I didn't have the labour that I wanted, but at the end of the day, it's about the result.

Evil

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/10/2012 10:56

Argh, I'm getting nothing from this baby today, usually a zillion wiggles ad kicks before getting up, today one very begrudging wiggle when DP blew a raspberry on my bump. What point do I call to be monitored? Who do I phone? Labour ward? The day assessment until is closed at weekends.

applepieinthesky · 14/10/2012 11:00

Yes sophia they deliver every day.

The name we have chosen - Cassius - is number 400 and something and the first thing that will pop into most people's heads will probably be Cassius Clay but that's fine with me. I think it's a pretty cool association. I do worry about some ghastly celeb giving it to their child and it massively gaining in popularity but there's nothing that can be done about that. I always say if you love a name then go for it.

stunt Emily was one of our favourite names for a girl and we may possibly have used it as a middle name.

Just had a massive bowl of Cheerios and managed to spill half the box on the floor. Now going to finish cleaning the kitchen.

Good luck GT it sounds like you are really scared - try to take chunky's excellent advice about getting into a relaxed and happy place - you want your oxytocin to flow and to avoid being scared and panicked. Lots and lots of luck to you xx

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 11:03

chunkychicken glad your ofsted went well, I was thinking of you as I can only imagine its very stressful, more so when you?re preggers.

tits can you ring your midwife?

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/10/2012 11:06

She has a pager but I've never known her to answer it let alone a weekend! My bump seems very small and squishy too rather than hard and pronounced. :/

Catbag · 14/10/2012 11:12

Thought I should stop sulking and give you all an update. Was dragged admitted to labour ward on Wednesday night with contractions five minutes apart and back pain. Predictably, once I got to hospital they had stopped. They restarted again after about 45 mins or so, but were hopelessly erratic and ranging between the very gentle BH type and absolute monsters, but then started to die off again after an hour or so. Turns out I had blood and nitrites in my urine indicative of a uti (with no symptoms) and they couldn't say either way whether this had caused early labour or was presenting with the same symptoms. Doctor wanted me to stay in overnight for observation in case contractions started again, but discharged myself (they wanted to put me on a fairly bright ward that had another woman being monitored on it with a fetal monitor and another woman with a hacking cough, and all this at 1am) as there was no way I was going to get any sleep.

Came home and have had nought but the odd BH since. I was adamant that I was not in labour on Wednesday night. The contractions weren't really painful at all, just leaving me a little flushed and breathless, but DH rang labour ward and they said to come in. Doctor was a bit pissy with me for discharging myself and kept making comments about how I'd probably have given birth by my next consultant appointment (Tuesday), but ffs I'm hardly a novice at this and while I may not have been to medical school, I'm on offspring number 5 and 6 and do know my body. I'm so hacked off that I can't even begin to express it, but then I guess I've whinged to you lot so much in the last couple of months that I probably don't need to try, lol.

While I haven't said anything in the last few days, I have been reading the posts (in between sulking and sobbing) and have been glad to hear all the news (partic. little!) and am thinking of GT today. Hope she can update us all soon!

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 11:21

tits please ring the labour ward then - I think you need a scan for reassurance really, dont let yourself stress and worry. Go and get seen.

catbag lovely to hear from you - and I am sure you know your boady much better than a doctor, and of course you wanted to gi home so you could sleep! Of course medical professionals have to stick to hospital policy etc Sorry to hear you have been tearful but im sure that they are pregnancy symptoms/labour symptoms and nature! if that makes sense?! ((hugs)) to you anyway .

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 11:24

One for my friends called her boy Kai about two weeks before baby Rooney was born Grin. She was beyond furious.

I am so grumpy today. DH wanted to try our local church today, just what you want to do when you are about to drop. We usually travel some distance, but miss out on all the social stuff because of the kids, so figured local = good, plus DD1s best friend goes there and they have a very good Sunday School apparently. Well, after some persuasion, DH and DD1 have gone on their own. I am just not up to it physically, and am terrified my waters are going to go any second. My arms feel like they are concrete too Sad. I am so ready to not be pregnant anymore.

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 11:28

tits you are concerned enough to mention it here, so do give them a call. Much better a 'wasted, journey than continued worry or something unmentionable happening x

catbag your womb must be five star accommodation clearly. Do hope you soon have a successful eviction x

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 11:29

vq church would not be my number one place for water to go :)

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 11:33

Number one choice for me would be on MILs sofa Grin. It was new when DD1 was newborn, and I had to sit on a blanket when I fed her, with various blankets draped everywhere in case she was sick. How to be made to feel welcome, not!

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 11:34

pasties is it not time you were in bed?

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 11:38

Well it's 9.40 pm here, we had an hour change not long ago, but of course when you have your hour change soon, the difference between here and the uk changes again.

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 11:45

I always think it is 12 hours as you are underneath us Grin

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 11:55

ha! It gets a bit confusing, I have just skyped a couple of people this evening and it was darkish and they had the curtains drawn, it always feels wierd when we have just started to have lighter evenings - its a real contrast.

Bloody skype though - makes my face look big and fat, no matter what angle I help the lap top at!! Was lovely to see my nephews though.

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 11:58

that should of course say something like 'and it was darkish for them'.

GTbaby · 14/10/2012 12:05

So. Process started. I don't think I'll cope we'll with labour! I was shit during them putting in pessary ! F'in all over the place. Lol.

Don't worry this wont turn into a live birthing thread, I've got finish the last square for my blanket! Well that's a lie actually. Last square and it will be big enough to fit on baby during drive home, ill have to add more squares as I do them, I thought I had 2 more weeks!

blonderthanred · 14/10/2012 12:14

I don't mind if it does GT, I'm very interested esp as it'll be me next week. Hope things progress well.

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 12:14

gtbaby I love that you are still knitting, and thinking about your blanket for the baby! You will treasure that blanket for years to come :)

Go with the flow and we cant wait to hear news about your baby arriving.

ValiumQueen · 14/10/2012 12:17

Live birth thread sounds good GT if it helps you x you will be ok. Knitting is also good!

GTbaby · 14/10/2012 12:40

blonder I'm scared to give details as I haven't got my rose tinted glasses of baby in my arms yet! Lol.
I'm worried ill scare u all! But keep in mind I'm a wuss! Blush. Even during my smear test my nurse kept telling me to relax.

As ive mentioned before, I started my blanket in july! And I had 6 weeks off for summer. Need it done as I fought I'll get much more done when baby is here.

Really liked the idea of ppl at work knitting a square each for a blanket as baby gift. Can't remember who that was for. But think ill start that up at my school.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 14/10/2012 12:45

Good luck gt

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/10/2012 12:58

kirrinIsland · 14/10/2012 13:09
