Congrats Donna. Hope all is well.

Feeling a lil better now. Out of my room at least. Had a bunch of visitors to keep me distracted. Lil Bro gave me a massive hug which was cute. Lol. DH has gone to work a night shift now. Get the bed to myself Grin

Also need to get knitting! I have 7 of 25 squares needed for my baby blanket Blush. Better get my knit on. I only started in July! N have had 6 weeks summer holidays to get it done. Oh dear.

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 22:03

Awwwww Donna great news! Our first singleton team pink? Well done you hon - sounds like a great weight. Any reason she came early or just to keep you on your toes? Can't wait to hear more about her, the birth and how you are both doing. Lots of love to you and your wee family.

Catbag I'm getting the 'any day now' and 'you'll not be having that one in November it'll turn up this month' comments. I too feel an itch to headbutt folks, not least because I fear they are jinxing me to a very late labour :( and also because, well they're not obstetricians or midwifes so can feck off.

Glad to hear that there is a team of 'can't be fecked to batch cook - DH can do it / get me a takeaway'. I'm wondering if this will be the fault line that will be the effective division into slummy vs yummy Mummies. Am definitely going to be slummy. Slummy is much more fun Grin Wink

TheDetective · 08/10/2012 22:05

I can't walk!!! Well I can walk but IT HURTS! Like I've been kicked in the fanjo. Pardon the french, but fucking birthing ball. Not making that mistake again! I'm wondering if I've pulled a muscle because I had my legs wide open Grin for too long.

I just dragged myself in to the nursery, and took the plastic wrapping off the car seat, and changing mat, and rearranged the thousands of unnecessary blankets. I then had a play with the pram, which is now parked in the hall way, with a filled changing bag hooked neatly on it. I've been practicing putting the raincover on. I admit to getting a little excited, but daunted at doing all this again! It has been so long, it seems surreal almost?

With regards to changing bags, have I missed a trick? I won't be using mine instead of a handbag, but as well as?? My handbag completes my outfit, so, I'd have to have about 30 different styles of changing bags! I'll just stick my hand bag under the pram while out, unless it is an over the shoulder type one! I don't have many of those though, most are carried in my hand, or at the elbow??

I'm wondering about lack of room for shopping bags though, as you can't hook carriers etc on the pram, and the shopping basket is only big enough for the raincover, and my bag Grin

I thought about the buggy hooks, but don't want to topple the thing over!!

TheDetective · 08/10/2012 22:06

YW, me you are VQ are all going to hell together Grin

shanelle5 · 08/10/2012 22:09

Oh wow another little one! Whod have guessed they would start coming so soon when were a November thread Smile Am I right that Donna's is our first little Girl?
Knowing me I will be overdue as usual - 15 days late is my record, can you imagine! Shock

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 22:10

Oh ladies in the North of Scotland - go and look outside - we've got a beautiful display of the Northern Lights up here. Which reminds me, I do really rather love Aurora as a middle name for the wee one if we're team pink. DH has just nodded in agreement. Shock It might be because he's playing Resident Evil and agreeing to anything...

Kyzordz · 08/10/2012 22:15

Congratulations Donna!

I'm in bed and really really thirsty but daren't keep drinking, I'll be up all night going to the loo if I do!

daisychain76 · 08/10/2012 22:17

Congratualationsthechick and donna.

Dixiebell · 08/10/2012 22:17

Ooh like the name Aurora, YW. Wish I could see it too. Not so much here in Hampshire.

MissMummy1 · 08/10/2012 22:29

Wow congrats donna! Can't wait to hear her name and see a pic. Hope you're both doing well xxx

YW Aurora is a lovely middle name! I suggested Luna as a middle name if we're team pink as the moon dictates a lot of our sailing and our wee house up north was on the outskirts of a village called Lunanhead. DH just keeps sniggering at the other connotations of Luna (looney?)

Wish I could see the Northern Lights. They've lit the rail bridge up tonight though, does that count?? Grin

TheDetective · 08/10/2012 22:37

'We're massaging our colons ladies' was not a phrase I wanted to hear this evening!

I am never going on youtube hypnobirthing videos again. Ever!

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 23:09

Hahahahahaha! Massaging your colon sounds like fun!

I am very jealous of the northern lights sighting YW. I am not sure we have ever had a sighting as low as Stirling. I would love to see them though. Aurora is also a beautiful name.

All this actual having of babies really does mean I have to get off my increasingly large arse and pack my bag.

blonderthanred · 08/10/2012 23:15

I'd love to see the Northern Lights. If we hadn't become pregnant I might have made a trip to Iceland this winter.

I'm definitely on the slummy mummy side of the equation, DH and I had a good giggle when the mw at the antenatal class said they worried if new mums and their houses were too tidy!

Finally I'm getting organised - went for mega shop with my mum, we bought lots of baby stuff including a couple of ridiculously cute outfits from The White Company which I'm sure the baby will save up its biggest poos for. Mum also bought me some new PJs and slippers which was rather lovely of her. Can't believe it's only a couple of weeks till my induction and then there will be a baby in the outfits!

TheDetective · 08/10/2012 23:33

I think I've fucked my fanjo. Not in the good sense of the word.

:(

GTbaby · 09/10/2012 00:22

Oh no det. Don't sound good , but mine feels like I've been kicked. Very hard walking at the mo. n when in bed trying to turn over Sad omg the pain. Should try n sleep. But keep thinking about going to LW on Sunday. Eeekkkk

georgee · 09/10/2012 05:08

Morning all. Been up for an hour. Now this is starting to resemble the last pregnancy - apart from the fact that last time it was in the summer and at least I had a nice view to look out on at about 4.30am. Now the curtains are drawn and it's decidedly chilly! Hope to be able to get back to bed later. Inlaws are here and often take DD at about 6am and then give her breakfast, bless them.

