Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FriendofDorothy · 09/01/2013 10:03

OH faith I understand that. I go to church with a girl who married a week before us and she has just told me she is pregnant with number 2. I am pleased for her but it still pisses me off that people seem to manage to get diffed so easily!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 09/01/2013 10:11

Oh dor, your poor milkmaid! Bless The Mister, I guess he's just trying to do his best and he's probably got a point in the long term but I can imagine that's frustrating, especially if he settles quickly!

Yes, it's nice for her and I guess I don't begrudge her the baybee. I know how blessed we are! Also last time she had a horrible pregnancy and a traumatic birth ao I guess she's hoping for a better time this time round.

Last night was so luffly. We got into bed early (knackered), watched the darts. MSB was tapping my belly and the baby kicked back! He said how much he'd missed isthe night before! :)

blonderthanred · 09/01/2013 10:25

bluer my DS is 10w5d.

Dor you are right to want to keep him on your chest longer - it takes about 15-30m for them to be in really deep sleep. I was worried about L only falling asleep sleeping on me but after about 6 wks he just 'got it' and started to be ok to be put down half asleep and doze off on his own. We do have a Ewan which helps that process. But don't worry about bad habits or rods for backs or any of that nonsense.

Ha I sound like the voice of experience with 8 kids and a degree in Early Yrs when actually I have about 6 weeks on you. But hopefully useful to hear from 'round the corner'.

FriendofDorothy · 09/01/2013 10:47

We have a Ewan too. Not sure whether it helps Edward sleep but I certainly find it makes me go straight off to sleep!

Thanks for the advice :)

snowqueenrollo · 09/01/2013 11:25

I fed/cuddled DS to sleep until just after he turned one. Everyone said I'd made a rod for my own back with that one but it only took a week of sitting it out in his room to teach him to settle in his cot from being awake.
I'm most definitely in the camp of doing whatever is necessary to get some actual sleep and rest when they are very tiny.
I don't do sleep deprived.....dor if HOLB does that to me/baby he'll be walking like John Wayne for a week.......

I am at the M/W this afternoon for a routine appt. I am struggling. I cannot drive, I cannot even make it round the tiny village shop without setting off contractions. My pelvic muscles feel bruised, and I have constant pressure in my back passage. I'm basically sitting on the sofa or getting comfy in bed and desperately trying not to trigger labour. 35+2 today.......

LPplusOne · 09/01/2013 11:52

Hello all! Sabbatical over and ready to pop! (Actually PlusOne needs to stay in for another 10 days...then once we hit 37 weeks, I'm giving him an all green lights go ahead to make his appearance ASAP.)

Welcome Blu and FTW - glad you're here.

Rolls - I thought you were due the day after me, on the 10th? If so then that makes you 35+3 today. And that's one more day closer to celebrate! Grin

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 09/01/2013 11:55

Oh snowy what a tough time! How far along do you have to be to have the home birth? I hope the MW reassures you!

Welcome back LP!! I was hoping you'd stick your nose back in here now the dissertation is in :) How are you feeling?

LPplusOne · 09/01/2013 11:57

Phone cut me off...

Meant to add that we had our 36wk scan yesterday and all is well. Size for dates is spot on. It's funny, though, how seemingly less detailed the scans look when the bambinos are so much bigger! He was all scrunched up in there! The 2 MWs kept remarking on 'how tight' it was in there for him...who knew I actually had some decent stomach muscles to begin with. Hmm

LPplusOne · 09/01/2013 12:03

I'm okay Faife - oddly enough I'm a little really down today. As I was last night. I'm trying not feel depressed. Perhaps it's the post-rush of my deadline. And I'm having such a horrible time with sleep - mostly due to horrific reflux and bile-throat. Blech. Can't lay down sometimes. Luckily, having a new chair and foot rest delivered soon, so might be able to sleep sitting up!

How're you feeling post-hospital?

LPplusOne · 09/01/2013 12:04

On a happier-making note - today is exactly 30 days from my EDD. Eek!

LPplusOne · 09/01/2013 12:05

(or should that read 'to my EDD'??)

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 09/01/2013 12:09

It's an anti-climax isn't it? When you've worked towards something for so long. Not long til your due date but long enough.

