After sleeping for 2 nights and one nap absolutely no probs in his new big boy bed, DS has decided to give me grief with today's nap. Will only sleep with me in his room. So am sitting on floor watching him sleep. I ache and just want to lie on sofa! I keep sneaking out, watching 5 mins of Strictly before he wakes screaming again. I have managed to cram in a cuppa, half a scone and piece of synthetic Peppa Pig birthday cake among the breaks so not all bad...now what can I buy on eBay app?

MissMummy1 · 08/10/2012 15:01

YW very jealous that you can tell the position - not even my midwives can work out what way junior's lying! I gave up on bump plotting as it's too difficult to distinguish anything other than 'that was movement somewhere'. Damn those stomach muscles...

FatimaLovesBread · 08/10/2012 15:20

I've just put up a full length mirror, well 4 of those mirror squares you get from Ikea in a column, so I might take a bump picture later. Although be warned, i'm in my scruffs.

Now on to the next job, clearing out the bills/post/junk cupboard. Feel like i'm getting loads done today

kirrinIsland · 08/10/2012 15:27

Positive vibes coming your way little

GT that all sounds very frustrating - sounds like they've dropped the ball somewhere along the way :(

I've just had my WC jab, and, after a fortifying chocolate bar and cup of tea, I am about to tackling the disaster area we refer to as the "office" - really just a small room off the hall where I dump stuff I don't know where else to put. I can't even get in there now it's so messy. Wish me luck!

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/10/2012 15:32

All done at the midwife, baby is fully engaged now and bizarrely had his back curled right along the left which he never does, it's always to the right in a big sticky outy lump Grin
She is going to start coming and seeing me at home, she said absolutely no more clinic after seeing me hobble in on my crutches and support belts.

Measuring a couple of weeks behind and she recommends discussing an induction at term on Friday with consultant because she agrees I cannot go on with my mobility this reduced and no pain relief.
Still got all sorts showing up in my wee sample but nothing new there.

little good luck at the hospital Smile

horseylady · 08/10/2012 15:44

All jabbed up. Nurse seemed somewhat apprehensive then after a chat could understand why. However, I have still gone with government advice and knowing that I'm taking the brunt of the infection etc. So well see.

Bump is not very lovely! I still can't get used to it!!

ShellyBobbs · 08/10/2012 15:49

At term, does that mean 37 weeks Tits?

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 15:51

tits about blooming time.

Shelly what is a muslim cloth? Grin

StuntNun · 08/10/2012 15:51

YW it's great to get some discussion on here about the WC jab. Some of us are leaning towards vaccination, some against but we all have to make a decision one way or the other. I'm getting the vaccine in Friday, mainly because my SIL's son had whooping cough last month and that brings it all close to home.

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 15:53

horsey did I read that as the nurse being apprehensive and you explaining? If so I am Shock

GTbaby · 08/10/2012 15:56

Booked in for induction on Sunday. But warned 1st babies take longer to induce. So dh has promised to take me bra shopping on Wednesday. Wink which is also our 2nd year anniversary. But have to admitted I've cried three times in last hour. Blush. When mw talked me thro process of calling Sunday morning. When telling my mum. N then on drive home. I KNOW I've known the baby is coming for quite some time now. But I'm so scared now Sad. Just want to hide in my room n not talk to anyone. Blush.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/10/2012 16:00

I think they mean 40 weeks as term here, I might be able to get it quicker if they actually see the pain I'm in. If he's small though I'm not sure if they'll wait. I guess Friday will tell.

applepieinthesky · 08/10/2012 16:03

Little and GT Good luck. Hope you both get some answers today.

Detective I've got my second hypnobirthing class tonight and despite being absolutely knackered I'm looking forward to it. Did you enjoy your classes?

Apparently my department are going out for lunch on friday as it's my last day. I'm hoping that as the FD suggested it that he'll be paying for it! It has been hinted at that they may be buying me a cot mobile or changing bag which are the last things on my list. Waiting to see what they get me so I can buy the other one. It would be just my luck to order a changing bag and then they go and buy me one!

MissMummy1 · 08/10/2012 16:03

Oh GT big hugs. You now have a date to work to - however close and scary - and some answers. I hope that provides you with some relief. I'm impressed you've convinced your DH to take you bra shopping, and on your anniversary too! How romantic!! Grin. All the best, take it easy this week and whenever the itching becomes unbearable, remember it will all be worth it when you have your first cuddle on Sunday xxx

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 08/10/2012 16:13

I Have the midwife on thurs so will be asking whether my surgery is prescribing the WC jab. I will probably be vaccinated if i get the option even though I hate hate hate needles.

I was going to call GP today to get an appointment to get more painkillers as I'm struggling but i haven't yet and cant decide if it's worthwhile.

Baby getting more and more active which is funny as my tummy moves like crazy.

