pidj that cake sounds amazing! Just bought myself a cereal bar and really feel short changed now!

MyDaydream · 09/10/2012 15:24

pidj DP doesn't have any dad friends, were the first to take the plunge. His friends are just very sensible and I'm hoping able to pick his ego up a bit.
I'd ask for a heaven pink glitter fairy tale castle cake for my birthday but glitter sends DP into some strange amusing rant! Birthday cakes have got so much more impressive sounding since I was a child.
I was going to come on and ask if everyone thought I had enough clothes but I've just laid them all out on the floor and answered my own question!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 09/10/2012 15:38

pidj you cakes sound amazing would you kindly fed-ex some over here to a heavily pregnant woman who is feeling sorry for herself as she is still in a lot of pain?

Oh and mydaydream DH is the first of his friends and family to have a baby, but as we have my big ones (he's known ds since he was just 3) I think we'll be ok. SIL is due end of feb and keeps telling bil he must 'grow up' when the baby comes Hmm my DH didn't grow up for my dcs I doubt it'll be different for this one. He's a big kid with them and they love it! (he is obv very responsible as is bil)

I got told my bumps moved today, not sure where she thought it'd moved to but i haven't noticed a difference.

Hi all sorry been awol for a few days, combo of stuff but nothing bad.

Ahh what a bugger pidg, try and get someone to help you, I keep over estimating my nrg levels and that sounds far too much.

Jabs - both arms just were a bit sore for a couple of days, then aching wrists, then fine. I had done far too much at same time which I think caused some whooziness rather than the jabs (eg aquanatal morning after jabs on 4 hrs sleep)

queen that made snort out loud! Tell him you can also get love making juice from stroking a dog. Sadly not an approved form of pain relief during labour (ive been offered a grey hound but everyone says no ) ahh your poor dp sounded so mournful bless im! Glad seems to be back on track!

monsterchild · 09/10/2012 15:46

Sorry to interrupt, but can I just have a rant about clothes please?

Nothing fits me! the maternity stuff is way baggy or too tight in the boobs, and my regular clothes (donated by lovely SIL) fit ok, but ride up as are not maternity clothes! I have a professional job, so I cant really wear baggy clothes (though I live in such a laid back area, I probably could). Why does nothing fit? and why do my bobs keep growing? I am 30 weeks this week, and my boobs are still bigger than my belly! Kidlet is measuring just fine, not small (though I'm sure I'd like him that way for the birth).

I am a FTM, but really, it just is so annoying!

I also can't go spending money on clothes to wear for 10 weeks!

Ok, rant over. Thanks!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 09/10/2012 15:56

monster it must be hard when you have to dress a certain way for work. No advice just sympathy from me. I'm lucky I work if I ever manage any from home so as long as I'm comfy nothing else matters.

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 09/10/2012 16:06

There's a pic now on my profile - you might need shades, it's a bit Gypsy Weddings!

Monster check out Matalan and H+M for stretchy yoga trousers - they'll look just like smart ones under a long top! H+M do some nice looking shirts for £15. Otherwise, splash out on Mamas and Papas or Jojo Maman Bebe nursing tops that'll last through. Bear in mind our undercarriages will take a battering (vb or cs) so soft, stretchy clothes will last longer than the pregnancy :)

monsterchild · 09/10/2012 16:29

Pidgin, that's good advice about the post-clothing. I can look into that. As I said, this is my first, so I'm not really thinking about post-pregnancy clothes!

But I thought for sure by now I'd have a cute baby bump, not the belly of a 50 yo ale-loving man!

Equimum · 09/10/2012 16:30

monster the wrap tops from JoJo have been my saving grace. Pop a vest underneath and tie them to fit. I too am finding maternity stuff too big, but by tying these tight under my bump, can also keep trousers in place properly .... And they look smart.

Have also had a jab in each arm today. Feeling okay ATM so hoping it'll all be fine.

MyDaydream · 09/10/2012 16:33

stacey your SIL sounds a bit like my MIL with the grow up advice. I had a big kid step dad and had the best time with him and have some really great memories and in jokes, I'd hate to think my son didn't have that because someone told his dad to grow up.
I noticed my bump changed shape last week, it's a lot rounder rather than fatty and higher up.
monster I feel your pain in both nothing fitting right and not wanting to spend loads on clothes for such little wear. I would second H&M if you've got a biggish one near you.
pidj that cake looks exactly like something that would have made me very happy at 7.

monsterchild · 09/10/2012 16:38

Thanks for all the advice, I will look into those tops! Its very frustrating as when I am fit, clothes don't fit well either, I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but, boo!

BTW, i had the flu and WC jabs 2 weeks ago and nary a complaint. One in each arm and felt just fine.

I'm actually slightly embarressed at how well my pregnancy is going! except for clothign I really have nothing to complain about!

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 16:40

Amazing pidj!

