Ditsy I LOVE your pram and would use it regardless of whether I have a boy or girl! DH however put his foot down when he saw the price of iCandy prams (we almost got the apple jogger) and have ended up with a black mothercare my3. I think I've decided we're going to go for a mamas and papas Luna pushchair as well in either purple or green when junior's a little older to keep in the car and for my mum to use as the my3 is very big and bulky. I'm not big on gender stereotypes either, and normally couldn't care less about others' opinions, but can totally relate to what you mean here. I really don't think it matters much with the pram. If it has a pink footmuff for the pushchair bit then I might think slightly differently, or buy another footmuff for it if it bothered me too much. It is very lovely though, only a bit jealous!!! Envy

I'm going to tackle my mw on the whooping cough and flu jabs tomorrow. Wish me luck!

YellowWellies · 01/10/2012 16:19

I've just rung our surgery about the whooping cough jag and (quelle surprise) the view is that given we are the back of beyond - they've heard nothing about it. This could just be a reflection of island pace of life / inability to check email / dislike of modern technology. But I was like errrrr.... Shock even if we're a remote island - my wee one will be getting visitors from the mainland and could potentially be living there him / herself before they are 8 weeks old. So it's operation 'nag the MW'....

applepieinthesky · 01/10/2012 16:25

ditsy It's a lovely pram and I would happily put a boy in it but if it would upset you for people to assume it's a girl then send it back.

I have been almost falling asleep at work since 1 o'clock and tonight is my first ante-natal class. Don't know how I'm going to stay awake. It doesn't finish until 9 and I was in bed by then last night. Got to take a yoga mat with me and I really hope it's not too strenuous because I've never done it before Confused

kirrinIsland · 01/10/2012 16:32

I've now got my whooping cough jab booked for Wednesday.

peaky I've just had a nap with my pillow as you suggested - amazing! It was so comfortable, definitely doing that again tonight. Thanks for the tip!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/10/2012 16:40

ditsy I would keep the pram, it is more burgundy than pink. I have a royal blue pushchair which I bought because I liked it, it didn't occur to me that DS was a boy. In relation to the pushchair iyswim. This one could be a girl. And she will be in a blue pushchair/pram, I don't mind because it looks smart.

You are a girl! You could look at it that way.

So, going back to the witch hazel, can you, or can you not use it if you have stitches, and thus, a wound?

blonderthanred · 01/10/2012 16:58

Oh no we are all getting the lurgy! I was meant to go in for my last day at work today but woke up with cotton wool in my head and knives in my throat. Assuming I feel better I will have to go in tomorrow instead.

Lovely pram, I think the colour schemes don't matter at all if you like it - it's you pushing it around. Ditto the changing bags as long as your DHs are happy to carry it too.

Evilwater · 01/10/2012 17:01

I phoned back, most of the pain is gone. I even manged to fold some washing, I feel like a prat. They weren't worried, about my period pain.

It looks like we're haveing pizza tonight, I think I worried my DP so he is paying Grin

Witch Hazel I'm pretty sure you can use on open wounds. Arnica you can't.

Evil glad you're better.

Bright pink might bother me but I'm not a bright pink girl lol!! Really like the I candy but pleased with my uppababy!!!!

Still feel awful :( debating whether or not to go to yoga?!

Evilwater · 01/10/2012 17:05

If you feel awful, then don't go.

ValiumQueen · 01/10/2012 17:10

kirrin result! Could you tell me if you are in England, Scotland Wales or NI. Nothing specific, just that general.

NervousAt20 · 01/10/2012 17:13

I no there was lots of talk and reccommendations on birthing books ect in another thread but I can't remember that much has anyone got any reccommendations I'd like one abit for birthing but manly with a new baby. Thanks

YellowWellies · 01/10/2012 17:34

JuJu Sundin's birth skills and Ina May Gaskins Guide to childbirth have both been really enjoyable and inspiring.

As for baby books, we've just got the 'what to expect 1st year' and a couple of other hand me downs from my sister (the no cry sleep solution?) She offered to send me one of Gina Fords for a laugh. Am I awful though am sick of reading parenting books - I just want to finish my Jo Nesbo latest....

YellowWellies · 01/10/2012 17:34

Aye Kirrin us Scottish ladies would like to know where you are based so we can go and shout at our GPs who claim it's not happening up here.... when it is.

ValiumQueen · 01/10/2012 17:38

YW when you get yours though, you will get tea and biscuits too probably.

horseylady · 01/10/2012 17:39

Blood pressure 71/50...... No wonder I feel so crap. Going to have something to eat see if I can pick myself up a bit!

LittleLolly · 01/10/2012 17:40

ditsy I have the icandy peach2 in black, it's a gorgeous pram, I love it! I think the berry bon bon is more burgundy than pink. Could you change it for grey or black if you think it looks pink? Will the shop you bought it from let you and will it come in time?!

LittleLolly · 01/10/2012 17:41

horsey!! Get some fluids in you and lie down with your feet up! That's a very very low BP. Hope you are ok

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/10/2012 17:44

kirrin my docs haven't offered anything yet. Funny that we live so close yet there's still different info on it!

jaylee89 · 01/10/2012 17:49

PetiteRaleuse · 01/10/2012 17:53

My ELCS has been brought forward to the 19th October, to beconfirmed on the 16th only. Was expecting it to be the 26 th at the earliest but hoping for the 2nd. He said he might move it to the 26th but probably the 19th. Which is the week after next week. Shock

Evilwater · 01/10/2012 17:54

horsey you need to drink at least 500ml under 30mins. After that retake your BP. If it goes up keep drinking, if not make a note.

Then get phone someone!!! A midwife or dr. That's not good.

Evil

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/10/2012 17:58

horsey sympathies! I have constant very low blood pressure, drs look at me like this Confused and comment that I should be in the floor with it so low.
But still, get yourself checked!!! It's not normal especially if you're feeling poo.

Evilwater · 01/10/2012 18:00

I agree with tits. If its not your normal BP then you must get it checked out.
Evil

kissyfur · 01/10/2012 18:09

Glad you're feeling better evil and horsey think you should go get checked out with a BP that low! Just to be safe

Got my whooping cough vaccine booked in for 8th October, flu jab is on the 10th. Do you think it's ok to have them in the same week?
