Evening all. Hiya Hellkat Smile Yes its finally sunk in for me too, the baby is kicking so it all feels right and im getting excited now even allowing myself to by things. Mothers day i painted the Nursery as hubby was working and i keep going in there and putting the mobile on.

ITS A BOY

What an earth do i do with two boys under the age of three?????? Ahhh i know Valium!!!!!

Marls001 · 04/04/2006 20:42

Hellkat, CONGRATULATIONS. It's so fun when they're that active.

Angeliz LOL re homebirth.

Compo - if anyone willingly foregoes an epidural here in US (like I did) everyone thinks she's crazy!! (or Superwoman.)

Mabel we're also waiting on the gender scan to buy anything - makes me a bit nervous though; have a very good friend whose scans said "girl" - then she ended up having a boy!! That little boy on the playground sounds like a problematic adult waiting to bloom ...

Curlygirl, not unusual at all. My cousin brought over a DVD slide show today of DS's other little cousins in Florida; I don't get to see those families often so was tearing up as put the DVD in, and that's just not me ... then again, only got 3 hours' sleep last night. Hot flashes, I think; also heart palpitations, so I am getting them, after all. So exhausted today. It's Unisom & Benadryl tonight for me.

Welcome Maddy! Congratulations to you!! Now the fun begins.

puppy · 05/04/2006 08:00

Welcome and Congratulations maddyd Smile

Morning all, nothing much to say from me

Hellkat is great to feel them move isn't it, I find our LO is more active in the evenings and quiet most of the day.

I had my bloods taken yesterday at the hospital, gosh is was busy, the number on the screen was 9 and my ticket number was 41 Shock. The poor phlebotomists (?sp) was run off their feet and here comes me with four blood forms lol.
I have upto 3 weeks wait to see if alls well with the triple test.
Hope all is ok with everyone.

HellKat · 05/04/2006 08:29

Morning all.
Maddy- Congrats on it being a little boy!!!!
Puppy- I expected a huge long wait for our triple test results and was gobsmacked when they came less than a week later.
Compo- Just a hunch. I could be wrong though (have been before lol). Just carrying differently (alot smaller & neater) craving different things etc.
Will have to wait until 3rd May to know for sure but will be over the moon either way.

Lysettes · 05/04/2006 09:27

Morning everyone - what another beautiful day! Am so pleased for everyone whose scans have been positive and feeling kicks and movements.

Am a first timer so not sure if what i'm feeling is anything really! I'm growing so that's something anyway...

Still waiting for triple test results (two weeks now) so just have to be patient.

I am ridiculously emotional - Emmerdale last night was the latest thing to set me off Blush

Have a great day!

Bella23 · 05/04/2006 09:52

Morning ladies.
Lysettes - I am with you on the fact that as a first timer I am not sure exactly what I am feeling re movement etc!

Gosh all these people finding out the sex, my DH really wants to know as well but I am against the idea as really want a suprise. I have no hunch what I am having, only have girl names at the moment so we need to start thinking of boys names.

Well to update you on my friend who had the bad bleed, all has gone away and she is blooming so lets hope the episode is now a distant memory and all goes ahead smoothly.

I have suddenly got a lot bigger in the last week, definately got a bump which is very exciting.

Well probably enough waffle from me for now, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine

mabel1973 · 05/04/2006 10:43

Hi all!

Great to hear about all these movements - I have been feeling quite a few kicks now - mostly in the evenings when I get to sit down and relax!
Good luck to all those waiting for blood results.
HK - glad your consultants appointment went well.
Maddy - congratualtions on your little boy!! :)
I am on countdown to my scan now - can't wait!
Marls - you are absolutely right about the child at playgroup he is more than likely going to grow in to a bully and his mother calling him a 'wuss' everytime he shouts names at DS is hardly going to help his confidence!
Well it is absolutely beautiful here today (we had snow yesterday for about 10 minutes - wierd!) and all my little bulbs are starting to bloom!
Feel all happy and springlike!

mabel1973 · 05/04/2006 10:44

still deaf though.......!

TopBanana · 05/04/2006 11:03

Hi, great to know things are going well with everyone. Can't believe how quick this pregnancy is going, 17 weeks already!

Just a quick question re the triple test as I can't remember from last time! Does everyone have it or do you have to request it? Because no one has mentioned it to me.

compo · 05/04/2006 11:04

Hi TopBanana - noone actually told me it was the triple test, just called it blood tests.

OP posts:
TopBanana · 05/04/2006 11:06

I had some bloods taken at my booking in app at the hospital, that was at about 9/10 weeks. Could that have been it?

compo · 05/04/2006 11:08

It is likely. The first bloods I had taken were with the scan so that would have been 12 weeks. Have you looked in your maternity notes? It was only when I had a proper read of the blood tests results that I realised I must have had it!!

OP posts:
TopBanana · 05/04/2006 11:13

Just had a look, theres no blood test results. I guess they must have gone to the doctors and they haven't given them to me! I'm sure they're fine or I'd know about it.

