I am really bad at remembering who has written what (despite having only just read the thread!).

Thanks for the info about the whooping cough jab, I'm going to call my midwife about it on Monday to see if I can get it. I got my flu jab on Thurs - just asked my Dr for it when I was in seeing her with DS (who has got tonsilitis and an ear infection Sad).

Re the wet wipe convo earlier, I started off using water and cotton wool with Ds but found it a pain as bits of cotton wool kept sticking to his bum and, I think, irritating it. I found some disposable water wipes online which I used for a few months. You can get them from ocado or Amazon and I think I'll use the same this time round.

Boring tax update alert: Many of you may already know this but I've only just found our that child benefit entitlement is changing from Jan 13. Basically if either you of your partner earn more than £60k you will not get any benefit (well actually you can but it will get taken back from the highest earner through their tax code at the end of the tax year). If the highest earner earns between £50k and £60k then you will only be entitled to part of the benefit. Thought I'd share in case it affects you and you need to plan for it.

Iheartpasties · 29/09/2012 06:54

I have just been sewing with the sewing machine, but now I'm putting my feet up as my back is aching.

ValiumQueen · 29/09/2012 07:30

rowing I wish we earned enough to be affected by the child benefit changes! We can only dream of earning that much Grin

Thank you for all your kind words. stunt last year the boy became fixated on another little girl. They could not tell me who it was or what happened. The first week of class her best friend had a broken arm with just a back slab and bandage while the swelling went down, and he stabbed his pencil into her sore arm repeatedly. She was so upset she would not go back to school. I only found out about it this week from her dad.

ValiumQueen · 29/09/2012 07:41

I am sorry that so many of you young things are feeling so shattered, although I do find it slightly reassuring that it is not just my age. missmummy I do hope your breathlessness has eased. If not, I would encourage you to get it checked out.

tits hope your DH is ok. Do not feel bad. You did not know. I remember many years ago, my ex had just been thrown out by me for cheating on me with my 'friend' and I said to my mates at work 'I wish he would just do me a favour and die' (not nice, granted, but deserved) and then a phone call came through to say he had been in a high speed crash. He was ok but his beloved car was a right-off. I felt awful, and have never said anything like that again, just in case!

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/09/2012 08:16

Morning all, feeling knackered this morning. I was out for a friends birthday last night and got home just before midnight. But instead of just going straight to bed I stayed up with DH watching the Ryder cup. Then I was up with heartburn during the night and then awake at some silly hour. Still I am off for a spa day/night with the girls a bit later so looking forward to some relaxing time.

I can't believe it's nearly October. We will be able to say our baby's are due next month, and some of you will be able able to say this month. Eeeek....exciting stuff Smile

horseylady · 29/09/2012 08:30

Any news from nervous? Just wondered who shed got on yesterday?

MissMummy1 · 29/09/2012 08:54

TMI had a lot of extra discharge. Clear with no blood but added to the quiet day yesterday and breathlessness last night they want me to go in and get checked out. Will update later

Rowing I recommend cotton wool pads because they don't leave annoying bits of fluff behind.

With regard to the child benefit, if you or your partner earn above the cut off of £50k then one option is to put extra into your pension to bring the salary below the cut off. Obviously you have to be earning just the right amount that you can afford to put extra into your pension without disadvantaging yourself but I'm sure some people would be able to do that. It's a ludicrous system where a family with one person earning 60k loses the benefit but a family with two people earning 50k each gets to keep it. That's Britain for you, working hard to ensure the system is fundamentally unfair.

Hope everything is ok MM and nervous. Have a stinky cold and want to go back to bed already but DH has agreed to help dig a drainage ditch at the football pitch that is used by DS1's kiddie football club (fool) so may have to be a veg day on the sofa and hope the kids are angels Smile.

Got my iron results back and at 28 weeks it was 11.6. Same as with DS1 but I dropped quite a bit with him and was anaemic by the end. I think I may ask for a re-test at 34 weeks just to see if there is a drop. Really want a water birth so need to up the steak, spinach and iron tablets I think!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2012 09:39

missmummy/ nervous hope all goes well today. Keep us up to date.

Right stupid question time, I know this is DC 4 but in my defence all pregnancies are different and all of them throw up new thoughts and experiences.

Ok so baby has dropped and is super low today, but the head is not engaged. ConfusedThen on Thurs the sonographer said the head was sort of cocked to one side and looking up. Surely that is uncomfortable? Is it going to come out a bit twisted. YW I know you have been investigating the belly mapping thing, does that sort of position appear?