Having a nightmare with Scottish Water in our area. Water keeps turning brown, yeuch. I called on sat night and they delivered me 12 litres of bottled stuff. Just seen on FB that there was a lorry handing out supplies near the health centre so I drove down and hobbled over to pallets and a guy came over and carried some to my car. I thought he was being very kind, til he told me he had been told to help me! But I now have 24 bottles of water, not much use for a bath tho is it!?

georgee · 08/10/2012 16:14

Oh good luck GT! All will be well, you'll see. I remember feeling quite weepy before my induction. We'll all be so jealous of you next week when you have your little baby!

Just had my jags - WC and flu. Was saying to the nurse that I was in the batch of ladies who had to decide about swine flu (a much more difficult decision for me at the time, I cried at work after having my jag! - everything fine though!). Anyway, the nurse said the WC was a 'no-brainer' and was very pleased I'd come in. Talked about the recent surge in WC cases. So I left feeling that I'd done a good thing (although I was pretty sure about it before I went in). I know what it's like to worry about vaccinations in pregnancy though. I suppose being through the swine flu thing, this decision seemed a lot easier!

NervousAt20 · 08/10/2012 16:15

dixie the bag is a very good size and ill be able to easily fit in everything ill need and there's lots of pockets and space for my things too. I'm very happy with it

NervousAt20 · 08/10/2012 16:22

GT hope your okay! Are you okay with being induced or just upset that its happening so soon? I'm sure once you've got your LO in your arms you'll be very happy Smile x

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 08/10/2012 16:22

georgee that's a good point about the swine flue jag. I was pregnant during that the outbreaks of 2009 and offered and subsequently declined the jag yet would have no qualms regarding the WC one if it's available in my area.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/10/2012 16:34

I just want to add here that when my DD1 was three weeks old she caught a chest infection and had to have antibiotics. The antibiotics damaged here stomach and she ended up with a lactose intolerance and horrific eczema. When I weaned back of goats milk onto dairy as advised aged 2 she got a blockage in her stomach called an ileos and was blue lighted to hospital and ITU. Back off dairy onto soya. She built up a resistance to soya, another hospital stay. No she has rice milk and a little dairy, but if she has cows milk she gets the most horrific constipation.

As a result of this I wold do anything to prevent my children going through her experience. I didn't tink about it until I was sat at the nurses and decided I had probably made the right decision.

mm it was the thalidomide thing that crept into my head too, it I reason that this baby is pretty much cooked. Grin

YellowWellies · 08/10/2012 16:42

Sophia - very good point, seeing the struggles of medicating my wee niece and how difficult it can be to treat any serious illness in newborns (and how likely they are to suffer side effects) let alone a prem that makes me glad I got the jag.

Oh wow GT I think I'd be feeling the exact same as you. It's still not hit me that I'm going to be a Mum. Any date feels too soon - let alone to have your due date brought forward from the one you've gotten used to for all of these months. Am sure you'll be amazing though xx

horseylady · 08/10/2012 16:43

No vq more why there is a resistance amongst some people who are of the thought that pregnant women should be given as little treatment as possible wrt antibiotics/vaccinations etc.

Was interesting but she was saying go with doh advice, she would and that was that. It more than 4 years ago pregnant women were vaccinated against nothing, now a few things. Plus she said if I had another in two years, she would expects that I would be advised to have another jab, which is where the uncertainty seems to come from.

As I said and she said, othe countries have been doing it for years, all is ok there so there's no need to ESP worry. Think it's just lots of changes in a small space of time. Guess the same goes for you can and can't eat. That changes too!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/10/2012 16:53

I was also preg during the swine flu outbreak in 2009 but wasn't offered a jab or anything, mw didn't mention it at all so I didn't know about it.

I've got my flu jab this sat and ill ask about the WC jab then.

MissMummy1 · 08/10/2012 16:57

I'm making a list of meals I want to batch cook to freeze before junior's arrival so we can do a massive tesco online shop in the next week or two. So far I have:

Lasagne
Chicken pie
Fish pie
Shepherd's pie
Chilli con carne (minus the rice obv!)
Chicken curry
Lamb casserole
Tuna pasta bake

I've run out of ideas so any other suggestions much appreciated - neither of us are particularly fussy eaters. Also silly question (and I'm sure DH will keep me right as he's a much better cook than me!) which of these meals would you freeze cooked and which uncooked? ie would you cook the meat and sauces for lasagne and make it up then freeze it or would you bake it as well and then freeze? Sorry hope that makes sense. I've done a freezer audit today and attempting to fill it with healthy homecooked meals for post November when neither of us will be in a place to cook (as opposed to ready meals and convenience food that would probably be the much easier option!).

ShellyBobbs · 08/10/2012 17:02

GT It is an emotional time, the very first time I cried during my first pregnancy was walking along the corridor in the labour ward. I heard a newborn cry, I turned to my hubby and said 'OMG, I'm pregnant', he looked at me like I was a raving lunatic and said, 'not just that love, it'll be here soon!'. You'll be fine, honestly. Come on here for a good moan, whinge, cry, whatever you need, that is exactly what we are here for :)

VQ A stack of muslim cloths Why, what do you call them? I'm all intrigued now :)
