So it's GT's turn tomorrow. Who will be next I wonder? Not much happening here but only 35 weeks.

Day 1 after finishing work and the nesting has begun. I want the whole house sparkling from top to bottom and I'm tackling it one room at a time. Today I've done most of the kitchen and been testing out the dishwasher so it's been on about 4 times already, I've been shoving everything in it Grin

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 13/10/2012 19:43

apple me too! DD and I spring cleaned our wardrobes this afternoon. Will tackle some serious cleaning when DD at nursery next week.

Good to hear from you evil. After saying I would never use dummies, DD still obsessed with hers at 20 months. She was a very sucky baby. I go with whatever works.

swiss and vq how exciting!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 13/10/2012 19:44

Oh, and DH knows that not only must I come home to a pristine house, but my bed must be made with clean sheets.

ValiumQueen · 13/10/2012 19:46

sophia do you mean high visibility jacket things? If so I bet horsey still fits in her regular ones. I shouldn't need a high vis jacket in daylight though, surely.

Talking of fitting in regular stuff, my two pairs of matching pjs still fit me, even around the tum and boobs. And the trousers I am wearing to go into hospital and come home are my pre pg ones, admittedly stretchy. Still less than 1/4 st weight gain. I am pleased. Who would have thought having a baby would have kick-started my weight loss?

ValiumQueen · 13/10/2012 19:47

Neither of mine would accept a dummy. I have a finger sucker and a thumb sucker. I wonder what boy will suck?

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 13/10/2012 19:52

vq that's good. I am also atill in pre-preg trousers. Am pretty sure will have lost weight overall after delivery, but that's not greatly impressive given my starting weight. The main thing for me will be not to wallop if back on after birth, like I did with DD. must be the only person who loses weight when preg, and puts it on when breastfeeding Blush

blonderthanred · 13/10/2012 19:58

I'd heard that dummies are recommended to reduce SIDS - I think they encourage the baby to breathe through its nose? I've bought a couple of TT Closer to Nature ones but am also keen not to interfere with establishing breastfeeding so will wait a while.

My sister threw me a baby tea party this afternoon, I said I didn't want a shower as I didn't want people to feel they had to bring presents, so instead people brought songs for me to listen to in hospital. DSis is a great party organiser so we had lots of games and a lovely tea. I feel very lucky (also exhausted).

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/10/2012 20:02

Will be thinking of you tomorrow GT

ValiumQueen · 13/10/2012 20:07

Me too madame.

applepieinthesky · 13/10/2012 20:11

I fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans but they dig in around the waist so I wear maternity ones because they're more comfy. They still fit perfectly on the legs though so that's good.

kissyfur · 13/10/2012 20:17

Good luck to GT, VQ and swiss ! Exciting Smile

Wow apple jeans are impressive!

I really do not know if anything is actually happening. I wish I could pee on a stick and it tell me when it is kicking off.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/10/2012 20:44

How frustrating vq and swiss. Try and relax and not think about it, time for a Wine perhaps? Keep the updates flowing!

SwissArmyWife · 13/10/2012 21:14

Same here VQ it is a pain (literally) I would just like to either be in labour or not!!
Well no contractions since I last posted, now sitting in bed and baby is really pushing down (which hurts) and wriggling a lot, has been very active all day actually which is a little unusual, he usually wakes up at night.
I don't want to give birth yet, I haven't made it to 37 weeks which means I wouldn't be able to go to the mwu Sad

lane I do believe we're due on the same day, 9th Nov??

GT all the best for your induction tomorrow, Hoping things go smoothly for you :)

I think I was cursed by a sales assistant today. She took one look at me and said "gosh you've not got long left have you?" I replied, "no, four weeks" she then laughed and said "oh you don't look like you'll make it that far! My son was born three weeks early"
Cheers for that then!!

SwissArmyWife · 13/10/2012 21:16

Sorry - MWLU even!

Passmethecrisps · 13/10/2012 21:56

Hello!

How lovely to hear from little!

evil congrats on your first outing - how exciting!

I'm a do what you need to do kinda gal when it comes to dummies. Someone have us 6 of them so we are well prepared.

Got back from parents - DH is totally knackered from trying to decorate the whole house. I am knackered from being up for a wee every single hour.

