Swizzler · 17/05/2006 12:51

My scan's next week - would be more excited if they didn't call it the 'foetal abnormalities scan' Sad. Hopefully everything will be OK. Best of luck for yours, wuzzlefraggle.

No sickness, but still getting dizzy on and off. It's good remembering how nice food is, isn't it? Will be getting lg pot of ice-cream at the weekend - preferably chocolate Smile

wuzzlefraggle · 17/05/2006 12:54

Rianna · 17/05/2006 13:02

Verbaudet is frecnch: casual en Seraphine.

Good luck to all of you who will have snas soon, mine will be the 5th, still time to go.Still not decided if will ask sex.
My tummy is smaller now that it is higher! still don't look reaaly pregnant: more a little fat.How about you?

Rianna · 17/05/2006 13:02

snas is a scan, sorry, i'm terrible at typing.

wuzzlefraggle · 17/05/2006 13:08

rianna, mine is on the 5th too!

majormoo · 17/05/2006 13:50

hello. congrats on your little boy 3kids
My scan is on Tuesday, and have to admit it all got on top of me last night. DH was a bit drunk after a work night out and keep constantly singing the A team tune to swear words to tease me. I burst into tears!!!!
I think it's because I am so worried about the scan plus feeling a bit neglected by my family who are so (understandably) caught up in my sister's wedding that they haven't called for ages so I only get to speak to them if I call them. Adding to that all the heavy emotional issues with everyone noticing the bump, if I wasn't pregnant I would swear I have PMT because I am not usually this sensitive!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Swizzler · 17/05/2006 14:24

The sensitivity thing sounds normal - haven't thrown a strop for a while so I'm due one soon Grin

Best wishes for your scan. I don't think we can help worrying but the chances are it'll be fine and you'll get to see your baby again Smile

Family situation sounds tough. I'm pretty peeved at general lack of interest from famliy as well, though I may be expecting too much. They'll probably be much more interested once the baby is actually here.

Can you believe we're nearly half-way though? Shock

jmcmugwump · 17/05/2006 16:16

hi folks, haven't logged on for a while as OH seems to have some kind of monopoly on the PC at home - seems to be particularly prominent obsession when he is asked to help with anything resembling housework!:o In fact the other week I asked him to help change the bed, he said he doesn't do beds, so I have now been informed that before i get huge I have to change all the beds in the house so that we can sleep on different beds without having to change them - this of course won't affect him as by them I expect he will be sleeping in the shed:)
I am quite pleased that so far I have only put on 6.5lbs, as am now 18 + 5, but now getting really worried that you can all feel squirms and I can't, can any first timers feel anything yet?

As for birth plans, think will opt for first one in hospital, hopefully they know what they are doing there & OH has also said not happy about a mess on the carpet at home - see earlier comment about the shed! Wink Am hoping for calm unstressful painfree slightly sneezelike experience, but realistically will play it by ear and do what I think is best at the time, I think a never say never approach is best, but hoefully as little intervention as possible.

Still haven't bought anything yet except fat clothes & pg books, a bit scared to get proper baby things in case it jinxes it, but when I do decide to I hope the shops have stocked up in advanced, i think it will be the best shopping ever!.

Take care girls

Rianna · 17/05/2006 16:35

big hug to majormoo, sorry to hear your husband/ family is so insensitive.

Wuzzle,
sorry forgot if you are going to find out what you are having if the scan's ok?

Gingeme · 17/05/2006 19:03

Just a thought ladies about buying baby clothes. I realise they will need vests, babygros, bibs ect but dont forget we are due October. When the weather will be slightly cooler and wetter than it is while we are pregnant. All the clothes in the shops at the moment is for the summer season so arent we all being a bit premature with the clothes buying? Ok you can all tell me to shut up now.............Sorry!!!!Blush

majormoo · 17/05/2006 19:22

thanks swizzler and rhianna. DH is sensitive and really supportive even if I didn't paint him that way earlier- usually I would laugh at his antics so he couldn't know I was an emotional wreck that evening!

swizzler sorry to hear about lack of interest from your family too. This is grandchild number six for my dad so guess the novelty has worn off!

Gemmitygem · 18/05/2006 07:04

hi all ,just a quick hello and link to chinese gender calendar. is it correct for your kids so far?

www.pregnancyweekly.com/pregnancy_information/chinese_calendar.htm

wuzzlefraggle · 18/05/2006 11:24

hi ladies....ok im going to say it... BB7, tonight, 9pm channel 4!!! WWOOOOHHHOOOOOO!!!

jmcmugwump - im a first timer and i can only feel slight fluttering sensations, and thats only every so often. im 17+3

rianna - yup, we are deffinatly going to find out what we are having, i cant wait to know

majormoo - ((hugs)), sorry to hear that your family were being a little unsensitive and that you were down the other day...if it makes any difference, your not the only one, dp thinks im an emotional mine-bomb at tho mo Grin lol

Swizzler · 18/05/2006 13:12

My Miriam Stoppard book claims that I will get my sense of humour back in the next few weeks - not sure about that claim... can't see it being restored any time soon Smile. OH has learned NOT to make jokes about childbirth.