I got asked at the hospital if I was getting reflux. I was a bit like, Hmm, of course, I'm pregnant! :) I slept like a top last night. So nice to be home. Pain is barely there now. Just pottering around the house, doing little jobs to make it nicer. Not too much though cos I'm on nights Confused from tomorrow! I'm going to say to boss no more nights after this though, it's just too hard on my body!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 09/01/2013 12:30

Oh no, I'm stuck watching Bargain Hunt because the TiVo remote is across the room and I CBA to get up and get it! :)

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 09/01/2013 17:13

Hmm that's interesting. I was wallowing sitting on the sofa feeling glum. I decided to do the pregnancy yoga DVD that MSB gave me for Christmas (been too snotty to try before). I feel uplifted and relaxed now. Very impressed! :)

snowqueenrollo · 09/01/2013 18:16

lp yep....stupid pregnancy brain....I am indeed 35+3. It's odd how that one little increase in number means SO much though.
HOLB is stressing that he's fixed his diary to only have to be away from home for two days until due date, both next week....both in London.....and now I've turned into a ticking time-bomb.
Am 3/5ths engaged, m/w agreed no driving and as near to complete rest as I can manage or I am going to pop. They are going to come round a week tomorrow to set me up for HomeBirth but I MUST make 37 weeks to get that.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I am so, so close to being not pregnant anymore, but a mummy again.

snowqueenrollo · 11/01/2013 11:12

boooooooorrreeedddd........it's a fact of life isn't it that you'd normally kill for a few days to just lounge around doing nothing, but the reality of having that enforced on you is utter boredom. Actually bored to tears. I'm sick of TV, I'm sick of DVD's, I haven't got any games for the Xbox to keep me amused, I'm relying on HOLB to fit all the errands etc around his work.....I'm even fed up with crochet/knitting because doing too much of that 1/ makes my wrists and fingers sore and 2/ makes my eyes funny and gives me a headache.
I just have to keep holding on to the thought that this is for my baby's sake, and to hopefully give me my much wanted Home Birth.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/01/2013 17:54

Aw queenie how rubbish!! :( not long now...there's really not a lot you can do but kill time. Do you think you'll hit 37 weeks then just move to get the baby out?!

Eurgh, nights are vile at the best of times but at 25 weeks pregnant, just Eurgh! Two to go....then God willing, no more until October!

snowqueenrollo · 11/01/2013 18:23

yes! 9 days.....and then I will no longer be on avoidance tactics! It's so hard, DS is here and it's just adding to the anxiety he's feeling about me/baby. But I HAVE to rest and so that makes it quite obvious to him that life is not normal right now. He's desperate to have his routine back, and yet in some ways we're having to deliberately let his routine slide to accomodate how he's feeling.

will be thinking of you on the night shift......

snowqueenrollo · 12/01/2013 05:37

insomnia, made worse by foot cramps.....I am actually tired but I just cannot find a comfy position in bed at all. Every which way I lie presents some level of discomfort which stops me from sleeping.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/01/2013 17:05

Well you've made it another day queenie! :) Do you have a maternity pillow?

I have finished my nights! Thank The Lord! My hands are ripped to shreds and I am rather tired now. Worst thing was I dreamt about work this morning so I feel like I never left Confused

snowqueenrollo · 13/01/2013 17:17

pillows, wedged up, lying flat, left side, right side.....there is really not a position left that is comfy for any length of time Sad. I can't tolerate anything under/near my bump when I lie in bed as it presses against it and hurts, but also the baby is responding to my bump pressing against things and so will move and wriggle.
If i sit on the sofa I have to get wedged upright or my diaphragm/lungs and that big vein? get compressed and I get breathless and very dizzy.
If I do attempt the mammoth task of getting in the bath I have to lie in it sideways.
One week left to hold on. In so many ways I'm looking forward to getting some normality back. HOLB having to pick up the slack with housework and it's causing stress.....

Feeling quite sorry for myself.

LPplusOne · 13/01/2013 19:04

I hear ya, Rollo! This is a much-longed-for bambino, but my god - I has no idea how uncomfortable pregnancy would be at this stage! My new routine is to stay up on the couch til 2.00am-ish, then waddle into bed, toss and turn (intermittently MNing on my phone) for the next 6 hours, then finally fall asleep out of complete exhaustion around 8.00am. Then sleep (albeit still fitfully) until noon.

6 more sleeps til 37 weeks...

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 16/01/2013 09:27

Baybees still inside queen and LP?!

I had such vile dreams....we'd been burgled and they'd taken a fair bit of stuff - all I could think was I can't replace all this stuff again but they'd graffiti'd on the wall including the baybee's room :( then we found them - teenage boys hiding in the bathroom. Very surreal. Yucky.

Work was hard yesterday. I am working with a new (ie just qualified) nurse who is lurvely but also had a student who is, I think, to misquote the sound of music never going to be a nurse! Nice girl but just doesn't seem to have the aptitude....that plus angry relatives left me tired and drained yesterday (and this morning) but I have a day off so I am off into town to get a contact check up and maybe spend some Christmas money!

snowqueenrollo · 16/01/2013 10:38

yes baybee still inside.....

I am thoroughly miserable though....sick to flipping death of being stuck at home. There really is only so much reading, crafting telly etc you can do before it all just becomes a bore....

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 16/01/2013 11:35

My sympathies queenie :(

I've just come into town. Irony of deciding to speed up to get past OAPs only to realise at 26 weeks I'm not much faster!
