Morning :(

I'm wondering what on earth is happening to me. After being awake at 0430 yesterday, I was beyond exhausted by the time I finished work at 9.30pm last night. In fact I was so tired that I was in danger of falling asleep in both work and driving home. I was scared at how tired I was. My sciatic nerve was on it's last one also Grin but :( owww! I limped and whinged my way around work yesterday and it was just a damn good job it wasn't busy.

So I went straight to bed when I got home. No choice really, was so tired. Woke at 1, and again at 430 and now can't get back to sleep and it definitely isn't DP's fault this time as he is on the sofa (yippeee!).

Hmpf. Not impressed. Am in work again this aftenoon. If I haven't had any more sleep by 10am, I'm ringing to cancel the shift. I can't do a repeat of yesterday. It isn't fair on anyone.

I've got loads to say, but as I'm on my phone I CBA typing it all so will post later!

Thank you Thereistheball for the update on your boys! They sound like they are doing very well! I bet it won't be 6 weeks before they're home with you!! :) xxx

Catbag · 03/10/2012 06:03

Hope you manage to get some sleep Detective :(

TheDetective · 03/10/2012 06:09

DPs alarm just went off :( and by the time he is ready for work DS will be up and getting ready for school and then I'll have to do the school run.

Goodbye sleep....!!

Catbag · 03/10/2012 06:16

Oh noes! Is there anyway you could have a nap once you've done the school run?

TheDetective · 03/10/2012 06:49

Possibly :/ but the problem is I'm crap at actual naps. Everyone knows if I go to sleep for a nap, it's 4 hours minimum Grin.

Although I might be able to squeeze 3 hours in. If I drop DS at school early

Catbag · 03/10/2012 07:00

Lol! 2 hours seems to be both my minimum and maximum. That's why I get crabby when it gets to 1:30 in the afternoon and visitors just WON'T LEAVE. Means there's no way of napping without abandoning the DDs and not picking them up from school. Def sounds like you should give it a go though- you sound worryingly tired :/

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/10/2012 07:06

Had a crap night here too, ds came strolling into our room at 11:40 and fell asleep in our bed. Trip to the loo for me.
Dh had to get up at half 5 for work so I got no sleep from that point on, another loo trip for me.
I gave up at half 6 and made a cuppa only for ds to come crying out the room wondering where we'd all gone.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 03/10/2012 07:33

gt & yw I had the JoJo cardi for DS last winter and loved it so much I got another one a size up, in the sale, which I forgot about and happily discovered yesterday when I was gutting his room top make wAy for baby stuff.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 03/10/2012 07:44

Count me in the crappy night club, DS bad dream at 04:00 and I was awake from then with BH, sore hips and really painful left leg in particular. I have got everyone ready for the day, told DH to take the car and thus be responsible for child drop offs and pick ups, and come back to bed.

Another hours sleep would probably do the trick and I may see if I can get myself slotted in to have my rubbishy looking toenails (because all the children stand on my feet all the time, in flips flops, all summer and I have ended up with a really badly broken big toe nail) tidied up.

Crappy night here too, been awake since the erly hours with my mind racing.
Had my lemon glucose drink, it was not quite as foul as I thought it would be so just got to get the bloods done and then play the waiting game.

blonderthanred · 03/10/2012 08:12

Good luck Shanelle. Let us know how you get on. That two hours after the glucose drink is very tedious and the baby goes loopy with excitement so I found it hard to sit still.

I'm going to buck the trend and say for the first time in ages I did not wake up at 4.30am, in fact I only woke up briefly at 1am for the loo and then dropped off again till 7 - best night's sleep in ages and much needed after the last few days of cold/cough misery.

Catbag · 03/10/2012 08:13

At least someone's getting some sleep blonder! Well done you!

StuntNun · 03/10/2012 08:22

No sleep dep for me, I slept for 12 hours last night and I just want to go back to bed. I thought I might be dehydrated because I was so thirsty, dizzy, nauseous and tired. But I drank eight glasses of water, one apple juice and one milk and I still feel terrible. I just hope I have enough energy to drive the boys to school then I think I'll have to go back to bed.

What is it about the 4am slot, ladies?!!!

I'm now on the laptop, sat here, cooking cabbage... I did want a full roast dinner, but settled for cabbage instead Confused weird pregnant woman.

Shanelle, try not to worry. I have seen many women with glucose in urine before now, and it has NOT lead to gestational diabetes. Yes, it is one of the predictors, and I would have the GTT, as you are. It isn't a forgone conclusion by any means though. Did the midwife run through what you had eaten, as many sugary foods, fruit juices etc can give glycosuria. When you get the results, PM me, and i'll give you some links to groups/organisations to access advice/research so you can make an informed choice about your labour and birth :)

DS has just come down to me while I was typing the above and asked can he borrow DP's deodorant as yesterday afternoon he apparently 'stank' when he smelt his own armpits (mmmm!) Oh dear... my little boy may be growing up?!

