Thought I would start the thread.

HC Sorry that our MIL is like that. I guess theres not much you can do apart from telling DH to stick up fo you. My Mil is ok but has her odd ways. She was against me bfing and was determined with DD that she would be dressed in pink frilly dresses. Soon put a stop to all that and I just used to ignore her comments.

The kicks argetting a lot stronger now. They are still fairly low down and sometimes in my bladder.

Im glad im not the only one breaking wind like a trooper. Im almost afraid to bend over in work Blush

Im hoping to go back to work 3 1/2 possibly 4 days a week. Im going to put DD in nursery 2/3 mornings but mil will have both the rest of the time. Id love to do less but when I work out how much id lose its shocking and weve just extended our morgage for the extension. The other option ive got is to work in the call centre and do shifts but I dont fancy the weekend shifts. Im too frightened to tell my mnagaer yet.

Hi all, have been offline for a couple of days. We are moving bedrooms around to make way for LO. I have had to put flat-pack furniture together - we needed a new chest of drawers in our room. We still have bought no baby furniture, but have chosen the items we want, and found we can save £70+ on the Mamas and Papas cotbed we want if we order online from Glasgow Pramcentre. Also, they don't charge for delivery, and you can pay the bill in installments and arrange a delivery date closer to the baby's due date. I am going to have the stuff all delivered end of June.

Straightforward and Aggiepanther - thanks for the babysitting advice. I have had babysitting offers from a couple of girls we know, so at least I will have some starting ideas before negotiating a rate.

Kayzed and Maewest - Do either of your DPs work in computers? Mine is a computer nerd, and is alway coming home with de-commisioned bits of equipment which he thinks he can fix up and sell on ebay?! I am afraid if it doesn't get listed soon, I am going to load up the car and take it to the tip myself. I can't think of a clever way to get him to do it without noticing, Kayzed (unless I try hypnotism). Then I too will be the old witch!

Hi Everyone

Well it's definately April here in the Midlands. It's throwing it down with rain Sad. Dropping my DS of at the cinema this afternoon for his first big trip out without me or DH. He's getting the bus home on his own after. Don't know why I'm nervous as he catches 2 buses to school everyday at 7am on his own!!!!

Bumpy - My Ds is 11, he'll be 12 on 23 Jun. This will be his third year being a ballboy at Nottingham but he's done loads of other tennis events (Wheelchair, Junior Nationals, Challenger) about 15 in total from the age of 9. When he was 10 he ran a court (made sure everyone was where they should be, doing what they should, etc) and got to meet the Lord Mayor. He's met loads of famous players inc Andy Roddick, Greg Rudeski, Peter Norfolk (won gold at Athens ParaOlympics), plus many more. It's great for me to to get to chat with these guys. It's a very informal event and the players walk around. Got to know lots of the American players last year, hot flushes, Blush. DH thinks it's funny watching me and the other Mums having a bit of a drool. Well they've got gorgeous bums and legs. Will stop now as I need a lie down Grin.

IamBlossom · 11/04/2006 12:53

Hey everyone, on a blissful week off this week, and am busier than when i am "working"! Got DS at home with me in the mornings and drop him in nursery for the afternoons, but instead of kipping and chilling, have been visiting friends and out with my sister etc. Knackered!

Have made a decision re leaving date from work - can't deal with this total lack of motivation and interest in the job, especially as i am not going back so have decided to move everything forward a month and leave at the end of May, taking my four weeks holiday in June and starting maternity leave beginning of July instead of at the end. Someone told me I had to give 28 days notice of my desired leaving date to work but that when I leave is up to me as long as it is within 3 months of your EDD, does anyone else know if that is true? I assume work will agree, and it will hopefully mean they pull their finger out re getting my replacement, but if all works out I could be leaving a month earlier, HURRAY!!! DH agreed, saying what's 4 weeks in the grand scheme of things.........

Spub, LOL at your bumhole speciality comment Grin

Got my day at Champneys tomorrow, SO EXCITED!

Right girlfriends are here for lunch, moustache (geddit?), lots of lvoe to all.
Blossom

xx

MummyZena · 11/04/2006 13:42

Spud I am having an elective c section this time after an emergency last time, the real thing does not work so have to use the sun roof!! At least I know the date and can plan around that, recovery takes longer but I intend to take the offers of help from friends and family and will just have to go with the flow.

