Oh god i start crying when i get worked up and cant even speak it is SO frustrating! I'm always so annoyed with myself!! I was crying on my friends shoulder today and just couldnt even explain why i was crying - i didnt even really know!!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/10/2012 09:44

I know valium you are right. I do find it hard to stick up for myself when in a healthcare environment though. My husband is coming to the appointment too in the hope that he can agree when I say how much I'm struggling. My MIL is having to do more and more child are for me which is great of her but I can't help feeling I'm taking advantage.

Wish me luck!

Also have to speak to DDs nursery this morning as they sent her home yesterday in spare clothes they had as she wet herself. She always has 3 full changes in her bag. That in itself is annoying but the knickers she was wearing were soiled with faeces although they did smell overpoweringly clean. I am disgusted as the faeces was not hers and not fresh, it was all encrusted like it had been badly soiled and not washed properly. I was in tears at the thought of her wearing them. The nursery told MIL that they didn't know if she had a change, yet they all have bags which hang in individual pegs they have used one spared her outfit and put both wet sets in her bag!

DebussyHead · 02/10/2012 09:47

VQ that is unbelievable!! I am raging on your behalf. Stupid bitch indeed, why are GP receptionists and practice managers so difficult and customer unfriendly. It is a requirement of the job to speak to patients like they are idiot time wasters. Grrrr. Its not like you are asking for it for the fun of it.

I agree you, and all women at the 35-38 week stage, should take precendence over a preschooler child as they at least have some immunisation and can delay 2-3 weeks whilst stocks replenish whereas your little one cannot. Its common sense!! I salute you with your sit in protest if need be, Id be tempted with threatening her with going to local media and MP too.

Brockle · 02/10/2012 09:48

I have two to answer VQ including a couple of crib sheets and then I will ignore her. I thought if I was on sick leave I would need to respond but I will reply to these two and try and ignore anything else. I already have my mobile off as she is very keen on texting.

On a different note I have the flu vaccine and whooping cough vaccine next Monday when I will be 34 weeks. It was remarkable easy given that on Friday they knew nothing about it.

TheDetective · 02/10/2012 09:53

Lmao @ VQ!! I'm a tear/snot bubble too, always have been. Can say my piece but then crumble... D'oh!

I just had a go at hand expressing properly as now 35+3 so wanted to get a small frozen supply. In case. I am very pleased to say I got 1.5mls after doing 1 min alternate sides, think I did 3 goes on each.

I'm not sure about it now though as maybe it is just coincidence but the baby is verrrrrrrry active now, and it is active enough at the best of times! This is painful....! Hmmm.

In off to pick up all things I ordered online at the weekend in a minute. And to get some ear plugs Grin

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 09:55

oh izzybuzzy that would have made me upset too - yuck. Your poor little girl. Hopefully she didn't know.

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:55

missmummy it is the GP you need to be hounding, not the midwives it seems. The GPs have stock, and have staff trained in administering the vaccine. Good luck with your appointment.

izzy that is worth a complaint to the nursery. I had an occasion to complain when DD1 was small. She had a soiled nappy, when I collected her, and the worker changed her, but was so rough my little one was crying. When I got her home, her front bottom was still encrusted with poo. At least it was hers.

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:56

debussy good idea about the media. I will report this message and ask MN to do something perhaps?

ShellyBobbs · 02/10/2012 10:23

I can't even get through to my GP surgery, they are not answering the phone! I waited on Friday for someone to get back to me about it after speaking to the nurse, nobody did so I emailed my MP about this farce, still waiting to hear back off him. Everyone has until 11.45 then I'm contacting the local rag and naming names.

Both my youngest and I are taking turns on the toilet today, ewwwwwwww!!!!!!!

YellowWellies · 02/10/2012 10:53

Oh pasties I LOVE that outfit - but £65 is too much for one outfit that they are going to soil pretty quickly... I do love it though......

God am such a tight arse.

I'm awaiting the doctor ringing me back about the whooping cough jag today - if they've not rung by 3.30 I'll be calling them. Feckers....

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 10:56

yes - Yellowwellies the PRICE!!! You could pay someone talented to knit one for less than that surely!! but a very cute outfit!!

