Cripes jaylee that sounds really scary. It is amazing what can be done though isn't it? Fingers crossed your wee one stays put for another wee while.

I am glad you got checked out MM. Take it easy.

Sorry to hear people are not feeling well. I think we all just need to accept that these next few weeks are going to be tough.

My DH is away on a stag do this weekend so I am all on my lonesome. Done some tidying, napping and telly watching. Neighbour has just popped round to ask if we need a cot/Moses basket/ pram etc! I wish I had spoken to her months ago! She is from a family of girls so I assumed that they would be sharing things but apparently they are all done. I don't know her very well so it was lovely of her to ask. There are wee bits and pieces we need so maybe I could relieve them of things.

I had thought about sorting out baby clothes this weekend. When I put them away I didn't know there was a difference between newborn and 0 to 3 so I just shoved everything in together. I need to have an audit really. It might make more sense to wait until the nursery is ready. Hmm.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/09/2012 18:03

Dh has had to go out for an emergency kfc, our oven broke while cooking dinner so had to throw away a whole meal which was such a waste.
It's heating up but not fully, bloody thing it's the second time it's broke since we lived here.

ShellyBobbs · 29/09/2012 18:07

MM Glad to hear all is OK. I just can't be arsed doing anything at all, never mind putting on slap at night to go out Grin

Jaylee Phew! Everyday counts now, so if your little girl does decide to put in an appearance at least she will be well looked after in hospital, we're in the 'safe' zone now. Glad they were able to stop it though, hope you're OK.

Nervous thinking of you, hope everything is OK.

Another exhausting day of doing nowt. Managed to bag up some crap from the kids room, made the youngest cry doing it and stuck about 5 loads in the washer and hung it out. Am very achy, sore and tender today, also have 5 7-8 year old giggling girls doing gymnastics in my front room :)

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 29/09/2012 18:13

Glad to hear baby appears to be staying put Jaylee.

We've had a better afternoon, had a nap despite my intentions then had cuddles with DD. We've also done some colouring and cooking this arvo, trying to spend some nice time with DD while I can before am stuck on sofa with newborn!

About to FaceTime my extended family which is always nice - my parents live 300 miles away and my sisters visiting them - would have liked to have trekked up there too but it's MIL's 70th birthday tomorrow and so couldn't have done both. Still, a video call is the next best thing!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2012 18:42

Am actually beginning to worry about nervous

kissyfur · 29/09/2012 18:43

Me too sophia

ShellyBobbs · 29/09/2012 19:15

Hopefully she's just resting.

TheDetective · 29/09/2012 19:34

I just had a massive realisation this morning. I am 35 weeks. In 2 weeks, I could have a baby.

Crumbs.

I'm not ready.

FatimaLovesBread · 29/09/2012 19:34

Right, all of you who are further on and far more organised than me. I've started to write a hospital bag list, could you look over it and suggest any additions and whether you think i'll have enough of what's listed.

I will hopefully be going to the birth centre where you tend to be out within a day so i'm hoping my stay won't be too long. If I stay longer i'm intending on having another bag in the car that DH can bring in.

Jaylee, good to hear baby is staying put for now! Irritable uterus is very very common, and baby is a good weight/gestation now, so if she did come early, she would need some special care, but not the intensive care of earlier gestations.

Hope Nervous is getting on ok, although I do know what the NHS cogs are like, so she could just be waiting for scan/doctor to review etc.

Fatima Your nursery is gorgeous! I love it! I'd happily sleep in there Grin

rowingdowntheriver · 29/09/2012 19:37

yellowellies, yep child benefit will be tapered above £50k as you lose 1% of the benefit for every £100 you or your partner earn over £50k. You can actually claim the benefit and get it paid but it will then be deducted from your DH through tax at the end of the tax year. An easier alternative is to elect to take the benefit but have it unpaid. Then, at the end of the tax year, if for whatever reason your DH does not go over the threshold you can ask for it to be paid to you in a single lump sum.

rowingdowntheriver · 29/09/2012 19:38

nervous, hope you are ok. jaylee, glad you have been checked and are ok. Fc the baby stays put for a little while longer.

rowingdowntheriver · 29/09/2012 19:41

fatima add jelly babies (great energy boost for when you are in labour!) and batiste dry shampoo to your list!

ShellyBobbs · 29/09/2012 19:41

Here's a random post. I was queueing up in the garage yesterday having bought some petrol, my eyes were wandering about behind the counter and I looked at the price of fags over £8 a packet!! OMFG!! Shock

Random post over.

