Well done VQ, I'm glad your persistence has paid off!

YellowWellies · 02/10/2012 11:52

Haha VQ you're a star. I bet she called you through gritted teeth. Hahaha serves the bitch right Grin

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 11:56

VQ just picturing that practice managers face :) well done though!

ShellyBobbs · 02/10/2012 12:04

Haha, look at this one it looks like a giant green condom. Who'd put their baby in this? Grin

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 12:08

Shelly hehehe - a christmas condom!!

kissyfur · 02/10/2012 12:08

Well done VQ!! doctors receptionists are a different breed I swear, I have never met a nice one

izzy that is disgraceful of your DD's nursery! I am v v Angry for you.

Well I am shattered today as i was up from 2am til 5am with a poorly DD, her temp was 40.4 before I got some ibruprofen into her. Poor little mite, she's much better this morning but she did give me a scare last night Sad

YellowWellies · 02/10/2012 12:12

Shelley that's comedy gold!!!!

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 12:15

I am sure she is a lovely person Grin I am worried now in case she is Mumsnet Royalty or something.

MM most wraps can be used with most two part nappies, ie those with an inner soak bit and an outer wrap. There are other types, like all in ones, or pockets, which do not need an additional wrap. Some are sized, some are multi sized with poppas to make them fit smaller bots. They vary greatly in quality. Blueberries are awesome, but pricy. Motherease wraps have a good reputation, and if they are rikki or airflow ones, then they are awesome, and I would buy them off you! I never liked the liners much, preferring fleece, but again that is personal preference.

That seems like a very good price. Ask to have a look at them, and ascertain how old they are as older wraps can perish, and how much use they have had. Take a teddy or doll to try one on, and see how you feel. If they look yucky, do not be scared to say no thank you. If you did not get on with them, you may well make more than that if you sold them on.

Washables are complicated. No question is silly.

littlelolly it is so frustrating being so near and yet so far away from the jab.

Mummies, please do be persistent about this. The nearer to 34 weeks we have the jab, the greater chance of it protecting our babies. Even if babies arrive early, they will be protected to an extent as we are protected. If babies are late, then they have even more time to absorb the good stuff. Do not be fobbed off. We are special cases (were anyway) and need priority treatment, even if it does inconvenience them.

applepieinthesky · 02/10/2012 12:18

Result VQ Grin Bet that was painful for her!

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 12:19

kissy bloody hell! That is one hot kid! It is terrifying when they get that hot. Glad she is a bit better now. Has she had chickenpox? If there is no clear reason for such a high fever, then that is possible for 2 weeks hence. That is what happened with my DD, and the doctor warned me that the pox was on its way.

shelly that is funny! Christmas condom indeed! It does not look safe though, too fluffy for a newborn surely?

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 02/10/2012 12:27

After the difficulties you are all having re the whooping cough vaccination, I called my GP on the off chance (despite seeing consultant's team tomorrow) and asked whether they were scheduling appointments... told yes, and was I between 28-38 weeks (34+4) and they have booked me in for Thursday afternoon when I will be 34+6. It literally took 2 ticks and they could not have been more helpful or efficient.

So clearly the message is getting through in some PCTs. Am in Devon.

Good luck to everyone needing it.

And also LOVING VQ's assertiveness. Need to get me some of that in certain situations.

horseylady · 02/10/2012 12:37

I'm seeing mw tomorrow shall I call today and deal with the opionanated receptionist?!!

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 12:40

horsey call the receptionist (worth a laugh) as it is the GPs not the midwives who are giving it out. Likely the MW will just say to ask in the surgery, thus wasting a day.

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 12:40

madam good news indeed.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/10/2012 12:42

What bout these yellowwellies maybe not exactly right but I thought they were lovely and a but unusual.

Disney one

Or

bear ine

MissMummy1 · 02/10/2012 12:58

The bear's cute. I like the bear one.

I've not read great reviews about them now valium. A lot of people seconding your opinion they are too bulky and can cause problems like preventing baby from lying flat etc.

What are your opinion of bamboo one-size all in ones? Drying isn't a problem as I have tonnes of space and a machine.

MissMummy1 · 02/10/2012 12:59

*opinions

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 02/10/2012 13:10

Yes VQ, given some of what is reported on this thread I was very pleasantly surprised that it was quite so simple!

ShellyBobbs · 02/10/2012 13:19

I can't wait for Thursday when I'm sure I'll end up having a full scale row with bitchy manager :)

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 13:19

MM I have sized two part bamboo nappies Little Lamb and bamboozles, which are great for absorbing, take a few days to dry, but do leave bum damp. A fleece liner can help with that. A bit bulky, so I tend to reserve for nights and longer journeys. Which one size bamboo AIO'S are you thinking of? Mine are sized, but fit as broad an age range as OSFAs, if not broader. DD2 is 2.4, and OSFA LL does not fit, yet the LL bamboo size 2s do.

Dixiebell · 02/10/2012 13:19

Gap have some yellowwellies, what about this or this?

Just phoned my surgery. They told me to phone back in a week or so. Luckily I'm only 32 weeks today so have some time.

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 13:22

Oh dixie those are lovely. I am tempted now.

kissyfur · 02/10/2012 13:28

I know VQ I nearly took her straight down to A&E! She hasn't yet no but her nursery have had it going round since June. So we've been expecting it every time she has been poorly. Sad

blonderthanred · 02/10/2012 13:32

VQ I am just about to buy the Little Lambs OSFA nappies, in their 8 for £32 offer, as I thought it would be a good starting point and if we don't get on with them we can try another brand.

They are all-in-one and microfibre rather than bamboo - we don't have a tumble dryer so I thought getting bamboo dry in winter might be a struggle. I could get bamboo inserts though.

Have you used these at all? Any advice?
