candy I really sympathise. I went with instinct regarding jags so I now have WC and flu done. My widwife didn't mention it so it was over to me to decide. Re the tear versus cut - I am not sure. Might a tear heal better because the tissue might sort of knit back together? Does that make sense?

VQ no neat piles here. I did move some stuff upstairs so at least the cat can get to get scratching post.

horsey and YW I tip my hat to you. I am so pleased that school holidays sort of prevented me from having to make the decision. Had we had the week with is more typical I would definitely have gone on one more week. It wasn't work as much as the driving there and back. It's a 40 mile round trip and it was starting to get tough. Sore back, sore hands and just a bit spaced by the evening drive home.

Today I have done a spot of tidying, made brocolli and Stilton soup, made the mince part of cottage pie and done a fair bit of laundry. Going to have tea and cake now.

All of a sudden I feel massively pregnant. Baby moves all the time, I suddenly can't bend over with grunting, getting a throat full of bile or almost tipping over and I appear to be leaking milk, wee and sweat. I am so glad this waited until I finished work!

GT I am sorry you seem to be being messed about. It sounds really worrying and frustrating. I really hope you can get some resolution soon.

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 13:38

Vibes coming your way little!

StuntNun · 08/10/2012 13:45

Candy your baby won't have a reaction to the WC vaccine because it is injected into your muscle, not into your bloodstream. Baby will only get the antibodies you produce.

YW there have been ten deaths in babies under eight weeks but there have been hundreds/thousands of cases.

Re cutting vs tearing, my understanding is that a tear heals better but a cut is more controlled whereas a tear can go too far.

MM1 I think because most new Mums won't be able to continue work after the wee one arrives - it's based on when the baby is due but you still have to have 26 weeks of NI under your belt this test period. So for me, I'd have to keep working / paying stamp to get it if the wee one arrives early. I'm lucky that my client will let me do a few hours a week proofreading after the birth, to up my allowance if needs be.

Peaky do you have a local real nappy library where you can borrow nappies to try? I'm going to borrow some off my sister to see if they are something I'll realistically use - otherwise it's a lot of money to spend if you give up after a couple of weeks and revert to throwaway nappies.

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 13:48

peaky you do not need a lot of other stuff, just a baby and nappies. You do not even need a washing machine. blonder asked a similar question on the nappy board, so I recommend you have a wander over there. It is the last day of the little lamb OSFA offer, which would be a good way of trying it out as only £4 each.

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 13:49

Stunt and presumably those hundreds and thousands of cases include babies both from Mums who have had and who didn't have the jag as kids? The deaths could be to do with the age and general health of the baby (or pure bad luck) rather than linked to Mum's childhood jag history?

Cut or tear, where is the 'neither' box? I'd like to select that option please Grin

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 13:50

brockle they will give one in each arm. You are being a woos! It will hurt anyway even if you do not have your BP checked. Likely only the WC one will be sore, so get BP checked on other arm.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/10/2012 13:53

I deffo think I'm allergic to something flu jab, I cannot stop itching!!!!! Angry

Midwife now, will report. Smile

FatimaLovesBread · 08/10/2012 13:56

At how many weeks has/is everyone getting fitted and buying nursing bras?

My boobs seem to feel a lot harder this week so I presume another growth spurt is on the way.

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 13:56

little bugger! That will teach you for saying you want to be next! All that matters really is safety of mum and baby. Accept that, and anything else is a bonus x

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 14:00

little that came out wrong. I am not calling you a bugger. That is my reaction to your situation. Blush

NervousAt20 · 08/10/2012 14:02

Good luck little lots of positive thoughts your way

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 14:07

Oh little good luck this afternoon. Fingers crossed you can still have your wee one at the birth centre. Who commented that they are 'leaking piss, sweat and milk' you made me laugh - me too, bar (oddly) the sweat - am sure that will find me soon - or maybe it's because I live on a sub arctic island Grin. It's all glamour eh?!

StuntNun · 08/10/2012 14:11

YW it doesn't matter whether you have been vaccinated as a child or have had whooping cough, they still recommend the vaccine so that you are producing the IgG antibodies that cross the placenta. If you have immunity from a past infection/vaccine you will only be producing IgA antibodies which are only passed on in breast milk. The only expectant mothers that don't need the vaccine are ones that have caught whooping cough in late pregnancy or been exposed to it recently.

I knew I was being a wuss Grin Grin Stupid given that I have given birth to two babies! You can imagine what I was like when I had my blood transfusion Blush

TheDetective · 08/10/2012 14:15

I got home to a letter from GP surgery today, with an appt for this friday for WC vaccine. I'll be 36+6, so it might be a bit late for me.

