Have decided that the Ebay-clad / much-handmedown'ed bellydweller deserves one nice totally 'new to them' outfit from me (DH has been buying lots of funny and quirky bits and pieces that's he's had his eye on - he's such a girl). And irritatingly I've got a really specific idea of what I want but no idea where to get one. I'd like a white cable knit baby grow. You know a classic white knitted sleepsuit / all in one / babygrow. Can't find on Ebay so am stumped. Can anyone suggest somewhere online for really nice classic newborn stuff. I'm not really a fan of pastels - and it would have to be a unisex outfit given we don't know what we're having. Even if a bit pricey - as everything else has been free or second hand and it would be just one outfit. So ladies if you were going to buy a lovely going home outfit - where would you buy it from?

Oh went into docs and raised merry hell politely informed them that their receptionist needs not to make out that preggo women ringing up about the whooping cough jag are mad and that no such guidance has been issued - I presented her with the Dept Health and Scottish government guidance docs on the topic, in front of the senior partner of the surgery (who hadn't himself heard anything - well done Orkney PCT on the glacial pace at opening emails and forwarding them to the island surgeries). Jeez do none of these folks listen out for medical stories in the news? Hopefully after this I might manage to get the jag when I see the midwife on Thurs but the Dr is going to ring me tomorrow to sort out.

GTbaby · 02/10/2012 00:01

Wrt whooping cough injection my DH went to gp surgery today. Receptionist said "hmm yes I heard something about that on the news". N then said see ur midwife. Lucky I have 36 week appointment tomorrow. So not wasting to much time between being passed from one person to the other. But will b very annoyed if midwife says see gp! N I think that's very likely. Also not been advices about flu jab. Will have to ask about that as well.

Bit nervous about seeing mw this time as I started crying last time Blush. Sure she doesn't even remember me as she sees so many ppl, But still nervous.

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 05:16

your poor dd VQ perhaps she lied about him hitting her because she feels scared of him :(

ditsy its a lovely pram and really loads of strangers have asked of dd is a boy even when she is dressed in pink, so there you go!

TheDetective · 02/10/2012 05:18

Awake at 0430. Asked DP to go on the sofa as I couldn't relax back to sleep with his 'heavy breathing' snorring and he just grunted and said he was on his front what more could he do.

So now I am up, and on the sofa myself. Consoling myself by cooking a pizza Grin

Fucker. I'll get him back. I'm in work at 1.30 today :(

Sophiathesnowfairy · 02/10/2012 06:49

YW you may have to take up knitting to get yourself a cable knit sleep suit. I was after a brightly coloured stripes, newborn hat, but none seem to exist. I don't think I have time to learn to knit and integrate colours and make said hat AND sort everything out, AND put my feet up. Even just a little bit.

FatimaLovesBread · 02/10/2012 06:54

YW I'm sure I've seen one similar somewhere. I'll try hunt it down when I'm at work today

horseylady · 02/10/2012 08:06

Yw tk maxx had some beautiful stuff in yesterday.

There are some lovely outfits around. I also really like the stuff on vertbaudent but there's little unisex stuff on there. Plus I have no idea what size the little man is in my belly lol so I don't want to buy too much more till he's here!!

I'm alsonot sure how many outfits they actually wear? Mine has his vests and sleep suits then his outside suit to come home in. He then has no outfits lol just lots of all in ones!!!

Have decided I need more pictures or more something for the nursery!!

And detective you certainly can not have too many blankets or towels!!!! You can never have enough bed linnen!!! Baby or not!!

TheDetective · 02/10/2012 08:09

Good! I'm glad to know that Grin

I need some 6x4 prints for the Ikea coloured picture frames I have bought. Spent the last 3 hours searching online to no avail.

I thought about drawing some. But no. I'm not artistic!

TheDetective · 02/10/2012 08:11

I can't find the baby!! I know it's in there somewhere... But it has gone hiding!!!! Must have slunk to the back of my uterus!

I feel like a bad mother already!

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 08:12

i have a tickly cough and sore throat, argh! I feel like crapola!

horseylady · 02/10/2012 08:19

Yeah when I looked round our house I realised we actually have limited artwork!!! Problem is dh is a superb artist so nothing kind of adds up!!!

I can always find the baby!! Do you think the mw could guess his weight?

Pasties get well soon!!!

TheDetective · 02/10/2012 08:23

She could probably guess what he weighs now, but that is no indicator for birth weight, as you could labour at 37 weeks.... Or 42!!

horseylady · 02/10/2012 08:26

Yeah just what he weighs now. I'm just curious lol and it feels like everyone else knows!!