I am very much a tight arse especially with baby clothes :)

NervousAt20 · 02/10/2012 10:58

Grin valium I bet your GPs receptionist hate it when you phone. Keep going though!

izzy hope all goes well with your consultant today and you get an induction date. Aw your poor DD why on earth would they think its acceptable to put a child in pants like that

I haven't phoned about the whooping vaccine yet, I have MW tomorrow and she's always seemed pretty good so hoping she'll have it all sorted for me. I feel for the staff at my GP I'm a nightmare with needles and they dread having to tell me I need something Grin think they deserve chocs once LO is here

My hospital bag is all packed and ready, was going to wait until about 37w to pack babies bag

ShellyBobbs · 02/10/2012 11:05

This is copied and pasted from the other thread, can't be bothered typing it out again Grin

Finally got through to my surgery who gave the 'what me guv, I know nowt guv, we've been told nowt guv'! Well that's wasn't what the boss at my local PCT advised me when I phoned her to report them. All surgeries were advised yesterday that they could offer jabs IMMEDIATELY to women who were near 38 weeks and to start taking appointments. Furthermore she advised that the stocks were plenty available and delivery of orders was extremely quick so there should be absolutely no problem at all.

I'm seeing my midwife at the surgery on Thursday so will see what they say then, I'll speak to the practice manager and ask her to ring this lady whilst I'm there if she lies to my face (or I'll ring her in front of the manager, either way).

applepieinthesky · 02/10/2012 11:11

brockle If you have been signed off sick by a doctor your boss has no right to hassle you at home. Ignore ignore ignore

I'm going to call the midwife today because I've still got awful diarrhoea. It's gone on for ages now. Will also ask about the whooping cough vaccination. Flu jab drop in session is this saturday.

MissMummy1 · 02/10/2012 11:13

VQ need some advice. Do you have any experience of motherease reusable nappies?

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 11:31

missmummy no personal experience of motherease nappies. I own one, but have never used it is it seems so very bulky. You need a wrap to go with it, which I did not know when I bought it 7 years ago (hoarder) I would encourage you to read reviews on this site and elsewhere, and if you have any specific questions, start a thread on the nappy forum. Have you been offered some at a bargainous price? I think there are much better nappies out there, but everyone likes different things, and if free or bargainous, they may be an ideal opportunity to see if you like washables.

Just been to MP. A most charming man in the office (drool) spoke to me, and was personally grateful I had raised the issue as his wife is pregnant and may need to deliver early due to complications, so he was going to look into this for her. He will contact the Public Health Department, and the (bitch) practice manager. He said I was clearly capable of fighting my own corner, but it was the other mums too...

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 11:34

saddo emoticon needed for above post from me :)

MissMummy1 · 02/10/2012 11:39

Thanks valium. It's a birth to potty set with about 50 nappies, 10 wraps and a few rolls of flushable liners for £50 being sold by someone in the village. Figured it was worth a try maybe?

Quick silly question, can you use any wraps with reusables or do they have to be the same brand?

Remembering now that I got so confused by reusables when we first started looking that I gave up and resigned myself to disposables. Damn 'working' from home and having all this extra time to browse and buy things!!

YellowWellies · 02/10/2012 11:40

Pasties you're epic! We're on the right track - what are the odds of getting something similar for under £30....

Have Biscuit and Brew with love from me!

Bluetinkerbell · 02/10/2012 11:41

I just phoned GP Surgery, they're still sorting the whooping cough vaccine out, need to phone them back tomorrow.
Flu jab sorted though, having it on Monday... never had it before, and I don't like injections.

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 11:42

yellowwellies aw you made me smile, how cute is that sleeping suit/sleeping bag thingy?!! very!!!

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 11:46

Appointment for whooping cough jag 2.10pm this very day Grin. The delightful practice manager just called me Grin.

LittleLolly · 02/10/2012 11:47

Well my whooping cough update is that the midwives can't do it, so phoned GP and spoke to reception who said they have received absolutely no information on it and she didn't even know they were going to be offering it Hmm and she will get the practice nurse to call me back. She suggested I try my health visitor.... Who I don't have because my baby isn't born yet, hence needing the pregnancy vaccination!

Also tried Occy Health at work but they can't offer it.

Arghhhh! I know we have this vaccine in the fridge at work...