Iamblossom you can start your mat leave anytime during your last 11 weeks, and yes you need to give 28 days notice.

Anyway take care all

Hi guys - just a quicky to say I'll be off on hols (alleluia!!) from now until next Friday, so hope you all have a good Easter etc and I'm looking forward to catching up when I get back.

Oh and Jersey - nappies received safe and sound this morning - thanks!

jersey · 11/04/2006 15:22

Thanks Straightforward that was quick for the postal service!!! Shock.

So envious Envy Iamblossam, I'm having work almost till the last minute and then back 4 days a week.

maewest · 11/04/2006 18:34

We're in the process for recruiting my replacement at the moment (ads go out this week) and I'm planning to leave at the end of June, so hopefully some kind of handover will be poss depending on who we get. I'm also meeting with our Finance Manager tomorrow to discuss my mat leave arrangements and 'formally' tell them that I'm pregnant (altho the waddle and constant trips to the loo are a bit of a give away even if I hadn't told them months ago Grin).

Chat2Ali - nope, my DH doesn't even have the excuse of being a professional computer geek, he's an aeronautical engineer tho so does spend a lot of time on computer, writing code etc. The nerd thing is mainly just a hobby :). Although as my mum pointed out, stripping down a PC in the living room is a lot cleaner than doing the same thing with a motorbike!

I think one of the main reasons DH is excited about having a child is the excuse to play with lego Wink

kbaby · 11/04/2006 20:28

DD will be 2.2 months when the babies here. She hates going in her buggy and walks quite far but when your in a shop with her shes a nightmare and runs off. Hence I need a buggy just to keep control of her. Im getting a m&p pramette for when I just have the baby. Im tempted by the buggypods and then I could just attach it to the side when needed.
HC im also getting stressed over silly things. Last night I was up from 1am to 5.30 wondering a)what dounble buggy to get, if any and also do I really need the pramette b)what do I need for our hols c)what things do I need to get for the kitchen and when are the builders going to be finshed.

Weve got the kitchen fitters coming on tuesday but the builders still havent installed the lights, skirting boards or finished plastering. Then once theyve done that they have to finish outside ie guttering etc. They are really strating to pee me off as they started in dec and I wanted to get a patio laid outside and sort the garden out before the summer came.
Sorry for the moan

Evening girls...

Blossom you sound so happy and chilled out! I'd love to finish four weeks early... and like kbaby am dead Envy!

Kbaby I am going to attempt to work right up to one week before. I know I prob wont manage it but i want to keep mymat leave for as long as poss after. Work are placing bets on whether my waters will break in work!!! Am already feeling cumbersome and knackered so god knows what it'll be like in eleven weeks when I'm heaving myself up to the desk!!! I am also planning on dropping a day, funds permitting but have been advised to not 'officially ' make my decision public knowledge until I'm off so pay doesnt get affected... or something.... I'm not very clued up on stuff like that!

Maewest, LOL at formally 'telling' work your pregnant!!! I've been huffing my way around the office for ages now tellign any bugger who'll listen about anything remotely baby related!!!

Puddy... how fab for your DS to be able to meet the stars.. what a brill experience (for him and you!) Maybe all being well you could use your bump this year to your advantage to get priority treatment!!! Grin

Wallace.. our daffs have been out since FEB!!! What on earth have you been doing to yours!!! Grin!!!

puddytat99 · 11/04/2006 21:31

Hi Everyone

Off to the hospital tomorrow morning for 8am. I've got my GTT, so having to starve from now on. Will let you all know how things go.

My DH doesn't work in computers but still pulls things apart to see how they work. When he was a child, he did it with his radio. He's a science freak, so what else do I expect Grin. I completely switch off when he's trying to explain anything to me. Not technically minded at all. I can just about figure out how to watch a DVD, never record on the machine.

Off to bed now. Chat with you all tomorrow.

Chat2Ali · 11/04/2006 22:02

Hehehe Puddytat. My DH thinks he is quite technical too. Whenever I am having trouble sleeping I ask him a technical question. Most successful at helping me fall asleep have been: How do fridges get cold? How does the vacuum cleaner work, and What is a black hole?

