little well done! Do not take no for an answer!

blonderthanred · 02/10/2012 17:31

Wow how lovely to hear that your babies are doing well thereis and I wish you all the best.

Thank you VQ, I have been reading the threads on the nappies forum which have been useful and have gone ahead with the order.

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/10/2012 17:51

thereis thanks for checking back in with us, your boys sound amazing they're doing so well.

kissyfur · 02/10/2012 17:55

Thanks for letting us know how you and your baby boys are doing thereis wishing you all the best, hope they continue to improve and are home with you and your family very soon. Smile

YellowWellies · 02/10/2012 18:06

Thanks dixie for pointing out that lovely Gap knitted babygrow and to pasties for pointing out the sleeping suit on Ebay. I've bought both so Junior has at least one thing new. I also couldn't resist this kitsch jumper. Moo Cow! The poor wee soul is definitely going to be dressed in 70s, and I use the term loosely, 'chic' (I blame the influence of my own baby photos). I figure with my Mum passing away this wee one might be short of embarrassing 'gran' knitwear - no longer Grin

Gawd am getting lots of hiccups today....

horseylady · 02/10/2012 19:45

Obviously a lively day for the baby today!! He's going crazy!!!

kirrinIsland · 02/10/2012 20:22

YW that jumper is fab Grin

Evilwater · 02/10/2012 20:32

Hi everyone,
What a day, MIl fell over and broke her arm, I went swimming and felt fab. Had backstop hicks for most of the afternoon, and a couple this evening. I've found one of those heat pack you place in the microwave. Best thing ever as it is dull in the pain.

Evil

Passmethecrisps · 02/10/2012 20:34

I love that jumper YW. I saw one with an owl on which I thought was awesome.

Hi thereis and thanks for sharing your experience. I hope that things get easier for you soon.

The WC jags seem to be causing massive concern. I called my GP today and spoke to a receptionist. I mentioned the flu jag as well so she made a telephone appointment for me for tomorrow. She seemed to have a fair idea what I was talking about so fingers crossed. I have always been very happy with my clinic so here's hoping they keep up the good work.

We were woken at 5am this morning by the telephone. I don't know about you all but whenever the phone rings at that sort of time my first thought is of my parents. The phone rang for 2 rings then hung off. It'll have been a mistake but it cost me over an hour of sleep as I never did get back to sleep. I feel a total ruin today.

MM have you taken a look at Little Lambs nappies. If you follow hen on Facebook you get access to offers. At the moment they have 8 one size nappies for £32. I got mine today and they look great. I now have 8 one size ones and 10 size 2's I think they are. The size 2's need wraps as well. That is all I am going to buy even if my head is continually turned by the lovely patterns and colours available with much more expensive ones.

I have a wee question about baths. A lovely friend have us a bath rest thing. The kind that sits on the bottom of the big bath with suckers. My friend said not to use it straight away but to wait until baby was about 2 months old. Why can't I use it straight away? What do I use if not that?

Honestly, every time I feel a little more sorted something else comes along and I feel like a total numpty again

Passmethecrisps · 02/10/2012 20:36

Sorry to hear about your MIL evil. The microwave thingies are good.

Is it too early for bed?

Evilwater · 02/10/2012 20:42

Pass I'm watching the backing programme.

As for the baby grows, my mum made me one in mint green! It's very cute. I'll try and but a pic on Facebook.

The jumper is cute too, but not my thing.

As for nappies I'm going for disposables, so I can't help with your choice.

Evil.

Passmethecrisps · 02/10/2012 20:55

Ooooi I love a bit of Bake Off. I like to save it until later in the week and watch it on iPlayer.

This week's focus at yoga was pelvic floor. That lady sure can scare you into squeezing!

Passmethecrisps · 02/10/2012 20:56

And I'm in bed now. Cup of tea and my kindle. Smashing

shanelle5 · 02/10/2012 20:57

Havnt posted for ages but been reading daily and trying to keep up with the fast pace of the thread. I do have more success posting on the FB group so hopefully a few of you remember me or know who I am.
Anyway, had my 36 week appt toda and to my worry and surprise I must admit, I had a huge amount of sugar in my urine and have to go in tomorrow at 9am for a glucose test. The midwife was so shocked she did it twice, it read of the scale, I mean ++++ it couldnt have been more/worse Confused
She has me so worried now, more or less told me to forget my home birth that I had my heart set on and was talking about all the possible knock on effects of gestational diabetes that would probablt e confirmed tomorrow- induced early birth, large baby, possible/probable CS. I came home and had a good cry this was the last straw for me as ive had the most horrendous last 3 weeks Sad Anyone offer any knowledge/reassurance/advice or just general chat as I am shit scared and rather fed up

shanelle5 · 02/10/2012 20:58

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, posted quickly without checking and whillst in a bit of a flap. I am not illiterate really Blush

kissyfur · 02/10/2012 21:15

Oh shanelle I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have any experience of GD but just wanted to be a shoulder for you. It must be hard to be told you probably won't get the water birth you hoped for but I think very few births end up being completely how you imagined them to be. The most important thing is that baby gets here safely and you are ok too. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow

horseylady · 02/10/2012 21:18

Shanelle no idea about gd I'm sorry but I really hope you're ok!