It couldn't damage itself by being like that could it?Blush

Ok I will go back to being a normal intelligent woman now and go and clean the bathroom.

applepieinthesky · 29/09/2012 09:40

My iron results were 10.8 at 28 weeks and despite previously being prescribed iron tablets they didn't give me any more. Stupidly I forgot to ask. Seeing mw next Friday so will ask about the tablets and being retested. She said 10.8 is still within the normal range but it has dropped a lot from what it was hence I will be feeling very tired.

Iheartpasties · 29/09/2012 10:13

Fingers crossed for nervous & mm1 keep us updated please :)

We are slowly slowly getting this flat organised, I feel we are going in the right direction, sometimes I need to focus on that and try not to stress over the small things :) Today we bought a hammer and some fixtures so I can put up some pictures in DD's room, fingers crossed it'll look good when we're done. We went to a massive stationary store today and it was amazing, good job DH was there to reign me in - every isle had stuff on it i would have been happy to buy, stuff you never knew you wanted until you saw it!!

ValiumQueen · 29/09/2012 11:02

sophia I am sure your baby will be fine. They are not subject to the same gravity as us as they are in water, and have super soft padding, plus their bones and muscles are super flexible. If uncomfy baby would be perfectly able to move, and when you lay down that would be even easier. First babies engage fairly early, but subsequent ones will not do so until the onset of labour, although they may bob in and out of your pelvis. When I was unloading the washer yesterday, I wondered if I could snap the babys neck by accident. This is my third. I know that is daft. I just think it is natures way of reminding us that the time is getting near.

MissMummy1 · 29/09/2012 11:10

All is fine. Thanks for your kind words. Mws were lovely and reassured me I was NOT overreacting. Typically as soon as they stuck me on monitors junior started moving. Been told to take it easy and keep an eye on discharge but lots of extra clear discharge is normal in 3rd trimester. Feel a bit stupid now but a lot less stressed so wasn't a complete waste of time!

Nervous hope you got some good news too xx

Iheartpasties · 29/09/2012 11:19

mm1 good news, awesome, you absolutely did the right thing in getting checked.

ValiumQueen · 29/09/2012 11:38

Good news MM don't feel silly. You did the right thing. Hope you do rest and soon feel better x

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2012 11:46

missmummy that's good news now get busy with some resting!

kirrinIsland · 29/09/2012 11:48

MM and nervous hope you are both ok.

I did my last day at work yesterday - what a relief!

Today will involve mooching around not doing too much and hoping my back and pelvis stop aching!

FatimaLovesBread · 29/09/2012 12:10

MM Glad it's good news!

I finally went to bed again about 6am when DH got up for work. Managed to get some one and off sleep although I kept waking with a painful hip and having to try find a comfier position. Am I really going to have another 8 weeks of this? SadAngryGrin

My iron level was 9.9 when I finally got the results through so I was put on iron tablets straight away. Although with it taking nearly 3 weeks to get the results i'm guessing it probably fell lower in that time.

We've got no plans this weekend, we might pop to Ikea tomorrow but today we're sorting the house out once DH gets home. I made myself a spreadsheet of what needs doing to the house before I'm due so each weekend we have a different room to tackle, today's job is our bedroom

Is anyone planning on keeping baby names secret until it's born? MIL was questioning us last night, we haven't discussed it much anyway because I want to wait to make a final decision, but I really wanted to say stop asking because we're not going to be telling. I just know that if we mention some of the names we like there'll be some negative comment so i'd rather just wait until we're fully decided

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2012 12:30

I would keep it to yourself fatima

Iheartpasties · 29/09/2012 12:31

fatima yes we will keep queit once we have chosen our name/s i hate hearing negative comments about names so i dont tell anyone what we've decided on. With dd my 'best' friend fell out with me because we 'stole' her name, she was pregnant with a boy and she had told me this and told me it would be her last baby - we had a girl!?? argh!! We are still not friends, i made lots of effort and now just feel totally fed up with it! stupid fucking cow!!!!!!!!! Confused

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/09/2012 12:34

kirrin I think you are due the same day as me,7. Nov? I left on Thurs so knowing you have left appeases me that I left at te right time.

Awful BH today. Either that or I haveeten something.

Xx

blonderthanred · 29/09/2012 12:38

Yep, keeping baby names and baby sex a secret until the birth. I've just told everyone we have 2 names for each sex and we'll see what it looks like when it comes out!

Most people have guessed the sex correctly though which is annoying as I'll have lots of smug friends after the birth. No-one's guessed the name though!
