Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 08/10/2012 21:03

Nope as long as they fit!

FriendofDorothy · 08/10/2012 21:24

OK, is this a pregnancy symptom or should I just book in to see my GP?!!!... since getting pregnant I am definitely dribbling in my sleep a lot more than I did before. It is properly noticeable now and it is getting on my nerves!

FriendofDorothy · 08/10/2012 21:25

I should just add, not wee dribble, mouth dribble!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/10/2012 21:32

Grin I think it's probably due to the pregnancy I dribble when I'm not pregnant though

JoJoB77 · 08/10/2012 21:32

Haha friend you've just made me laugh as its reminded me of yesterday...my DH woke up and proudly showed me the massive dribble stain he'd left on his pillow! Romance isnt dead in our house Wink

Not sure if its a pregnancy symptom tho Confused

Well i'm feeling very peculiar this evening. I dont use that word very often but its the only way i can describe it. Feeling bit dizzy & just generally off Sad. I cant help but think i may have a UTI but never had one before so not sure in the symptoms Confused can anyone tell me what theirs were those of u who've experienced it?

I had traces of protein in my wee last week so waiting on the results. Just feeling a bit bleh.

Stacks · 08/10/2012 22:11

Uti's can show up in all sorts of weird forms.

The most obvious is it being sore when you wee, or feeling like you haven't finished weeing, but can't squeeze any more out. Also sometimes urinating blood... They're the symptoms I've had in the past.

Some people I know also get things like tummy ache, dizziness, vomiting etc. and not necessarily more than one symptom. It can look like flu or a tummy bug Confused maybe call your midwife, or make a doctor appointment if you don't feel better in the morning? Some doctors will give you antibiotics before results are back, just incase.

Hope you start feeling better.

Walnut8 · 09/10/2012 07:20

re UTIs, previously my symptoms have been a vague discomfort or pressure when urinating to full-blown stinging. Thought I had one earlier in pregnancy but turned out just to be the pressure of the baby growing! Do you have a temp at all?

another crap mum here, poor DD. Am trying though, still taking her to her usual dance classes and gym classes although getting quite hard on me now as they involve a lot of up and down and bending and stretching! Am now at the same size as I was at about 34-35 weeks (31 yesterday).

A question (which i'll probably also ask in the pregnancy threads I think!) - has anyone used Mama spanx? I am considering wearing a jersey dress to a wedding coming up in 3 weeks but would like something to smooth down underwear lines and generally lumpiness - not the baby bump but elsewhere if you get my drift. I don't want it at all tight over my bump.

EggsMichelle · 09/10/2012 08:00

I could have done with mama spanx, didn't know they existed! I presume they rearrange the love handles without the belly squash?

I am a chronic night dribbler, I put it down to my mouth breathing. Have you noticed sinus congestion? Cause my dribbling has been worse lately with added sinus pain. Can we take Kwells? We prescribe it for the hyper salivation side affects of antipsychotics (magic multi purpose drug!)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 09/10/2012 08:01

Jojo I had a Uti at the beginning of this pregnancy with no symptoms do its worth getting them to do a urine test of you think its a possibility.

I had a shit nights sleep and my ear feels worse than it did yest. Hmm I hope these antibiotics kick in soon. The pain I can Kinda cope with but feeling like my ear is blocked with water and there's nothing I can do 24/7 is awful!

Hi all,
A few days of lost phone charger & trying to conserve battery, & now I return to thread abit lost & behind the times!!
I believe a few people had grumpiness with/from OHs at the weekend. They sound very annoying and need to be reminded of how flipping difficult this all is. Even going upstairs makes me feel like Ranulph Fiennes!

I'm off for jabs (flu & WC) today. Any side effects to look out for?

Meant to give an update to those who kindly offered me Brew & sympathy after my annoying husband upset me at first NCT class:

The following evening he returned home with lovely flowers he had picked himself stolen from PIL's garden which did make me feel abit better.
Still, I took your advice and said that I understood it was a big thing for him etc etc but that I really didn't want to spend next 2 months listening to him moan about how scared he was & then the crucial moment him passing out everywhere & feeling sorry for himself. If we need to get a doula, let's organise it now.

He looked [shocked] and Sad and said he really wanted to be there & to support me & would stay at head end & wouldn't moan or keep checking eBay for timed auctions at critical moments .
Then he said:
"I want some of the love making juices too"

WTF????? Confused

He elaborated: "you know with the hot chest and things"

Ok, I then understood. The NCT lady said that after giving birth the mother often gets a hot chest to keep the baby warm, and rush of oxytocin which helps her fall in love with the LO. Bizarrely other people in room get similar symptoms, including other halves.
I suggested he probably shouldn't call oxytocin 'love making juice' in the next class...
Grin

MaMaPo · 09/10/2012 08:17

Queen, that's classic.

Last night's NCT class on pain management was good - very balanced, and more than I expected. The teacher was quite fair talking through all the options (no short shrift to epidural) and effectively said 'The birth is one tiny blip in the whole experience of being a parent. The ultimate outcome is to have a healthy and happy mother and baby and it doesn't matter how you end up there.' I was dreading a 'breathe yourself through labour' kind of message but it wasn't that at all. Am now thinking about using the birthing pool, which I hadn't before.

Re: Christmas - I am hoping it isn't too hectic. The parents in law will be arriving from Aus the day after my due date (16th), and then more of my husband's family is coming from Europe just before Christmas. Plan is to have Christmas Eve dinner (the traditional northern European day to celebrate) in one of the big London hotels, and then Christmas Day lunch will be in our little flat, except all the planning and cooking will be done by the others. Only thing is me wondering how well I manage being out at a fancy hotel- and how well the hotel manages with a newborn in the house! Worst comes to worst I stay home, or leave early. If it comes off OK it would be lovely.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 08:51

I'm so tired this morning I feel like I actually can't function!