However, I have a bit of work to do so am toggling between doing that and Mumsnetting.

Another slummy one here. I batch cooked a bit last time but I think we take our chances this time. Might leave it to DH, although I have a friend who sent her husband out to buy stuff that they could eat easily the week after the birth and he came back with a load of Pot Noodles!

Congrats donna, look forward to hearing all about it when you have a moment.

Wish I'd looked up in the sky on the way back from a meeting last night (which ended at about 10.30), I'd have liked to have seen some Northern Lights. Although Edinburgh probably is a bit bright and a bit far south for that.

rowingdowntheriver · 09/10/2012 06:17

Congratulations Donna! Glad to hear you and baby are ok and looking forward to hearing her name.

I've done some batch cooking this time round. I didn't bother last time round but I got so bored of ready meals that I thought I'd make the effort. Also, I want to make sure I have some proper food in the house for DS - whilst DH and I can manage on takeaways, pot noodles, toast and ready meals for a few months, I'd feel bad giving that to a 1 1/2 year old!

So far I've cooked - Paprika Pork, Cottage Pie, Potato and mushroom Gratin, Moroccan lamb with rice (rice is all mixed in with it so I had to cool it very quickly before freezing it to be safe), Beef and beer casserole.

Am planning to also cook Cauliflower cheese, salmon and prawn red curry, Beef Chilli and maybe if I have time a chicken pie (copying missmummy). Did you cook the whole pie or just the filling? I can't remember what was written about it now.

I booked my WC jab for this Wednesday. It was easy enough for me to get from the gp with the only problem being that I called when I was at 36 weeks and they said to just wait for my 38 week GP appt and have it then. As I am booked in for c-section at 39 weeks I wanted to have it earlier as I understood that the earlier you have it the better? Receptionist wasn't aware of that but booked me in a bit earlier anyway.

I think it was fatima who mentioned clearing out her home office. The same rigs true here - we have a tiny study which is really a dumping ground for anything that doesn't have a home. I feel I should get it organised but wouldn't know where to start as can barely see the floor in there, let alone the desk or shelves!

DH is off this week and I have finally officially finished work. We were supposed to go away but haven't got round to booking anywhere so instead are doing day trips from home combined with baby preparations. Today I'd like to sort through all of DS old clothes to get the neutral ones washed and ready for baby.

We still need to think of a name! Anyone else still struggling. There have been a couple that one of us likes but we've not found any that we both really like. yw aurora is a lovely middlename. And missmummy, Luna is great too and reminds me of Harry Potter!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 09/10/2012 06:50

We're still struggling on a name too rowing. DH and I have completely different ideas as to what it should be, don't yet have any common ground.

ValiumQueen · 09/10/2012 07:02

Our junk room is where the baby is meant to be sleeping. It is very tricky finding homes for stuff where there is no room elsewhere. I plan to spend quite a bit of time selling on eBay. As soon has junior is deffo a boy, the girls stuff can go, then as he grows out of stuff... That is the plan.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/10/2012 07:08

Congrats donna, another one already, can't want to hear a name!

yw i am in the jealous of the Northern Lights club too Envy, and love the names Aurora and Luna

I'm not sure I fancy my colon being massaged

Day to self today so on with the nesting, think I will do the brownies for the freezer, bit of ironing and Hoover up all the bits of fluff from DHs socks. How do his socks produce so much black fluff?

Lilliana · 09/10/2012 07:28

Congratulations Donna so pleased she and you are both ok. Can we have details when you have time please?!

YW I have done some batch cooking but would definately put myself in the 'slummy mummy' category, I just live so far away from a take away they don't deliver and it's a long round trip to go pick it up! On the other hand nesting has definately NOT set in, my house is looking a state, I have lloads of jobs to do and I can't be arsed to do anything about it - does that balance the slummyness?

So jealous you can see the N lights from where you are - DH took me on a surprise trip to Iceland and proposed under the northern lights :) :) :)

Detective my fanjo constantly feels like it has received a good kicking :( I feel your pain. I'm too slatternly to use a handbag to complete my look so my change bag will do for me - but my lovely uni friends clubbed together and bought me a gorgeous one so I'm happy with that. Grin Was going to suggest the pram hooks but see you have already thought of that.

Grin at 'he came back with a load of pot noodles' ! This would be my DH

I have my flu and wc jabs booked for this pm - hate, hate, hate needles and Dh can't even come to hold my hand. Not looking forward to it, or sleeping on them tonight.

horseylady · 09/10/2012 07:36

I did not sleep last night :( no reason just wide awake :( shattered now!!

ValiumQueen · 09/10/2012 07:47

Slummy mummy here. I wonder if changing bags with that written on are available/would sell? I am trying to nest, but the kids and mostly DH undo my good work very quickly.

Titsalinabumsquash · 09/10/2012 07:52

Donna Smile congratulations! Smile I'm glad you and your little girl are safe and healthy.

I'm having one of those days where getting up seems too much but staying in bed is going to leave me feeling low too. I still have a couple of things to do but I just can't find the motivation.
I slept all night as well! Didn't even hear DP go to work this morning which is practically unheard of.

I think I need to pop to Tesco and get something in for dinner at some point.
I think I need some adult chat, shame everyone is busy!

kirrinIsland · 09/10/2012 07:58

Congratulations Donna :) And what a great weight - my DD weighed that when born at 39+2!

I am definitely a slummy mummy here - haven't even considered batch cooking, and while I'm full of ideas for cleaning and sorting I'm not actually doing any of it. My office clearing yesterday consisted of me going through one folder and doing a bit of shredding before giving up and having cup of tea. It's going to take years to sort it at that rate!