Yesterday while I was in work, chatting to a friend and colleague talk once again turned to my pregnancy (midwives... just can't help themselves!) and my friend was horrified when I told her about the estimated weight of baby, and how I have felt this baby has been small all the way through, but have not been listened to by community midwives. She insisted on palpating and measuring me, and was shocked at how little baby does feel. She measured - and got the same as I get when I measure, which is 32cm at 35+4. Baby is nowhere near pelvis either, so definitely not to do with head engaging.

She insisted on ringing clinic Hmm and after much fussing on her part, got hold of one of the consultants, who came and did a quick scan on the portable scanner, and said baby is smaller, but normal, but liquor volume is slightly reduced. She couldn't get exact measurements due to the machine used, but recommended I go for a proper scan today. It is nice to know my colleagues care, but I feel silly and like I'm making some kind of fuss. It won't change anything at the moment, so long as baby continues to grow, then that is normal. It is just good to be alert to I suppose incase growth tails off. It does mean that my plans go completely out the window though - I'm not crazy enough to labour at home with a potentially compromised baby. It also may mean agreeing to induction if the baby stops growing. Feck.

Iheartpasties · 03/10/2012 08:52

Fingers crossed for you shanelle, and thedetective its good that you're getting a scan.

applepieinthesky · 03/10/2012 09:04

I had a crap night's sleep as well. I must have woken up a dozen times and could feel the baby kicking away each time. Then finally got woken at 7 by the dog.

gardenpixies32 · 03/10/2012 09:05

Hi everyone,

Apologies in advance as I have not read any threads since Thursday evening. Congratulations to any new babies and I hope everyone is well.

I had my daughters on Saturday evening, very unexpectedly! Both girls doing very well. Went in for a routine scan on Friday morning to discover twin 1 had lost her fluid. They admitted me in straight away and monitored the babies heart rates. Babies were doing well but they planned a section for 10am on Sunday as one baby was transverse and one breech. At 4pm on Saturday I started getting contractions and they whipped them out by section at 6pm, they were 34+5.

Georgina born at 6.06pm weighing 5.7 and Megan born at 6.08pm weighing 6.1. They were big for twins and luckily I had both steroid injections in time to help their lungs develop. Neither needed help with breathing. They spent 2 nights in the NICU with a feeding tube, glucose drip and they needed antibiotics. Since then they have been moved to a nursery for monitoring and only have their feed tubes in now. Both have tried breast feeding and have latched on but they fall asleep very quickly. The hospital are going to offer us transitional care soon and then I can bring them home.

VQ, you were right. The love you have for them is mind blowing!

Iheartpasties · 03/10/2012 09:05

I'm off to see my pram in a minute, fingers crossed it nice as it would be a total bargain if it is!! Also we seem to have only been charged $150 for our car seat when it should have been $250 - the money is still 'pending' but it has been delivered so we'll see how it turns out!!

gardenpixies32 · 03/10/2012 09:07

Oh and am dairy cow. My milk came in at day 3 and I managed to hand express colostrum on the Sunday. Have quite a bit of milk and the NICU have given me a Ameda double breast pump and it feels like it is permanently attached to me!

ValiumQueen · 03/10/2012 09:17

Wow garden congratulations! Beautiful names and good weights. So encouraging to hear they are doing so well. How are you doing? Please take every opportunity to rest as you have had a big op, and it must have been a tad scary at times.

ValiumQueen · 03/10/2012 09:18

Well done for pumping too. Not nice being a dairy cow, but every drop will do them the world of good, and also make you feel as if you have a bit of control too.

MissMummy1 · 03/10/2012 09:26

Wow congrats garden !! Lovely lovely names and fabby weights. Great to hear you're all doing well! I wonder how many more surprise appearances we'll have before the end of this thread? All the very best to you though - see you on the baby thread (knowing my luck in 2 months time given I'm not due till 29th nov. Hmmph.)

Good luck shannelle. I had +++ at one mw appointment and convinced myself it was gd. Turns out fresh orange juice and sugary cerials weren't the best breakfast to have before taking a wee sample Blush. It's scary at the time but fc your bloods come back fine too!

Another crap night sleep. I spent the whole night switching between our room and the spare room in search of a comfy bed (memory foam vs soft mattress). Neither helped. At least the loo is in between both rooms!!

Oh and the lovely other midwife I had yesterday gave me a new pee pot Grin. I like her a lot!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 03/10/2012 09:27

garden that is lovely news, well done and they are both doing so well, as are you by the sounds of it. Wel do you.

Xx

Sophiathesnowfairy · 03/10/2012 09:30

Well done on your pee pot mm I have taken to asking for one at reception every time I go as I refuse to by one but I keep forgetting to ask after the appointment for one I can take home!