Chat2Ali · 11/04/2006 22:23

I really signed on here to have a bit of a rant.
My second MW appt was today - other than the MW just being a few minutes behind that was mostly all OK.
BUT when it was over, I got really wound up when I returned to my car to find a parking warden writing me out a ticket Angry. I was parked right next to the pay and display machine, but it wasn't working. When I told this to the parking warden she said I should have gone to the next street to get a ticket, so I tried to pull the pregnancy card, and calmly told her that I am 6 mo. preg, (does this month count as 6?), I had just been to see my MW, and there was NO way I was walking out of my way for blocks around the neighbourhood looking for another machine that might or might not be working! Needless to say, she still stuck the blinking ticket on my windscreen. Curse her, the heartless cow.

I have just finished writing an appeal letter to the Borough, but had to use a polite and professional tone, so this rant feels good. Sorry to all for going on so long.

AggiePanther · 11/04/2006 22:28

Good luck tomorrow puddy tat.
have a nice time at champneys blossom and on holiday SF ..the rest of you I hope you have a wonderful Easter with as much chocolate as you desire :)
I'm well again so I'm off to Sevilla en la manana and won't be back till the 22nd..Hurrah!!!
GrinFeliz Pascua !!! Grin

Hi Everyone

Ali - What a cow Angry. As for DH questions, my DH's favourite is Why the sky is blue?

Aggie - Have a great time in Serville.

Kayzed - You could always ring your mw and see what they suggest. Let us know how you do.

Not long back from GTT appt. What a long morning. Got there for just after 8am and left just after 11am. Back next Friday to see consultant about results. Half way through had to have a lie down as I went dizzy and felt really sick. Didn't help those that didn't need the full test were given something to eat and drink in front of us that had to wait for full test. Torture or what!!!

Off to London for the day tomorrow. Will be DS' first visit, so he's really excited. Going to do the Tower and then see how I feel, weather is, etc for the rest of the day.

Morning ladies

Envy Aggie-absolutely desperate to see Espana again. Have a lovely time. ((xx))

Well, to add to my stress I fell asleep on Monday afternoon (bad mother) and when I woke up only 1/2 hour later DD had found my sewing scissors and completely cut up my cross stitch pattern and ripped all the threads off the numbered cardboard. I was furious with her. Spent 2 hours taping the pattern back as lots of pieces were only 1cm diameter but then had to go out. Have tried to match the threads up to the numbers as best as possible. When DH came home later he helped finish the 'jigsaw'-bless.

Chat2Ali-your traffic warden obviously had targets to meet-ggggrrrrhhhh!!! ((xx))

I have been to the midwife this morning and was finally measured-hurrah! 28 cm which is just above the 50th centile-oo-er! I said I hoped she wasn't going to be bigger than DD at 6lb 11oz and the midwife said subsequent babies tend to get bigger-ouch! She never listened to the heartbeat. Not seeing her again until 25th May.

Really hoping DH will start the nursery this weekend.

Am so hot all the time so went to Matalan and bought 2 marvellous gypsy style tops at £6 each-bliss and they have loads of room as they fit under my boobs (or boogies as DD calls them) and the material flares right out.

kayzed-glad all is OK with the cheese but how on earth can you eat something so yuk as feta and goats cheese Grin. ((xx))

Cleaned all the downstairs windows inside on Tuesday but too exhausted to do upstairs. I think I only clean like this when PG-must be some sort of nesting instinct. Even looking at cleaning the fascias!

Just under 7 weeks to go at work-yippee!

Must go, hope you all have a lovely day.

((xx))

jersey · 13/04/2006 10:43

HC 7 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!! Envy....

I haven't dare do my embroidery or lacemaking since Joseph has been walking as I don't think they would survive.

Still have an animal alphabet on the go which I started when preg last time Blush!! Was supposed to go in the nursery for DS, think this one will be a teenager before I get it finished at this rate.

We moved into DS room this week so decorating our old room for him and the new baby this weekend after all the visiting. Just don't tell my physio as I was told not to decorate! Well someone has to do it or it won't get done Grin.