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 08:34

My midwife rang me today - she might have to cancel my appointment with her tomorrow. After I got off the phone I got really upset as I have been looking forward to this appointment and had arranged child care. We were going to go over my birth last time and I was hoping to put sort some things out/put them to bed sort of thing! She said she will let me know early tomorrow. I just dont feel I have been able to see the midwife enough this time around, I dont have kind of relationship with her. I hope I can fill in a comments card or something.

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/10/2012 08:45

That would annoy me too pasties hope she doesn't cancel for u.

It's dh's birthday next Tues and I have noooo idea what to get him. Might have to be an arsenal shirt but I have a feeling he kind of knows I was planning that.

33 weeks today :)

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:06

pasties I would contact the maternity unit and ask for a debrief from a senior midwife, someone who is used to debriefing, and can allocate you a long enough slot. I had one between baby 1 and baby 2 and it helped a lot. Explain you are near your due date and they will hopefully accommodate you ASAP.

Brockle · 02/10/2012 09:19

33 weeks today for me too DH. I am now off work which is a strange but nice feeling. I have three weeks of sick leave due to PGP and then my AL starts. However that means my boss has a few weeks to email me and make me feel guilty before I can legitimately ignore her.

DH has bitten the bullet and given me our bed for the next seven weeks. He admitted that sleeping in the playroom (due to DS2 not sleeping) was comfier than sleeping next to me. I love my DH but this has made me really happy Grin

Starting to wash the baby clothes today. Love looking at the tiny sleepsuits!

Seeing the consultant at 34 weeks to sign off for a water birth. Hoping she can give me an idea on whether he will be a chubster or not.

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 09:20

VQ thank you something I will definitely think about this evening.

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:22

Whooping cough saga continues.

Called practice this morning. Receptionist said no plans at all, so spoke to practice manager, who I have had dealings with professionally in the past, and she hates me! She said nothing would be happening until 15th as she had to get the supplies and book the clinic.

I said that this would be too late for me, and advised her of what the Public Health Advisor had said about vaccinating opportunistically at maternal request.

She says she needs proof from the midwives that I am due it. I say I have a bloody great bump that should be proof enough.

We do not have stock, she says, as the pharmacy cannot get it to us yet. I say, yes you do. She says would you rather I gave you the vaccine and not a child? I say frankly yes, as the child would be pre-school and would have already been vaccinated, whereas my child will be a newborn, and have no defences.

I suggest she call public health, she declines. I say I will fight all the way for my child. She takes my number and says she will call me back.

She has no staff to give it, and it would be easier if I got it off the midwives. I say the midwives and Public Health have said I get it from the GP surgery. I nearly volunteered to administer it myself.

This has just been dumped on us, she says. I say not my problem, and how do you think it feels to be in my situation?

Stupid bitch Grin

I will call again tomorrow, and if no date forthcoming for this week, I will be paying her a little visit in person, and stage a sit in protest until I get it.

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:24

brockle if you are on sick leave and then annual leave, you can legitimately ignore your bosses emails now. You are meant to be resting on sick leave, and your annual leave is your own time. Do not let them make you feel bad.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/10/2012 09:26

Morning ladies. fatima I couldn't find the same tens as I had last time but to be honest all you need is one that the settings can be changed manually and a boost button. The boost button being the most important! This time I have an Elle tens. I bought it from eBay and it was as new as the lady didn't like the feeling and didn't actually end up using it. It came with pads, batteries, a wee bag for keeping it in and the leads including spare leads and spare batteries. Was all still boxed too. I did buy another set of pads so that I have two lots as they can dry out if used for hours and hours but it's not likely. Can get replacement pads for less than a fiver. So eBay may be the way to go as hiring works out around the same and they are useful to have as they can be used post birth and for other ailments!

I have consultant this morning. I am hoping they mention induction again as I am in agony and really struggling with the the pain and restricted mobility now :(

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:29

izzy you mention induction. Do not wait for them to. How many weeks are you? They would explain any possible risks, but you have a right to ask.

Iheartpasties · 02/10/2012 09:31

VQ wow you make me smile, you really know how to stand up for yourself, its quite inspiring :)

ValiumQueen · 02/10/2012 09:36

pasties trouble is, after standing up for myself or others, I tend to burst into tears, which kinda spoils the effect Grin I pale into insignificance compared to the mighty shelly and detective though, I think.

MissMummy1 · 02/10/2012 09:39

Wish I could take VQ with me to my MW appointment this afternoon to fight my case re flu and whooping cough jabs! MW has so far proven to be clueless on everything else, DH is refusing to come with me today for fear of having to correct her again!! (this is the woman who wanted to book me in for antenatal classes in December!)

I'm getting a little stressed that I can't find a changing bag I like that's not really expensive. Reckon I could just buy DH one of the pricey ones I really like for his birthday this month and pass it off as a present 'for him'? Like sexy underwear, but more practical! Grin