Barbeasty · 09/10/2012 08:59

Queen definitely a sore arm. 21 hours on and mine hurts! I just had the whooping cough one yesterday. I wasn't feeling fantastic yesterday before I went, but been a bit "fluey" since. But so has DH, so could be coincidental (blaming DD who seems to have another cold).

Loving the love juice. Glad your DH is playing ball.

Our Christmas plans are to have MIL, SIL and maybe BIL over on the day. If I feel like it I'll cook, otherwise DH will and the guests will make sure he cooks some veg too.

It saves us going anywhere and they can all walk back to MIL's after they wash up.

Normally I go to a meal at my Dad's on Christmas eve, but think I might have to miss it this year.

MyDaydream · 09/10/2012 10:32

queen that's great, it's totally the kind of thing I'd say without thinking.

My DP is really down at the minute and keeps telling people he's not excited about baby because he's so scared he's going to let everyone down. I can't get it through to him that all that matters is that he's around and involved in family life. He won't stop going on about big houses and nice things and is putting himself under so much pressure to provide when it doesn't matter. He works in an unstable job but which pays well because of this, but when people lost their jobs last week he didn't because they liked his work ethic and went out of their way to find him something so they could keep him on. Nothing I say gets through to him or comforts him and I have a suspicion MIL has something to do with this attitude but I obviously can't prove it but I feel so bad for him and really worried he's going to burn himself out. I just feel really useless.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 12:53

WC vaccine booked for Thursday. I received a letter from my GP this morning inviting me to have it. Have been washing baby clothes and bedding today :)

MyDaydream sorry your DP is feeling like that I really don't have any words of wisdom I'm afraid, I'm sure someone will have some good advice though.

Too excited for Christmas, just been looking at Cook's Christmas meals, as it'll just be the three of us actually eating and dd is only two I think it might be the way forward!

Secondsop · 09/10/2012 13:04

queen the "love making juice" thing literally made me laugh out loud. It's the kind of thing my husband would say. He's just read the Markus Berkmann book about fatherhood so lord only knows what ideas he's got now.

My back pain seems to be getting more manageable so I'm hoping to be back at work soon. I keep losing weight (another 2 kilos down in the last 3 weeks or so, possibly due in part from eating a better diet after the gestational diabetes diagnosis) but I was so big to begin with that nobody seems worried about it. I'm wondering if that's also helping with the back business. I'm 6 kilos down from the start of the pregnancy and 2 kilos down from booking appointment at 12 weeks - I put on a couple of kilos but have then lost those again. So long as baby is fine, and he seems to be growing fine, I appear to be looking at the prospect of being lighter after birth than before the pregnancy. I really need to get down to a healthy weight to try to avoid so many complications in any further pregnancies and I've had a big diabetes wake-up call, so I hopefully will be in a good position to really improve my health in future.

PurplePidjin · 09/10/2012 13:18

Sobbing sofa please. I've got back ache so made a hot water bottle and managed to pour boiling water all over my hand. Mate was meant to come over and help me take stuff to the tip (carpet people start tomorrow) but is fitting so can't leave his house so i also, somehow, have to find the energy to rip up the spare room carpet and vacuum/scrub the kitchen, hall, stairs, landing and bedroom. By 9am tomorrow. Fuck.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 13:24

Oh Pidj what time is dp back? Hope your hand is OK. It's going to be a stressful 24 hours but will be worth it when you have a lovely carpet down!

Secondsop you have a great attitude and you're right that as long as your baby is gaining weight well that's the important thing :)

Craving lemon drizzle cake Sad or any cake really...

Secondsop · 09/10/2012 13:29

Oh pidj is there anyone else who can help you?

PurplePidjin · 09/10/2012 13:31

Choc orange or swiss roll? I'm drowning in the stuff after dn's birthday on sunday!

Dp will be back around half 5. It's mostly hormones that have set me off, just need to ride it out for a while. This too shall pass!

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 13:38

Oooo chocolate orange please!!

PurplePidjin · 09/10/2012 13:46

Watch out for pink icing, edible gllitter, white jazzies and dolly mixtures Wink

Not to mention the witch, wolf, dragon, red riding hood, frog prince, rapunzel's hair and pumpkin coach...

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2012 14:01

Wow! Sounds amazing! Not helping with my craving though Hmm

Just got dd a boy doll, buggy, bath set and nursery rhyme sing along from ELC all for under £35 so that's just her stocking left to do now! Must. Not. Buy. More.

MyDaydream · 09/10/2012 14:11

spotty I just want to shake him to make him see what I can. He's staying out for a boys night tonight so hopefully they'll talk some sense into him and cheer him up.
seconds sounds like you've got the right idea and attitude, I'm definitely thinking about getting fitter and stronger to benefit me in future pregnancies.
pidj hope you get everything sorted and your hand isn't too burnt. Those cakes sound ace, I love jazzies and glitter icing!

PurplePidjin · 09/10/2012 14:35

Daydream, dp has had a couple of changes of opinion regarding parenting after speaking to friends who are already parents. Most notably, his disgust when i asked if he'd be sampling the gas and air (we're both very anti recreational drug taking) - he soon changed his tune when a very sensible mate described it as "Dad's perks"

I'll see if i can get a pic from bookface to my profile of the 7yo Heaven Pink Glitter Sparkle Fairytale Castle Cake :o