Evil sorry to hear about your mil

I'm using disposable nappies. I might try reusable ones but the more I think about it, while it would be good for lots of reasons I can't see it being practical for me and we can't use them at the nursery!

shanelle5 · 02/10/2012 21:20

Hoping if I do get a diagnosis I can do a Detective and stand my corner a little bit as I REALLY dont want to be induced early or have too much intervention. (unless of course it is for the safety of bubba) Guess I will know more tomorrow

blonderthanred · 02/10/2012 21:31

Shanelle I just wrote a long post and lost it, but just to say I also have GD and there is a nice supportive thread in Pregnancy.

I really struggled to accept it at first but the most important thing is the health of you and your baby so if your body needs help with that, please don't take it too hard.

kirrinIsland · 02/10/2012 21:46

shanelle no advice I'm afraid, but hope it all ok tomorrow.

sorry about your MIL evil

I got a batch of reusable nappies off free cycle when pregnant with DD1 - and was full of good intentions. Never used them, they sat in the buckets they came in for 18 months before I admitted defeat and put them back on freecycle! They are now part of the local NCT groups nappy library I believe - so at least someone benefitted :) This time I'm being more realistic about my ability to cope with extra washing, and just going for disposables from the start!

I am currently on the sofa with a hot water bottle and trying to summon up the energy to get and go to bed.......

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 22:15

shanelle it would not be the end of the world if you have GD, and will not necessarily end up in a section. The most important thing is that they identify a problem if there is one, so they can monitor you both. If it went undetected, it could have a sad ending, so knowing is a good thing. Your bloods may still come back fine, but it does sound like it was a lot of sugar in there. Thinking of you for tomorrow x

GTbaby · 02/10/2012 23:23

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+hooded-cable-cardigans-in-knitwear-for-babies+B5526 another suggestion for yellow ( I think). But seems like the gap baby grow is what u want/ described.

In bed ATM. Going to struggle to sleep Sad woke at 1 pm! As I had a mw appointment.

Mw Advices to see gp about WC jab. And showed me the memo sent to all mw. Gp Receptionist is going to check with Dr n let me know tomorrow. At 36 weeks obviously I'm in no rush Angry.

Oh well. 3 more days at work Smile

Iheartpasties · 03/10/2012 01:29

Lovely to hear an update on the tiny little twins.

Wow I am so tired today - baby had its feet in my ribs all night and it was agony. I had to push back down with my hand, then this morning the eventually shifted position! argh!

Me and my friend were supposed to be running playgroup tomorrow, but her LO is ill and she texted me to say she couldnt do it, I was going to text her to say I wasnt up to it! So now I am texting other members to see if someone else can do it for us! Fingers crossed.

I can feel the placenta throbbing, on the front of my bump.

Catbag · 03/10/2012 05:35

I'm so glad thereis found time to update us all. Sounds like the twins are really coming on and I hope they get home soon.

Sorry to hear of discomforts and GD issues ( I can't remember who it was Blush). I've been up since 4:20am. Couldn't breathe because head is blocked, and was acutely aware that I was keeping DH awake ( although he didn't come to bed until 3ish) and trying to turn over in bed is becoming agonising. Seemed easier to just get out of bed :/

Had an appointment with my community midwife yesterday. She was quite cross after reading my notes, because of the mess-up that the hospital had made at my last appointment. She said not to be too concerned about the weight discrepancy with the estimates that were given at the scan since they tend not to be terribly accurate. What she was more concerned about was the fact that T1 (that should've been listed as T2) is noted as transverse and T2 (should've been T1) is cephalic. Said if I turned up to labour ward that they would put me straight in for a section as there's no way that I could deliver a transverse baby first. Has written in capitals letters that this mistake has been made in my notes and warned me that we need to kick off if they either don't read it or don't pay attention to it. No problem there- there is noooooo way that I am consenting to a section unless vitally necessary for the health of fraggles.

I'm 34+2 today. Reeeeaaaallly thought I'd be cuddling babies by now :(