I am incredibly impressed by those who can fit in their pre-pregnancy jeans. I haven't tried but I know my bum and thighs have got chunky as I can see it. That's where I carry more weight anyway so it would make sense.

stunt sorry, you mentioned your wee boy the other day after I asked and I didn't respond. I am hugely sympathetic to the change a diagnosis can make. Suddenly things make sense and you can stop blaming yourself. I am endlessly frustrated by the bad press parents can get for 'wanting a label'. What parents need is reassurance and support - if a diagnosis gets this then so be it.

swiss you as well?! All this action is super exciting!

I will be thinking of you GT. You are so close

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/10/2012 22:06

If this baby turns out to be a boy it will more than likely have James as a middle name. No real reason, I think it just flows well between the first name and our surname. There are no family names I like apart from my DH's but he doesn't want his name to be our (potential) DS's middle name. He thinks its a bit attention seeking, I think he's being daft!

Can't recall the posters name who said about the night feeds but thank you! I have to say I had been sort of dreading them this time round as I can't rest during the day like I did with DD. But it's so true in that its a special time and will be my chance to spend time alone with DC2 so I shall view it like that from now on and actually look forward to it. Remind me of that when I'm pulling my hair out at 4am due to constant feeding Grin

StuntNun · 13/10/2012 22:08

Thanks Pass when DS1 was referred for autism assessment I asked the educational therapist what advantage there would be to having a diagnosis and she said they have specific techniques and programs that they would use to help him overcome the difficulties he was experiencing. It also gives the school something they can understand.

Evil before I had children I had a very low opinion of dummies. But when DS1 was born he was always unsettled until you put your little finger in his mouth to suck. He couldn't find his own thumb. Once he was given a dummy he was much happier. Now we know he requires more sensory stimulation than most because of his ADHD, indeed he still always has something in his mouth now age 9. It wasn't too hard to wean him off the dummies, it just requires a good plan and a lot of willpower. DS2 on the other hand, he sucked his middle two fingers from day one and wasn't remotely interested in the dummy. Every child is different, you just play it by ear.

It's sounds like thier might be some more babies on the way! I can't wait to hear from you all.

Thanks for the info about the dummies.
We are getting the medulla swing electric pump as my wrists are getting knackered, It should arrive on Tuesday.

Tomorrows plan, out for a walk around the park. If the weather holds.

jenbird · 13/10/2012 22:28

Wow this thread goes so fast.... so a blanket congratulations to all those who have good news and good luck to those whose news is imminent.

I am only 34+4 but I am so fidgety today. The baby has been doing proper somersaults all day, I have had bump ache, back ache and fanjo pain. The thought of another 5 weeks of this is driving me nuts. My waters have always gone as a warning sign so I am not worried that it will happen soon. Not ready for a baby yet, haven't got anything ready and have a decorator, builder and plumber coming next week to sort the house out so can't have baby for another few weeks at least!

On labour starting times - is it more likely to happen at nighttime?? I hope so as my hb works a good hour away and I am slightly worried that if it starts in the day we won't make it to the hospital which is also a 45 min drive away as I have fast labours. Waters went at 18 00, 02 00 and 04 00 with previous dc's.

We have boys names sorted but no girls names. vq love the name benedict. Love Violet too but we have a friend with a violet so it's no.

Anyway back to crap Saturday night TV. We are considering watching the Total Wipeout we had recorded for ds. It must be bad!

horseylady · 14/10/2012 00:01

Nature makes it more likely for you to start in the evening as you relax and feel safer. Sheep, horses, pigs, cattle etc are more likely to start then too.

Yes hi viz still fits but it was massive to start with lol!! I'm huge!! My bump literally doubles in size daily although I couldn't keep my maternity jeans up today and had to resort to a belt!! which is odd as last week although big weren't falling down.

Am shattered, just finished work.... Off to bed night!!

GTbaby · 14/10/2012 00:48

Safe to say I'm bricking it Blush. Can't sleep. Dreading internal exams. So thanks for tip on gas n air, Blush to I can't remember who. Dreading it all tbh. DH telling me it will b ok is not really helping. Well I don't know what would help. Just feel so out of control. Just wana stay in bed n hide Sad.

I know I'll have my baby soon. But I can't really see past the birth at the minute.

Iheartpasties · 14/10/2012 01:51

gtbaby oh bless you. Dont stress too much. Good luck.

Good luck to everyone who is having labour pains, I'm a bit jealous, I'm ready to have this baby now. And I'm in the same camp as a few others as I'm not too sure what will happen if it all kicks off during the day with regards to DH getting home etc. I'm hoping for a lovely early morning labour, not the middle of the night though (can you hear me baby?!!!). You can never picture how it will happen or when though so I must learn to stop focusing on it so much.

DonnaDoon · 14/10/2012 05:24
