Mm you have honestly never met my fil who takes selfishness to an entire new level.

Seriously. I am pretty sure he can and has outdone anything in terms of selfishness!!!

Never eaten in ikea, unlikely too!!

YellowWellies · 14/10/2012 21:06

I was thinking and no offence to folks living in Norn Irn (have family there myself) but compared to large parts of Belfast - where you live is like Disneyland, it is so safe given you have 24 hour armed police guarding ex PM Gordo and his Mrs! Cheeky sods. They sound to be totally used to always getting their own way. Also - why on earth are they bringing DH's niece - you are hardly going to be able to run around after her? Is this a 'let's see how good she is with kids' test?

YellowWellies · 14/10/2012 21:07

I'd be up for an Ikea hotdog meet (controversial I know....) I could drink their mustard it's sooooo yum.

kirrinIsland · 14/10/2012 21:11

horsey I have been happily ignoring that. Not sure if it's the right thing to do but i'm going to continue ignoring it until after the birth - if it's still a problem then I'll do something about it then.

I've just attempted a chippy dinner but my heartburn is spoiling it a bit :(

horseylady · 14/10/2012 21:15

Kirrin - I think I will ignore it and re start the laxatives!! I stopped them as I seemed ok but must still be needing them.

So wonderful this pregnancy!!! Get fat, can't eat or go to the loo!! Wonderful!!

Mother has assured me post baby my food will go down and I will have more space for cookies!! Good!!

MissMummy1 · 14/10/2012 21:15

Most likely because not-so-darling sil can't find another baby sitter and it's norn irn half term? I am being a complete bitch here (biting my lip in real life, honest!) but I'm so pissed off about the whole thing. I wouldn't put it past them if it was a 'how good is she with kids' thing. Christ I was responsible for 32 seven year olds in my p3 class last year!! You are very right - it's their way or no way. Thank god they aren't local and visits are very minimal!!

georgee · 14/10/2012 21:19

Ooh yes an IKEA meet! Mine's a hotdog too, yum!

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:21

And the dog too MM ? Time for your man to step in and say no me thinks!

I too think Ikea is a splendid place for a Scot meet up. Would prefer meatballs as the seating is more comfy in the restaurant.

horsey ouch! Meatballs are very good for piles. I know. I am a nurse. Seriously though, a trip to chemist at least perhaps? Usual recommendations are exercise (let's face it you are the fittest of us all) high fibre food, and lots of water. And cookies. And meatballs, but only ikea ones. And you must eat the jam.

kissyfur · 14/10/2012 21:23

MM can't believe the cheek of your in laws!! Just say no!

Roast dinner was lovely but I seem to have developed a full blown cold today Sad having a nice glass of white wine in the hope it'll make me sleep Smile

horseylady · 14/10/2012 21:27

I don't do meat!!! Despite having a freezer full of meat??!! So no meatballs. Will defo cookie tomorrow!! Don't worry!!

I do everything they suggest. Literally!!! Including the now taking of laxatives. Which has been the case from about 22 weeks.

The joys!!

Catbag · 14/10/2012 21:32

I have a confession.... I have never set foot in an Ikea store. Ever.

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:33

Humble apologies horsey I forgot you did not eat meat. Hopefully everything will be fine again once LO is out of the way of your bowel.

kissy wine sounds good.

GT hoping you are pushing already x

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:34

catbag go to ikea. The shock may bring on labour. Go about 4pm on a weekend if possible.

I love ikea. Nearly everything I own comes from ikea.

horseylady · 14/10/2012 21:38

Lol in all fairness I can't imagine the ikea meatballs contain much meat. And vegetarians are a pain in the arse to feed in a restaurant!! Really annoying!! People are always shocked when they find out I don't eat meat......So no need to say sorry!! I just don't like meat, I'd not top myself if I ended up eating some. Probably just spit it out!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/10/2012 21:38

I first went to ikea a couple of months ago.

I don't mind it but I can't do the walk round now it's too long, I prefer the little kitchen bits rather than actual furniture, although my front room is entirely ikea furniture.
I need to go before Xmas but will wait until I have had baby and the kids are at school. I also don't drive because the one time I did the while experience of ikea + pregnancy hormones + driving in Southampton + DP's hilarious jokes got a bit much and I sobbed when taking a wrong turn. Blush

Passmethecrisps · 14/10/2012 21:41

VQ honestly I think you might be on to something there. We were there today at about 4pm and it was like nothing you have ever seen before. It was managable until we hit the children's section when I thought DH might run away. My house has very little not from Ikea in it. I have no idea where else to buy furniture. The flat which we rent out is also a shrine to ikea. It's so handy where we are I suppose.

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:44

I went to ikea in edinburgh three years back when pg with DD2. Heavily pg. it snowed when we were inside, and all we had to dig the car out was DD1s little spade for the beach, so not much bigger than a spoon. I could not push as pg, and was convinced I was going to have the baby there and then. A lovely man in a 4X4 helped us out. We always joke about snow before going now, and have the biggest snow shovel in the car at all times, even summer Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/10/2012 21:46

Another quick Q, when timing contractions do you time from the end of one to the beginning of the next? Or different?

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:46

Ikea is stylish and affordable. We will look in second hand furniture places first, but usually go to ikea as we have a new house that suits the modern look. And they sell meatballs.

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:47

Beginning of one to beginning of next one I would think. Something to tell us tits ?

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/10/2012 21:52

No, I'm
Having a lot of bh but they're really close and short and I'm
Not sure what I'm supposed to feel. I tried explaining this to all the midwives drs etc, with DS2 I didn't feel a thing until I was nearly fully dilated and told to push. I'm worried my body doesn't tell me what's going on. My bump is going tight but coming from next to either hip and going up and round as it gets tighter. Just thought its the sort of thing I should know about by now. Blush

Sophiathesnowfairy · 14/10/2012 21:53

Just don't move your car mm leave it there.

Oo dear am just watching Downton Abbey. Not good vibes.

DH and DS still in Northern Ireland. I do have two ladies on standby to wisk me of to hospital if need be but all seems quiet. Although the baby is really pressing down and I keep needing to the loo but no wee. Is so frustating.

I miss my boys Sad

I wonder how gt is getting on?

Any more interesting twinges vq/swiss

YellowWellies · 14/10/2012 21:53

I agree with VQ MM1 your DH needs to stand up to his family a wee bit. This visit is verrrrry close to your due date and sounds like it is going to be no good for your sanity / hormones - all of which could end up confirming their worst view of you if you do lose it - I doubt they're the sort to give you any leeway for being heavily pregnant. And as for naming your child after his sister (if you have a daughter) if you don't like his sister - then that's a big fat no surely - if he wants to he can try pushing a baby out of his bits and see how far he gets. I'd tell him this, but as you're nicer than me - I would try the diplomatic line of "it would be unfair to call 'her' after your sis unless we call 'her' after my two sisters as well, and given my sisters live round the corner it could get confusing, let's not pick a sisters name so we're not biased".

Wooo tits something to share? :)

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 21:57

tits hmm. That sounds more like proper contractions. Perhaps the pain killers you are (if indeed you are, i get confused easily) on are masking the pain, but it sounds as if you have an awesomely high pain threshold as it is. How about calling the ward? How often are they coming? Are you flexible enough to check your cervix? If you can feel hair, go in!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 14/10/2012 21:57

And tits that sounds pretty promising, I remember them as waves if that is what it is like. I too think it is the beginning of one to the beginning of the next one.