FatimaLovesBread · 29/09/2012 19:46

Thanks Detective Grin I love your stripey wall, I wanted to do something like that originally but it was too much effort with the wonky olden day walls so we went for lime green instead. I'm tempted to get a camp bed put up in there Wink

Rowing I've got a mini dry shampoo so will add that as well as jelly babies. We're going to try keep a permanently stocked snacks and sweets cupboard so we can grab things from there, all though i'll probably eat it all and restock it 10 times over Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/09/2012 19:48

shelly I know! I'm so glad I gave up smoking when I got preg with this one. Dh still smokes (not in the house may I add) and it just seems like money down the drain now.

fatima your list is great, mine is nowhere near that good

Passmethecrisps · 29/09/2012 19:54

Really shelley? How can anyone afford that? I thought my boozing was expensive! Pre-pregnancy obviously.

I have just done my clothing audit and this is what we have:
Newborn
13 vests
6 sleepsuits
3 jackets/snowsuits

0-3 months
9 vests
16 sleepsuits
1 snowsuit
2 nighties

Numerous Cardigans/hats etc

We need to get more sleepsuits for newborn I think.

I think I missed what was happening with nervous. I hope she and bump are well though.

I need DH to come back from stag do with our only case before I can pack my bag. Our hospital has an M&S so DH can do emergency runs for Percy Pigs.

Tomorrow, when I make the bed I am going to put a pad underneath my side. That will be my nod towards organisation and acceptance that I will actually be having a small person really pretty soon.

Passmethecrisps · 29/09/2012 20:02

And fatima that list looks great. I hope you don't mind that I have pinched it for inspiration.

Cat, bump and I are now watching a film. Cat is pleased. Bump is oblivious.

YellowWellies · 29/09/2012 20:13

DH has just built the travel system - am dead excited and surprised at how easy it is to take apart / add the carrycot / take off the carseat... even I can do it and I'm totally cack-handed.

Eeek still no news from nervous :(?

FatimaLovesBread · 29/09/2012 20:15

No Pass pinch away Smile
I'm an avid list maker, helps me feel organised even if i'm not.
I'm jealous of the hospital M&S. We went on the hospital tour on Monday and I noticed there's an ice cream vending machine in the main entrance, DH is under strict instructions to buy me a twister ice lolly once the baby is here Smile

Shelly I know what you mean about the cost. DH smokes although he has cut down and is hoping to quit. He smokes a cheaper brand but it's still £6.50ish for 20! But Regal etc are more around the £8 mark Shock If he ever moans about me wanting to buy something, I always retort with the fact that I don't spend £25-30 a week on fags Grin Normally shuts him up

LittleLolly · 29/09/2012 20:48

fatima your list looks very similar to mine! I do like a good list. I was going to leave the baby's blanket in the car too, but then I thought if it is a freezing cold November day the blanket might get really cold before I cover baby with it? Or am I over thinking things?!

LittleLolly · 29/09/2012 20:49

Gosh I hope nervous and baby are ok, and she posts soon

FatimaLovesBread · 29/09/2012 21:00

I hadn't thought of that Lolly. But it should warm up pretty quickly when DH brings it in with the car seat. Might be a complete PFB and make DH sit and warm the car up before coming back in to get us Grin

YellowWellies · 29/09/2012 21:16

I shouldn't worry too much about the car temperature - we'll be returning to a house with solid fuel heating that will take a couple of hours to get warm after DH lays the fire in the Rayburn - and we live off the Northern coast of Scotland!!!! Poor PFB YW....

ValiumQueen · 29/09/2012 21:23

DD2 is unwell. On antibiotics since yesterday am for suspected UTI following seeing Dr about her sore patch on her bot, I was not convinced, but knew there was an infection. Awaiting urine test results. She had been fine, no temp, her usual self, just sore bot only bothering her at nappy changes or following a wee.

Today she had a low grade temp on waking, and has been a little swine all day. She had a nap about 4pm, and was clingy and tearful on waking, which she can be sometimes. Temp a bit higher, so we decided to give her some meds with her tea. She did not eat much, but enough to get meds down her. Threw up tea and fluids at 8pm. Lunch had passed through. Temp spiked when vomiting, but has since gone down to normal. A side effect of Trimethoprim can be high temp and mouth ulcers, which can be very serious. Tiny sore patch on tongue, and temp no higher that 38.1, and normal now so not overly concerned. Her breathing is good and steady.

She did look rather listless after vomiting, but managed a smile before falling asleep. Has had diarrhoea, so back in disposables (I am not stupid!) and this will make it easier to monitor output. I will call NHS24 overnight if she is worse, and deffo in the morning to see if she should continue to have antibiotics.

This parenting lark can be bloody hard work sometimes.