I can't go anyway as I am on nights, and I still can't decide whether to have it. Considering I agree to the baby having all the usual vaccines, I have never had any vaccines since I've been of an age where I can decide myself. Can't quite put my finger on why....? It isn't like I'm needlephobic or anything, I just don't want to be vaccinated Confused

I need more time to consider it - but I don't have the time. Great. Envious of those who do have time to think it over properly!

Had my last hypnobirthing session this morning. It is getting easier to relax myself. But still not easy enough that I can bloody sleep past 4am! I now have 3 days off work, and 2 of those are child free as DS is at his dads. So, I am not leaving my bed. Even if I am awake Grin

Well, I'd not be leaving it, if it wasn't for the fact DP stripped it and put it on to wash this morning! And we only have one set of bedding! D'oh

ARGHHHH!

TheDetective · 08/10/2012 14:17

Episiotomy vs tear - knowing that even an episiotomy can't stop a 3/4th degree tear if it is going to happen, sways me to the camp that it is better to tear.

All the evidence points towards tears healing better.

ShellyBobbs · 08/10/2012 14:22

Candy I had a reaction to the WC jab when I was young, I had a massive fit due to it - it was a totally different variant then (and live I think) and I was in a pretty horrendous state. I had no worries about it when I had it on Friday, and not only did I not react, not even any red or swelling, but baby is very active and following it's same movement pattern (movement ALL the time) There was also a lot of scare mongering in the 70's about it causing brain damage - all proven to be unfounded (is your other half in his 30's, I would expect MIL's to not be keep, even my mum commented on it).

Even if there was some gene that caused it and they were using exactly the same strain of vaccine, again, it's YOU having the jab and baby get's a good old bath in your ANTIBODIES, so will not come into contact at all with the jab until immunisation time.

I've not read past your post, so bet I'm cross posting yet again Grin

And I also do understand how hard it is to make decisions like this about your unborn, I'm just giving you things to take into consideration aswell.

capedcrusader25 · 08/10/2012 14:22

Hi all, sorry they have messed you about GT :( hope you get some answers soon.
brockle I had my flu jab on saturday and the wc jab this morning, different arms. Then had my blood pressure checked in the wc arm and was fine :)
Congrats evil on being home with your gorgeous boy and congrates chick too - hope you are both doing well!
I'm 34+4 and she's still breech. No attempt from her to move at all and she's definitely got less room as her movements have changed from more kicking to swooshing, etc. Midwife is thinking she's staying that way!
little positive thoughts to you :)

ShellyBobbs · 08/10/2012 14:23

*not be keen; damned baby brain over-ruling my fingers!

Dixiebell · 08/10/2012 14:34

nervous, how big is the pink lining bag? I want to get a new one but a bit bigger than my free Boots one as I will have DS's nappies etc still to carry round. Don't want to spend a lot if it's just the same size! Was looking at some lovely big ones in my friend's new maternity boutique the other day but the were £90+ Shock! Told DH and he said he'd been thinking of buying me a new one so if I wanted it to get it...Shock again! But maybe will look for something a little bit cheaper...

ShellyBobbs · 08/10/2012 14:39

I'm also in the 'let it rip' gang, it did with my first and healed up nicely, it's never flared up in the 3 pregnancies after that either or torn again in the births (bucket fanjo Blush).

Brockle They have to do one in each arm, sorry to deliver the bad news :)

GT Hope you get some straight answers soon, sounds like they don't know their arses from their elbows! And get them bras ordered online, from ebay for fast delivery if the other websites don't state how fast. I've never used maternity/nursing bras during any of my 3 others, so don't stress if you have to get them after, a muslim cloth will hide your modesty, just flap them out girl Grin.

Little good luck. Oooh, you could be next!

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 14:44

Stunt I'm totally in favour of the WC jag btw and have already had it! Grin I've been trying to persuade the others who are worrying that it's not been tested, by reminding folks that nowt is tested on preggo women.

horseylady · 08/10/2012 14:48

Little good luck!! Everyone is saying my bump has got bigger and lower over the weekend?! I don't think it grows that much in two days? I did think it had dropped exercise suddenly ok again!!

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 14:53

I might put a new pic up, having seen the lovely ones put up by horsey, MM1 and detective amongst others on the FB page. I think my bump has got a lot lower over the last fortnight. They also seem to have settled on a position facing right, back out, bum up, crossed legs / feet out to either side but mostly kicking on the left.
