy/hard is the double Nipper to fold? We have a bog standard 1930s semi and our hallway just about supports a couple of pieces of furniture and DH's Brompton+bag. No room for a double buggy even folded, probably! We could come in through the back as easily and leave unfolded by the patio doors, but it would ideally be folded as it's a bit of a beast length-wise and would take up all available room and necessitate moving a big plant which I've nowhere else to put!. Ooh bump belt - I just have some boob-tubes-for-bumps that my SiL gave me - do you mean something more medical / structural?

Zoey that is so cool about your bro and eldest boy - what a great family! Smile Glad to hear you're healing today.

JoJo fab re big dressing. That'll sort you out! Just think re mega-proposal that what you get done and thought through and drafted in good words now you won't have to do later! 2000 words is I think fantastic given you're 3 weeks behind everyone else. Well done - sounds like you're making good progress Smile

Tramp preventative is good for now - keep at it.

Glad you heard back from builder, Lexi. Crikey, my friends just had their ceiling lowered by 6ins for a loft extension. I won't lie to you - it was a big job and they moved out for 6 weeks BUT now say it's absolutely brilliant. I'd go for it. Especially if you have somewhere else you can stay?

bbface you are double-buggy pram expert! thanks!

kkforever hey there and sorry you're yet to reach the glow?soon, I hope, you'll feel much better.

Chefette so ... this one MatB1 form has to go to my work-places (two different univs) and DH's work, in the space of a few weeks. Hum! Aww sorry you've lost your motorbike but sounds v.v. practical. Really pleased cottage is coming along nicely and about hypo/relaxation! As for the throwing up, however - not good!! Get well soon Smile

Hope you're bump's alright after the shock, Flowery - ouch!

Stealth brilliant, and well done, and here's a big cup of hotchoc and do you need another blanket? Rest as much as you can. We're all thinking of you.

Thanks for bump+desk sympathy/solutions!! I'm such a banana, Sheldon. Of course, I can just lower my second, static screen and have that and laptop side by side rather than one on top of other. D'oh! Though I will still feel extremely tiny and a bit silly (yes, yes, thank you for your sympathy hilarity lanny! And yes I will happily have a go at being your adopted Mum. I am coping well with the idea of twins already, so being Mum to a third will be no trouble at all, I'm sure, hehe!!)

hamnvik congrats on your healthy boy!

Been busy all day trying to write a short article for our research project blog and dealing with double glazing companies. Funny how the nice two-man local company comes in at less than half the price of Everest!

GummiberryJuice · 31/10/2012 23:49

Hi all I hope you all have had a lovely Halloween, I'm so tired, as usual I cooked far too much food and think the sugar has just reached the baby.

Glad to see oldies back with good scan news

Stealth rest and relax as best you can

Flowery ouch for kick

Waves to everyone else, loads to say but just too tired and want to mark my place

Vivee74 · 01/11/2012 00:57

All sorted for our pram/bassinet/car seat. We ordered a orbit g2 baby. Just noticed there's a brand new one in eBay going cheap at present if anyone else has considered them. Love the 360 degree option for pram, bassinet and car seat when attached. Can lock at right angle if needed when in restaurant etc.

Good night

pinkpeony4 · 01/11/2012 08:24

Bbface the GT is the one I was thinking of getting but no shops close by have one. I think I need to venture to Oxford st John Lewis. Have you tried it? (Have you also found somewhere that sells it at a good price?!) I looked at Winstanley's pram world which seemed cheaper than most.

Manda the nipper folds in one piece but is hard to carry when folded and bulky especially if you have rain covers/foot muffs on. I found it a pain to fold up & store if I'm completely honest and so I never did, just stored it in my hallway. If you can keep it around the back then that would be a good option.

Stealth glad all went ok and I hope you get your results ASAP.

Will catch up more later. Have a fun morning of Ikea today, there is a large mothercare next door though so will pop in there and look at tiny baby things [hgrin]

OctoberCarrot · 01/11/2012 08:25

stealth. Glad to hear amino went well. Will be thinking of you over next few days.

pink is this the one you are talking about? It was the side by side I was contemplating as I think it is narrower than 360.
www.babyjogger.com/city_mini_dbl_dtl.aspx
We are moving house so don't know how I am going to use it but reckon more out and about than car. Are your sons close together? Is there anything else that you found handy with 2 close together?
Does the cocoon fit into it? Friend has offered me one - advantage of being last to have children is that there is a lot of kit floating around! - So must borrow it.