The family thing is odd, but then when my sister was pg I didn't really think about the 'being pregnant' thing for her, more about the baby when it would arrive. If you haven't had a baby (or if it was a while ago) I suppose you lose interest in the details.

Gingeme: great! an excuse not to buy stuff yet.

Majormoo: hope your scan went OK.

Swizzler · 18/05/2006 13:19

Re weight gain, just found this chart which shows you what the normal range for weight gain is at the various stages. I found it useful, as I wanted to know if I'd gained a normal amount so far, rather than what I should gain over the whole 40 weeks.

I'm in the normal range, so hurrah! Chocolate at the weekend Grin

\link{http://www.pregnancyweekly.com/pregnancy_information/weightgain_chart.htm#\chart}

Hope this works.

whiffy · 18/05/2006 13:44

I learnt a very big lesson (freudian lead-in here) never to weigh yourself when PG. You'll either feel so smug (less likely) that you'll treat yourself to a double-decker kickerbocker glory or something else equally repugnant, or you'll get so depressed (more lilkely) that you'll either binge eat to cheer yourself up or starve yourself to detriment of baby.

FWIT I weighed 106KG Shock by the time I went into labour (OMG. I finally admitted it to someone) but got back to my 'normal' weight (40kg's lighter) by time DS was 2. I was as big as a whale and miserable the whole time, but it was all water and there's bugger all you can do about it - some people carry loads more water than others. I think you should make sure you eat reasonably ok in terms of food quality and forget what you weigh - I've done that this time and feel miles happier. Mind you I'm fairly sure I'm a lot lighter this time, which obviously helps as well Grin

I can't remember regaining my sense of humour until about 3 months after the birth..... I am definately on the sensitive side at the moment as well, as evidenced by the stand-up slanging match I had with the head of sales on the dealing floor yesterday. Yikes. Mind you, was his fault for squaring up to me in the first place, so I felt fully justified. I just whipped out my 'pregnancy perogotive' card and got on with slaughtering the guy Grin

Swizzler · 18/05/2006 14:15

I'm trying not to get too worried about the weight thing, but I know I am going to be aware of it even if I try and ignore it ... I think it's v difficult to switch off from the mentality of watching your weight, even if you know it's pointless in pregnancy.

Apologies if I've offended anyone with the chart thingy, I know there isn;t an 'ideal' weight gain in pregnancy but I thought others might be asking the same questions.

The whole body image thing is weird though - sometimes I feel pregnant and other times just fat :(

Rianna · 18/05/2006 15:01

swizzler, that chart allows me much more then teh books I have ( thank you!) my weight gain until now (4.5 kilo's) is considerd 'low' there.moost books think it is 1.5 'too much' . anyway, yes i do weigh myself, don't want to put on too much but crave healthy foods, lots of salads anyway.
if anything, when i see 'm gaining 'too much' i switch to a helathier diet which isn't a bad thing ( no more mayo, fatty things etc.) i've found the smalle rportions also help against heartburn, which is much less this time.

Gingeme · 18/05/2006 15:43

Good afternoon ladies. Glad everyones feeling ok. Im realy not worrying about weighing myself. Like I said before Ive never been that bothered about my wight since I was little and no Im not one of those fat people who lie by saying'Im happy the way I am' either. I went to my lovely pharmacist today who is realy helpful and Ive known him for years to ask for something for my hayfever. He suggested some stuff called Nasaleze which is meant to line your nostrils to prevent pollen entering into your throat and being absorbed into your lungs. You can use it as many times as you feel the need to and its completely safe if your preg. Ill give it a couple of days and let you know. If it works hes saved me a fortune at the accupuncturist. Fingers crossed. Starting to get heartburn of an evening now. I had it real bad with ds no1. None what so ever with ds no2 and only a little with ds no3 as he started pushing up into my diaphram. Funny someone said if you get heartburn your baby will have lots of hair. What rubbish. ds no1 was nearly bald, ds n0 2 had a little wig on and ds no 3 had loads of hair too.

Sunshine78 · 18/05/2006 15:48

I can't agree more about the weight thing whiffy what does it matter. The other thing I would add though is to remember it takes 9 months to go on and will probably take the same to come off so don't beat yourselves up if your not back into shape the second the babies pop out in Oct!

Rianna · 18/05/2006 16:51