Coriander73 · 05/04/2006 11:16

Bella, we're not finding the sex out! I just think somethings are better left unsaid! I guess I'm a bit of an old romantic, when at they end of it all they say it's a boy / it's a girl....& visions of my DH ringing everyone to say as much...:o

Bella23 · 05/04/2006 11:28

Coriander - that's my romantic notion too !!
Anyone else having trouble thinking of boys names? I have 2 girls names picked but struggling to even think of one boys name that I even vaguely like!

Normsnockers · 05/04/2006 11:33

I am desperate for scan date to hurry up and arrive as I am not feeling any movements at all and getting anxious about this. Perhaps it's just because I have a thick layer of blubber across the front of my belly or maybe the placenta is at the front but I'm willing the next week to pass soooo quickly.

I had a hormonal weep whilst reading "the wish cat" to ds at bedtime last night and have had several horrid dreams about going for the next scan and being told baby died some weeks ago. It happened to a very close friend of mine and I'm paranoid that I'm now the same age as she was when it happened.

The sickness seems to be getting a bit better and I might try and wean myself of the drugs in a week or so. At the back of my mind I hope the sickness isn't getting better because of any problem with the pregnancy.

I never worried half as much about the last pregnancy as I am doing about this one.

Normsnockers · 05/04/2006 11:36

Sorry, that's quite a depressing post to read.

There are good bits to my life at the moment, dh was quite chatty when he got home from work last night instead of grumpiness personified.

Bella23 · 05/04/2006 11:39

Norms - bless, don't worry about sounding depressing. I totally sympathise with the worries. I swing from "everything is all going to perfect" to "Its all going to go horribly wrong" almost daily!
Its good to be able to come on here and say how you feel.
And as for a chatty DH - hoorah!

compo · 05/04/2006 11:41

Norms - don't worry too much, I'm not feeling that many movements yet. Only at night if I concentrate really hard. How many weeks are you now? Maybe your midwife would give you a heartbeat check if you say you're concerned?

OP posts:
mabel1973 · 05/04/2006 11:49

Norms - agree with compo - call your midwife and get her to check the hearbeat if you are worried. That's what she's there for she shouldn't mind at all. With ds we drove to the hospital on a sunday night once because he hadn't kicked all day, as soon as I lay on the bed for them to have a listen he started playing football! But I do agree - I didn't worry as much with ds as I do this time - or at least that's how it feels.
Top - the triple test bloods are normally taken at 16 weeks - that is the optimum time. They should give you the option of whether you want it done or not - it is not compulsory and they should explain it to you. My midwife made an appointment to see me at home to explain the possible implications of having it done - even though I'd had it done before.

curlygirl · 05/04/2006 11:52

Topbanana - the triple test is usually offered to you at booking and then it is taken between 16-17 weeks. It gives risk ratios for having a baby with downs syndrome and spina bifida. The bloods they take at booking are general ones to find out your blood group, rubella status and haemaglobin levels (to see if you are anaemic).
Bella 23-I am also struggling with name ideas. I have a few ideas for a girl but none for a boy. I have a feeling we are having another girl anyway, although I would love a boy. My dh wants to call it Jack if it's a boy, because we have been watching 24 on dvd recently - after Jack Bauer lol.
I have bought a new buggy after much deliberation. Our pushchair was beginning to fall to pieces so we wanted a single buggy that would convert to a double in September. We decided on a Phil&Ted's with doubles kit. I am now worried we have done the wrong thing as it states that aa child needs to be in the front seat if a child is to be in the back. This may pose a problem as dd will be 22mnths when baby arrives so will be walking some of the time. Oh well, I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Anyway, I'm going to take dd to the park this afternoon to try it out. Isn't it a beautiful spring day?

curlygirl · 05/04/2006 11:54

Norms- don't worry, many women don't feel the baby move until much later.SmilePregnancy and parenting is one worry after the next isn't it?

Coriander73 · 05/04/2006 12:00

Norms, yep agree with everyone..get your midwife to listen to the heartbeat. I'm sure all is OK but understand your worry. I had another check up yesterday as I needed to have one of my bloods repeated & it was very ressuring to hear the heartbeat :) I've not felt anything concrete yet other than a few bubbles (I think!) so yes, at the back of mind I've been thinking is it all OK etc....It's perfectly normal to feel like this, until there is an established pattern of movement I'm sure....

Bella, DH & I can't agree on any boys' names at all. The ones that we bring to the table for discussion aren't really getting us going either it's more a case of "yeah, that's OK I suppose" whereas first time around we knew straight away that it was either Oliver or Olivia! If it's another girl, then definitley Imogen....:o

compo · 05/04/2006 12:01

we've managed to decide on a boy's name that we both like.... Edward Smile

OP posts:
Bella23 · 05/04/2006 12:04

OOh like the name Imogen Grin
So far we have Abigail or Tabitha for a girl.