All my over the bump maternity jeans are too small now so I only have one pair (which are under the bump). Will have to get some leggings, New Look are cheapest for these I think.

Just sent DP an emergency text begging him to go and buy me some Ranitadine on his way home.... the Gaviscon isn't touching this bastard heartburn right now I'm in so much pain and dd is being a pita pickle

PrunellaDeVille · 09/10/2012 17:22

monsterchild jersey is the answer and H&M prices mean you can have a temporary wardrobe without breaking the bank. layer up but making sure that waistbands are soft and tops are super long to cover the growing bump.
i would suggest:
skirts i've been living in these - they can sit uder the bump or waistband's soft enough to go around it.
top - this one is ruched at the sides, so excellent over bump
dresses
dressesprobably best to go up a size for dresses to avoid them getting unfeasibly short as you grow!
add in long sleeve plain jersey t shirts, leggings, boots and a jacket and you're all set.
not that i've given it any thought Hmm but i was determined not to let my clothes issues get me down whilst pregnant
HTH

Clarella · 09/10/2012 17:25

Was going to ask if people had started spying 'tops would work for bf' - I'm still liking h and m in the plus size range for both flatteringly floatiness plus some with buttons for feeding, prob not smart for work but liking in pregnancy plus for after. Anyone else developed a severe aversion to jeans? I can't wear anything other than leggings with dress/tunic/long tops and have been this way since about 20 wks. Don't like the pressure on legs nor across any part of tummy. Have to say at least the leggings have grown with me!

Hope the ranitadine nukes it spotty

Fabulous pidgin!

DH refers to braxton hicks as 'boson higgs' bless.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 09/10/2012 17:26

Hello everyone! So tired. This baby is hurting me when she moves to violently, had to spend about half an hour last night on hands and knees to give her more room. Feeling really sorry for myself right now. Please please let her come out 37 weeks on the dot!!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 09/10/2012 17:28

Yy to jean aversion. I wore a pair today and have promised myself this is the last time, pulling them up all the time and having rough denim on the skin is not quite as nice as lovely stretchy clothes. Doesn't help I had to wedge them up over my bum.

MyDaydream · 09/10/2012 17:34

clarella I'm thinking H&M boob tube under my top so pull one up and one down, sorted. I've been wearing them as bump bands and they're very cheap. They also come in quite a large range of colours too.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 17:41

That's a good idea MyDaydream good job it's going to be middle of winter so we'll want to wrap up!

interwebmum · 09/10/2012 17:47

Hello All,
Thanks for the warm welcome! (I just joined up last week).
I hope you are all doing well.

PurplePidjin: I was curious about your cake and just had a look. Yum! It looks amazing. I love all the crochet too. I'm into making stuff too and have been working on some fabric birds to make into a mobile for the bump.
I'm going to start looking for a nice crochet pattern for a baby hat next.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 17:48

Oh interwebmum you just reminded me I don't have any hats yet!

HoneyMum21 · 09/10/2012 17:55

I've been trying to work out bf tops which is hindered somewhat by the fact that i dispise button up shirts which seem to be the most sensible option. I usually live in vests/tops with long cardis over the top so am hoping some kind of improvisation of that will work - i was thinking of getting some of the bf strappy tops that have clips to drop down-has anyone triedthem? at they worth it? New Look seem to do them a lot cheaper than anywhere else.

PurplePidjin · 09/10/2012 18:07

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/arts_and_crafts/1575882-Team-Hooker-Welcome-to-the-Hotel-Crochetfornia

Come over to the dark side, interwebmum :o All the crochet on my profile is (iirc, i can't remember what I've got up at the moment!) for various mn charity projects - let me know if you'd like links to those too.

I'm stocking up on vest tops - i wear them to sleep in anyway - and will be asking for vouchers for my birthday for bfing tops. I'm also keeping an eye out for second hand stuff!

Clarella · 09/10/2012 18:11

Good idea re boob tubes, I got a couple for bumpbands too, only to be relegated to back of drawers when wearing tops n leggings. Me too honey, though I seem to have a few long floaty shirts that might work though the reality of buttons and a wobbly baby does make me think too fiddly. Wrap dresses/ tops sound the way forward...

Clarella · 09/10/2012 18:16

I ordered some bf strappy tops from boots online a couple of weeks ago (I think they were on offer) but had a right old hoo har trying to actually pick them up - had gone awol so they re-ordered them, can report back next week when I get them. I was going down the plan/ route of strappy vests with internal support if strong enough (i have a couple I actually used to train in that might be ok!) Or the bf vest bras (though not really checked prices etc.

FriendofDorothy · 09/10/2012 18:19

I just intend to put my top up and pop baby underneath, or use a giant muslin to preserve some of my dignity. If I limit myself to only wearing clothes that are designed for breastfeeding my baby will be going hungry!