All the talk of unhappy p&t users. Such a shame. must investigate more.

mands. Are you getting bouncers? Have to say I thought it was the best kit. We got a baby bjorn which was quite expensive but it folds down flat which was brilliant when we went to visit friends/grandparents as we just popped in car. Brought it everywhere bar restaurants

Love the Tiffany rose dress. Dh didn't like io one. Grrrr. He keeps suggesting I wear a dress I got too years ago which is skin tight. Like seriously I probably wouldn't fit into it next year never mind I 8 weeks. Might just buy it anyhow and see if I like it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Oc x

Lexiindisguise · 01/11/2012 09:51

Manda glad to hear your friends got a good result; unfortunately we are stuck here during the duration! Work will start on the 3rd Dec but it is only the upstairs ceilings so hopefully that bit of work won't take too long.
Tramp I hope you feel in less pain & the sleeping must have been needed. Love your cat tales; mine both appeared as soon as I opened an eye the morning with inquisitive meows, they are confused that I didn't go to work.
Was sick in the night so think I have picked up a stomach bug; forcing myself to eat plain toast as I don't feel great but I am so hungry
JoJo I was looking at the Mothercare buggies, they look great! I only went with the Quinny as I got it half price with carrycot as a colleague was selling hers.
Welcome back KFForever! Congratulations to all on scans!
Right, off to my book & trying to resist temptation to do work email or housework.

zoeymlucas · 01/11/2012 10:31

Morning guys - am a right little grumpy pants this morning was awake from about 2.00am to 5.00am in agony with back/ pelvis and just couldnt sleep or get comfy needless to say I had managed to be in a lovely snooze by the time the alarm went off for work which is normally the way of things Sad

Am going to book a meeting with my boss when he is in next week as I cant sit her 5 days a week for 10 hours a day as its killing my back and as a result I dont sleep Mon-Fri nights so come Thurs/Fri I am dying and it cant continue ESP as now 21+1 as this is the high risk zone for me as both previous pregnancies started cervix problems at 23 and 22 weeks - sorry rant over!!!

theTramp · 01/11/2012 11:20

Zoey - eek. Yes have that chat and get yourself sorted. ots of pain and no sleep doesn't do anyone any good.

Lexi - ha! So I am not alone with dullard cats then. I believe mine resent all of the time where I am not there to be cuddle/feeding/tap-turning on/playing slave. There's generally a good ten minutes of grumpy and accusative meowing whenever I get home after being out for the day or evening. Think Charlies cat.. or are you too young to remember Charlies cat?
Glad you're resting. avoid temptation. Crap TV or movies on Netflix and books is precisely what you need.

I slept with cushion between my legs rather than under them, as instructed by chiropractor last night. Gees its uncomfortable. So not the greatest nights sleep. Although I did sleep and I didn't wake up til nearly 9am (oops) so def needed it. I'd rather like to be back to normal me for a while, am feeling way to anti-social and boring now I'm preggers. All exhaustion and odd days of grouchiness.

Am bit cross. MrM keeps taking a little white milk jug decorated with little flowers down to the office. Which belongs to the tea set that my Nan left me. I keep bringing it upstairs and putting it away and suggesting using the glass perspex jug or the red one that I bought just for the office. Anyway, its been smashed. I am more upset than is rational, after all it is only a milk jug and I should have put it back in the display cabinet. Somehow it was inevitable. I think I am more upset that he DIDN'T BLOODY LISTEN TO ME and only now it is broken is he appreciating that it was special which is why I DIDN'T WANT IT USED DOWNSTAIRS. (sigh). Nothing that can be done about it. Absolutely sod fricking all. But I am upset.

DJH80 · 01/11/2012 11:37

Hello - Just a quick update from me to let you know about our first session hypno-birthing session on Saturday. You're in for a treat Chefette if you get to do some of it as part of your antenatal classes. It was brilliant and not hippyish at all. We learnt loads about the history of birth and how in the "olden days" birth was something women just got on with without any worry about pain or problems. A bit like how women in tribes do these days.

We also did some relaxation techniques which was basically just concentrating on our breathing. I've been suffering from insomnia and waking up with aching hips/ pelvis (like you Zoey) and amazingly for the last couple of months the relaxation techniques we did, have helped me sleep through the night ever since.

Probably one of the biggest things I took away from it was about trying to convert negative thoughts into positive ones. So for my aching hips, I'm supposed to think... ouch they ache Angry, but at least that means my body is producing the hormones I need to prepare me for birth Smile. I think this might come with practice!

I'm more than happy to share stuff we learn on here if people are interested. It might become a little more useful as we get nearer the time.

Also - on a completely different note. On a thread miles back, people were discussing the heated clothes dryer from Lakeland. I've just had one delivered and remembered someone said they hang a sheet over it to make it work better. Silly questions but do you put the sheet on before or after you hang the clothes on it?

GummiberryJuice · 01/11/2012 11:53
